Charlie Hunnam shirtless and sweaty on the cover of Men’s Fitness

charliehunnam
So I’ve been watching Sons of Anarchy this season, which is its third. (I just checked) I haven’t seen this week’s episode yet, but I’ve seen the first two and I have to say I really like that show. I may even go back and watch the first two seasons. The violence can be a bit much, but it’s a very watchable, action-filled drama with some excellent performances, especially from Charlie Hunnam, who I find myself staring at dreamily. He is in no way my type as I like clean cut guys with short haircuts and groomed facial hair, but I’ll make an exception for him. Even under all that beard and scraggly hair his beauty shines through, and now that I’ve seen him shirtless I get it, I really do. He appears on the cover of Men’s Fitness showing off his amazing physique. Just Jared has the details from a recent interview Hannam gave to Collider:

Charlie Hunnam shows off his ripped physique on the November 2010 cover of Men’s Fitness!

The 30-year-old Sons of Anarchy actor recently spoke with Collider about his work on the show. Here’s what he had to say:

On the show’s lack of Emmy recognition: “I personally was really happy. I don’t subscribe to Emmys or awards, or any of that sh*t. I think it’s all a crock of sh*t, and I think it’s corrupting. I was happy that we weren’t on the receiving end of a force that could change the dynamic that we have because I think it’s working.”

On Jax’s journey this season: “It’s a darker Jax than we’ve seen so far. The coolest thing about this season, for me, as an audience member and a fan of this subculture, is that we get to explore a little bit more of the international sense of these clubs.”

[From Collider via Just Jared]

It’s disappointing to read this interview and hear Hunnam sound like an anti-establishment poser. He calls awards shows a “crock of sh*t” and while they may be he’s getting paid good money to act on TV and could be more gracious about it. Or he could admit the truth, like “I don’t feel comfortable going to awards shows and industry events” and/or “I’m disappointed that we weren’t nominated.” Instead he claims to hate them all and calls them “corrupting.” My crush is fading a little now.

Charlie was featured on Hot Guy Friday two weeks ago thanks to your requests. He had a chance to be a regular before he opened his mouth, although those chiseled abs are definitely working in his favor. He’ll have to work on his attitude, but he does have an accent going for him. 30 year-old Hunnam is from England. Here’s a link to an interview he did with his co-star, Katey Segal, last year. He seems like a decent enough guy, but the maturity level could improve. I’ll overlook it.

I have to say I agree about the award shows-I don’t watch any of them. To me its a “Hey we are such huge egomaniacs we need to dedicate special tv time to pat ourselves on the back and give each other awards because my millions of dollars a movie/episode, free everything and adoring public isn’t enough!” I just don’t care who they think is the best in categories, I have my own opinion…which is probably why I watch Histroy Channel’s Chasing Mummies and MTV’s The Jersey Shore all in one night! lol

Just love him. I watch award shows for entertainment purposes only. I agree with him, they are a ‘crock of sh*t.’ Award shows are Hollywood stroking each other. Half the time, award shows are a popularity contest.

With all that said, he’s delicious. I love my men scruffy and toned. yum

    YUMMY.

Celebitchy, DEFINITELY watch the first two seasons. you’ll be happy you did if just to be able to follow the story lines and know why people have the types of relationships they do. It’s a great show…yeah, violent and uncomfortable sometimes, but it’s so watchable.

Well I don’t know if I totally agree with him about the award shows, but the fact that Katey Sagal wasn’t even nominated was just unbelievable. You really should go back and watch the previous seasons CB, they’re excellent. SoA is probably the best show on TV right now, along with Mad Men and Breaking Bad.

As for that picture……MY GOD that man is gorgeous.

Agree – you MUST watch the first two seasons. Not only are they great in and of themselves but they also help you really understand what’s going on this season as well as the underlying currents between characters.

Um, this is the right way to start a morning.

And if you like what you’ve seen of this season of Sons, I implore you to Netflix the first 2 seasons RIGHT NOW. This season has actually had a slow build-up compared to the first two seasons, which are AMAZING.

You can catch the first & second seasons of SOA on freetv.com. (FX takes a full week to make the new episodes available OnDemand.)

I nominate him for Hot Guy Friday, since I’ve missed a few weeks (and his week was obviously one of them)!

Sophie, TOTALLY agree that Segal should be nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe. (they do give those for TV, right?)

anyway, she is brilliant in that show. you’d never mistake her for Peg Bundy, that’s for sure.

  13. CB–Sons of Anarchy is a GREAT show. You’d really like it. I love me some Jax… I now have the hots for bikers after that show. YUM.

Sons is loosely (very very loosely) based on Hamlet though, at least as far as the relationships of Jax, Clay, Jemma, and Jax’s dead father John are concerned.

He was hot hot hot in Abandoned. and as Nicholas Nickleby. My high school heart had a big ol’ crush. I was disappointed to see him on HGF for the first time in years, look like a homeless person with this hair and beard… but as least his body is still hot.

Given that The Wire got the cold shoulder from the emmys time and time again, I too agree that the emmys are a joke. I guess the emmys aren’t into shows that delve into organized crime unless they’re mafia related. However, if I were him I wouldn’t want to mess up anyone else’s shot of getting an award in the future. Those award voters can be a spiteful bunch.

I am a SoA junkie! I highly recommend watching the first two season cause it will definitely put this season more into perspective.

As for HGF..there are SEVERAL hot guys on SoA: Tommy Flanagan, Kim Coates, and Ryan Hurst.

BTW..did anyone else recognize Stephen King in his cameo this week?

I love this show and have fallen for this guy completely (although nothing like my usual “type”). That being said, Katey Segal RULES this show. She is fearless and a bad a** mama bear. Love her and she needs that Emmy or some kind of recognization.

He’s been around for awhile; he was in an ok teen thriller with Katie Holmes back in the day before she got crazy, and then he was in Green Street Hooligans with Elijah Wood and OMG….in GSH he’s got the body, the shaved head/no facial hair thing, and his accent to top it off! I fell in love with him then, and am glad he’s made it onto an amazing show. It’s funny though because if you look at him then vs. now- he’s barely recognizable.

Lol @ the flesh beard comments.

Personally, I would prefer him clean shaven, but I like his blonde beard. He reminds me of a hot viking.

He’s channeling Heath Ledger in “A Knight’s Tale” more than Spencer Pratt!!

WYIJM – He was hot in the UK QAF. He was so young then! He has aged mighty fine. ‘Tis a shame he must keep the hair/beard for months at a time to stay in character. I appreciate his attractiveness anyway :-p

yeah, Jax is smokin’, but Happy is the hotness…a little “scary hot”, like he might go rob a liquor store after you get it on, but hot all the same. I’m sure you know this, but…

he was originally hired to be a technical consultant for the bikes (as he is a Harley-certified mechanic) but took a role on the show as well. and, he’s also a tattoo artist with his own studio. apparently, when he’s not on set, he’s at his shop, inking people.

  39. Lena says:

I love him. Jax is one of my favorite parts of SoA. And I tend to agree that award shows are masturbatory, so I don’t really mind his comments.

Now putting my mans fineness aside, Katie Segal is the real star of that show. She is AMAZING. She is one bad ass lady, and she does a killer job. If she were to never win an award for the part of Gemma it would be a crime. She is that good.

I highly recommend catching the first two seasons.

  40. KatC says:

I love him. Undeclared was the first thing I ever saw him in and he was excellent doing comedy too. I’ve been blown away by pretty much everything I’ve ever seen him in and IMO SoA is, hands down, then best show on T.V. Mad Men’s in the top three but sometimes it’s a little boring. SoA has been putting out the most consistently fantastic episodes of any show I’ve ever seen.

Could not be less turned off by his lack of award show pandering. I love that he’s happy to be putting out a quality product, and doesn’t want anything to spoil it. Also I completely agree with him. I sincerely doubt that he’s talking shit because his widdle feewings are hurt because they haven’t gotten an emmy. Most people I know tend to be pretty surprised when someone deserving actually does manage to win one of those awards so… Yeah I think they’re pretty shit. And good on him for not being afraid to say so.

    Spencer Pratt.

Sorry, not into the homeless, psychotic look. But he pulls it off well?

Since his “Young Americans” days circa year 2000, he’s had a personality that doesn’t rub me the right way. In fact, his quote was exactly the kind of vitriol I was expecting him to say. No surprises there.

It’s funny, CB. I didn’t know who had wrote this when I clicked on the story, but as soon as I read that you liked your men clean-cut I knew that you it was you and not Kaiser. lol.

  46. Raven says:

I just started watching this show a couple of months ago when FX reran the last season. I’ve been sucked in, which was obviously the point of the rerun. Jacks seemed very sweet as a character and I see how his wife, the doctor, could have fallen for him. I haven’t watched the first season or seen part of last season, but it seems as though the show might be going a bit off the rails. The part where the Katy Sagal character goes to visit her father seemed over the top to me. But I’ve tuned in for awhile anyway.

FX is really coming alive with its alternative programming. I fell in love with Justified last spring. And I’m liking Terriers as well this fall. Many of these shows on cable are so much more interesting than the big budget shows on network TV. Other than NCIS (and House, if you count FOX), I just don’t watch network TV.
