Last night, Taylor Swift attended the CMAs solo – no Jake Gyllenhaal. Also notable, Swifty didn’t sweep the awards! Maybe Nashville is finally tiring of Swifty? They did let her perform though, and it was just as girly and snowflaky as you could imagine (the photos of her performance dress are below). Her red carpet look was oddly good – a sleek red column with a sexy slit up one leg. It’s too mature for Swifty, but the color looks great on her, and she’s got the figure (just not the attitude) to pull it off.
Anyway, I noticed this interesting little story in the print edition of Us Weekly this week – apparently, Jake was the one to pursue Swifty, and she made him chase her:
It’s weird, but it’s working! Unlikely couple Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift continue to get cozy from coast to coast. During Halloween weekend, Jake and Taylor enjoyed a stay at Big Sur’s Post Ranch Inn in California.
“At breakfast, Taylor was snuggling with Jake,” says a fellow guest. “When she got up to wait for an omelet, she was smiling at him.”
By November 6, they had returned to NYC, although they kept separate as Jake went on his Love & Other Drugs promotional tour, and Swift spent time with friends. A few days later, she flew to Nashville while Jake stayed in NYC.
Will Jake rush to reunite with Swift – whom he met after asking his team for an introduction – for a fourth weekend? Perhaps. After all, says an insider, “from the start, Jake was the one pursuing her.”

I’m not going to blame Swifty for this – it’s Jake who has the problem. Why is he chasing John Mayer’s seconds? Ugh. Jake… get a grip.
Also – there’s a rumor that Reese Witherspoon was the matchmaker for this little union too – but I don’t see it. I doubt Reese gives a sh-t about Jake’s life at this point, and I buy that Jake asked his people to set him up with Swifty.
I hate her hair like that. It looks like some old stuffy society lady hair-do from the 40’s and it doesn’t look good on her.
That dress would have been beautiful on someone else. I do like her performance dress very pretty.
I didn’t see her performance at the CMA’s but a friend told me it was very good. She played the piano while singing and held pitch for the most part. She’s a pro just coming into her own. Way to go Taylor!!!!

Her eyebrows bother me. She needs to shape them differently i think. Anyways, I still think its creepy that Jake , soon to be 30 year old man, is pursuing a 20 year old girl. It may seem like only 10 years, but at 20 shes still naive and vulnerable. Idk its just off

With all the drug drama from the other well known girls her age… I find it odd that Taylor is getting constantly bashed for being successful.
If I had a young teenage daughter, I would not be freaked out about Taylor being her obsession.
Unlike practically all of the famous girls her age… who were Disney produced females… at least Taylor is not living out some cracked out drama in the press. Being forced into rehab for a coke issue.
So Taylor made a alleged bad decision and saw John Mayer naked.
Well so have alot of famous girls.
Who were much older. And who obviously knew better.
So Taylor was bullsh*tted by that douche… she learned a lesson. Avoid the douche-bags with sleeve tattoo’s.
I like Jake.
He seems harmless and probably has honest intentions for her.
Plus if she is going to date within the entertainment industry… at least he is successful. Can pay his own bills. And does not need to use her for fame.
Nor does she need him to boost her fame either.
Ok, I’m never one to be mean about looks, must be my extreme love for Jakey G that’s making me say this – what does he see in her?? what’s with that awful hair? the terrible eyeliner? the awful thing she’s doing with her eyebrow? huh???? Just. Don’t. Get. It. I know she’s sweet and everything, but jeez. I am so bummed about this. And clearly need to get a life, heh.
Anyone know if they have the same management team or something? I seriously can’t buy this relationship as any thing but a sketchy PR hookup, which is disappointing in it’s own way. I mean I know he has a thing for blondes but Swifty? He doesn’t need her to keep him relevant but maybe she does now that the sympathy card (courtesy of Kanye) has expired. I just can’t with this pairing. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth and it has nothing to do with their respective ages.
Oh Swifty, when Gwyneth Paltrow can outsing you at the CMA’s, you know you’ve got problems!
Jake has a big movie coming out – Love & Other Drugs. He’s coming into his own as a leading man. They need to continue the charade that he is “straight”. Nothing new with this story…..
Oh please! I can’t believe anyone is falling for this, especially you Kaiser. It’s from US Weekly! Taylor’s a stage five clinger, if there was any chasing it would have been the other way round. This screams PR stunt pure and simple. And before any of you Swifty stans come back with “she doesn’t need the publicity” well, she’s an average singer/songwriter at most (her marketing and PR team play a big part in her success), she appeals to a very large demographic (soccer moms, country music fans, tweenies and people who hate good music) however, outside of that demographic no one really cares about her, so hooking up with Jake helps broaden her fan base and also deflects attention from the whole Mayer situation. Jake has a movie coming out, the more attention he gets, the more likely people will go see the film and make it a success at the box office. In order for Jake to remain relevant and on the A-List, he needs a hit movie to prove he’s leading man material and can carry a film. It works for both of them to hook up (professionally) because they both have projects to promote and a wholesome, boring image which everyone buys into.
As for her CMA performance, sorry but the girl was flat and off pitch much like most of her other live performances.
The longer this PR B.S. goes on the less respect I have for Jake. The 10 yr difference isnt the problem it’s the fact that she’s barely an adult. Lambchop has nothing to offer relationship wise to a man of 30. It’s creepy. The whole thing just make me sad.
Why does the banner say CMTs if they’re the CMAs?

The songs on Speak Now are embarrassingly bad – lame, self-referential, self-indulgent. Too bad for the real singers out there.

That’s about as believeable as him not inviting her to the premier of his movie because he didn’t want her to see him naked (according to Popeater). Ugh, I’m getting tired of this whole stunt. He’s hot and I don’t have anything against her but just…no.
Her eyebrows are a bit more severe then I remember them being in the past, and in that particular close-up not the best, but there have been plenty worse. And it kind of seems that all the lights on her hair made it seem lighter/more grey, thus making the style look older on her. I think that in more natural lighting, it would have looked better. But then, you’d think a stylist would have thought of this…? However, of all those in attendance, she was most definitely top five of best dressed. Gwen’s dress could have been really nice, but she has a bit of a swimmer’s build and the exercise she’d been recently doing to work of the 20lbs from Country Strong were very apparent from the cutout which wasn’t placed well for her body. I have a feeling it was made before her abs became so defined from the recent work out.
Anyways, as for Taylor and Jake, I have no problem with the age. May be from personal experience (their ages are practically the same as my parents when they started dating, though they didn’t marry for another couple years) that I have so little an issue, or the fact that ten years seems like so little when you think of Eli Roth and Peaches Geldof…But then, Peaches never really exuded any bit of naivety and whimsical fantasies. Just coked out sex and a crap column.
If it works out, great, if it doesn’t, then it doesn’t. I kind of find it hard to believe it is a PR scandal, though at the same time it wouldn’t be a complete shocker. As for the reasons (perhaps Jake does pitch for the other team, or perhaps both PR agencies need them to be in the spot light for premieres and to keep relevant), I guess they could be plausible, but only time will tell.
And as a side note, I noticed someone else was commenting on her weight. Before I knew her age a while back, I thought she was a mid to late teen that had yet to fill into her body like Taylor Momsen might (granted she doesn’t become the next Lindsay Lohan with drugs – something I think no one will find too hard to believe), but as she is a young twenty-year-old, she seems to be getting thinner to me. Could just be the fact she is going from teen clothing to more mature clothing (form-fitting and whatnot) and that she has a very tall figure. It also doesn’t help that she is quite pale with makes any bit of contouring from bones or muscles stand out in photos and can make people look more emaciated then they actually are. I just hope it isn’t an eating disorder because she genuinely seems like a sweet girl.
