Kristen Stewart’s worst magazine cover ever

kristen1

And even then, it’s not absolutely horrible. Sure, Kristen Stewart looks like a zombie with bad posture. Yes, her mouth is open and her hair looks greasy-wet. But it’s still not hideous. Go Fug Yourself jokes that Kristen’s legal team should consider a lawsuit. Kristen probably thinks it’s high-fashion. Maybe it is.

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I thought Robert Pattinson was handling his fame a lot better with the Eclipse promotional tour. I haven’t been prepared to say the same about Kristen, what with her constant hyperbolic flubs and, you know, magazine covers like this. However, Kristen thinks she’s doing really well. Really:

“I am much better at this kind of stuff than I was before,’ Kristen says as we catch up to talk about Eclipse, the third instalment in the Twilight movie franchise. ‘I used to be really uncomfortable. I mean, who wants to talk about themselves all day?”

Some might suggest that Hollywood A-listers love talking about themselves all day but Stewart is not your typical Tinseltown starlet. In person she is bright and articulate. “You talk all day,’ she says, ‘and you don’t have different answers to the same questions. It becomes tiring. You do your job, why should you then have to talk about your personal life?” she wonders. “I find that a bit weird.”

She might find life in the media spotlight ‘a bit weird’, then, but Stewart is very much at home on screen. She took her first acting job at just nine years of age and by the time she was 11 she’d already shot 2002’s Panic Room with Jodie Foster.

“Starting young was never a problem,” she says. “I didn’t really enjoy all the bitchiness at school. I guess I have always felt older than I am. I felt that I should have been an adult at age five. I thought I was an adult when I was 12.”

“I just think that Bella is written very well and she matures gradually,” she
says, deflecting the conversation. “I think Bella resonates with people because she is extremely well written, and while she goes through very simple emotions, they are always very extreme and very sensory. It’s not like she is ever very confused; she just fully inhabits whatever emotion she is feeling. She is so dire all the time!”

[From Metro UK]

I think Kristen’s maturity is hit-or-miss, honestly. Yes, she seems to have the confidence of a girl who doesn’t need her peers’ approval. However, I do think she still has moments where she just comes across as even younger than her 20 years, where she seems very bratty and insolent. Is her attitude improving through the years? Eh. Not really.

Ha, she looks like that in every candid photo. Why is this news or were people blind before and didn’t notice her gaping mouth?

  2. Eileen Yover says:

Wow. And here I thought that she could be passed off as half way attractive when made up…but there goes that theory. She needs to retire to some nice pot farm and practice breathing without opening her mouth.

  3. audrey says:

she looks just like a young Joan Cusak in that pic!

  4. aenflex says:

I cannot stand this girl! If she is so inconvenienced and irritated by her celebrity, why did she start acting as a young child? Was she forced? Doubt it. She only has one look, no matter who is dressing or styling her, or what part she is playing, it’s always the same old flat, snotty look. And her shoulders are aweful. Uhg.

  5. Holly says:

It grieves me to admit that I saw “Eclipse” this weekend. I have a mother and three younger sisters who really wanted to see it, and spending time with them was on the agenda. Worst movie I’ve ever seen. I think this Kristen person is a beautiful girl, but her acting is completely wooden. It was embarrassing to watch. Not that any of the rest of them were talented either. I have to disagree with Kaiser and say that that magazine cover does absolutely nothing for her. But the fans will eat it up, like they do everything else related to this franchise.

  6. Tia C says:

Maybe by always using that dopey, open-mouthed, emotionless, mouth-breathing pose, she’s trying to detract attention away from her white trash underbite. With her mouth closed it’s more noticeable. Random thought…

  7. XYZ says:

I have never seen the craze about her.

  8. No Sensei says:

is she actually doing the teenager slouch without irony? “You’re are so unfair I haate yooou!”

  9. original kate says:

WTF? she looks like a zombie, shuffling around looking for brains.

  10. megs says:

does she smoke a lot of pot? she looks like she’s always high.

  11. Jeri says:

Reading all the comments, it’s easy to understand why she is uncomfortable doing interviews. Sounds like everyone hates her. That could make ya a tad uncomfortable.

  12. ses says:

@megs: I agree, she always looks super-stoned and half-lidded in publicity photos. And not just the ones caught at a bad moment. But in the Twilight movies, her eyes are open, like a normal person. I think she deals with her red carpet discomfort by sparking pre-event(maybe even during).

  13. gen says:

I don’t hate her at all. I just think she is very uncomfortable with her celebrity. But she does always look stoned. I know she smokes, but maybe she should take a little break. Cause being stoned does tend to make one leave their mouth open.
Also, I would have pegged her for gay. Ever since seeing her in Panic Room even. Maybe my gaydar isn’t 100%.

  14. Kelly says:

I think she looks so pretty with the lighter hair. I do agree, though, that she needs to keep her mouth closed (literally as well as figuratively). And I say this as a life-long mouthbreather! I just try to keep it on the down-low.

  15. Iris says:

Reading these evil comments make Stewart all the more endearing to me. Although I did laugh aloud when I saw the cover. Sunday chose this awful picture on purpose, probably in hopes of the publicity. It worked, I’ve never heard of this magazine until now.

  16. connie says:

has anyone actually read these books? “written really well?” nothing about those novels is written well. I tried because they were easy ready but found them to written at a level that would be insulting to a 5th grader. And bella as a character? heinous. Her character was one of the main reasons I stopped after the 3rd book ( which if you have the time to sit down take a day or two) she was whiny and annoying, talk about the opposite of a strong female main character

  17. Lynnie says:

Will someone PLEASE guide this poor girl into some pose besides the “hand on the hip?!” It’s as bad as Paris Hilton’s stupid head down/eyes up thing.

  18. connie says:

in hindsight, that post was written terribly in attacking someone else’s writing, but im not published either!

  19. Obvious says:

I wouldn’t say I hate Kristen, i just find half of what she says moronic, her acting terribly wooden, her mouth open and lip biting terribly annoying and her bad posture aggravating. But I don’t HATE her.

I do think girl needs to plunk down some of that Twilight money for acting classes and with a coach or someone to help get her more comfortable with her status. it’s really pathetic at this point how uncomfortable she is, someone should really be helping her with that.

  20. Beth says:

She looks high or the photographer said stop and relax and continue to take pictures. I don’t think that Kristen bratty. She just doesn’t like the celebrity and hoopla and doesn’t know or want to hide it.

  21. andrea says:

there needs to be a law passed or something prohibiting celebrities from complaining about being asked about their personal lives when they are just “doing their job”. you’re a multimillionaire at 20 b/c you pretend to be a vampire or something, wear great clothes and see the world. yes, there will be some annoying things that come along with it – it’s called a tradeoff, life is full of ’em and yours is really not so bad at all.

  22. yty says:

That picture is from that photoshoot she did with Nylon Magazine in 2008.

  23. CC says:

“Bella is written very well and she matures gradually”?

    AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

    now THAT’s a comedy line.

  24. hellen says:

No, I disgree – that cover IS absolutely horrible.

  25. NoirlovesCats says:

If any other actress or celebrity acted in public like this ungreatful Hollywood brat they would be crucified.

But this “gentle” flower needs to be excused and proteced against the haters who beat on an innocent mature stabile non-attention craving little bitch./sarcasm

Yes, the public is wrong not her and her personality.

  26. Katija says:

I have a gap in my teeth, waaay back in my mouth between my molars. I get the exact same expression on my face when I’m trying to suck food out of it as K-Stew has on this magazine cover.

  27. Jillian says:

LOL KRISTEN STWEART, CAN YOU READ?!?!?!!? Bella and edward are not characters. they are plot devices with legs.

  28. lucy2 says:

That is a terrible shot of her. When she smiles, she’s pretty, but that cover is a bad one.

I have to agree about the books not being well written. I’ve read some gorgeously written books, and those were not even close. Plus there was no sense of character, probably because all the leading character cares about is her sparkly boyfriend, and has no life without him.

  29. Lulu says:

Her, Pattison… Both very tired vampires.
Well, all we do know now, is that fame sucks and makes people look like this.

  30. Kelaa Khaa says:

On the cover photo, KS reminds me a little of John Lithgow.

  31. Angel says:

I think it is. She is certainly dealing with biased columnists better.

Also, I love this shoot. It is cleverly extenuating her ‘flaws’ by almost accentuating them, and it’s an adorable statement. Maybe if you don’t like it, you simply just don’t get it. Go figure.

Also, pretty sure this photo is way old.

  32. M says:

It looks like they used pictures from her Nylon shoot awhile back.

  33. moopsie says:

    I’m jealous of her.

  34. gg says:

Never read the books or seen the movies, never will. But I just saw Kristen in the Runaways movie and she kicked a$$! Loved it!

  35. Amanda says:

You know, reading crap like this is getting really old. Apparently, hating on Kristen is the new “cool” thing to do. *yawn* How about we stop crucifying intelligent, thoughtful 20 year old girls for being nervous in the public eye, yeah?

  36. M says:

Uh, you’re all talking shit. You don’t know her and we ALL KNOW that the crap you’re talking about her is pure jealousy or hatred of some kind. I understand it, I get angry at people I’m jealous of, its human nature. But atleast try to control it!

  37. Bullett says:

kaiser, for every god-awful picture you (apparently) love to print of kstew there are a hundred where she looks wonderful. It’s a sad form of editorializing. Learn to like her, she’s going to be around for a long, long time.

  38. M says:

Also, has it ever crossed your mind that maybe she’s ALWAYS wanted to be an actor? You know some people want to act for reasons other than being known/liked. Not all painters paint for other people.

Maybe she IS a introvert after all. I sure as hell know if I were an actor, I’d not want everyone to make a big fuss about it. Its just like any other job really, except sadly, the shit comes a part of it.

  39. nadja says:

    KRISTEN STEWART IS BEAUTIFUL.
    i love, love her.

  40. DD says:

@connie I completely agree with you. Except I had to stop after the 30th page. The story didn’t flow and just read out like some dull, badly played out 12 year old girl fantasy.
As for what Kristen says I agree with her. I would hate to have to be interviewed every day and be asked the same repetitive questions. I mean these actors have to come up with some bullshit answers that end up sounding stupid and then everyone hanging on to their every word and railing them about it afterwards. Too bad actors these days can’t just act, they have to do personal publicity tours too. I’ll take my simple job any day.

  41. DetRiotgirl says:

I can’t stand Twilight. But, I don’t have a huge hatred for this girl in specific like some of you do. She seems boring and her acting has yet to impress me. But, who knows? I’ve never seen her in anything but those crap vampire movies. The source material for those is obviously not Shakespeare. Kristen wasn’t a huge star before those movies came out, so it’s not like she could pick and choose her roles at the time. Thus, I’m going to reserve my opinion about her acting until I see her in something better. As for her looks, I actually love the new hair. It makes her look less angst ridden. She does say some stupid things in interviews. But, she’s also what? 20? I’m willing to give her a break.

  42. Bullett says:

@DetRiotgirl – if you can find the time, go dig up a kstew film called “Adventureland” from 2-3 years ago. I promise you will get a completely different take on just how compelling an actress she can be. There’s also a very decent review of it on ebert.com if you’d like to get a feel for the film before going out of your way to watch it.

  43. Isa says:

Does she have ceiling eyes? No wait it’s just one eye.

  44. Ashley says:

I loved her in the movie “Speak”.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speak_%28film%29

  45. My2Cents says:

I think Kaiser has a crush on Kirsten and that is why she is such a bitch about her.

  46. Lina says:

    @Bullett,
I saw “Adventureland” maybe half a year ago and I was surprised by her… terrible acting. As an actress she is a huge failure. KStew in every movie creates the same immature, stupid, naive and annoying character. She just doesn’t have the talent.
    @M,
If you want to act but you’re afraid of publicity, you can always choose the theatre. But if you go to Hoollywood and become some kind of celebrity, it is inevitable that you will always be in a public eye.

  47. lindsayinjail says:

That is a photoshoot from 2008. Look at how long her hair is. Anyway, i believe she will get better as she gets older. She needs some space to grow. I know I did,the media and this Twilight thing isn’t helping her either.

@Lina Right now she is a character actress that is why you see the similarity in her roles. I believe the runaways is far from what she is. Many actors started from being teen then gradually into more complicated roles as they get older. Hope she can showcase her talent.

  48. Pleister says:

Usually she is a lovely looking girl (when her mouth is closed :P), but in this picture she looks dumb.
I’m not a fan of her as an actress, but she kind of surprised me with her role in ‘the Runaways’.
