Here’s the video of Ellen telling her studio audience that she’s getting married. She joked “I’ll tell you who the lucky guy is soon.”
She got choked up, and said “If I’m this emotional now just saying it, I can’t imagine how that’s [getting married] going to be. It’s something that we’ve wanted to do, that we’ve wanted to be legal, and we’re just very very excited.”
Ellen’s partner Portia de Rossi is shown in the audience smiling and clapping. She looks like she’s crying a little too.
Ellen made the announcement yesterday after California made same sex marriage legal. The episode in which she broke the news to her studio audience airs today.
It did occur to me that they should get a prenup, which is a smart move for even the most stable couples. Ellen’s net worth is estimated at around $65 million. She has been with Portia since December, 2004.

Brad & Angelina also said that they wouldn’t get married until everyone could.

Awww… I teared up a little! Very happy for them!

I got a little teary-eyed, too! Portia wasn’t just crying a little, the woman was beside herself with happiness! I’m really excited for them.

Woooo Hoooooo!! Congratulations!!

AWWW. This is what marriage is about. It does not matter what gender, race or what ever you are, it is about two people who love each other and are truly happy together. Good for them.
They will have a greater chance that their marriage will last then any other Hollywood couple.

I’m not really a pro-marriage person. Some relationships don’t need the business contract and meringue-style dress to feel legit.
That said, congratulations you adorable couple! -
How sweet! At least they seem like a couple that truly cares for one another. as long and Ronson and Lohan aren’t next…

YAY! Thats so sweet! God that does make you tear up! I’m happy she’s never been married before and that they are a stable couple. It makes it as special as it’s SUPPOSED to be!

Seeing how much people like Ellen and Portia love each other, I just don’t understand how anyone could be against legally recognizing it.
This is true love, you can see it in their eyes, in how happy they are. I wish them the very best

That made me tear up. So sweet. :]

I have always thought Portia was lovely.

Eventually, they can marry. How sweet. Wish them all the luck of the world.

Noone knows how much they love eachother. That is such a ridiculous high-schoolish approach to television. You don’t know anything about them. They are actresses. And 90% of hollywood gets divorced….so….
but still glad for the gays.

Now that gays are able to marry legally I know there is a chance for my husband and my sisters-wives to be legally married too. We don’t have to hide anymore, we will be able to “come out of the closet” as soon as multi-wives marriages are allow. This gives us hope.

Didn’t Natalie Portman say she wouldn’t get married until everyone had the right to do so? She didn’t specify where, the whole world, the whole country?
