Prince Harry claps back on the Sun’s curious insider story of his Clarence House visit

On September 10, Prince Harry traveled from his event at Imperial College London’s Centre for Blast Injury Studies to Clarence House. King Charles’s courtiers tipped off the press, and dozens of photographers and royal rota were waiting outside of Clarence House to catch a glimpse of Harry’s SUV being waved in. Harry met with his father for less than an hour. It was the first time Charles and Harry had been in the same room since February 2024. Harry has said very little about the meeting, and when he spoke to the Guardian in Ukraine, he spoke in generalities about wanting to visit the UK more often, especially over the next year.

Harry has kept up his end of the deal struck with Charles, the deal being “Harry can’t talk about Charles or the meeting, but Charles and his rancid courtiers can freely brief about it.” Add to all of this, Prince William has been having a nervous breakdown over Harry’s UK visit and Clarence House meeting ever since, and William and his courtiers can’t shut about it. There are at least two royal courts (Charles and William) doing the most to impose their narratives about Harry, his UK trip, the meeting and what it all means. Don’t forget about Camilla, spreading her rottweiler narratives as well. On Friday, the Sun dropped their big exclusive about “what happened at the meeting,” with sources claiming to have insider information from Harry’s side. Harry’s spokesperson furiously issued a statement within hours of the Sun’s publication, so the Sun basically had to rewrite their piece to include Harry’s denials. Some highlights:

Harry the official visitor: The reunion of Prince Harry and King Charles saw them swap presents and kisses on the cheek — but there were no plans made for the future, The Sun can reveal. After the 53-minute summit at Clarence House, wild rumours circulated that the pair had discussed Harry resuming some royal duties on a “half-in, half-out” basis. However, we can now reveal, the pair’s sit down earlier this month was “distinctly formal” and there is still no prospect of Harry returning to the family fold. Harry was surprised by the formalities of his recent reunion with the King — and even joked he felt more like an “official visitor” than a family member, we can reveal. He handed his father a framed photograph of their children Archie and Lilibet to mark their reunion – but Harry and Meghan were not in the family photo.

Harry’s spokesperson: “Recent reporting of the Duke’s view of the tone of the meeting is categorically false. The quotes attributed to him are pure invention fed, one can only assume, by sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son. Presumably, those same sources have also chosen to disclose that gifts were exchanged. While we would have preferred such details to remain private, for the sake of clarity we can confirm that a framed photograph was handed over, however the image did not contain the Duke and Duchess.”

Charles gave Harry a birthday gift: In a touching return gesture the King, 76, gave his youngest son a birthday present, as he was to turn 41 just six days later. But the duke was understood to have described the meeting with his father as “very official, like an official visit”. Insiders said the awkward exchange was carried out in similar style to that of dignitaries and visitors at royal residences.

Charles wants to have tea with Harry again: The King’s door remains open for another private cup of tea next time Harry is back in London. Harry was whisked into Clarence House in the back of a Land Rover to see his father while on an “faux royal” tour earlier this month. The Sun can reveal they greeted each other warmly with kisses on the cheek, before swapping gifts and having tea privately. Harry’s visit was sandwiched between two other audiences for the King. He arrived at 5.21pm and left at 6.14pm for an Invictus Games reception. Charles’s face-to-face with Harry was the King’s shortest audience of the day, after flying down earlier from Balmoral for engagements.

But what about PEG?!!? Claims the meeting was part of concerted efforts to undermine Prince William’s relationship with his father have also been denied. Harry’s spokesman said: “Categorically not. Harry is not trying to drive a wedge between the Prince of Wales and the King.” A source close to William has branded reports that he and the King are at odds as “rubbish”.

[From The Sun & The Royalist]

This is why I’ve always believed it’s stupid for Harry to even try to adhere to Charles’s dumb “rules.” The rules being “Harry can’t say anything about Charles” and “Harry has to coordinate schedules so that he doesn’t overshadow Charles’s big events.” Harry is giving away his two biggest advantages – his ability to correct the record, and the ability to get attention no matter what, especially at the expense of the left-behinds. Clearly, Harry has no problem correcting the record and I appreciate how responsive Team Sussex was on this story. As Tom Sykes noted in his coverage, “By suggesting that the same individual who leaked the gift also spun a line about a stiff, diplomatic tone to the meeting, Harry draws a line straight back to the top tier of his father’s household..” Exactly. As much as we’ve correctly assumed that Prince William and his courtiers are largely responsible for the panicked, paranoid and enraged briefings in recent weeks, the truth is that Charles and his people have been behind several of these stories. Including this one.

  1. Good for Harry on this pushback!!

    • sunnyside up says:

The question is did the lies come from BP or the author of this extract, I won’t call them a journalist, journalists report news not make up stories.

      • Beth says:

The Sun originally claimed that the framed pic included Harry and Meghan, as well as using those false quotes. Btw, Charles has a new, unbiased, DEPUTY private secretary now and I think Tobyn Andreae, Charles’ Comms guy, hit back with ‘waspish’ through his MoS contacts today before mentioning the wasp, fly and bee in Harry’s memoir, lol! Clearly dumping on Alderton, Charles’ private secretary – the fly and the bee have long gone and now sit in the House of Lords. Blimey, trouble in paradise!

      • jais says:

I keep forgetting. So Edward Young is no longer at BP? Then yeah, it’s just the wasp left.

      • Blubb says:

Now Baron Young of Old Windsor.
Just my opinion but it sounds silly.

    • Teddy says:

Love that Harry immediately pushed back, and clearly said the call is coming from inside the house.

    • Not a Subject says:

So glad he pushed back. But I’ll add… this could definitely still be KP leaking their usual lies. Charles just had a meeting with Lil’Willie in Scotland and suddenly the detail about the photo comes out. That sounds like something he might have said to William “he gave me a family photo”. If it was someone at BP they’d have known just the kids.

      • In order of who I think did it. Peg. Chuckles or Horsilla or rogue staff.

      • jais says:

So many possibilities. Is it Camilla and Alderton working together and wanting us to think it’s William? Is it Alderton and William working together? Or just Alderton on his own? Or just William on his own. LOL. It’s like a messed-up version of Clue. The tone of words being used lately. Sinister. Suspicious. Sabotage. It’s funny. But also sad. Bc at the end of the day there is a son who wants to reconnect with his dad and people are playing shallow games.

      • The butler did it in the office with a keyboard lol.

      • jais says:

Or yes. Just Charles directing Alderton. Didn’t mean to leave Chuckles out. Which is a possibility. I wonder why they got the photo detail wrong though.

      • jais says:

LOL. Whoever it was, the butler, the wasp, the egg, they definitely did not use a workable printer. A keyboard works. Or a WhatsApp message from a non traceable phone.

  2. Chloe says:

Who is charles’ current private secretary? They are probably fuming at harry right now

    • Blubb says:

It’s still the one Harry the wasp in his book.

    • Me at home says:

Clive Alderton. Ole’ Clive has hated Harry and Meghan since their London days. Harry called Alderton “the wasp” in Spare because he’s been viciously leaking against the Sussexes for years now.

Alderton seems like the kind of wasp/snake who would do this all on his own. Although I wouldn’t completely rule out Alderton leaking under Charles’ direction. I definitely wouldn’t rule out Bulliam, but for Bulliam to know details like the picture, he would have had to learn it from someone on Charles’ team (including but not limited to Alderton) who wants to curry favor with the soon-to-be king. So many suspects.

  3. Dee(2) says:

We all said this all earlier last week, with the competing narratives out of the Daily Mail versus the Telegraph. Honestly I’m not sure if this was Charles, William or Camilla, or courtiers. Either way it was done by people who think that Harry being ” forgiven” will make them look bad. And yet again in the end instead of improving themselves they would rather destroy. This is eternally the problem with the most senior members in that family and their senior staff. They can’t seem to think about anyone else just how things impact them directly. It’s just sad.

    • jais says:

In some ways it’s not a surprise. We all knew it would go this way. And yeah it’s very sad. I also think Harry was back in Cali just counting down the clock till this happened. He was ready to respond back on the record that he had nothing to do with the leak.

    • sevenblue says:

Camilla would leak to DM, not the Sun. The Murdoch’s Sun is the favorite of Will and his team.

  4. Eurydice says:

It’s feeling to me like the last years of Elizabeth’s life, when her senior staff was making decisions for her and briefing against Harry in preparation for Charles’ reign. Are we sure Harry didn’t slip Charles a burner phone along with that photograph?

    • jais says:

There’s been a few weird comments about some of Charles’s staff defecting to William. So could it be Alderton and William are aligned and sharing information?

      • Eurydice says:

Well, if Charles is not long for this world, I imagine the BP senior types will want to start ingratiating themselves with William.

      • Blujfly says:

Jais, that’s the line I drew from Sykes’ dots also. Alderton wants to stay on with William.

      • jais says:

That’s definitely been implied. I wonder if Charles gave Alderton or someone else that incorrect detail about the photo to suss them out. Or was he already aware?

  5. vs says:

I have never seen an organization as unprofessional as the royal family is…..when I think some British people want that family to be their “head of state”! what a joke…. they even brief about Donald and Melania room situation; that’s so unprofessional and tacky

    • Noor says:

Agree such toxicity all nameless and faceless. Politicians at least have their faces and names attached to their comments and opinions

  6. Blubb says:

No other European royal family has this problem to see themselves as a family. Second or third children live abroad or give up their royal role, see Sweden or the Netherlands, but never would the children and grandchildren not be part of the family.

    • Tarte Au Citron says:

Absolutely. The Windors look so spoilt and diva-ish in comparison.

      • ArtHistorian says:

The Windsors are super dysfunctional and while there are also familial conflicts in other European Royal families they are much better with staying message. Probably because they have a different staffing situation, i.e. smaller and better paid staff + senior staff does not meddle in family relationships like they do with the Windsors. Firstly, the Windsors have too many households and these various households are often in conflict with each other and it also seems to me that the senior Royal staff are meddlesome in family relationships + the Royal households exist in a parasitic relationship with the most toxic tabloid press in the world.

A new development is also that the other European Royal families look to the Windsors to see what NOT to do.

      • Bqm says:

Going back to at least Victoria various courtiers have often had an outsize amount of influence on the monarch and the intrafamilial relationships. Edward VII and his son George V were one of the few monarchs/heirs not to have serious conflict. And Edward probably had the least meddlesome staff as POW and King. Francis knollys was his private secretary for four decades.

  7. Mads says:

As a couple of accounts already posted on Twitter, the Daily Mail basically outs the source as being Clive Anderton, they refer to a “waspish” comment from their source saying something along the lines of “tea and cake isn’t the Treaty of Versailles”. Harry used the name “wasp” to describe one of the high ranking courtiers and everyone knows it’s Anderton.

I wonder if Harry knew this would happen, just gave them the time to leak, write the usual nonsense and then call them out on it, also serving as a message to his father that his inner circle doesn’t want them to have any kind of relationship at all.

Not that Charles will do anything of course 🤷‍♀️

    • jais says:

It’s funny how the tabloids are actually using references in Spare to hint at who is waspishly leaking.

    • Me at home says:

Sykes is outing Alderton as the source, too.

The interesting thing is that it was a private meeting, no? With just Harry and Charles. So Charles must have debriefed someone later. No doubt Alderton, who hates Harry, asked what happened. And Charles might have said something like, “we ate tea and biscuits, and he gave me a picture.” But Alderton didn’t see the picture during the meeting because he wasn’t there, and may not have seen it before he ran, with or without Charles’ blessing, to the tabloids. So Alderton had to make up something about the picture, and he was wrong.

But yeah, Charles will do nothing.

  8. Nic919 says:

Sykes was more explicit in his substack video. He names William, his team and Clive Alderton as the ones behind the leaks.

    • Not a Subject says:

I 100% think it’s lil willie behind this. He is so threatened by his brother! Sad really.

    • Talie says:

Yeah, he pretty much outed everyone involved. The press people the King hired appear to be the ones looking for reunions and nice family feelings. The courtiers want dysfunction and family feuds for the next 50 years. Sykes was kind of schizo saying Harry shouldn’t have responded, but it’s important he shuts down the narrative forming so now the media over there have no choice by to report his side.

    • Me at home says:

Yes, it really looks like Alderton leaked/lied either directly to the tabloids, or Alderton leaked/lied to Bulliam who then leaked/lied to the tabloids.

It’s really interesting that Sykes is coming out with this now, and the tabloids are finally alluding to it with language around “waspish” statements. I mean, Alderton and KP have been doing these negative briefings for 8 years now, according to Spare.

What changed? It seems to be catching Alderton/KP in a confirmed lie. Thanks to Harry’s team, who gave them the grist they need to call out Alderton/KP for not just leaking for years, but for making sh!t up. Or, after the last year of laziness and general fecklessness, are the tabloids just sick of Bulliam and Kate in general?

  9. Tarte Au Citron says:

I don’t blame H for doing it and putting KC3 on notice, but does it not smell like him being baited by the media, so they can keep stirring the pot. They’ll never stop.

    • Beth says:

They’ll never stop anyway – not responding for literally years until Oprah in 2021 didn’t stop the obvious smear campaign by sections of the UK press in an unholy alliance with the palace(s).

    • Me at home says:

I kinda love that Harry’s team is pushing back in a way that’s selective and dignified. And the result is that Sykes and a few “royal experts” are, for whatever reason, finally saying publicly that KP lies to them. (What reason and why now? Who knows. They’ve known all along, but now they have Harry’s evidence? They’re sick of the feckless Waleses giving them nothing to write about?) Sykes also just pointed out that KP lied about William’s heart-warming annual Balmoral reunion with Charles because, really, it’s just William hosting a hunting party for his pals.

Finally, parts of the UK press are saying what we’ve all known for years. Finally. And as @Beth says, KP’s been leaking/lying for 8 years now–much longer if you count the tabloids bigging up Willy by trashing Harry–so they’re not gonna stop on their own.

  10. Truejune55 says:

The schedule ‘agreement’ 90% is not true. That was made up by the rota. Actually, it was made up by kp, quite obviously. Surely Harry’s ‘weaknesses’ get blasted enough without any of us saying what the rota says is fact and implying he’s weak or dumb for doing it?

    • Amy Bee says:

Yeah I don’t believe the schedules story either.

    • sevenblue says:

Also, if Harry gets an engagement conflicting with Charles’s events, they are gonna say that Harry broke the rules. I am always surprised people still believe the info coming from unnamed sources.

  11. Amy Bee says:

As I said last week there seems to be an effort by the press in collaboration with the Palace to manipulate the situation. It’s interesting that the Sun didn’t have a front page story today about Harry’s response. The MoS front page has a story about Harry attacking the men in grey but it’s not written by Charlotte Griffiths who has been pushing out stories pretending as if she’s talking to Harry’s team. Plus none of the royal rota have tweeted about this except the weasly Matt Wilkinson who tweeted about an update to his story.

    • jais says:

Yeah, they just folded his response into the original article. Harry’s spokesperson initially went on record with The Independent about the Sun’s reporting being untrue. So the Sun basically just took those quotes from the Independent and added them to their initial story. Which is gross. Matt Wilkinson of the Sun said they gave Harry the right to reply before publishing but why in the hell should Harry have to communicate with their lies. They wanted him to engage with them and he said no. Which is why he went to another paper. Harry was being goaded to respond. And yet the Sun says they stand by their sources. But their sources claimed to have knowledge of Harry’s feelings and how he felt about the meeting. Which no source of the Sun would be able to know what Harry’s feelings on that were. That’s without even getting into the incorrect reporting on the photo.

  12. Gemini says:

So they are actually admitting that his leak is definitely coming from Clive Alderton, the Wasp. To what end? It is really psychotic behavior if he is doing this on behalf of Chuck, with his consent. If he is doing it behind Chuck’s back, is he acting on his own or with Cowmilla’s orders? He is definitely working with KP on this. I think Chuck has a team with opposing ideas about Harry and his relationship with his father and Chuck is too weak to control them. If he is pretending to start a relationship with Harry and belittling their meeting in the next breath, that makes him not only a shitty father but also an evil one. Again I ask to what end?

I’m glad Harry pushed back. But I am also sad that he is finding himself in the same situation again.

    • Dee(2) says:

I think at this point Charles is basically on palliative care, which would probably explain his willingness to see Harry and Harry’s focus on his father in the next year in his own words. This means that a lot of these senior courtiers that aren’t looking to retire need to ingratiate themselves with who is going to be in charge. They don’t care about undermining Charles because think that the monarchy can withstand all of this infighting and backbiting. I think that there’s a special type of arrogance in people that get to that level. They honestly believe that the house of cards will never fall, and that what they’re doing is best no other points of view can be considered.

So partnering up with William achieves several things for them. They keep their powerful position, they don’t get embarrassed by a person returning to the fold in any manner that they helped exile, and they ingratiate themselves to the next boss ensuring that their judgment and the power that comes with it is still valued above all.

      • Gemini says:

This is a very good explanation @Dee(2). It is basically Alderton auditioning for the private secretary position of the future king. Knauf has got competition, lol.

      • Gabby says:

Yes. Won’t it be funny if Peg strings the Wasp along until Charles dies, and then kicks him to the curb. Because he wants to change everything when he’s king.

      • jais says:

Knauf has got competition is making me laugh. The Wasp may be renamed as the Snake. But wait that’s Jason’s name. Ooh, maybe just change the Wasp to the Asp. Too many snakes slithering around as regimes change, that’s for sure.

      • Tessa says:

It should be mutual. Charles making peace with harry Meghan and the children and concentrate on that. And Charles needs to shut down pegs tantrums

      • Me at home says:

Guessing that Alderton knows too much for William to completely kick him to the curb. Alderton is guaranteeing himself some sort of top position in William’s “court,” whether he or Jason (another proven liar) gets the best spot.

    • ArtHistorian says:

I have read that there is a long history of members of Charles’ staff sabotaging each other according to different agendas with regard to influencing their principal.

  13. Julie says:

I hope this was Harry testing how much he can trust the royals, and they failed abjectly. I also hope this is the end of his willingness to get better with his family.

  14. Libra says:

Alas, Harry will eventually do what Meghan what pushed into doing. Cutting off a family member when they have repeatedly betrayed you. Charles has shown you who he is, Harry. Believe him, this time.

  15. Blujfly says:

Sykes has repeatedly stated in his coverage that the staff is catering to William and giving William more power because Charles is ill and William will be King sooner rather than later. The implication is said staff wants to stay in under King William. William currently lacks a powerful or experienced private secretary – they seem to prefer Jason out working for the “foundation” with the freedom to give interviews to Australian tabloid TV. It’s Alderton. He’s “only” in his late 50s. He’s catering to William to stay on as Charles weakens and dies.

  16. Chelsea says:

The quotes from Harry’s spokesperson make it seem like he doesn’t believe this leak came from Charles; he thinks it came from somone pretending to be in team Harry as a means to driving a new wedge between Charles and Harry. As i doubt Charles told William these details about the picture the leak has to be from near Charles; either from Camilla or from a faction in BP that doesn’t want Charles to reunite with Harry. My conspiracy theory that it is from a faction within BP that is actually aligned with William on this because it’s very curious to me that it seems like there were factions of BP briefing about how Charles didn’t want to see Harry and the meeting between Meredith and Charles team meant nothing in the weeks leading up to Charles and William meeting. These same factions now appear to be downplaying the meeting and pretending that Harry read too much into it.

    • Polo says:

Exactly right and it’s the faction led by Clive aka the wasp. He’s been clearly outed. Where it goes from here will be interesting. Lots of power struggles going on.

  17. Kate says:

Clive trying to secure his job with William. Charles is weak and will do nothing.

    • ArtHistorian says:

In “Spare” Harry implied that the Wasp has a vindictive streak so I also think that Alderton has a personal axe to grind with Harry.

      • Lady Digby says:

@ArtHistorian well that will end in tears won’t it if vindictive Will keeps vindictive Clive on as his right hand Muppet! Neither Will nor Clive seem to have any dignity, maturity or intelligence to see that rerunning the war of the roses is NOT future proofing the monarchy. Will is going to be a terrible king and no amount of banishing Harry from these shores can alter that. Good luck Clive with explaining Will ‘s inability to work regularly when he’s King!!

      • Blujfly says:

Yes – tina brown reported Alderton is considering retirement – he may see keeping Harry “exiled” as his most important final act

    • Me at home says:

Can it be both? The allusion to “waspish” rumors about the Treaty of Versailles definitely suggests that at least some of the lies are coming straight from Alderton’s mouth to the tabloids’ ears. And Alderton does have a longstanding personal axe to grind with Harry (thus, Harry’s nickname for him, the Wasp).

But also, Alderton, if he’s not on the verge of retiring, may be angling for the top spot in William’s “court.” Jason Knauf is probably also angling for the top spot, but after Jason was caught lying to a judge, complete with faked emails from Meghan, it might be a long shot for Jason to return to the royal fold. Then again, Bulliam subsequently knighted Jason and gave him a prime position on Earthshot, so Bulliam clearly doesn’t care about unethical behavior towards Harry. Are Alderton and Knauf competing for Bulliam’s love by trying to prove who can lie the hardest about Harry?

      • jais says:

At the end of the day, all we know is that the DM wants us to think Clive Alderton is behind the leaks. The waspish line was clear. I can see both Knauf and Alderton serving different purposes for William. Alderton with the tabs and Knauf with the press outside the uk. If that’s what going on. It’s messy and I’m not sure the strategy is always something that’s actually well put together, especially not with William at the helm.

  18. Lady Digby says:

Surely no one can begrudge a father son private reunion under these circumstances? Okay Will and minions are on the war path and clearly feel threatened by even a private reunion. Still as Will “wins” by becoming King and having everybody brief for him and hail him as marvellous no matter how little he does why bother about a brief reunion between Chuck and Harry? I win so you lose everything and can’t be admitted into the royal presence from now on? Does Will want to be King or dictator or ogre? Most kind hearted people would welcome a reconciliation between father and son which is a private matter for them? Why is it Clive Alderton who gets to decide for someone else what does or doesn’t happen?

    • Eurydice says:

They begrudged any meetings with Elizabeth, why not with Charles?

      • lungta says:

Wouldn’t an expose of the “grey men” make an interesting article/book? Expose the shit in their personal lives! Karma.

    • ParkRunMum says:

This is to reply to @Lady Digby, alas, your humane and enlightened views would represent a concession that William and the grey men cannot stomach. It would make them look impotent. For all the raging, gaslighting, smearing, & sniping merely to end in a cup of tea and comfort shows up how simply unhinged and malicious the whole ordeal has been. But it’s curious to witness a pattern I recognise from my my own family, likely others do, too: Charles was always too weak to make commitments that were genuine and it’s a blend of farce and tragedy that engulfed him when his marriage imploded for all the world to see, not because Diana was some bridezilla, but because he was incapable of staying away from Camilla. He was needy. And the irony is, the more fed up and enraged Diana became — understandably — the more he needed Cammy’s shoulder to cry on. To an outsider, it’s a pathetic lack of accountability. To an insider, it’s the self-pity of a parent who cannot simply maintain boundaries. True story: my mother once flew into London to visit me (months after I had originally invited her, and at the most awkward possible time, when I was actually supposed to be in Paris for a weekend with my boyfriend, now husband). She simply announced she was coming. No queries about whether it was a good time. My stepbrother was living in London with his family at the time. Don’t know if they’re still here. Shudder. Hope not. Don’t really care. God, anyway. I suggested she spend some time with them while I was away, then we’d catch up. Various reasons were mooted, she simply wanted to tag along, we said, okay, sure, what the hell? It wasn’t fun. It was awkward and tense and weird. Came back to London. Don’t even remember the journey. I suggested again, don’t you want to go see the kids? There were two kids, both baby / toddler age, to whom she was playing granny. She played for time, dodged the issue, it struck me as cagey, and evasive, and — weird. I rolled my eyes. Whatevs. A day or two went by. I finally confronted her, and managed to wring the real story out of her, like pulling out her teeth: she had not told them she was here. She had flown from New York. Wasn’t planning to see them before she flew back. This staggered me. And I thought instantly of the kids. These are two kids I haven’t seen since 2006 (?) and one of them cropped up on FaceBook the other day as “someone you may know,” presumably connected to other members of the family. Must be about 20. Blocked them instantly. Don’t want to know. Relations were never good. Started bad, got worse. But here is the morale: I told my mother that day (2008) I never wanted to see her again. And I haven’t. Proud of that. As it happens. I did not want on any account to drag another generation of this “family” — whoever they are — into this sordid dysfunction. That was it. And that’s what parasitic narcissists do: they weaponise their weakness to prey on people. And people see the weakness, and pity them, and enable it. Now, if you are the child of a person with no moral core, you see how their weakness leaves you exposed as collateral damage. My mother routinely threw me under the bus simply to save herself from momentary unpleasantness. From all manner of accountability. From moods that pass. From fact checking. Simply put, some parents use their children as scapegoats. The fact that Charles allows his grey men to behave like this — to say nothing of William, who has his own reasons, most of them to do with his own inadequacy and intimate knowledge of his own bad conscience — is disgusting. Deplorable. And entirely predictable. Because in Charles’ mind, he’s not loved unless people are fighting over him. Philip and the Queen Mother, who routinely seethed at each other, set this model. His mother was busy. Diana and Camilla. Harry and William. The best thing you can do for someone like this is to let them go. My father did this: he let go. That was merciful. Because the way a narcissist grips you, it’s like a drowning man. Either they will survive, or you will.

I’m so glad they nipped it in the bud cause all 3 of those fake stories put out by KP and Clive were ridiculous. Also Harry’s response was on all the major papers in the UK including the serious one so it did its job. When Harry visits again will they still do this again? Yup I expect it especially when British tabloids are willing to print articles from random nobodies with no legitimate sourcing.

    • Lady Digby says:

How dare anybody other than Harry say how he felt about meeting his dad again? Okay the Scum is a complete stranger to truth but imagine printing a quote from a source claiming to know what someone else was thinking or feeling? Harry just successfully sued the Scum so no one is believing that their original source was Harry confiding in them his personal thoughts and feelings?

  20. Maxine Branch says:

Prince Harry knows more than we all have assumed. If giving his father some heads up about his schedule is okay with him, then I am okay with it. Prince Harry probably knows his father is not long for his earthly journey and if it gives Prince Harry and his father some peace, I am staying out of the judgement zone. My sympathy is with Prince Harry, he is between a rock and a hard space dealing with his father. I wish him well.

  21. Lady Digby says:

And do the royal sources and Will live happily ever after? If Will and Clive and Jason are going to happily rule together from now on, couldn’t they have the decency to allow the current king to see his youngest son occasionally? To try and sabotage a tentative reconciliation shows such meanness and cruelty. This is just rotten and cruel from a contemptible crew. Honestly don’t know how anybody can obtain satisfaction from preventing a further meeting. Judging from the positive reaction to Harry’s visit and that tea with dad, right thinking people want a father son reconciliation. Clive briefing malicious crap makes him look small and nasty. The Firm ruined their own image by treating Harry and Meghan so badly. Clive has just been outed as the source proving how nasty senior courtiers are towards the King ‘s son and DIL. Isn’t there anybody intelligent and decent working there who can see this is a horrible path to continue going down on? Neither Charles nor Will look good as heads of the Firm that briefs against kin this way?

    • Me at home says:

Bulliam couldn’t care less if his PR people are caught lying on his behalf. In fact, Bulliam rewards unethical behavior.

See: Jason Knauf, who was caught red-handed by a judge for submitting fake texts that Jason claimed were from Meghan, but which Jason had actually cobbled together from two other texts that Meghan actually wrote. ( Did William tell Jason to fake the texts? Hmmm. And Jason’s emails were the only source for the Meghan-bullying claims, hmmm.) Poor Jason had to leave royal employ after that little fiasco before a judge. But Bulliam subsequently knighted him and gave him a plum position at Earthshot.

Not sure if even Bulliam could rehabilitate Jason enough to bring him back into the royal fold after the whole faking-texts-to-lie-to-the-judge thing, although I wouldn’t put anything past Bulliam. But maybe Alderton knows the spot of William’s top guy is up for grabs, and he’s lying as fast as he can about Harry to try to weasel his way into it.

    • WheresMyTiara says:

Bottom line, Clive Alderton and his crew are actively destroying the monarchy while trying to control the principals. They think pushing Harry out gives them better control over King and heir, two vastly inadequate, cowardly, emotionally damaged men.

Here’s the thing Clive is forgetting: Harry wants no part of it. He is free and content. He wanted out of the Firm decades before he ever heard of Meghan. So Clive, just let the man visit with his dying father, and keep the Sussexes’ names out of your nasty little mouth. Stop acting like Grima Wormtongue. It makes you look petty, small, weak, and definitely not like anyone who should have a senior courtier role.

  22. Over it says:

I think it was a mistake to give chuck a picture of your children. Seriously, how long will it take before that picture makes it way into the sun or daily fail ? At least let’s hope it is a baby picture and not a more recent one . And yes yes I know I am on the outside looking in but what would ever make harry think he can trust his father or anyone who works for him? This was always going to happen. These people are not bees, wasp and flies , they are snakes , scorpions and centipedes . They are literally the most dangerous and devious of them all . So Harry should never be surprised when they strike out at him . If he wants a peaceful happy life. Then maybe going cold turkey towards your father would be the best option. Again I am an outsider so it’s easy for me to say that . Harry obviously has his reasons and I really shouldn’t judge him and respect him to make his own decisions but I just can’t see any good coming from opening communication with his father .

    • sevenblue says:

I don’t think the tabloids are allowed to publish the family photo of two minors. They would get sued and they know H&M aren’t playing like that.

  23. HeatherC says:

Pleased with the quick correction from the Sussexes. But I wish the spokesperson was shady. “As a father of two himself, the Duke of Sussex knows the importance of keeping good relations and communications with both his children.” Shade both Chucky and Willie at once in the most neutral way lol.

But I’m petty. If there were a kingdom of Petty, I might be royalty myself.

  24. Henny Penny says:

Sometimes I think because we care so much, we forget who Prince Harry is and what he has accomplished and, in doing so, we tend to infantilize him and project our own traumas onto a situation we really can’t comprehend. Prince Harry has already done the impossible: He escaped with his life, his wife and his child from a Regime almost no one at his level has escaped from in over 1000 years. Five years later, Harry is alive, free, richer than ever, doing what his heart desires most, married to one of the most beautiful, talented, intelligent woman in the world, raising two beautiful children exactly as he likes, and, on top of all of that, he has created a vast, global network of deeply loyal veterans and won the hearts of the global audience. And his gorgeous wife is living her best life, destined to be a legend, dripped in so much gold and fine clothing that even the future Queen of England is raving mad with jealousy, and remains clearly in love with the Prince who sacrificed it all for her.

I believe Harry and Meghan know exactly what they are doing. They have learned that if they keep walking straight, it’ll soon become obvious who the crazies are. They are playing a very dangerous game, and they both know their children may be left vulnerable if anything happens to them. Harry can never fully walk away from his family in the same way you, or me, or even Meghan can.

It’s obvious Harry and Meghan are smarter than smart. They’ve thrived in a situation that would destroy most people. And now they are playing 3D chess for the survival of their children and grandchildren with a group of brain-damaged toddlers.

    • Catman says:

‘We’ don’t. Some people here absolutely do. Harry is infantilized here often, and Meghan gets all the credit. It’s definitely projection. He accomplished more than 99% of the population before he even met Meghan. His legacy will last well beyond his lifetime. Beggars belief what the man needs to do to be treated like an intelligent, highly accomplished MAN. Btw this does not reduce Meghan’s achievements at all. This comment is about Harry only.

  25. MSJ says:

Prince Harry said there cannot be healing and reconciliation without “truth”. I believe he’s going to expose the ‘establishment’ lies when they publish them. I think they expected him to remain silent and not respond to the lies but he is standing firm on his path to reconciliation with the truth….the lies will be exposed. Buckle up, it’s going to be a very bumpy rollercoaster ride. 🙌

  26. Holly says:

At least after Charles passes on, Harry won’t need to agree to any more “deals” to see his father & all the sabotage that comes with it. I’m hoping Charles leaves him a vast sum to use as security on his future trips to the UK.

    • MSJ says:

Charles will not leave him anything. It’s not gonna happen not even prayers will make that happen. Just need to be realistic. Charles does not care for Harry. Everything he’s doing with Harry is a pantomime for optics. He wants to be seen as the caring father and grandfather. That’s all it’s about for him. 🤷🏽‍♀️

    • tamsin says:

Likely Harry will get nothing from Charles. Everything goes to William, as the next monarch, to avoid taxes. If Harry inherited anything, he’d have to pay massive inheritance taxes, as Margaret’s children did. If Charles were a decent father, he would have ear-marked a marital home for Harry, and created a trust fund for his family, as he is rumoured to have done with Camilla’s children. As has been pointed out numerous times, Queen Elizabeth took care of all her children; Charles evicted his son and said there was no money to support Meghan. He didn’t bother to attend Lili’s christening. Harry obviously loves his father, and it seems to me that he wants to reconcile with his father in what seems to be his last days. He is doing everything that a loving and dutiful son would do. His conscience will be clear when Charles dies. But I don’t think there is anything Harry can do to redeem his father, and it’s heartbreaking to watch his sincere efforts twisted by the odious courtiers, the tabloids and his own family. Harry’s struggle is nicely chronicled by Kipling’s poem “If”.

  27. BeanieBean says:

I love that Harry’s gift to Charles was the standard BRF gift whenever they travel for official purposes–the famous framed photo of themselves (or the kids, in this case). Yeah, sure, normal people everything make sure the grandparents have photos of their kids, but I prefer the petty version of this gift exchange–here ya go, a picture of me!!

    • kirk says:

      IKR?
Even better – it’s a 17-month old picture of the kids, who don’t look the same anymore. Even better yet, I picture Harry telling Chuck, ‘this is a picture we made for you back before you stopped taking my calls. Again.’

  28. Me at home says:

All these lies, all within the past 2-3 months, and almost all traceable to KP/William. There’s this current set of lies about the Harry-Charles meeting. And the lie about Harry signing Archie up for Eton. The lie about the Waleses not planning an “imminent” move when Kate had already been seen picking out furniture for Forest Lodge. The lie about the heart-warming annual Charles-William get-together at Balmoral that turned out to be William hosting a shooting party for his pals.

It sounds like Sykes and a few others are blaming William/KP for most of the lies–probably because they got calls from William/KP/Jason offering up these lies. Maybe the specific quote about the Charles-Harry meeting not being the Treaty of Versailles, a quote that some tabloids called “waspish,” went directly from the mouth of Clive “The Wasp” Alderton to the tabloids’ ears. But the details about the picture and supposed formality could have come from anywhere. Certainly Alderton wouldn’t have called up journos to talk about Wales concerns like Eton or Forest Lodge.

    • MSJ says:

Palace theatre. The Windsor brand is sinking even further. Lies and deceit from all corners of the establishment. 😜

Will 2025 be another ‘annus horibilus’ for the Windsors? 😂

It’s satisfying to see them sink in their own chaotic quagmire. 🙌

  29. L4Frimaire says:

William is exhausting and pathetic. This is why Harry blanks his lazy ass. S P A C E. His vitriol is so obvious. Instead of focusing on Prince of Wales duties and real diplomacy, he obsesses over his brother and SIL. He constantly briefs against them, while interrupting his grievance fest with the occasional football match and or royal engagement William has no dignity. He is a hot, insecure mess.

  30. Mrs.Krabapple says:

I can see why Harry feels compelled to visit and have compassion for his ailing father. But Charles doesn’t look well and will probably be gone soon — a d at that point, Harry will
truly be free. Because there is no reason for Harry to ever think about, visit, care for, etc., the @sshole brother who physically assaulted him. Charkes’ death will be a form of closure and last obligation gone.

  31. blunt talker says:

I will show Prince Harry some grace because it is not easy watching your only parent dying before your eyes-Harry shows his strength and courage when he lets the evildoing tabloids in the UK know they will lie and cause him distress about his dad-the only people who needed to know about what went on the meeting is Charles and Harry-those piss ants that work for Charles and William do not care about truth or doing the right thing for the king-maybe Charles and Harry need to have a meeting with no couriers or spokespeople involved-totally private and noone knows about it.

  32. Lemondrop says:

Clive is definitely trying to stay on as William’s main advisor. An article last December suggested that Clive would be retiring but that didn’t happen. I think that came from KP because Clive may have tried to ingratiate himself with William and William wasn’t having it because of Clive’s connection to his dad. Now Clive has a chance to be useful to William and show loyalty to William by torpedoing reconciliation between Harry and Charles. I think this pairing of William and Clive is fairly recent and a direct result of the meeting this summer between Charles and Harry’s people that left William out of the loop. Clive is William’s entry back into the loop. But Clive got caught and now William is implicated too. And Charles looks bad by default. Only Harry looks like the normal adult in the room.

Why is Clive trying to hang on to a job with the royals? Yes it’s proximity to power but also influence and information. William is not a bright bulb. Clive could sell information about the royals for decades still to the right buyers. William already hides so much information from even his staff let alone his father and the rest is the family. I imagine that he will be even more isolationist as King and only a few key people will know what is going on with him. Clive wants to be that guy. There is money and power in being one of a select few who has access to an isolated King.
