Matthew McConaughey’s son Levi already on the red carpet

It must be a cool existence to be Matthew McConaughey’s son. You have incredibly attractive parents. Lots of money. They’re pretty easy going. You get to chill with celebrities. And you know from birth that you’re probably going to be pretty damn hot when you grow up. Little Levi McConaughey has it made. And last night he made his first trip down the red carpet – in a car seat, but nonetheless. I bet it was a really nice car seat.

Matthew McConaughey’s month-old son Levi made his red carpet debut on Thursday. Along with his proud pop and mother Camila Alves, the tot attended a bash for Alves’ new handbag line, MUXO, at Kitson in L.A.

McConaughey, 38, walked straight through the red carpet, carrying the baby (who was nestled in a car seat covered with a plush yellow blanket) and took him inside. “[Levi] was gonna stay home, but then he said, ‘Dad, mom, I wanna go support mom’s purses!’” Matthew joked with Entertainment Tonight. “At 30 days old, he’s talking about stuff like that!”

In a two-part interview on CNN’s House Call with Dr. Sanjay Gupta (airing Aug. 9 and Aug. 16), McConaughey reveals that they took their son to a recent John Mellencamp concert. Dad says his son “is equipped to be around the sights and sounds of people.”

[From Us Weekly]

A John Mellencamp concert? Really? I wonder if they have a special baby pillow to commemorate “Baby’s first hearing loss.” I’m assuming they were in some kind of private box or something, otherwise I can’t think of many other things that could be more harmful to a new baby than a rock concert. And that whole thing about, “I wanna go support mom’s purses” – while utterly adorable – is going to get Levi a lot of hell on the playground. But he’s got a decent chance of growing up to look like his dad, so I’m sure he’ll forgive him the one embarrassing joke.

Here’s Matthew and Camila at the “Muzo” handbag launch Party at Kitson last night. Images thanks to Fame.

  1. Matthew McConaughey seems like such an ass. I saw the footage on TMZ and all I could think of was why did this idiot took a newborn baby to a place were he knew full well that there would be a dozen paparazzi there going crazy, what if something might have happened. If this was Britney all hell would break loose. If something did happen then it would not be the paparazzi’s fault, it would be entirely his. :x

  2. am pretty sure that whatever they do, they make sure Levi is safe! includding going to a rock concert! lol

since my nephew was born my sister made sure he would get used to noises(due to her very busy social life), and now no matter where or which occasion (parties, weddings, family dinners), he always gets his much needed naps, without getting bothered AT ALL!
He sleeps like a rock and wakes up with a million dollar smile

  3. I certainly hope that ugly purse she was carrying isn’t one of her creations otherwise that will be a very short lived career.

  4. Babies at concerts? I agree with JayBird. I have been in those private boxes and the noise level is still high.
Even with earphones on his head, which in itself would be uncomfortable or dangerous for a newborn’s soft head.
    Get a sitter folks.

  5. I don’t know, we used to carry our newborn everywhere, she would sleep like an angel, in the car seat, or a stroller, or any bed. But at about six months, when she would only take two naps a day, she needed her own bed. We had to be home at 10 a.m., 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. or else… she wasn’t happy. So, it gets a little harder as they grow up, from this point of view. But maybe some kids can adapt to a crazy lifestyle

  6. I don’t think she’s breastfeeding. That outfit doesn’t look like it’s got easy-access to the lovin-jugs.

  7. I think the purse outing is fine, but the concert? No no no no no…

I bet they’re just really nervous first-time parents who aren’t comfortable leaving Levi yet. But that means no rock concerts, guys.

  8. I don’t know, I took mine everywhere and they don’t seem to have permanent damage. The oldest went to the state fair at 9 days. OK, that sounds wild and it wasn’t that wild - my uncle was a policeman in the town where the state fair took place, and he was working the police association booth, and the only way we could take her to see him was to go into the fair for an hour or so. But really - we took them to drive-in movies, baseball games, if we were going and it wasn’t an adult-only thing, the kids went along.

  9. The picture of them in the car together - now I get what he sees in her. (Not gonna get into what she sees in him….)

  10. Moron! This baby’s immune system isn’t tough enough yet to expose him to God knows what…I don’t want to ever hear this jerk complain that the pap’s are after his kid, considering he’s been flopping the poor thing around for publicity since he was about a week old!

  11. Is it just me, or does he look incredibly ugly in these pictures?

  12. I’m a little confused here!!! ( but it dosen’t take much ) Matthew and his wife want the best for their child, so they have an ” organic nursery ” ( read online ) ( natural fabrics clothes ), then they plant the placeta for future growth, but take the poor child to a rock concert. That’s not very smart. I can just hear the poor little ear drums beating away into oblivium. THAT I would NOT have done.

  13. Oblivion. :) I agree. Get a sitter, folks.

czarina, it’s not just you - he looks like he’s rubbed month-old bacon grease all over and then fried himself in the sun.
