Ashton Kutcher: Demi Moore is a “genetic freak”

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher arrive at Time Magazines 100 Most Influential People Gala at the Time Warner Center in New York

For some strange reason, Nightline sat down with Ashton Kutcher for an extensive and wide-ranging interview. Dude? What? ABC News promotes the interview with this: “In a wide-ranging interview with McFadden, Kutcher, 32, talked about everything from the changing media to his personal chef to the chances that he’ll have children with his wife, Demi Moore. He even talked about the gun he keeps under his bed.” Shiver. It sounds like a threat! Star Magazine has an advanced copy of the interview, which airs tomorrow night:

After five years of marriage, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore still get asked about their plans to have a baby. Surely Demi’s biological clock is ticking fast at 47, so is it even possible to conceive a child together at this point?

“I think my wife is a genetic freak,” Ashton jokes to Nightline’s Cynthia McFadden in an interview to air Thursday. “I’m not worried.”

The bigger question now is whether Ashton and Demi want to be tied down raising a baby. The answer: “I don’t know… it’s ‘I don’t know,'” says Ashton, who has helped raise Demi’s three daughters from her marriage to ex-husband Bruce Willis.

“There is something attractive about our third girl gaining some independence,” the 32-year-old says. “I get to walk the dogs in the morning because she can drive herself to school now, there is a level of independence that we’ve never had since our relationship started, and an ability to spend time together doing things that we might want to take advantage of. Because in our relationship we’ve always had kids.”

Ashton, who has become quite the activist for social injustice, explains, “We get to do a lot of things now, and having Bruce as such a great partner in raising the kids, affords us a lot. There is something very attractive about what we can do in the world and for the world, given that responsibility in a different place.”

Well, Demi is some kind of freak, I’m not sure if we should call it “genetic”. Although I’m sure Demi is working on some gene replacement therapy, all in the hopes of keeping her face tighter than… Adam Shankman’s pants. See, I started that sentence and I didn’t know how to finish it. In truth, there’s nothing tighter than Demi’s face.

Now, the qualms about calling Demi a “genetic freak” aside, I love how Ashton talks about his stepdaughters. And I buy it – I think he’s probably a very involved and loving stepfather, and I love all of the ways he uses “our” and “we”. It sounds like it’s for real, doesn’t it?

ABC News also released some of Ashton’s quotes about Brittany Murphy. When asked about if he’s made any sense about her death, Ashton said: “I don’t think you can, I don’t know if you try to make sense of it or not…I just celebrate who she was… She was like the person who walked in the room and she was always the first person to dance. You know when you go to a party and everybody is standing around, and the music is going — and you know sooner or later everyone is going to dance. She was always the first person to dance. And I just try to connect to that and celebrate who she was and how she was, and not make sense of it, ’cause there is no sense of making sense of it.” Sad. And he sounds honest too – I always got the feeling they had a bad breakup and he really broke her heart.

    preach!

i am totally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel myself (my kid from my previous marriage will be in college in 2012).

me and my beau were talking about babies a few weeks ago and are like kids, shmids…lets backpack through tuscany soon!

so ashton, i feel ya on that! 🙂

p.s. – you can always sponsor a disadvantaged child, too. jussayin.

  2. wow... says:

and this sentence suppose to be a compliment?!

  3. Strawberry says:

    Blah, he’s such a media wh**re. Can’t stand him!

  4. Jeri says:

Brittany was on Letterman shortly after the breakup, Letterman said something about Ashton & Demi’s getting together showed Ashton did not care about age; Brittany popped up with “and Demi doesn’t care about size.” She did say “just joking” but she didn’t say it very loud.

  5. Deb says:

She looks dopey in the first pic and he needs to SHAVE and comb his hair…..like a big boy.

  6. jule says:

Her clock is ticking fast????? Her clock stopped 5 years ago, you moron!!!

  7. She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named says:

yeah, right, she probably has him convinced that she’s “all natural.”

I was with my college boyfriend for FOUR years and had him convinced that I never, ever, farted. Ever.

It’s surprising how easy it is to fool someone who’s even a year younger than you. The possibilities for her are endless… 🙂

  8. UrbanRube says:

Here in L.A., Jule, there are plenty of women in their mid- and even late 40’s who give birth naturally…

  9. Vi says:

bruce is great help raising the kids. well as their actual father i’m sure that he’ll be pleased to hear his ex’s toyboy is so happy with him

  10. Bonfire Beach says:

I NEVER thought they’d make it this long so… good for them I suppose. I’m totally meh about both of them.

  11. pumak says:

omg she looks gorgeous… just hope she still looks that gorgeous and radiant after he leaves.. cause its the natural progress of things in this stupid life

  12. Heaven-bound says:

I’m starting to see the “granny” look on her. I don’t know for how long she will be able to hold the fort until it “collapses”.

  13. Kolby says:

There is no earthly reason why they should appear to be the same age. None whatsoever. If Demi wants us to believe she’s had no plastic surgery, she shouldn’t spend so much time standing next to her 32-year old ex-model husband.

  14. The Bobster says:

When dumbass Kelso first started drilling, he struck oil. Now all he’s getting is a dry hole.

  15. padiddle says:

Wasn’t it rumored that he was unspeakably horrible to Brittany Murphy…teasing her about being fat all the time and driving her to an eating disorder? I remember this around the time they broke up.
@Vi – didn’t catch that at first, but yeah, if anything ASHTON is great help to Bruce and Demi raising their daughters.

  16. freckles says:

LOL Vi, that’s exactly what I was thinking too. I like Ashton well enough, and maybe Demi could have a child right now. But if he wants kids of his own he’ll have to make that decision like, yesterday. Who knows when menopause will strike, and even if she did get pregnant now the chance for a genetic mutation like Down’s like, triples after 40 and the risk only goes up after that. At least that’s what I remember from Biology in high school… ahem.

  17. sdcs says:

Um, not sure you’d want to backpack thru tuscany; i was just there-it’s pretty non backpacky. but beautiful.
we had our 9 yr old with us-and we did use backpacks(: Tuscany is great for kids, and adults. Why not have your cake and eat it too?

  18. Marjalane says:

After having seen the “bee stung face” picture last week, I’m not all that agreeable to saying she’s a genetic freak….maybe just the freak part.

  19. Novaraen says:

She is too old for babies…in fact any woman in her 40’s has no business getting pregnant. For goodness sake…you will be pushing 60 when your kid graduates high school!!!

These two don’t need to procreate anyway….seriously.

  20. Green Is Good says:

Countdown to Ashton getting caught with a 20 year-old stripper in 3…2…1…

  21. jule says:

UrbanRube — born and raised in Los Angeles, only 7 years younger than Demi and if you think the women here are giving birth naturally in their mid to late 40s…you are delusional. Go take a peak at the waiting room of your local fertility clinic and you will see about 20 Demi’s sitting there…btw, there are many doctor’s who won’t even consider a woman her age.

  22. original kate says:

    well, someone’s a freak.

  23. Emmy says:

#8, no one is giving birth NATURALLY in their late 40s.

  24. Scout says:

They are both freaks of a different kind.

  25. Maggie says:

She’s too old to have babies…..

  26. Confuzzle says:

    Two gigantic douchebags.

  27. cara says:

notice how unhappy ashton looks lately?
she still is gaga over him and he looks disinterested in her.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they broke up at some point

  28. Camille says:

@ Vi: That is exactely what I thought! AK is such a tool!

  29. Maritza says:

She is more into him than he is to her. I think he is getting tired of her insecurity.

  30. Cruisin Through says:

I think Demi looks great, but is her hairline back farther than it used to be? Would that be from a face lift or some kind of plastic surgery? If she had anything done it was done well but I find myself stsring at her hairline in every pic. Something just looks off.

  31. onyx says:

does anyone remember a couple of years back when everyone speculated that Demi was pregnant, and she clearly was hiding something in her mid-section and then it went away. I think she did the in-vitro and probably had “complications” and got rid of it.
yes, being 42 myself I think it is selfish and idiotic to try to make happen again, what nature didn’t intend that way. I feel sorry for him, sooner or later he is going to realize that he missed out on something, and I’m not just talking the baby part.

  32. SolitaryAngel says:

Um, onyx—she was pregnant, almost 5 months and had a miscarriage. I doubt she thought of it as the baby “going away”.

  33. noonoo says:

She looks gorgeous and though I cannot stand either of them and their tourist stops for twitter shots in Haiti I do suspect they actually like each other. The only thing thta causes me to pause is that Demi looks SOOOO amazing esp when they met, its as though Ashton really is in denial about her age. At some point people start to look old. I wonder if it will bother him then? I hope not.

  34. onyx says:

    @um, solitary angel,
is this something she told the press or something you personally witnessed? because she also said she never had any plastic surgery. consider the source, Ms. Expert.

  35. bellaluna says:

The first thing I thought when I read “having Bruce as such a great partner in raising the kids” was:
Jerk, they’re his kids! If anyone’s the partner here, it’s you.

I highly doubt there will be DM/AK children unless they use a surrogate, and maybe donated eggs. If they were going to have children, that time’s long passed.

  36. Tru says:

she’ll lie and say she carried and birthed the baby, just like she claims to have had no facial surgery.

    a big bunch of lies.

  37. Trey says:

    She’s a SUPAH FREAK! SUPAH FREAK! She’s super freaky… nowwoowowwwoo….

  38. Orbit says:

    No, that’s Rumer.

  39. Johnthing says:

They are so full of themselves.

  40. txsl says:

They are beautiful! I hope I can afford to get done whatever Demi has had done when I am her age.

  41. Lola says:

My grandmother had a baby at 40 after having 6 children. She was devastated and embarrassed. Her 24 year old daugher was having a child at the same time. Therefore, my aunt and brother are only a few months apart. If a pregnancy happens after 35, it happens but to try to have children after 35 is egotistical. There are plenty around to adopt. A child is a child. Give it up 35+ women! I had my last child at 33 (not planned) and was extremely worried about Downs Syndrome and abnormalties until a specialist said don’t worry until you hit the 35 year old mark. The RISKS INCREASE DRAMATICALLY AT 35. My partner is a youth and child worker and sees so many learning disabilities and other problems with children from older mothers. It is not natural. Demi and Ashton should take the lead of other celebrities and give a disadvantaged child a good home and love!
