It’s been almost two years since Pamela Anderson decided to live that makeup-free life. We’ve seen her do photo shoots, red carpets, Paris Fashion Week, and even the Met Gala sans glam team. I honestly love it. Well, the ‘Pamassaince’ continues! Pamela’s just become a spokesperson for Biolage, a brand that she likes because they align with her views on animal rights. For her first campaign, Pam sat down with People to talk about hair care.
Life is good: “Who would’ve thought at this age, I’d be in this industry, in the beauty world, and just kind of starting my career? There’s hope for all of us. I’m enjoying this time in my life. It’s really nice.”
On letting her hair air dry: “I air dry — I always look a little bit crazy, but it’s just my natural state. These products lock moisture in your hair, so your hair doesn’t get so frizzy and it feels healthy. You want to have a simple beauty routine that just nourishes, but isn’t over-complicated.”
“I can’t believe I still have a hair on my head with everything it’s gone through, with all the hot rollers, and the heat, and the sun, and everything. But I think, genetically, I’m lucky. My hair is very thick and strong, and it’s seen a lot. But that’s what’s so fun about this time in my life, where I actually just go to sleep with my hair a little bit damp, wake up, and it is what it is. And it doesn’t matter the haircut. As long as you have good products.”
She loves her boxed blonde hair dye: “I just grab any blonde, as long as it’s cruelty-free, again. I always make sure that that’s the case, and I do it myself. I always have,” she says. “I could not sit… I spent so much time in a hair and makeup chair in my career. I couldn’t imagine going to a salon or having someone color my hair, unless it was for something specific. I do it myself, 20 minutes, and I get stuff on sale, and that’s what I use.”
Looking healthy is her priority: “For me, hair is an expressive tool. I’m not wearing a lot of makeup these days, but my hair, I like a strong haircut. It’s kind of evolved over the last few projects; it’s exciting. But I think the number one thing for me is just for it to look healthy — with my hair and with my skin.”
On her Met Gala haircut and gown: “Tory Burch made me the dress for the Met, and it was a floating neckline and I thought, ‘Oh, we have to go short. We wanted the bob to float above the neckline. And I think a baby bang looks great — just getting it [the hair] out of my face. Especially at this point, where I’m kind of going out there to the world, I felt like this is another way to say, ‘This is who I am.’ It felt very female, warrior princess. I felt when I was walking in that dress, something came over me. That’s the thing that we all crave and look for when we’re creating characters, but also coming into ourselves. It felt like a magical, really powerful moment for me to feel so exposed and vulnerable, but so strong.”
The ‘Pamassaince’ continues: “I feel like I’ve just begun my career, and then to live alongside these brand partnerships, it’s really an honor. I love where this brand is going. It’s part of this new direction, feels like a celebration of authenticity, softness and strength. And that’s the warrior in me. I always have been a little bit rebellious, but I love being in the fight. I love being in the mix. I love living my life knowing that I can always do better. That just makes me feel alive. I’ve never been so at peace, but also, so inspired and fearless.”
Ahh, I feel it so hard when Pam says she looks crazy when she lets her hair air dry. My hair is naturally wavy, but for the longest time, I would blow dry it straight. If it wasn’t blow-dried, I needed to put product in it or else it would be a big frizzy mess. Then, during the Covid lockdowns, I didn’t do a dang thing to my hair for months and it gave me a whole new appreciation for its natural state. Now, I cannot remember the last time I used a blow dryer. It’s saved me so much time, even if it also sometimes makes me look a little bit crazy. It depends on the humidity, ya know?
I love how confident and happy Pam is now. Her beauty radiates, and I appreciate the messages she’s putting out for women. Society always expects so much from us. So many of us spend a lot of time trying to meet those standards when in the end, being healthy should be what matters. The only game to play is the one we buy into. I wish all women could be comfortable with being their true selves and that none of Pam’s decisions were controversial. I’m looking forward to whatever else the Pamassaince has in store.

She is not makeup free. Even she is quoted here as “wearing less makeup now”. Let’s not contribute to the world of false information. She is beautiful, wears a lot less makeup than other celebrities, but probably exactly the same amount as most women: tinted sunscreen, blush, lipgloss, brow or eye pencil.
Uhhh I disagree. I am not seeing eyeliner or brows on her at all.
Given how much time and money women pour into makeup over their lifetimes, I kind of see the expectation that we wear it in order to look professional or polished as sexist. We should all be as free as men — free to wear or not wear it. Big fan of any woman who goes makeup free, like Our National Treasure Pammy, in an industry built on the appearance of women.
She’s definitely got brow pencil, highlighter, and lipstick in that top photo. I’m not sure how you cannot see that? Which is fine, but let’s not make it more than it is. She’s not fully spackled as per usual in her younger days.
I’m with her on doing my hair! Last month…for the FIRST TIME IN MY 57 YEAR OLD LIFE…I took a pair of clippers & cut my OWN HAIR after YEARS of going to the barbershop! The prices for a simple short cut has gone from $40 to $100 and I’m like…no😡 I figured if all else failed…I would just shave it ALL OFF!😂 Not having to deal with the barbershop environment which is INTENSE coupled with saving money…is PRICELESS!
Now that is brave! A friend of mine did that, years ago. I was so impressed! I can’t even trim my own bangs!
Lala, can you explain what you mean about the barbershop environment being tense? Genuinely interested.
Sure! It’s an LOUD UBER male environment filled with the type of vibes I wouldn’t participate in if I didn’t need a vital service…I’ve been going to barbershops since 1973…when my Mama divorced me from my hair by putting a relaxer in it when that product first hit the market 😩 so I’ve been to so many shops all OVA the country and they ALL remind me of a cabal of toxic male behavior…oh and it’s ALSO a place where hilarity rules too!😂
I watched the Last Showgirl on Hulu. And I think that was the best acting Pamela has ever done in her life. The chemistry between her and Dave Bautista character was so sweet. Las Vegas is full of broken people with broken dreams. And what do you do when you’re too old to continue your dream. How do you pivot. How do you rise above it and move on. And how strangers weave in and out and family one day gone the next. I just really loved the movie.
I think she was robbed of an Oscar nomination. But at the least, it let people see her in a new light and not just a caricature she had been for decades. As the blonde sex bombshell. Curated around her.
@Flamingo..I agree. I watched it last wknd. As a film it is far from perfect. But the performances. When she broke down in the dressing room…I just have to say I was completely blown away by her honesty and vulnerability. That movie said so much about women in every stage of life. I wish Pam all the good things.
She was excellent. That movie made me so sad.
And directed by another Coppola woman! Love it! Build that dynasty, women!
Interesting that she says she felt like a warrior princess because that look gave me Joan of Arc vibes. Love watching/experienceing the Pamaissance!
I support the less makeup/no makeup thing. I just think she could find a middle ground makeup wise. She could apply some tinted moisturizer or a very light coverage foundation, a sweep of blush, pencil the eyebrows slightly, and a single swipe of mascara. All things she could apply herself in under 10 minutes. She’d look polished, and not kind-of disheveled. She could leave her hair totally natural with it.
Sure, she could. But if she’s happy with how she looks, why SHOULD she? I think she looks great, period. No qualifiers for needing to touch up anything just because it can be quick and easy and DIY.
Agree. She could, but why should she?
Ok, but, she doesn’t want to. She’s said this so many times and yet here you are still saying “yeah but she could just do a 10 minute face and she’d look more polished”. She wants to look how she looks naturally, whether at home or on the red carpet. I think it’s wonderful, and I think it should be more accepted for women to feel beautiful in their natural state and not have judgement about it.
She was wearing blush and lipstick at the Met. And I’m guessing concealer.
I love that she is the exact opposite of all the Instagram and TikTok influencers right now, who would have you believe that spending thousands of dollars a month on salon, hair dye, expensive makeup, contouring, and highlighting for every day photo shoots is the norm. She’s a lovely woman who was growing old gracefully and still looks beautiful.
Honestly, I had this conversation with a friend recently about how there are certain skin care procedures I’ve considered having, but I keep holding off because one they’re expensive and two with my lifestyle just being a normal person in a hot climate, do I really need to spend that much money on skin care procedures?!!!
I love that she seems to have found herself. And she likes it.
It is a huge gift.
She really has found peace in her life after decades of Hollywood fakery, bad marriages, everyone taking a piece of her. She lives not far from me on Vancouver Island in a town called Ladysmith, in her grandmother’s house. She’s found the idealistic life she probably yearned for since Playboy first discovered her and she became a victim of the gutter media. She’s a very strong woman and for those of you complaining that she “IS SO wearing a bit of makeup!”….so what? She’s clearly comfortable in her own skin and if she chooses to go completely makeup free or use a bit when she’s at some big event, BFD.
You’re absolutely right of course, and now I feel like an idiot for being one of those, she is so wearing makeup!
No makeup except for some brow pencil, highlighter, and lipstick. But sure, no makeup. So brave, Pamela.
Did you read the article excerpt? She says, “I’m not wearing a lot of makeup these days.” She makes no claim that she does not wear any makeup.
And going by some comments here, people do think she’s not wearing enough and can’t appear polished without more.
I don’t know her personally but she seems completely lovely! And she’s doing us middle-aging women a great service by being so age-positive and showing that aging is not something to be horrified by. What a gorgeous human!
When I let my hair air dry I look like John Lennon. It’s horrible.
She looks beautiful.
