Mel Gibson’s Latina babysitter (and witness to abuse) dies

fp_5388741_gibson_mel_fp_071310

CB and I have been discussing this all morning, and it’s gotten to the point where I think she and I are two ridiculously morbid, conspiracy-loving bitches. So, Radar’s top story today is about a not-so mysterious death of someone vaguely involved in the Mel Gibson drama. The woman who died was Lucia’s babysitter, and she was the Latina woman that Mel and Oksana fought about memorably in one of their recorded telephone conversations. This woman was the one that Mel referred to as a “wetback”. And now she’s dead. Of CANCER.

Mel Gibson has been spared the eyewitness testimony of the babysitter who saw his rage first-hand — the same woman who the bigoted actor labeled a “wetback” — because she has passed away, RadarOnline.com has learned.

The woman had been battling stage four cancer for some time, but lost her fight at the weekend, we’re told.

As RadarOnline.com was first to reveal, the unnamed babysitter was an eyewitness to actor Mel’s rage before the alleged rampage at his Malibu mansion on January 6.

While Mel’s former love Oksana Grigorieva attended a basketball game for her 12-year-old son Sascha, in the hours before the brutal blow-out, the Braveheart star became enraged that his lover had left their infant daughter Lucia at home with the nanny.

As RadarOnline.com reported, she witnessed Mel storming around the house, slamming doors and growing furious.
The nanny was so frightened that she took Lucia and hid in a bedroom, according to Oksana’s statements to law enforcement authorities.

According to Oksana, the babysitter said Mel was screaming to someone on the phone, “I want to [expletive] destroy you.”

Despite the testimony from Oksana, the woman never provided a statement direct to law enforcement investigators before she died, nor did she write a declaration in support of Oksana.

While she was considered a potentially strong witness, notably, the woman left Mel’s Malibu mansion before he allegedly punched Oksana twice in the face as she held their infant daughter, leaving her with two broken veneers and a concussion.

She also became a target of the foulmouthed actor, when he has been caught on one of the now infamous recordings, referring to her as a “wetback”.

Mel implied he was going to report the staffer to immigration authorities, saying: “I will fire (name omitted) if she’s at your house. I will make it known and fire her. I’ll report her to the f*cking people that take f *cking money from the wetbacks, ok?”

[From Radar]

Is it wrong that my first thought was “how convenient for Mel”? Yes, I don’t need to ask that, I know it’s wrong. This poor woman, I’m sorry to minimize her family’s grief in the least. But it definitely sends up an alert for all of us conspiracy theorists. By the way, Mel is out of the country, and he‘s missing depositions right and left. He’s either in Fiji or on one of his private islands in the Pacific, doing God knows what (I imagine that’s some Dr. Moreau sh-t). Anyway, we’ll know for sure what Mel’s up to if Oksana’s dentist comes up “missing” in the next few days.

They have more than enough recorded evidence to convict Mel Gibson.

  2. Agent Cooper says:

Sad. I hope she can Rest In Peace.

  3. Fae says:

That poor woman. What a shitty way to spend your last few months, in the midst of all this anger.

  4. Whatever says:

Actually, TMZ has photos of Mel returning with his sons and a story that he had the baby this weekend. I’m sad for this woman, but she didn’t witness any abuse, just him screaming on the phone and slamming doors, so it’s unclear how much her testimony would have helped. Still, being sick and working around all that crazy couldn’t have helped her health. How sad for her family.

  5. jammama says:

    🙂

She probably died from Immigration fright. I hear it can be quite deadly.

  6. Ellie says:

@Whatever: verbal abuse is still abuse. and the fact that it was easy for him to explode is kind of important.

  7. Whatever says:

@Whatever: verbal abuse is still abuse. and the fact that it was easy for him to explode is kind of important.

Yeah, but the stories I read about this said he was talking to an unknown person that was not Oksana, so there is no evidence of anything regarding those two, just that he was in a rage. Not that it is ok, it isn’t. I suspect he was talking to the porn star in an attempt to keep her quiet and away from the media. Didn’t work.

  8. oxa says:

A shame it was not Mel.

  9. Whatever says:

She probably died from Immigration fright. I hear it can be quite deadly.
    ****************

Actually she probably died from lack of money and health insurance, like millions of other people in this country. What a crappy thing to say about a dead woman. How would you know her immigration status?

  10. a says:

    i agree with #8.

    this is sad all around.

  11. jammama says:

How would you know her immigration status?
    *******************************

Mel threatened to call the Immigration on her. duh.

  12. denise says:

    This story sure is twisted.

  13. GatsbyGal says:

That was the first thing I thought too, that maybe Mel had something to do with it. But cancer…yeah, I guess that rules out foul play. Unless her cancer was just a convenient excuse, and she really died from someone puncturing her with a syringe full of air, mimicking heart failure.

    I watch too much tv.

    But still.

Mel, I have my eyes on you.

Except not that closely, because you look awful.

  14. Moore says:

I agree, Fae. I can’t imagine having this as my last few months, heck having to deal with it my last year. Rest in peace, lady. I pray for comfort for her family.

  15. jc126 says:

Ugh. I can’t imagine joking that a cancer victim died of “immigration fright”. With a little smiley face, too. Really revolting.

  16. LOVE ANGELINA says:

Makes me even more aware of how callus Mel is. He name called her and wanted Oksana to fire the poor woman all while she was ill with cancer. I feel so terrible her family and I send them condolences.

  17. Whatever says:

Mel threatened to call the Immigration on her. duh.
    *****************

Mel talks out his drunken ass all the time. Means nothing.

  18. jammama says:

    @jc126

Stop being so sensitive. People die everyday, plus it’s not like you knew her. The ‘Immigration fright’ reference is really funny actually, but god rest her soul anyway. Amen. 🙂

  19. Moreaces says:

Blessing to this womans family, and on a side note, all thoes pic’s of Mel, are just hidious

  20. Kitten says:

I would say ditto @#8 except that there are kids involved. Still, hard to imagine that whole family growing up immersed in his hate. I’m sure this will all catch up to him eventually, whether it be through cancer or some other debilitating disease. You can’t be as spiteful as this man and not have it destroy you.

  21. xxodettexx says:

“Is it wrong that my first thought was “how convenient for Mel”?”

no, bc that is the first place my mind went to!

  22. bea says:

What a shame, I read she was fighting Stage 4 Cancer, cannot recall what kind, of the female kind, I think. I extend my sympathies to her family and do not feel Gibson had anything to do with this. Why spread rumors? Do you not think it possible the Sheriff’s office has already spoken to this poor woman and took what ever measures to get her on the record in this matter, one way or another? why stir it up?
Personally, I hope both Mel and Oksana are punished in some form, as they both appeared to have broken the law. As someone who was raised in an abusive home, (and yes, by hearing Oksana’s button pushing…she’s no Angel…Dalton hasn’t come out and said she’s a good mother or the Child Protection agency, have they?), I can tell you there are always two sides. She’s a bad example that would have battered women pushing buttons like that, most women live in fear that they would be severly beaten or WORRIED ABOUT THEIR CHILDREN..for their safety is first concern, always! Not fame, fortune or career. Oksana’s past from Russia where she has smeared her former husbands has now starting to reveal itself. Just google. Those reporters years ago when she was married to Dalton tried to find about these lingering rumors and Oksana’s mother threatened that ‘James Bond’ would have them shut down, destroyed, ruined, etc…Oksana’s 1st husband was no drug addict like she liked to tell everyone but he became a lawyer (she conned, blackmailed the money to make her way to England and musician waiting) the husband, Igor, became a lawyer according to his mother…the retired DOCTOR. Oksana has told many lies, it seems. Google and compare her words.

  23. Tess says:

    Errrr, Whatever.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t people in countries with socialized medicine die of cancer, too?

Or is it just here that cancer kills?

And if only we’d throw out the best health care system in the world, and model ourselves on Cuba or Venezuela, poof, we’d all live magically disease-free, not to mention utopian, lives.

  24. Kitten says:

EDIT: Just to clarify-in no way did I mean that people who die from Cancer deserve it or to insinuate that they brought in upon themselves in some way. I just meant that from my experience, hate like Mel’s is toxic and can often manifest itself in physical ailments.

  25. Whatever says:

    Errrr, Whatever.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t people in countries with socialized medicine die of cancer, too?

    ************************

No, but they get the treatments they need. Here, if you don’t have cash or insurance, you get nothing but the basics. Please, how ridiculous and don’t claim that we have the best health care system. That is just stupid. We are just above Albania and behind EVERY SINGLE developed nation in healthcare. Educate yourself before spouting nonsense.

  26. Cirque28 says:

    RIP Lucia’s nanny. Poor woman.

Oh, lord, more photos of Mel’s hideous drunk nakedness. Yikes! For all his money and success, he sure appears to be a miserable human being. No doubt some woman is to blame! Or all of them! And some Jewish people!

    (sarcasm)

@22: Yeah, how dare a battered woman “push buttons” by going to her son’s basketball game? That is totally equivalent to hitting people, having huge drunken temper tantrums, using racial epithets left and right, and making DEATH threats.

    (ditto)

  27. Tess says:

Whatever, you dwell in a utopian dream world. Canadians routinely cross the border for treatment here, including a recent government VIP who scheduled surgery here. And, my guess is that any Cuban who could come here for treatment, would.

You really should spend some time in a large, socialist country before you spout your nonsense.

  28. Leek says:

If Mel had a brain he would pay for her funeral expenses and donate money to whatever cancer she suffered from’s charity. He is so disgusting. That poor woman deserved so much better for her last days. This is the worst story of it all for me. I hate people that can’t even fake nice for the benefit of the people who are stuck watching their disastrous train wreck of a life. A life that was chosen.

  29. Whatever says:

And, my guess is that any Cuban who could come here for treatment, would.

You really should spend some time in a large, socialist country before you spout your nonsense.
    *********************

Get real. I have Canadian friends who refuse to move here for that reason, including one who works for an American company and works from home three weeks out of the month. Health care is the reason they won’t move. You are spouting nonsense. You really can’t compare a poor country like Cuba, you need to compare a developed nation to have any validity at all to your argument. The WHO has the US listed as among the worst in the DEVELOPED world. Look at all the Canadians who come here in the winter and leave again in order to keep their healthcare. I lived in Florida and they all head back before the deadline every year. You are comparing apples and oranges. And Americans routinely get their meds from Canada online pharmacies to save more than half off the cost, since the Canadian government doesn’t allow the drug companies to rob their citizens like the US does.

  30. Kim says:

I see Mel just had a car accident Sun. ran into a hillside per TMZ not injured

  31. Whatever says:

Whatever, you dwell in a utopian dream world.

And you dwell in the land of Rush and Glen Beck. Have at it, but just don’t get sick to avoid bankruptcy and homelessness.

  32. Tess says:

Whenever, when you cite WHO, your argument is suspect.

Their statistics are as untrustworthy as the UN functionaries and toadies who churn them out.

WHO, the UN, et al, share an agenda, which is blatantly anti-capatalist.

And who, by the way, are your intellectual inspirations? Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews?

  33. denise says:

America’s health care system wants to keep you sick. Big Pharma just loves that.

  34. Whatever says:

When you cite WHO, your argument is suspect.

Their statistics are as untrustworthy as the UN functionaries and toadies who churn them out.

WHO, the UN, et al, share an agenda, which is blatantly anti-capatalist.
    ***************

LMAO, you just proved my point. Say hi to Glen for me.

  35. Tess says:

Whatever…a final plea to look at the world sanely. Of course Canadians with the means to winter in Florida hurry back north to keep their socialized benefits. That’s the nature of most human beings. They like to take advantage of benefits.

But at some point socialist systems simply collapse.

Look at Greece, consider Ireland, Spain, Portugal. They’re all collapsing. The government programs are unsustainable.

  36. Hatsumomo says:

Waht Im wondering is why a woman with stage four cancer is even baby-sitting to begin with? Im a healthy 25 year old female and cant even get hired at the daycare center here. Why is a obviously sick and weak person doing taking care of an infant? Or no one really cares about the baby enough to be cared for by a healthy person?

  37. Morgs says:

    Tess I love you!!!!

  38. Morgs says:

I’m finding it kind of suspect that a stage 3 or 4 female cancer sufferer was working as a nanny. I’ve watched people die with this disease and in my experience, when you hit 3 or 4…..you’re really going to be able to be a good nanny?

  39. Whatever says:

But at some point socialist systems simply collapse.
    ***************************

The same could be said for unrestrained capitalism or do you not see that America is turning into a third world country? What is not sustainable is allowing the greed of the insurance companies and big pharma to continue to run amok. $3 billion in PROFIT pays a lot of claims. Give me a neocon break. They pay into the system, just like we pay huge premiums for insurance, but they can’t be cancelled or denied care when they actually get sick. Here, you can pay in for 50 years and get denied care when you actually need the coverage. Happens every day. Most bankruptcies are due to illness in the US.

I agree that leaving a baby alone with a dying woman with stage 4 cancer is a little crazy. It makes me question whether either of her parents are fit.

  40. nnn says:

How was did poor woman able tp work with cancer ?

If she had cancer stage 4 when she died, then she already had cancer when she was babysit. Either she didn’t know it or she knew and her clients knew too and working under thoe circumstances with all the virulent verbal attacks is also an abuse on her.

  41. Tess says:

    @ Whatever

The key differences between the US and 2nd and 3rd world countries are a vibrant middle class and respect for private property rights.

The government is regulating main street Mom and Pop businesses right out of existance. And the increasing number of instances where government is taking private property by eminent domain is very troubling.

A balance between gov regulation and free enterprise is critical and has created a system where millons of people have been free to prosper. This allows for a safety net for those who truly need it.

But gov is becoming too big and too greedy. It will kill the goose that’s been laying our nation’s golden egg.

  42. Lucy says:

To Tess and Whatever (I’m pretty sure you’re the two debating Canadian health care?)

I am Canadian, and the health system here is a very good reason to remain living here. Yes, some people have gone to the States for certain surgeries, including a government “VIP”. There are also cases of people going to different provinces for different surgeries.

Certain surgeries, for certain people, who are unable to wait out the wait list – but can afford to go to the States, go to the States. But really, it’s really not as big of a problem as news outlets make it seem – even our own Canadian outlets over-exaggerate the wait lists. For a minor surgery, I only waited 4 months. To me, that is not long – and it was MINOR surgery. And being a University student on loans, there is no way me or my family could afford something like that. So I waited my 4 months, content in knowing that I would not get deeper into debt.

Also, this talk of socialism. I myself lean more towards capitalism, but would not identify myself in an either or. Our current federal government in office is NOT socialistic, they are conservative. And yet, universal health care remains and the country has not collapsed.

Some provinces are “socialist”, some are “liberal”, and some are “conservative”. Those are the three main powers, and even if a province has a conservative premier/government, it may still be heavily influenced by socialism.

I think I’m rambling. End of rant. 🙂

  43. Whatever says:

To Tess and Whatever (I’m pretty you’re the two debating Canadian health care?)
    *****************

Thanks for that perspective! I originally was responding to someone who claims the babysitter was an illegal immigrant by saying that she would not have been able to get cancer treatment in the US as an illegal immigrant without health insurance. Your response was exactly what my friends who live in Canada have told me about the system.

The idea that any country with NHC is socialist or commie comes from ads run by health insurance companies and lobby groups for big pharma in order to scare people away from NHC. It’s merely a scare tactic that some have fallen for and it’s really gross.

  44. annie says:

Whatever, you live in a fantasy world!

  45. Lucy says:

    Whatever:

It really is amazing what the drug companies do to sell product.

I’m studying in the Neuropsychology field, one that is heavily influenced by research, and research for drug companies – some of the stories that you hear! The money that is spent to influence doctors to push the current “hot” medication, makes one’s jaw drop.

Oh well, before getting jumped on as being a socialist, let me just say. I do support drug companies and the medical model (to an extent). To be perfectly honest, the advertising – they can say whatever the hell they damn well please, it’s the consumer that should be thinking about what is being shown to them and/or told to them. Maybe doing a little of one’s own research into the product would be useful.

  46. Katija says:

This poor woman had to spend her last days dealing with the antics of these selfish, greedy people.

  47. Sudini says:

@Whatever – you make good points and I agree with you.
Unfortunately you’ve been caught up in a dialogue with someone who is clearly drinking the water over at Fox and is using this poor woman’s death as a platform for spouting anti-immigration and anti-healthcare vitriol.

As for the babysitter, my condolences to her family. I pray that she’s at peace.

  48. Bubbles says:

@Lucy. Yes it is true, the big pharma companies spend millions to market their new drugs once they get FDA approval. Most marketing/sales reps are educated w/ only Bachelors degrees and 2 yrs sales exp then in 2 weeks trained up by the pharma co’s about company sponsored studies and research done on animals, 3rd world country “subjects”, and those with limited health resources. Then add sales office visits, free samples, free lunch, snacks, and dinner programs equals more Dr’s giving out scripts without doing any of their own reading or research. My Dr. once gave me a sample of Vioxx without even looking at the cautions. Good thing I knew to check the PDR and read fine print before was recalled – probably saved my life. (See fda.gov for the 5 phases of drug approval and recalls.gov for latest drug recalls).

  49. Bubbles says:

    @Fae:
” That poor woman. What a shitty way to spend your last few months, in the midst of all this anger.”
    ——————————–

    Ditto.

May she rest in peace and her family find comfort in this difficult time.

  50. Truthzbetta says:

Why do people who disagree with capitalism more often that not (on this thread) just dissolve into insults making assumptions about people’s viewing habits or other personal attacks rather than arguing the point? It’s called an ad hominem attack, and it’s the weakest for this kind of argument.

If you watch Matthews and Olbermann, they’ve been caught in tons of inaccuracies so there you go. Same for same.

    Anyway, Tess rocks.

  51. Morgs says:

    @sudini,

When trying to make a point, devolving into name calling is only going to kill it. Don’t like her points so you instead attack her? Fox News being evil
Satan in every argument is now starting to sound hollow and laughable. Get a new line. And how do you even know if she does watch Fox news? By your logic anyone that disagrees with you watches Fox News. Huh, good to know.

Cracks me up how “Fox News Watcher!!!!” is like the new “Mother Fcuker”.

  52. Crash2GO2 says:

Maybe she didn’t let on that she had stage 4 cancer, because she had no choice but to keep working. What a hard life, and what a hard way to end it. 🙁

  53. gracie says:

Kaiser, PLEASE no more shirtless pics of Mel. Please. Reading about what he does is horrible enough without having my retinas burned by his bare body all over the place.

  54. Chris says:

They should make a movie about this saga. But who could play Mel?

  55. aloha says:

    Mels hate rages on.

  56. oxa says:

Radar says the nanny did not come forward because she was afraid of being deported. So Mel broke the law by hiring an illegal immigrant ans deserves to be prosecuted.

  57. Sally says:

Team Whatever! the US is most definitely behind developed nations in terms of healthcare – and US citizens pay almost double the amount for healthcare (per year, on average) than Canadians! Subsidised healthcare is not necessarily a sign of socialism. If it was then the majority of developed nations would be socialist.. but if that’s the case, I’m happy to live in a ‘socialist country’ (New Zealand) and to be paying less for healthcare. And god knows healthcare is expensive enough, even with subsidies.

  58. jc126 says:

I’m not too sensitive, Jammama, just found your comment that she died of “immigration fight” in really bad taste. And stupid.

  59. oh hey says:

    Tess,

Wow, it must be great that you have health insurance, and that if you ever get cancer, that your insurance company will be able to pay for the chemo and radiation therapy. But what do you care, right, as long as YOU got YOURS, the hell with everyone else, right?

I mean GOD forbid you’d have cancer or any other terminal illness (like HIV, but I guess they don’t have that in Suburbistan), if you weren’t to have insurance. I mean hey, you’d die of cancer anyway, but I guess it won’t matter if you’re uninsured and have to pay 10s of thousands dollars and no job to pay for it, so long as you’re terminally ill in Red, White and Blue glory, amirite?

  60. Emily says:

It’s arguments like these that make me realise that despite all its faults, I’m really frickin’ lucky to have the Aussie health system. To hear people talking about not being able to afford healthcare when they have cancer is just plain scary. Though not as scary as seeing that shirtless pic! WHY, KAISER??

  61. Confuzzle says:

Did he use a pillow on her?

  62. oh hey says:

    Lucy:

For what it’s worth, I have to “wait,” if you will, for my health insurance to go into effect before I can see my doctors for a follow-up on an emergency hospital stay, including the possible surgery I may have to get in the late fall/early winter. I couldn’t (and even with the new job, still can’t) really afford the OBGYN, because it’s 200.00 visit with no insurance, or the surgeon who saw me when I was in the hospital. God only know how much that would cost.

I don’t think any system is perfect, and just because a person wants healthcare doesn’t mean they’re anti-capitalist. Look what it’s done to the US healthcare system, Big Pharma rules the proverbial roost. A lot of docs pull out prescription pads as the first line of diagnosis because most meds can run hundreds if not thousands per supply. some docs will even push you to have certain procedures done for the money.

  63. oh hey says:

    Morgs:

Where did Sundini call Tess a name? Please point out the exact quote and exact phrase where s/he did this, because I’ve read the comment several times and did not see it.

You’re trying to twist things around to make Tess look like a victim. I wish people would realize that once they post such a lightning rod of a subject, there will be responses.

If people like you want to talk about healthcare, I invite you to go wonkette or Jesus’ General and post there.

  64. Jaxx says:

Why would a woman dying of cancer be babysitting an infant? And yes, how very convenient for Mel. Claim she has cancer and when she is conveniently murdered you can say it is natural causes. Mel Gibson is clearly the scum of the earth.

  65. Chris says:

Man that last photo is a shocker but funny.

  66. annie says:

The woman had stage 4 CA , and now Mel’s a murderer, you got evidence to back that up?

  67. db8ng1 says:

    PEOPLE!!!!

Let’s stay focused on this woman dying of cancer. It’s a d*mn gossip website.

Take your political talk somewhere else. There are plenty of places on the internet for it. (That said, Whatever, Lucy, Sudini, Bubbles, Oh Hey, etc. are all invited over for drinks at my place! 🙂 )

    RIP, Babysitter.

  68. Ellen says:

wow–his true colors are vivid in those pictures.

  69. trashaddict says:

Oh hey: Operative words being, “some docs”. Do you expect any doctor to be able to think your condition through with the care you deserve in a 20-minute slot with 10 more patients being seen in an afternoon? Many patients (especially older ones in our aging population) can’t even get out their histories in 20 minutes! Also, many patients respond to advertising and think they aren’t getting good treatment unless the doc writes a prescription. Many don’t want to change their diet, their overeating, their smoking, etc.
Yes, many things about the system suck and there are bad doctors out there but not everyone’s behaviors are profit-motivated.
Have you spoken to social work or patient accounts at your hospital. They might be able to help you in your situation. I’m guessing you already have, but worth a try. Not everyone in the medical system is an asshole.

  70. Bubbles says:

For what its worth, try green drinks and wheatgrass juice to buck up the ol’ immune system as much as possible. (check to make sure not allergic to wheat first though). I’ve heard a green diet at least helps w/ chemo reactions.
