Madonna’s daughter Lourdes blogs for her fashion line

Madonna’s 13 year-old daughter Lourdes has written a blog entry about her new junior’s fashion line for Macys, Material Girl. It’s funny, cute, and Lourdes comes across like a normal 13 year-old girl. She explains that she’s inspired by 80s fashion and vintage clothing. She also writes about her favorite band and says she’s excited to get the chance to dye her hair for the first time once she turns 14. Lourdes is technically the creative director for the line, which Macy’s credits to her mother, Madonna. According to Madonna it’s all Lourdes’ work, though, and she was only peripherally involved. Here’s a segment of Lourdes’ blog, with more at the source:

Helluuur thurrrr, I’m Lola and this is my first blog entry so it’s kind of like ummmm….

I’m just going to use this blog entry to tell y’all a little bit about myself. I’m 13 and I’ll be 14 in October, so I can’t wait for that because I am FINALLY allowed to dye my hair… THANK YOU MOTHER!! My favvvv color is black (just because it goes with everything) and my least favorite color is brown (because it resembles the color of something QUITE gross).

I am totally obsessivo about 80’s shorts… You know the kind that makes your butt look kinda big, with a grunge-looking shirt tucked in. It’s kinda nerdy but I love it. And the 80’s are another huge obsession of mine, which is totally amazingly awesome because Material Girl…HELLO! It’s like 80’s themed, which pretty much rocks, so yeah. I’m still in love with brogues or as some people call them “oxford shoes”. I haven’t found a good sandal so I’m on like a search right now.

I’m in London right now and the best stores ever here,I love the vintage stores down in Whitechapel, also a lot of hot guys hang there just in case y’all care. Music wise My Chemical Romance is THE BEST BAND EVER for realzzzz. They are so awesome it hurts. If you don’t know who they are just… go away OR download their songs.

So, as you may know, Material Girl is coming out soon… HOLLA HOLLA! Ok and this is pretty awesome I will send a FREE t-shirt to the first person who can tell me in which big store the opening of Material Girl is….how cool rigghhhhhht???Annnnnnd I am 4 realz excited for the opening which I will give you the exact dates for in my next blog entry, so stay tuned for more.

[From Macys]

I grew up in the 1980s and at one point my fashion sense was influenced by Sixteen Candles and Desperately Seeking Susan. I wore headbows, bangle bracelets and menswear jackets and went through a short-lived neon phase. In theory it sounds cute and harmless to bring back 80s fashion but from the brief samples I’ve seen of Lourdes’ line it looks like crap Taylor Momsen would wear. It’s all a little too short and a little too provocative, with bustiers showing bare midriffs and cleavage and short tutu skirts.

Yesterday while visiting relatives I witnessed my cousin’s 11 year-old daughter trying to argue the case for some jean shorts that just about pushed the limit of acceptable leg coverage. They weren’t too revealing, but they were tight. “Mom,” she said “these aren’t like Miley Cyrus’s shorts.” We used to say that we weren’t as bad as Madonna.

LOL She does sound cute and sweet. It made me laugh. As far as the clothes, I haven’t seen them but if they look like something Taylor Mormenson would wear that don’t sound good. Unless its like those cute tops, I love her rocker tights and fashion jewelry. So I may have to scoop it out.

  2. gabs says:

awe thats so cute. and shes like, totally right, like, My chemical romance is the bestest bestest eva!!! LOL. How strange that Madonna seems to be a normal mom

  3. Rx says:

I soften a little bit towards Madonna when I see her with Lola. Simply because I love my mom so much and understand that unconditional bond of love between mother and daughter. You can tell in these pictures that they have that bond. If only Madonna can just be a mom and let that “pop star not aging gracefully” sh!t just go, I would love her all over again.

  4. serena says:

ahahhahah is miley cyrus now compared to madonna? +dies+
I think lourdes is kinda funny and cute, and right ’cause madge seems quite serious about education.

  5. Emma says:

    4 reeeaalz!

Aw. She reminds me of my little sister. That’s kind of precious. And normal.

  6. rraven says:

Awww, she’s sweet, I remember being her age and talking at the speed of light excited about everything..cute

  7. gloaming says:

Very good point about the Miley Cyrus/Madonna comparisons CB!

My parents scoffed at Madge when I was young the same way I scoff at Miley now. I used to think they were oul’ fogey’s. *deep sigh*
Luckily my wee one’s very modest with her dress sense so I don’t have to worry.

But I must be an oul’ fogey now too, because to me that pic of Lola on her blog’s a bit too Lolita-esque for my liking.

    Beautiful girl though…

  8. Danielle says:

I can tell I’m getting old because reading her blog annoyed the hell out of me LOL

  9. mockey says:

you are sure she’s 13, I thought she was 14

  10. Maritza says:

Madonna should go back to her original color hair, that blond does her no favors, she looks every bit her 50 something years old. Lourdes looks so cute with her braces.

  11. GatsbyGal says:

Ugghhhhh, I can’t stand to read stuff that young teenage girls write. They always come across so stupid and vapid, like they’re twirling their hair and chewing gum while they’re typing.

  12. Brooke says:

Would it cause you pain to know that the rumor is that the supposed model for this campaign is actually Taylor Momsen????? EW! Brand kill right there.

  13. denise says:

I love Lourdes’s style, she reminds me of my daughter.

  14. The Bobster says:

Is the new style to dress like a bag lady?

  15. Corina says:

I think when you’re 13 it’s really the only time you can chew gum and twirl your hair while writing…cut the kid a break, she’s barely a teenager and seems like a nice girl. Using the vernacular of her generation isn’t a crime. 🙂

  16. Jillian says:

AWWWW Lourdes is adorable! I was like that when I was thirteen too! MCR and everything. XD

  17. bros says:

I cant believe everyone thinks she wrote this. its a tricky marketing ploy and the blog entry is trying way too hard. for a girl raised in london, supposedly without a TV or access to much media as Vadge is a stricty strict mom, on a macrobiotic diet with no sweets and dairy, a limited peer group and home schooled (just a guess), it doesnt automatically produce a blog entry that clearly looks like it is trying too hard to convince me that a normal 13 year old wrote it. there are some odd constructions and inconsistencies in the entry which makes me pretty sure they have a clever writer making sure the right things get plugged.

  18. Jeri says:

    I like her & think she’s a real beauty.

  19. Tia C says:

Just a hunch, but I bet this line has way more success than Lilo’s stupid “6126” line that never seems to take off fully. Whether or not she actually wrote that blog, Lola seems like a cool kid with her wits about her.

  20. Mistral says:

That’s funny. It almost sounds like a parody of teen speak, but there it is. Best Band Ever = My Chemical Romance?!! LOL to that. She definitely makes me want to head on down to Whitechapel to see the hot guys, for realzz.

  21. GatsbyGal says:

@Mistral – THAT’S it! That’s what so weird, it’s almost like an older person is trying to sound 13. It just seems TOO “teenage.”

  22. birdgherl says:

All that money on the best private schools and this is how she writes? *cringe*

  23. Mistral says:

I know, GG! At first I thought, “What assistant wrote this blog entry?” But then I figured she or Madonna must have at least signed off on it, because Madonna is too media savvy/image conscious, and too much of a control freak, to let anyone put her or her daughter’s name on something like that without approval…

  24. Aussie Mama says:

love her humor, although i would say the whole blog would be very carefully scripted, to make her sound supoer cute n sassy, which by the way she is.
the girl is a true beauty and with mum’s $$$ and influence, how can she go wrong. she has it made, no matter what she attempts.

  25. Kay says:

Jeez, she needs to learn to fuckin’ type. I don’t get if she was trying to go for the “totezz kyoot && ironiic” look with her blogpost, but it makes me ashamed to be a teenager. Everyone here says she’s “Soooo cute, omg I just want to pinch her cheeks!” It’s annoying and stupid to type like an idiot.

  26. Jonique says:

Well, yeah, it does all seem a bit Momsen-esque, but I looked at the clothes, and I like them. Except when I watched the teaser video for the line, and I saw blonde stringy hair, but no face. THEN I saw that cross ring she’s been wearing for weeks and I got it. Taylor Momsen is the face of Material Girl. Hate it now.

    I like these two 🙂

  35. Aman says:

I think she is cute.I like her style, beauty and charm.Madonna must be happy.

  36. donalda says:

Madonna should stick with the classy vintage Hollywood style. She looks sophisticated and sexy in those Evita era fashions. The crazy fur and slutty slit lace dress needs to go unless she’s performing. She doesn’t have to perform in public anymore. She’s earned her stripes! You’re somebody’s mommy, Madonna! Not that I don’t think Mommy’s can be sexy, but sexy in your twenties is different from sexy 30, 40 and beyond. BTW, I think Madonna looks REAL good for a 50-something white lady with plastic surgery. Janice Dickerson and the cat lady she is not. It’s funny, but if she just aged normally everyone would jump all over her for letting herself go. Seems like you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t as an over 40 celebrity unless you want to sink into an asexual stereotype.

  37. lacoste uk says:

I think the post is good for us.but sexy in your twenties is different from sexy 30, 40 and beyond. BTW,
