Adam Sandler’s tiered dress: tired, unfunny, or genuinely cute?

These are new photos from the set of Jack & Jill, which is currently filming with Adam Sandler taking the part of the two leads. Now…am I an Adam Sandler hater? No, not really. I don’t particularly enjoy his films (except for Big Daddy, which even I will admit to watching at least a dozen times), but I get that Sandler’s films have their place. They fall into the “family friendly” zone… although from what little I’ve seen, I do think Sandler offends people at times. But whatever… kids like him, parents can take him in small doses, and why not? So Sandler’s latest project is Jack & Jill. The story line, Sandler‘s own words: “In Jack and Jill I play me, I play my twin sister. The man version of me is doing okay, he has a family out in L.A.; the twin-sister-version of me lives out in the Bronx and comes out to L.A. for Thanksgiving and then refuses to leave and is spoiling the man version of [me’s] family life a little bit.” Katie Holmes is rumored to be playing Sandler’s wife.

Previously, I’ve mentioned that Sandler makes an unattractive woman. Part of it is that Sandler’s production team made sure he got a particularly busted wig, and some of the worst wardrobe pieces around. Look at that navy dress! A woman that size would never pick that out, especially with that jacket! I will give Sandler some credit though – I think he shaved his legs (or had them waxed). Good for him. And the makeup department is trying to help a dude out – his eye makeup doesn’t look hideous.

Here are some additional photos from last week, with Sandler in the busted wig:

  3. Anna says:

The only Adam Sandler movie I ever liked was The Wedding Singer. This looks like another trying-too-hard dud. He looks awful and unfunny. Blech.

  4. Oi says:

The boobs are a bit much I think. The outfit is pretty good.

Can we get Tyler Perry as Madea cameo?

  5. Just a Poster says:

I love 98% of his movies. Especially the ones geared for actual grown ups (50 first dates, Spanglish, the one where he tells his niece and nephew stories) and I am looking forward to seeing this one when it comes out.

Most of his movies have a sweetness to them, you are right, most of them are family movies. And finding a family movie that isn’t total CGI is priceless.

I love Adam Sandler , very nice guy when I met him filming in front of my building a few years ago .

  7. Tia C says:

LOL, I can’t help but notice that he looks awfully comfortable in those dresses and makeup!!

I’ve been a fan for years, and I love most of his movies. Not all, but most. I too have seen “Big Daddy” many times, and I always enjoy it. I hope his recent dud “Grown Ups” is not a precursor of things to come, but I have hope that he can become funny again. “Grown Ups” was the lamest, most unfunny, laughless movie I’ve seen in years, and everyone who participated in it should be ashamed of themselves, IMO. I know he can do better, and I’m sure he will!

It’s true, I like most of his movies… but not all of them. He knows how to make people laugh, and I hope he surprises us with this one.

  9. Bettyboo says:

I love Adam Sandler. I agree with “just a poster” most of the movies have a sweetness to them that makes me want to watch them any time they are on TV. My overall favorites are “Chuck and Larry Get Married” and “The Wedding Singer”.

  10. Johnny Depp's Girl says:

That is soo funny, bet he asked for a big rack! I love him to death. He’s funny in real life and on screen. Boy he is one ugly chick. yuck!

  11. Jillian says:

I hate Adam Sandler. He plays the same character in all of his movies that I’ve seen (never saw Punch Drunk or Spanglish).

  12. L says:

Oh my god. Those shoes he has on in the first picture? I totally own those. They are from target.

  13. original kate says:

i loved “the wedding singer.” this looks like a POS.

  14. hairball says:

Splanglish was a GREAT movie. He did an excellent job at it. But, there is NO way I’m sitting through a movie watching a man look hideous in drag – esp on the big screen. Yuck.

  15. lu says:

I loved 50 first dates and funny people. Eric Bana was awesome in that film.
The rest I enjoyed them only when I was pubescent.

  16. jc126 says:

I heard Spanglish was good, didn’t see it, but it looked like a totally different type of film than he usually makes. Most of his movies are crappy and stupid.
Also, I just hate it when an actor plays two roles in one movie. Just hire a woman to play his sister! It’s distracting to the audience, and when they face each other, nitpickers such as myself will be looking for technical glitches to see the split screen.

  17. The Bobster says:

I never could stand the ugly, untalented, obnoxious pinhead. He almost destroyed SNL single-handedly.

  18. Ron says:

The shoes and the mexican van trim throw it off for me. He’s such a pretty girl too.

  19. The Truth Fairy says:

Wow, in drag he looks EXACTLY like Alanis Morrisette!

  20. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

    The Bobster has the idea.

  21. Hautie says:

I like Sadler and all his goofy movies. Waterboy, Big Daddy and The Wedding Singer were all fun movies for me. I even liked the remake of The Longest Yard.

But I like his goofy humor and I realize some people don’t.

The same can be said about Jim Carey. Either you like his movies or you hate them.

  22. Str8Shooter says:

Right on, Bobster! This moron has somehow brought the term ‘lowest common denominator’ to a new level. Never saw the appeal of someone who’s built an entire career out of making stupid little-kid voices.

Makes you just want to punch him! LOL

  23. Deanbro says:

My first Adam Sandler movie was Mr Deeds which I was forced to watch twice on a train ride to hell. I think I would have completely chewed off my arm if I had to see this again. This movie has to be the most annoying movie ever made and Sandler has to be the worlds most unfunny “funny” guy. His movies are all vulgarity and sentimentality devoid of intelligence, wit and humor. You’re right Bobster. I would like to ask Sandler just how anyone can get to be so boring, irritating and yes, UNFUNNY!
