Yesterday the news came out that Kendra Wilkinson was trying to block the release of a sex tape she made with an ex boyfriend (not Hugh Hefner or her husband Hank Baskett) in 2004, right after she turned 18. Wilkinson’s supposed ordeal is featured on the cover of OK! this week and my first reaction was that this was a publicity stunt. Kaiser thought that Kendra wasn’t in it, considering how outraged her publicist sounded along with the fact that she was working to legally block it. We did hear that Kendra would feature her sex tape ordeal on her reality show, though, which suggests that she’s at least using this controversy to her advantage.
Radar Online claims that Kendra tried to shop around that same sex tape about a year and a half ago, but that she’s now genuine in her efforts to stop it. So it is her ex boyfriend and co-star that’s shopping the tape, or is she doing it herself and creating a legal diversion in order to make it seem like she’s against it?
Despite waging a legal battle to bar a porn entertainment company from releasing her sex tape, Kendra Wilkinson secretly tried to shop the graphic footage herself, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.
Documents acquired by RadarOnline.com confirm that the Playboy pinup was in the process of releasing the tapes herself a year and a half ago! According to the documents, a company (which Wilkinson would own and control) would be formed and Wilkinson’s team would shop the tape around soliciting offers. Wilkinson would also be able to mandate how the tape would be edited before it was sent to potential buyers.
While several media outlets cited sources claiming the blonde beauty is “devastated” and “humiliated” by the tapes potentially going public and worried it will harm her marriage to Hank Baskett, RadarOnline.com has also learned that Wilkinson was figuring out a way to release them herself well into her relationship with the professional football player and even after the couple’s engagement was announced.
Also included in the document is a section mandating that Playboy and Hugh Hefner be informed of any potential agreement to sell the footage before the agreement is settled.
Despite her prior motivation to publicly release the footage herself, Kendra clearly has issues with someone else doing it. Her current lawyer Yael E. Holtkamp fired off a cease and desist letter to Vivid Entertainment in hopes of stopping the release of the tapes. “The video is private and highly confidential taken for private use and not for public disclosure,” the letter said. “Any exploitation of the video would be a gross violation of Miss Wilkinson’s constitutional and common law rights of privacy.”
Vivid fired back saying it still planned to distribute the tape, which they have dubbed Kendra Exposed, by the end of May. “We know that Kendra has millions of fans and we feel that it’s rare to find well-produced, hardcore footage of a star of her magnitude,” Steve Hirsch, founder and co-chairman of the company, said.

This really isn’t a surprise, and I’m voting for the “legal diversion” angle and the fact that Kendra is getting a lot of publicity out of this. Not a lot has changed for her in a year and a half (update: she had a son!) and while she does have her own reality show she’s still facing a lot of competition. Kim Kardashian also had a hand in the release of her sex tape while acting like she was humiliated and look where she’s gone since.
Update: Kendra had baby boy Hank, Jr. in December of last year, as Obvious points out below, and now that she’s a mom she may legitimately want to block the tape for her child’s sake.

a year and a half ago was before she was a mother. that changed things. she said after she had her baby she would no longer appear nude or topless because she didn’t want her son to grow up and see mommy like that (there was nothing she could do about play boy and such before hand), but she mad e a conscious decision once she had a kid.
even if this story is true, her rights should be respected now. it’s not like we haven’t changed our minds before.

Kendra has positively changed after her marriage/the birth of her son. We have all made one or two mistakes in the past. Personally I think her right should be respected in this circumstance even if this Radaronline is a reliable source.

@hmm look at Nicole Richie, she has completely cleaned up her act. She’s not still paying for her mistakes. why aren’t we extending Kendra the same courtesy as we did Nicole? just because Kendra was more public with her life and made some really stupid decisions we should make her pay for the rest of her life? her actions didn’t almost kill other people.

I don’t think videos like this should be released without the person’s permission, as it is a horrible invasion of privacy. I fully believe idiots like Kim and Paris put theirs out there to get famous (and sadly it worked).
But if this story is true and she really did shop it around, especially while dating her now-husband, it makes me think there’s financial motives at work. She may be embarrassed and she may be worried about how it will affect her kid, but if this is true there’s more to it than just that.

@Obvious: We are not convicting her to anything here , but she doesn´t seem to regret nor be ashamed of her past, not even after her son´s birth. Ofc having a child makes you ponder about your decisions both in the past and the ones you are going to make in the future, but is not gonna change who you are. And it´s not like Nicole Ritchie was aa stripper and a playmate or whatsoever, there is no comparision there.

I do get confused, though, in that if she doesn’t want it shown, that her rights as a participant in the video aren’t being honored. Photographers have to get permission to use photographs, and even the Girls Gone Wild girls have to give some kind of permission for their images to be used on the videos. (Even if it’s a sign hanging on a post.) So if one of the two, or more, people in a sex tape don’t want to be shown, it seems like it would be easy to stop it.

While I like both Nicole Ritchie and Kendra, I think I would rather have ‘stripper’ in my past than drugs and DWI, which could have the potential to kill someone. JMO, but I think Kendra is really turning her life around. With a child, her ways of thinking must have changed how she feels in general.

This link explains a law which states that someone cannot have their face shown in a pornographic film unless they sign paperwork stating that it is in fact them on the tape, and that they are over 18. If Kendra doesn’t sign, then they will have to blur her face out in the video.
If her face is not blurred, and she’s still crying that she is a victim, it is sheer bs and she willingly signed the paperwork.
That said I really like her, and believe that people can truly change their minds, but I doubt celebrities’ abilities to avoid any move that will gain them even a marginal amount more attention. They are just attention-wh*res and narcissists by nature.

She(Kendra) actually does have a drug past… Saw it on E! True Hollywood Story. You know if you do things like this while being young and stupid you are still responsible for your actions being naive is not an excuse! With that being said people should not distribute sex tapes is so disgusting and awful but you live with your actions. Next time make better judgment dumb a**.

This is a PUBLICITY STUNT. They wouldnt be able to release it without her consent. Vivid is playing along with her to make more money. The more they hype it up and she hypes it up, the more money they will make off of it.
Im guessing her show hasnt been pulling the ratings and this is her attempt to stay relevant, no different than the Paris and Kim tapes…ALL PUBLICITY

just for the record, it actually CAN work that way, i am absolute living proof. having children brought out all of the wonderful qualities inside of me that i wasn’t using while i was out busying partying in clubs and parties in Philly and NY all the time, things like patience, warmth, unconditional undying love for another human being besides yourself, you know…all those kind of good things that mothers are supposed to be…. i’m all of them now, every single one of them, and proud of it.

from what i am reading, if i understand it correctly, when she was shopping it around herself she was going to be creating a company to sort of distribute or produce it from or whatever, and in doing that (like the article says) she would have the ability to edit the tape before it went out to the public for sale. So i’m under the impression now that i guess since that deal fell through she is probably not given the advantage of editing now, which would probably suck for her because the quote from Vivid says that it’s “hardcore footage” So………… i am guessing that she wouldnt have really minded if the sex tape went out with some slightly kinky stuff…you know, more soft core stuff, but now it is going out through Vivid and she has lost the right to edit out any parts that she doesnt want the public to see and if it’s really as “hardcore” as Vivid says then it probably really shows her full on having sex and i doubt that she is comfortable with that aspect of it, hopefully out of respect for her poor husband (can you imagine?!?) and her son growing up and possibly seeing a video of his mom literally having sex with some man other than his father.
I had read an article a while back when that whole McSteamy threesome sex tape came out that the public and people were kind of getting sick of these “Sex Tapes that weren’t actual “Sex Tapes.” So maybe that deal fell through because the distributors didn’t think it would sell like that since the market was already oversaturated with barely soft core celebrity tapes that probably got more internet buzz than actual sales, now its coming out like this and she isnt happy about it.
and of course, i could totally be wrong, and this could all be to drum up some press. i mean,honestly, i can be incredibly naive about this crap sometimes…maybe i am just really stupid and this is what her team wants us to think. i honestly dont see her as being smart enough to try to orchestrate this whole thing for publicity. the girl is sweet as can be, but she’s kind of idiot.

The bottom line here is if you don’t want something to come back and bite you on the ass, don’t do it. We all make mistakes, but not all of us act like we don’t have a future that may be impacted by the choices we make.
I know I have an exemplary mother, because I learned early on about the ripple in the pond: what I do does not only affect me, it creates ripples that go all the way to the edge of the pond and back, touching everything (or everyone) on the pond.

Not to defend Kendra, but wouldn’t it be worse if she was a wife and mother and STILL had the same lifestyle, such as posing nude/doing sex tapes?
It’s obvious she’s far from perfect, just like other people in the spotlight, just like the rest of us. I’m not sure how much shame she’s supposed to show about her past. Maybe she figures it’s out in the open anyway, so all she can do is change her behavior for the sake of her new family.

I don’t agree that “once a whore, always a whore”. Maybe in people’s perceptions, but not in reality – MOST people grow and change through life, if they have any brains at all, and can other people the freedom to do the same.
If she had hurt someone else, maybe I’d judge her harshly, but I don’t think a videotape of one’s self having sex with someone is horrible. Poor judgment in this day and age, but not “bad” or immoral.

Obvious and Celebitchy: Where Kardashian is today is entirely the result of media and public in the USA. Seriously. Jump out of your little blog box and have a look. Who would care for Kardashian if her vagina view wasn’t so well promoted via the media to the public… thus accepted by the first and subsequently by the latter. BTW: Here in the oh-so-not-fashionable Europe, 99% of all people have no idea who Kardashian is. The same goes for Wilkinson. I guess I’d have more sympathy if she hadn’t been trying to sell it before. I can understand wanting to block it for her child, but she set that boat in motion when she let it be known however long ago that she was willing to put a tape on the market. They don’t care if she changed her mind. They know its her cause she was shopping it around and now they have it and will make money off of it with or without her. Now she’ll have to deal with it as a mom which is what she would have had to do if she had released it herself beforehand.
