On Monday, Gwyneth Paltrow got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It’s surprising to me that she had never gotten one before – but seeing as how everyone seems to be getting one these days, and the celebrity has to pay for it themselves (or the studio does), perhaps Gwyneth never deigned to do something so utterly pedestrian before. The studio must have pushed for it, I think. A little extra promotion, a little reminder that Gwyneth is completely normal, I guess.
The photos from the ceremony are not good, though. When I started writing this, I went back and re-read CB’s Goop story from yesterday, where CB was bitching about Gwyneth’s makeup job in an interview. This Walk of Fame ceremony was an appropriate occasion for Goopy to perhaps get her makeup professionally done, but it doesn’t look like she even cared enough to bother. AND – Gwyneth needs to stop with this “no roots” look – it washes her completely. She needs something a little darker at her scalp so that her white-blonde straw hair doesn’t completely blend in with her weak, pale, vitamin-deficient skin. Of course, the problem could totally be the low, winter sunlight not being Goopy’s friend. Something is making her look kind of haggard.
Tim McGraw was there too – he’s in Country Strong. He plays her husband. I like Tim a great deal, but what’s on his head? Is that a piece?

I am beginning to think that McGraw had a little hair transplant. Which I see nothing wrong with it.
Bless his heart… he was practically bald by the time he was 30. And there is no need to be bald unless you want to.

I don’t know what on earth Kaiser consumed before writing this, but I was struck by how BEAUTIFUL Gwyneth looks here! She looks SO BEEPING GORGEOUS!!!! And I’ve never thought much about her one way or the other. She looks so natural, so full of glow, so radiant and so attractive. Washout? Wtf???? Where? If thats how she looks sans makeup, I suggest she stays away from the makeup. I honestly think she is so beautiful here. Probably the best pictures I’ve seen of her. She looks radiant.

Maybe she overdid it a teeny bit with the botox (her eyes usually close a bit more when she smiles), but haggard!? IMO she looks rosy and fresh-faced, just the platinum blonde hair looks a bit off.
Has the plastic smoothness of Kim Kardashian & Heidi Montag really warped our judgement on how women are supposed to look?

On DListed there are more photos, and Gwynnie looks, well different. I thought she was Heidi Montog when I first saw the header over there. Different angles? I don’t know, but her face looks fuller and smoother.
As far as had color, it looks more natural to have it broken up with different dimensions of color.

She was bragging about her star on Conan last night. I find her deeply annoying but she looked really beautiful. I think she looks very pretty here too.

I love my Gwynnie, but she is looking a little tired in these pics I suppose and I think she had a bit of botox treatment. She is 38 however, so she can do that. Still beautiful nonetheless.

There are more pictures and something about them just look funny. Don’t care about the straw head or the lack of foundation. There’s something about her forehead area on pictures I’ve seen on other sites that make me think she had some kind of tightening done but didn’t take enough rest time afterwards.

What a contrast to Reese Witherspoon, surrounded by her kids. Gwyneth has a recent co-star? This isn’t about your last movie, it’s about your career…it’s a once in a lifetime honor. I can’t imagine what reason she can come up with for not having her husband and kids with her.

I think she looks great. Regarding her husband and kids – I remember interviews very early on in their marriage in which Gwyneth said her husband would never be on a red carpet or attend these kinds of things. I seem to recall that he doesn’t like them and she said he has his own very successful career and doesn’t need or want to be in situations in which he gets called Mr. Paltrow or is told to move in or out of a photo shot. Her kids are still young so I can see why she didn’t bring them either. Still don’t get all the hate for her.

@Carol, you’re right: I completely understand their desire for privacy, and I even respect that they might not want to be photographed on the red carpet all the time. BUT…
Isn’t getting a star on the walk of fame a completely different kettle of fish? And hasn’t Gwyneth been seen (and photographed) at many of her husband’s concerts? Why can’t he just suck it up and show his love and support on such a big day? It makes no sense to me.

She looks healthy and content, and strikingly beautiful and natural. I agree re: our warped perceptions…to be clear we now think that dark roots and fake-tanned/plasticy caked-on make-up is preferable?

If she didn’t own me forever with her comment about the Bennifer relationship (I always knew he’d end up with a stripper type. I can’t believe I dated him.) then she’d have me with her fluffy girl next door styling in Shallow Hal. She is MUCH prettier than she allows the public to see. And a much better singer than Country Strong.

No roots look? I’ve never dyed my hair (its dark) but I always thought showing roots were a no-no. I didn’t know some people chose the root look so they don’t look washed out. is that even true?

Wow, The Great Goopy has had work done. That’s definitely filler and ‘tox face right there. She’s done it subtly (well, compared to most) but that is DEFINITELY fillers in that face.

I thought she looked fabulous in Iron Man I (didn’t see II). Liked the strawberry blond hair and the extra pounds-both suited her quite well.
