Reader Angelika alerted me to a post on PerezHilton’s site that claimed that Dave Navarro was putting the blocks to America’s favorite former porn star Jenna Jameson. I said I’d wait until the story got picked up by other news outlets, but it’s true and I shouldn’t have waited.
TMZ reports that they contacted Jenna’s publicist and she confirmed their relationship:
I must say this is a nice score for Dave. It would be tough for Dave to find anyone to replace firecracker Carmen, but from what I’ve seen, ahem, I mean “heard” Jenna is up to the task.
Yeah, I can’t wait until these two go out in public and are photographed together. No wonder Jenna’s husband is abusing strippers. He’s pissed that she left him!
Carmen won’t be happy to hear about Dave’s latest hookup, but rumor has it that Carmen and Dave were split for months before they announced their divorce.

Sorry, but Jenna is a HUGE step down from Carmen. This picture of her is one of the best I’ve seen — usually she looks hard and plastic. As a matter of fax her new wax figure looks more human than she does. Not to mention the fact that she’s such a sleazebag she makes Paris look positively chaste.

I agree, Dave won’t be able to get any woman that’s over Carmen’s league – but someone like Jenna is the closest you can get, the same porn-nude-like image, though Carmen Electra did it with a bit of niveau and Jenna is just slutty and nasty.

Granted she had a career in porn, but I don’t hold that against her and consider her a very savvy businesswoman. Maybe I’m completely out of touch with reality, but I read her biography and I have a lot of respect for her. People enjoy porn and watch it. If someone wants to have sex in a completely controlled environment and get paid to entertain people what is wrong with that?
I understand your point of view, and a lot of people agree with you. To me it is not that scandalous to choose a career in porn, especially boutique porn like Jenna’s done. (yeah it’s totally explicit, but who cares?)
I realize I am asking for a huge debate here, and I really do respect your opinion. I just don’t see how Jenna is any different than Paris Hilton. If anything she seems a lot smarter.

I can’t believe I’m going to defend Paris Hilton and her ilk, but here goes:
Paris has not made a career of hard core sex. Nipple slips and underwear-free upskirt shots are merely a hobby;)Selling (or giving away) the hint of sex is not, to me, the same as selling it.
Sure Paris has a porn movie on the internet, but she did not release it and purportedly has not profited from it. She’s also not the only person, celebrity or not, who let a lover take comprimising pictures and lived to regret it.
Far be it for me to call Paris Hilton smart, but I’m willing to bet Paris has seen a lot more money than Jenna for doing a lot less. To my knowledge, porn does not pay nearly as well as mainstream movies, so I’m willing to bet Paris earned more in House of Wax than Jenna did for any of her movies. And Paris didn’t risk an STD in House of Wax (not onscreen anyway).
Finally, we base our opinions of Paris Hilton on gossip and innuendo. We assume she’s slept with every guy she’s been photographed with. We have hard(core) evidence of Jenna’s escapades.
I’ve got kids, and it bugs me the way porn is seeping into mainstream entertainment. Not only that, but it seems like there is a double standard where mainstream celebrities are criticized for every flaw while porn stars are celebrated as though they were avantguard and their physical flaws (comic book proportion boob jobs, fish lips, etc)are overlooked. Hope I didn’t come of as an Elisabeth Hasselback clone.

You make a good point Randi in terms of ripping on celebrities for vague reasons vs. celebrating porn stars. Of course kids should not be exposed to it and that makes sense that it would be annoying to you.
Jenna may not be as rich as Paris, but she’s doing quite well. She just sold her business to Playboy for an undisclosed sum.
Paris Hilton was born into a wealthy well-connected family. If she was a nobody with a hard knock life she might have turned out differently or we might never have heard of her.
Sex is natural though and there’s a demand for porn because people watch it. It’s sexy and there’s a time and place for it.
I just don’t look down on people for choosing a career in porn. You’re right that anyone in the public eye should be subject to the same criticism that we heap on the celebrities. It’s just that the porn stars aren’t that popular and we seem to focus on the big celebrities because they’re the ones in the spotlight.
Like I said, I understand where you’re coming from and thanks for taking the time to comment so thoughtfully.
