Britney may reunite with former manager Larry Rudolph

The behind-the-scenes campaign to revive what’s left of Britney Spears’ career- that is, if she still wants one- has taken another positive step. Britney’s longtime manager, Larry Rudolph, is in talks to begin representing the fallen star again. Rudolph got the cold shoulder from Brit after working with her parents to get her checked into rehab the first time around. After Brit stayed at Promises just long enough to realize she didn’t like being bossed around, she went off on a bizarre tirade against Rudolph and her parents. This was shortly before the head-shaving incident. After Britney dropped Rudolph as her manager, the door was wide open for faux-manager/creep extraordinaire Sam Lutfi to worm his way in.

As Britney Spears continues to strive to get her personal and professional lives back in order, OK! has learned she’s turned to a familiar face for help — former manager Larry Rudolph. Though the pair had parted company a year ago, sources confirm exclusively to OK! that the “Toxic” songstress has once again been taken under Larry’s wing.

Larry and Brit share a long and bumpy history. He was the visionary who discovered the young star Britney and shepherded her career from teen pop tart to international superstar. And when her life began to spiral dangerously out of control in the weeks and months following her Oct. 2006 divorce from Kevin Federline, it was Larry who Britney’s parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears, turned to for help getting her into rehab.

After her brief stint at the Promises clinic in Malibu, Brit went public with her ill-feelings toward Larry, chastising him on camera in a bizarre, disjointed rant, for what she viewed as siding with her folks against her.

However, Brit’s dad has always been open about his positive feelings toward Larry, even publicly thanking Larry for his efforts. And now Jamie, who has continued to think the world of Larry both as a manager and as a friend who has Britney’s best interests at heart, has finally convinced Britney to let him take over the reins of her recently resurgent career.

[From OK! Magazine]

Let’s just pause to examine this for a moment, shall we? “Recently resurgent career.” Britney has had one guest appearance on a mediocre sitcom. For other popstars who’ve sold as many CDs as she has, that kind of career move would be deemed pathetic, bordering on desperate. But I suppose it’s all relative. I hope Larry Rudolph realizes that this is not the Britney of 1999. Putting her back in that grueling schedule of recording a CD and going on a massive world tour is not what she needs right now. Hopefully he gets that, and gives her just enough work to keep her out of trouble but not so much that she cannot take care of herself. He does seem to care about her welfare, and even tried dodging the subpoenas of K-Fed’s attorney, Mark Kaplan, during their custody battle, saying at the time that he “never wanted to do anything to hurt Britney.”

Update by Celebitchy: I forgot that I downloaded this photo of Britney going to the dentist on 3/26/08, from WENN. It’s a really crappy photo but I may as well include it. She needs a new weave.

  1. Not again! Just open your dance studio Britney. (sigh.)

  2. I honestly think this is great for Britney. Larry Rudolph was the only person who cared about Britney and her career and when he left, everyone started taking advantage of Britney.

  3. I’m agreeing with Kimberlee on this one. I don’t think she needs the stress of a resurgent career. A nice little dance studio where she can teach little girls how to do the moves, and they can look up to her as an idol, and she goes home every day at 5:00 p.m. That’s what she needs, a calm lifestyle.

  4. I think Brit thrives on that career, and I think she might go crazy without it. But at this point….I don’t know. I don’t wanna throw in the supporting-britney-towel now, but I just don’t know how realistic a career is anymore.

  5. Hello- The only reason Brit is not on top is because she does not want to be, do you think anyone would turn down a interview with her??? Oprah, Ellen?? It is obvious with the rating success of HIMYM people still want to see her and if I remember correctly the VMA got huge ratings too…and she has a third single off her blackout cd that is zooming up the charts. For someone without a career she is doing quite well.

  6. Britters….. RUN AWAY!!!

I really don’t see why generally people are seeing this as positive. If I’m reading the reports right, it’s THIS bastard that marketed her as jailbait and put her into the stressful workload that probably triggered her breakdown in the first place.

And ugh. The brown boots. She’s having a bad day again then.

  7. Mairhead, that’s an older photo, but she has been sporting the Brown Boots of Mental Illness lately. Can you imagine the smell coming from those things when she takes them off? Yikes!
