Cameron Crowe & Nancy Wilson divorcing after 20 years

Sad news for anyone who is a fan of rock n’ roll. Oscar-winning screenwriter and director Cameron Crowe and his wife Nancy Wilson (of Heart) are divorcing after 20 years of marriage. Crowe is the writer/director of such films as the autobiographical Almost Famous (a favorite of mine), Vanilla Sky, Jerry Maguire and Singles. Nancy Wilson, in addition to her rock career, has worked with Crowe on many of his films, doing music arrangements, writing songs and working on the soundtrack. They have two children together. And they seemed really, really tight!

Court records show rocker Nancy Wilson has filed for divorce from writer-director Cameron Crowe after more than 20 years of marriage.

The Heart singer-guitarist cited irreconcilable differences for the divorce, which was filed Sept. 16.

The court filings say Wilson and Crowe separated in 2008.

They were married in 1986 and have twin 10-year-old sons. Wilson is seeking joint custody.

Crowe is known for directing films such as “Jerry Maguire” and “Say Anything.” He won an Oscar for writing the screenplay for the film “Almost Famous.”

I wonder if there’s any scandal there? These days, you never can tell. I thought director Robert Rodriguez was a good guy and a solid family man, and he dumped his wife (and mother of his, like, four or five children) for actress Rose McGowen. So did Cameron leave his wife for some young actress? Did Nancy leave Cameron for some hot rock ‘n roll piece? I don’t know. Maybe it was just Elizabethtown and the badness that is Orly Bloom.

Here’s one of my favorite scenes from Almost Famous:

NOOOOOOOOO! This is horrible news, so sad. Individually I love these two people, and together they seemed to be rock solid. So sad. I hope it’s not due to any scandal and hope they can move through this quietly. Man, I am really bummed out to hear about this.

I LOVE Heart! I am so bummed because like Kaiser I thought these two had it solidly together. Heart was my first concert (women who rocked liked Zeppelin). Excellent & thanks for the Heart clip. Good times.

@ persistant cat: your post made me LOL! that would be awesome, though.

a bit of trivia about the song barracuda, for those who don’t already know: the song was about a record executive who staged some publicity stunt alleging the sisters were involved in a sexual relationship with each other. eeeewwww. i wonder if mc cain/palin knew that when they used the song without permission during the election?

  17. jc126 says:

That is so sad! That really bums me out, they seemed like such a rare, solid couple. : ( Guess one never knows about anyone, do they?

  18. Mistral says:

I bet Nancy was flinging with the stud in white shredding the guitar in that video. Yeah, baby! Too bad about the marriage, but they gave it a good try. Twenty some years is a long time these days to be married. They waited a while to have children, too. I’m going to take a bet that the Mr. has been shagging the hired help. Men! They really are impossible.

  21. Ally says:

Geoffrey Rush could play him in a movie.

  22. Anti-icon says:

Dang it I hate when illusions are shattered. I like these two so much. Well, I hope it’s not a scandal, cause 10 year old twin boys need love and support.

  23. Raven says:

Almost Famous –it brought back memories for me. And I thought for sure when I saw Kate Hudson in the film that she’d be a huge star. She was perfect in it.

When couples have separated for this long, usually the filing partner has found someone else and is ready to move on. So my guess is that she’s got a new man and wants to settle down with him. Life happens. It says something about her and their relationship that she is filing for joint custody. One more thing they won’t have to fight over.

  24. Jeannified says:

F – – k’in-A! I was JUST thinking YESTERDAY, hwo solid and in love they must be. I was watching clips all day from “Singles” on YouTube, and listening to that music. I kept thinking that Cameron Crowe must really love Nancy, which is why he probably did that move. SO SAD!!!

  25. Narsa says:

Jerry Cantrell , that is all I’m saying !!! They would make such a hot couple. They both shred on guitar , they are both from around the same area in seattle and they are great musicians all together! It would be nice to see them work together again .
