  1. Rhianna says:

This woman sounds like a text-book case of anorexia nervosa. She doesn’t think she’s thin, she sees no issues in not eating, she has no problems being airbrushed from a naught to an eight. Her clients have eating disorders brought on by her vain attitude of what is attractive and what is not – Nicole Richie is but one of her clients that has seriously affected her health by doing this crap. No normal American woman is an 8, the average size is 12. Do we begin to see how far removed from reality this chick is? Do we begin to see the damage she does by demanding her clients weigh less that 100lbs, and fit into size 0’s? Then to throw them on tv, movies, into print proclaiming them as healthy, sexy, desirable in any way?

There is no chance those teeth are real btw. No one’s teeth are naturally that white, especially with grapefruit and coffee as your entire sustenance. They’ve got to be veneers. Heaven help the dentist that has to see what the loss of bone density and mouth ulcers look like up close. Imagine the horrible stench of dying flesh that starvation brings on …

  2. daisy424 says:

She is storing her food in her cheeks, she looks like a chipmunk. 😯

  3. vdantev says:

Famous people who talk about their eating habits should be locked in a closet for a week to discover what starvation really feels like.

  4. Orangejulius says:

Nah. I had anorexia 40 years ago, before anyone knew wtf it was and this chick isn’t even close… but, vdantev, I freakin’ love your ascerbic comments!

  5. I choose me says:

She looks anorexic to me and she probably looks even skinnier in person but what the hell do i know.

  6. Snowblood says:

Yes, Vdantev’s one-liners are always spot-on. “Famous people who talk about their eating habits should be locked in a closet for a week to discover what starvation really feels like.”

    Priceless!! Great idea, too. πŸ˜†

That woman looks like a soulless nutjob. She probably lives off Adderall, cocaine, cappuchinos (for caloric intake), cigarettes and Klonopin. And vodka, how could I forget vodka. Maybe once in a while she eats some water crackers, to help the pills & speed assimilate better into her system.

By the way, WHAT is going on with that pee-stained hairdo she’s got there? Looks like a dog lifted his leg on her head.

  7. lola lola says:

Apparently, aging is also not on her list. I’ve read she’s 37, 38, 39, 32 and 28. What a pack of LIES! This woman looks 50 if she’s a day. While she’s a great stylist, I wouldn’t let her style my (slightly chubby) dog.

  8. ER says:

I don’t see how she can claim that she’s not responsible for other celebs thinness. Anytime a fairly healthy, already slim celeb hires her, they whittle their frame down to a “0”!

Of course it’s their choice, but still, it really looks like she has a hand in their choices!

  9. hello says:

I honestly do not believe that she is even a 0.

Why can she not smile without it looking like she is snarling like a dog at us?

  10. ER says:

hello: because she’s HUNGRY! It makes you crazy, and crabby and bitter! And these pics don’t show her true thinness. She’s really stick-like!

  11. Trillion says:

Damn she looks much older than 37, I agree. However being overly thin can age the skin on some people. Yet another reason to go ahead and have desert once in a while!

  12. chamalla says:

Yeah, I think her methods are what Lainey refers to as “Happy.”

wtf is up with size zero, anyway? If you’re too small for a one, get a tailor or a bag of safety pins. Better yet, eat a cupcake or two until you register as an actual number.

  13. Orangejulius says:

Aaargh. Sorry about the ‘freakin’. Don’t know what got into me!

  14. cara says:

coffee and grapefruit??? she must smell great.

  15. Elizabeth says:

    She’s a stylist ? That’s a horrible dress.

  16. CiCi says:

I *really* dislike this woman and totally believe she is behind the thinness of the likes of Nicole Richie HOWEVER i must respectfully disagree with Rihanna. No normal American woman is a size 8? Come on. And just because 12 is the “average” doesn’t make that the right size for everyone. No offense, but I am an extremely fit, not even close to underweight, very healthy size 4 (sometimes 2 depending on stores), and i would be absolutely nearing mild obesity at a size 12.

  17. Victoria says:

Hey Cara, I agree with you. I did hear, though, that Nicole does NOT see this woman any more for anything. Does NOT follow her advice in any way, or talk to her. I hope that is true. Nicole has started to look really healthy and happy, so I hope it is.

  18. lunachick says:

With Cici here, there are plenty of American women who are healthy and in the 0-6 size range.

    I’m a fit size 2 or 4, 5 foot 4, 115-125 range. Not underweight, just a healthy 36 yo American woman.

Seeing that picture of Rachel Zoe, I put her at 45+…if she’s seriously 37, she has clearly NOT been taking care of herself. It’s horrible what too much sun (and yes, poor eatng habits) will do!

  19. Steph says:

I have to agree with some of the above comments. My parents took in two foster kids who were locked in a bathroom by their birth parents where they lived for five years and fed only scraps. When they were finally discovered, they looked like concentration camp victims. Famous people should definetly not talk so friviously about their eating habits.

  20. rottenkitty says:

Oh, I bet she’s 37. It’s just that when you’re that thin, your wrinkles tend to show more. (The old ass/face connundrum as we age.)

That’s why so many actresses start looking weird when they try to compensate for years of being underweight by using fillers, Botox, whathaveyou to keep them looking “young.”

What I’m not wild about is that she looks like she ran wild through Stevie Nicks’s closet, but chosing only those items that Stevie had decided, “What was thinking when I bought THIS?”

I’m guessing she’s wearing a shapeless dress because she has no actual shape herself. Poor wee thing. There are easier ways not to have period than starving yourself.

  21. me says:

Funny, I don’t find anything remotely stylish about the gold shower curtain she’s wearing.

  22. WTF?!?! says:

Daisy424– the “chipmunk cheeks” are a sign of bulimia, swelling in the glands and nodes from puking.

  23. Andrea says:

I agree with Cici. It depends on your body mass index. If you are 5’0 and 160 lbs, and a size 12.. it isn’t healthy just because it is “normal.”
That being said, I can survive on coffee and that is it and I am 5’5 and 126 which to me is large.
Today I just had a small black coffee, small yogurt, small potato, and two bites of salad. I am a vegetarian so I have lost 10 lbs because of what I am limited too and since I am a vegetarian, I have no appetite.

But I don’t want my eating habits affecting me in 11 years when i am thirty and wanting kids. Her lifestyle is not something to promote because a lot of us want to have kids, have teeth, and possibly live until 60. LOL!

  24. boobaloob says:

Andrea, 5’5″ and 126 lbs IS NOT LARGE. Please please please eat more. Being a vegetarian is no excuse for eating as little as you claim to have eaten today. There are plenty of vegetarians who have appetites and eat enough to meet the caloric intake that is necessary to have a healthy body.

  25. jessiee says:

    Andrea —

    you’re fucking anorexic.

    get a clue.

    Or a therapist.

  26. KPod says:

Andrea: “since I am a vegetarian I have no appetite”? What the -? You have some serious eating issues. I have been a vegetarian for 20 years and I have a HEALTHY appetite. I am also many pounds heavier than I was when I started my vegetarianism. You have a body dysmorphic disorder, and are blaming vegetarianism for it.

  27. hello says:

    boobaloob

Although I do not share the same life style as andrea, I see where she is coming from. I am 5’3” and 112-115 at my heaviest. I am a size 2 or 0. I eat meat, and have a generally good diet (maybe too many potato chips)…I have plenty of fat. I have D boobs that are natural and body fat where a woman should…on her thighs and butt. I’m pretty sick of hearing people saying based on size, or how you imagine my weight is distributed we are unhealthy. I am not unhealthy. If anything, I could do with some more exercise! I’m a LITTLE person, but not thin. I don’t have big shoulders or hips. It’s how some people are. Don’t single us out and tell us to eat something. I eat.

It’s reverse picking on the fat kid, and it really pisses me off. And you know what??? I like myself! Stop picking on us. Pick on Rachel Zoe, who you know is manipulating weak-minded people!

  28. Well, many celebrity women lie about their age. I’m sick of hearing that they don’t.

  29. paris herpes says:

Rachel Zoe is SICK, she probably only sustains herself on the life-blood of virgin models. A size 0 you say? I thought these fashion mags liked their models THIN, a size 8 is, dare I say, HUGE! Why all the lies anyway? Rachel is straight up anorexic AND in complete denial, since she’s a perfectionist and it’s the only thing she can control in her life. That’s what anorexia is about people.

  30. Andrea says:

I have a good diet it is just I know where Zoe is coming from by being stressed anf not eating. like today because i was running around and had a lot of work to do. ButI eat eggs, pasta, fruits and veggies. But I meant my appetite went down because before I would stop at mcdonalds or wendys every day but I can’t really go there now can I? LOL! I would like to have subsitutes but i hate soy and tofu. I would rather eat my dog, Chance than eat soy burgers or gyros! Lmfao! I steadied my weight at 135 and I workedout every day but I stopped and lost all the weight. But I eat healthy and the last time I checked greens and probiotics were good.
But kpod I would love for you to give me tips since I am a newbie! πŸ™‚ Sweetbutterysunshine@yahoo.com

  31. paris herpes says:

Andrea, sounds like you have some eating issues going on. Just because you’re a vegeterian doesn’t mean you’re just limited to a damn salad. You think weighing 126 is large?! I think I weight maybe 3 lbs less than you and I’m 5’2. I feel good and I’m not tired or anything. You need to eat more protein, like beans, soy or tempeh. Please don’t be an unhealthy veggie, that’s not the point of being vegeterian. You can lose weight on a regular diet of meats and veggies too?!

  32. boobaloob says:

Hello, I’m 5’1″ and 105 lbs. By no means am I picking on little people, as I myself am little. That said, I eat a hell of a lot more per day than a small cup of coffee, small cup of yogurt, a small potato, and 2 bites of salad. And I’ll still argue that 5’6″ and 126 pounds is not large. Nor is it too small.

Andrea, I’m just hoping that you’re eating more each day than the menu you listed above. Because that’s not enough food by any means.

  33. Christina X says:

I can go days at a time without eating, but it’s deliberate.

People claiming they “forget to eat” are full of it. Even when I was in college and studying fourteen hours on finals week, I still ate.

  34. mollination says:

@OrangeJulius, not every anorexic has the same “danger-foods”, restrictions, tics, or obsessions. You cannot possibly tell from the info above that Zoe is not anorexic simply from past experience. Believe me, I studied eating disorders/nutrition when I originally thought I was going to school to be a counselor.

CiCi you stole the words right out of my mouth! Just because size 12 is the average in our country, does not mean it’s the IDEAL. In fact, haven’t you heard a little birdie (ie the rest of the world) criticizing Americans for how overweight we are? On some a size 12 is just right, on others it’s overweight.

Size 0’s are not necessarily too skinny either. I have a couple very (naturally) tiny little friends and I think they’d be pretty bummed if we “stopped carrying size 0’s and made them wait until they registered as a real #” seeing as how it’s hard enough for them to shop as it is.

  35. Ron says:

I have met the of the nasty bitches in Hollywood….and Skeletor Zoe is their queen.

  36. whatdoiknow says:

I think she’s had some plastic surgery.

  37. Megan says:

No amount of not eating will get rid of those wrinkles and hamster cheeks on her face.

  38. Vannuccia says:

She’s definitely had some Botox injected into her forehead- it was absolutely horrendous before. She’s obviously not eating enough good fats, as lipids (from good fats)plump out the face and prevent us from getting wrinkles. I’d rather be big and beautiful like Jill Scott, than look like this haggard, old prune.

  39. Roma says:

CiCi stole my words also – an average does not mean healthy. I’m from Canada and though we have overweight people, it is nothing like when I visit parts of the states (excluding very metropolitan cities like NYC and LA).

I’m almost 5’10” and when I was going through a gross and messy divorce I went up to a size 12 for a few months. Once I got back into my regular eating habits and working out, I’m back at a 4 or 6. When I look at the old pictures, I look incredibly heavy though I held my weight well due to my height.

I’m again fit and healthy, and I just wish that was the standard of weight and not “thinness”.

  40. neelyo says:

‘I have met the of the nasty bitches in Hollywood….and Skeletor Zoe is their queen.’

I can see that. I recall her appearing on one of those Fashion Police shows before she became famous for really no reason and I thought she was an awful person.

  41. Jess Doherty says:

Rachel Zoe is the meth supplier to the starlets, AKA raisin face!

  42. ISBN says:

I have several comments to make. First, she looks nasty. While some people are naturally tiny, small-boned (my mom is one), you can tell when someone is starving instead: sunken eyes, puffy cheeks etc. Rachel Zoe may be a small person, but her current weight is not natural.

The fact that she admits being a perfectionist–and then points out this means she may not have time for food–indicates that she considers eating a weakness or indulgence. She’s anorexic.

Andrea: I’m not sure if you are serious or not. That’s how far from normal your thoughts about food seem to be–I actually wonder if it’s just a troll. I also wonder because most people with serious eating disorders keep quiet about them, they don’t brag… If not, maybe you are looking for help. Maybe you need to re-evaluate being a veggie. If you are doing it for moral reasons (against killing animals, for example) than you will probably want to stick with it. You will absolutely need to learn how to find more protein for yourself. Certain dark leafy greens have more, nuts have protein…I’m not a veggie anymore for this very reason. πŸ™‚ It’s a lifestyle you must take seriously and learn about it. I wasn’t disciplined enough.

If you are a veggie because of the health benefits… you’re missing them all by not eating right. Buy a book, or join a group, or look at a website. They are out there–and will recommend menus. If you find that you look at menus recommended by respected organizations, and think “whoa that’s a disgusting amount of food!” or that it’s too much to eat in a day…well then you may have an eating disorder.

  43. ISBN says:

i have a post here because i got confused. πŸ™„

  44. Christina says:

this woman has no soul! 😯

  45. Andrea says:

ISBN: LOL! I was just pointing out sometimes you are so busy running around that eating isn’t such a big thing. Rachel has been blackmailed by Anna Wintour and was thrown out of the Marc Jacobs runway show. She probably doesn’t eat because she is working hard to keep her status among Hollywood’s elite.. I am a vegetarian for the right reasons! But I still eat eggs and drink milk though.
I am 19 and transferring colleges so i get stressed out with loans, books, sending out my paperwork over and over again.. but i eat great! LOL! I have meat over my bones! I don’t have the dedication or heart for a severe eating disorder and I work for a doctor so I think he will suspect if I have bags under my eyes and clothes hanging off my raggardy form. I am lazy and if I am hungry, i won’t starve myself. But if I am busy like the 3 days i work, lol, I try to grab something to eat but with sick people all around you, sometimes you really don’t have an appetite, i get out late so I don’t want an upset stomache before bed. But i don’t scratch myself and eat my hair so i won’t eat. Lmfao. Anyways, my mom is very vigilant and will beat my butt if I am at home and don’t eat. πŸ™‚

  46. Roma says:

Andrea, maybe it is your choice of words that are getting people’s backs up.

Like when you say you don’t have the “dedication or heart for a severe eating disorder”, those might not be the best way to phrase it. Eating disorders are not about dedication, they are an illness.

  47. ER says:

When did this become a ‘pro anorexia’ site? Everyone talking about their height, weight, clothing size! Those sites are out there, but I know this isn’t one of them.

I’m a recovered ana/mia and it REALLY gets me down when people start comparing their stats!

Rachel Zoe is unattractive, malnourished, and psychotic! Period!

  48. Orangejulius says:

I think maybe the baggy clothes are obscuring how skinny she actually is. I’ve never seen any other pics of her.

  49. xiaoecho says:

Andrea…….why was Anna Wintour blackmailing Zoe???

  50. daisy424 says:

    Xia;

“October 1, 2007 — STYLIST to the stars Rachel Zoe is still feeling the fallout from taunting Vogue empress Anna Wintour. During Fashion Week, Zoe – who styles Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan and Salma Hayek – unwisely bragged, “Anna Wintour is one of my heroes, but they say I’m more influential . . . As great as it is, Vogue won’t change a designer’s business. But if an unknown brand is worn by a certain person in a tabloid, it will be the biggest designer within a week.” Since then, Page Six has learned that Zoe’s longtime agency, Magnet, has dropped her. One spy said, “They didn’t want to anger Anna and Anna is more important to work with.” Magnet declined to comment. Zoe e-mailed, saying, “I left Magnet because I am now repped solely by Todd Shemarya for styling and branding. I love Magnet, and there is no drama surrounding it.” But there was some unrelated drama recently when Zoe’s Beverly Hills home was broken into and “tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of clothing and jewelry was stolen,” our source said. Zoe didn’t comment on the break-in.”

    From Page Six.

  51. Andrea says:

@Roma, I have a male friend who is “Manorexic” All he does is smoke “ciggies” and works out 3x a week and sends me proana links and videos and tells me that he is dedicated to his cause and I should support him.. but I tell him that he should stop but he doesn’t listen. I had an eating disorder 7 years ago but I will never go back to that again. My health is great, no medications, perfect bmi, and my medical chart is 2 pages over 19 years. No illnesses, no smoking, no drinking and somehow skipping one meal causes people to jump on the bandwagon to say, that one meal might cost me 2 seconds of my life later on. It is just when I am working I can’t really stop and eat a burrito, so that is how i survive on coffee! And frankly, all i said was that i can skip a meal during ONE day. Rachel Zoe does it all the time, which is disturbing but she is working to keep her “name” in the fashion industry.
@ xiaoecho: Rachel said something about Anna, I don’t remember, but apparently, Anna got pissed off and refuses to endorse her or let her work with some hollywood starlets.. And since Anna is like a hitler to Hollywood designers and celebrities, what she says goes and during the Marc Jacobs, Zoe went and Anna had her escorted out of the building by security.

  52. xiaoecho says:

Andrea and Daisy…..why does that not surprise me!! Thanx πŸ˜‰

  53. Rhianna says:

Point taken on “normal”. I should have used average. I’m 6′ tall. 145 does NOT look good on a 6′ tall woman, EVER! I care not a wig that it’s 1 lb over the “acceptable” range. I looked worse than this ‘stylist’ at that range. I wore a size 8 and I never want to look that skeletal again, thanks. Like my 36D boobs, hips and ass! πŸ˜†

  54. mollination says:

I like your boobs and ass too Rhianna πŸ˜‰

  55. Aspen says:

Andrea…seriously, Dear. What you listed doesn’t make you vegetarian. With all due respect, since I don’t know you, I’m going to use what you’ve written to make a point about something that SO many vegans and vegetarians have to struggle with.

It is people who do what you are doing who give us all a “fringe” or “hippie freak” label for eating the way we do. It is medically undeniable…and there are MOUNTAINS of evidence to support the superior health benefits of becoming vegetarian. But…when mainstream omnivores see the word, “vegetarian,” all they think of is PeTA craziness and anorexic girls who shun meat and dairy to get skinny.

A vegetarian or vegan is someone who eats a HEALTHY plant-based diet. I am a vegetarian, and I consume at least 1200 calories per day. I exercise, and I pay attention to my nutrition, because I take my health very seriously.

What you wrote to say that you are doing isn’t vegetarianism. What you wrote that you are doing is unhealthy and if you don’t realize that, then you need some assistance from a nutritionist or a physician who can sit with you and tell you what your weight and diet composition should be.

  56. Dani says:

hi, just wanted to weight in – haha! πŸ˜‰
i am 40 years old, 5ft 2in & i now weigh 120 lbs, am a size 2-4. until very recently i weighed only 110 & was a size 0 & i have to say i was sick. i didn’t realize it, but i know now that i was. i didn’t eat during the day, i ate whatever i wanted but mainly only at night & during the day i existed on coffee. i had no energy at all & had a lot of back pain (i do have a back injury.) i would also feel dizzy or naseaus sometimes. i had no idea it was due to not eating. my doc finally told me to eat & i did & now i eat a healthy diet – small meals healthy food many times a day. i gained the weight & frankly i’m not happy about it but i cant’ believe how much better i feel. i will not go back. i also work out daily now, not hard work outs but i am sure to move every day for a bit & that has helped my energy level & back pain so much that i guess i’ll just have to deal with not being a 0 anymore. remember, i am only 5ft maybe 2in, so any more weight – well, it would be a lot on me. any gain at all shows on me very quickly & any more would not be healthy. thanks! πŸ™‚

  57. nico says:

    LOL
    “sick” at 110 and 5’4?
    are you mad?

uh 110 is THICK AND ROBUST at that height…

    holy crap.

    listen all of you
    guess what
    some people are thin.

    lol yup. its true!
    imagine??!?!?!?

I happen to be 5’5 and would be huge if I weighed over 100.

so, looks to me like youre all “the poxes”
and poor rach is just a victim of old fashioned jealous cows.

  58. t says:

americans are fattys, who cares if she doesn’t wanna be one of them.

  59. shine says:

So, she is definitely Anorexic. I am healthy at 5’8 116 lbs but I have dealt with anorexia for 6 years and was down to 95 lbs believe me this woman has an eating disorder.

  60. Karolina says:

Coffee and grapefruit? yeah that sounds like me when i was dealing with anorexia and taking in 300 calories a day..at 5’6″ i weighed 95lbs at my worst, and now looking back i was a skeleton. so sorry rachel, but you don’t “forget” to eat, you choose not to.

  61. samantha says:

I know this was old but I am completely annoyed. One the people who bitch and complain are probably fat women. Two, a size zero is a size idiots, go to a store sometime. I am a size 2, sometimes zero on good days and I’m 5’6 about 113lbs. Unfortunately numbers and sizes don’t matter. They really truly don’t. Although my numbers might seem small I look nothing like rachel and I think her, nicole ritchie, lindsay lohan only looked GOOD when they are that skinny. I think they look amazing and everyones just jealous really. Sorry size 12 is fat and people are born with a specific build to be a certain size as they age. However, just cause people are naturally thin is not a big deal but if you’re fat you ate too much and need to control it. I hate to be rude but I have overweight friends and they even tell me its their fault the way they eat and the only reason they make fun of skinny girls is cause they wish they were that way (and im small according to them & were good friends so they tell me how it really is.). Obviously I know I still need to lose weight but at least im trying and not blaming famous thin people unlike others who just sit around making excuses that a size 12 is average LOL. I liked the woman who posted she’s athletic and can be a 2 or 4..its not unusual to be a size zero and not every celebrity does drugs..some do, yes, but I highly doubt rachel zoe would put her issues and views on others. Eva mendes even said she has never pressured her to lose weight & that’s obvious because eva mendes is still big and does need to lose some, but I haven’t seen her rail thin yet…think about it.

  62. pepper says:

Yea I agree that she looks older than 37. how can you not make food a priority?! That’s a coverup to starving yourself if I ever heard one!

  63. Mina says:

Whether a size 12 is fat or not depends on your height. If you’re 5 feet, it may be. However, I’m 6’1, and a 12 on that frame is quite thin indeed. I think if people eat well and work out regularly, things will fall into place and you should not obsess over a number. Also, many higher end boutiques have smaller sizes than more mainstream stores, so a 2 somewhere may be a 4 or 6 elsewhere. It’s best to focus on looking and feeling your best. Unfortunately, so many women have poor body image that they don’t know when they look good, thus the obsessive focus on numbers.

Rachel Zoe is having vertigo and feeling like fainting all the time. Anorexics always blame their thinness on being to stressed or too busy to eat, but isn’t that the problem, that they don’t put their well-being first by balancing their stress and activity so as to take care of themselves. Think about it. If one is “too busy” to sustain or nurture themselves, what does that say about their self-image? And wouldn’t that same type of person who is obsessed with image and style, have trouble looking inside themselves to see what they are doing? I like the show, but you can see every bone in her chest, and you never see her eating, just drinking coffee or tea after coffee or tea. The vertigo may be from aspartame. I went through a time when I was drinking a lot of iced tea with aspartame, and I got crazy vertigo and nausea myself. It went away when I stopped using it. Use stevia or something else natural, Rachel. Or how about some occasional sugar or honey (gasp!) I wish the woman some insight and some peace. She’s running away from something, but needs to figure out why her life is empty. Money and designer clothes and invitations to the right parties are not the keys to happiness. Does this lady have any close friends that aren’t totally shallow? Who will love her whether she’s rich or in vogue or not? Can one really live a happy life when it’s all about style and no substance?

  64. C.L. in the StL says:

You should NOT be able to see a woman’s ribs below her collarbone. That’s skeletal and frighteningly thin. Rachel’s dizziness is probably due in part to stress, but I have to think that not eating well plays a big part in it, too.

  65. Amber from Baltimore says:

    Samantha,
I’m sorry, but YOU sound psychotic. You sound like you have a serious eating disorder, but, worse than that…it sounds like you also hate other women. You’re 5’6″ and 113 pounds?…and you say you still need to lose weight? Fat matters. Fat is important for regulating hormones. At that height, if you drop below 115 pounds, you’re going to have issues with your menstrual cycle. You sound like an anorexic in denial. Your perception of other women is totally F-ed out of proportion.
The only reason why your “fat” friends may envy you, is because designers make clothes for stick figures, like yourself. Clothing designers don’t make clothes for women with curves. If they did, we would probably be happier. Shopping is a pain in the ass if you’re over a size 8, and have large breasts.

I’d also like to add that Audrey Hepburn was only that thin because she suffered malnutrition as a child/teen during WWII. It stunted her growth. That’s why she was small.

If Audrey Hepburn is thin due to the trauma of World War Two, how do you explain all the healthy, now normal-sized Holocaust survivors?

    Hi,

I find it really disturbing how eating disorders have become so normalised in society today and people are falling prey to them so easily and they are being ‘endorsed’ and ‘normalised’ by celebrities making comments such as Rachel Zoe.

I suffered from an eating disorder in various shapes and forms for 16 years (I’m only 25… I am also a recovered drug addict and have been raped and assaulted numerous times and held at knife point so I have endured a substantial amount of trauma that has chipped away at my self esteem) and it’s taken me this long to find the inner strength and self-belief to rise above all the bull shit and not let it effect me. I don’t have much of an interest in mass media anymore, I barely read the paper or watch TV.

When I hear this stuff I think, if she’s justifying an eating disorder to herself by saying she’s ‘forgetting’ to eat, or someone’s harping on about how little they eat or how they need to lose weight when they’re a healthy weight and there is no medical reason for them to lose weight… I think that’s their problem… it has no bearing upon my life or my perception of myself, I’m not going to let someone else’s insecurities sabotage all of the hard work I’ve done on myself.

I think people use weight and food/body image issues as a crutch and something to focus on when they’re unhappy with other areas of their life. I know that in my case I focussed on losing weight and unhealthy, self destructive coping behaviours to distract myself from family problems, relationship problems, self doubt, etc.

Learning about Intuitive Eating over the years has helped me make peace with food and feel more comfortable in my skin. I eat what I like when I’m hungry, listen to my body, and certainly more than a grapefruit and coffee all day.

I do get busy some days and am in a hurry but I grab food when I can or take food with me because I know that if I let myself get too hungry, I start to feel crazy, I’m inefficient and I can’t sleep if I haven’t had enough to eat during the day. I eat small meals every couple of hours and have a balanced diet and see food as medicine (for other mental health problems I have which I will not mention here) and I do a reasonable amount of exercise when I feel like it.

I maintain around 118-120 lbs at 5’8. My mum was quite slim and I certainly don’t starve myself. I avoid getting into discussions about food and weight with people like the plague and remove myself from unhealthy influences.

She looks like a walking skeleton. She must eat more or better consult a doctor.

I REALLY like Rachel. She’s smart, cool, insightful, interesting, and beautiful (these photos caught her on an off day). I am, however, concerned about her health. She has the classic personality for someone with an eating disorder (thats one to know one!), and the facial appearance is not how anorexics typically look. I suspect she has bulimia and pray she covercomes it. Want her to feel well physically and entirely! LOVE YOU, RACHEL! XOXO!

  70. Deb says:

with poor eating habits and weight loss it definitely shows in ones hair and skin…her hair looks krispy, nicole R’s hair was basically falling out w/her dramatic fast weight loss. these pooor girls are seriously sick in the head, if you only have coffee and grapefruit all day your “ill” if she takes the time to eat a grapefruit she could have easily had a chicken breast w/salad and fruit…so ya, I have to say eating issues=(

  71. MyCatLoves TV says:

I had an eating disorder for nearly 20 years. Actually, I still have it. Bulimia/Anorexia is like being an alcoholic. You never “get over it” — you fight the good fight every day. At one point I was hospitalized and they put IV fluids in me. I saw the swelling and drug my IV pole to a room with a scale…and I was shocked. I signed myself out of the hospital against medical advice. I signed a form that said I understood that I risked sudden cardiac arrest. Nobody likes a fat girl and I was willing to risk my life to be thin. It’s a sickness. It’s an OCD disorder. It’s an obsession. I was married to my eating disorder.

I am alive. I should not be but I am. But, ladies, listen to me. I have brittle bones and arthritis in every joint. The gastroenterologist must dilate my esophogus every couple years since all that puking tore it up. My esophogus is about 1/4 what it should be. I have unusual tissue in my colon — perhaps from years of laxative abuse. For ten years I have suffered idiopathic peripheral neuropathy. Some medical professionals think that lack of vitamin B during the formative years can cause nerve damage later on. The pain is beyond what I can describe here. For so many years I lived and died by the scale. I nearly died. I was sick and I believed I could not be “too thin.”

I am reaping the bitter harvest now. Ladies, take care of yourself! Eat balanced meals and make time to put fuel in the machine that is your body.

The funny thing is….I’m a woman “of a certain age” now and have had many conversations with men about what kind of women they find sexually attractive. TO A MAN, each gentleman stated that he liked a little meat on the bone….a little somethin’/somethin’ to hold on to while making love. This obsession with being a Size Zero is a woman thing. Men just like to see us naked….no matter what else we’ve got going on. If they love us, they love our big butt and our tummy. Just be healthy. And don’t do what I did. I ruined my health and my life. Eat a good diet and find a weight that is healthy and that makes you strong.

  72. Megan says:

I’m so sick of obesity being considered normal in this country. I share the same body type as achel and am fedup with being called sick, skinny an anorexic. Why don’t you people try eating fruits and veggies and avoiding eating out? Fat is not beautiful, sorry

Will someone that loves Rachel please get her some help? I run a medical office and it is apparent to me that she has an eating disorder. The reason she doesn’t want a blood check is she is she is likely doing diet drugs, they are everywhere in LA where she lives. Her family allowing her to be on TV only allows this anorexia/obsession with unhealthy skinny to promote it to other women. She could drop dead any second because of the way she is treating her body.
