Winehouse not going into rehab… again

Who would ever have thought that Amy Winehouse not going into rehab would be a big deal? I mean at any given moment she has a 50/50 shot of being photographed stumbling around drunk and/or stoned. Okay 50/50 is charitable. I can’t fathom the real odds. So why in the world would anyone give a crap that Winehouse isn’t going into rehab today? Because some very legit sources – including the U.K.’s Telegraph ran a story saying that she was checking into a facility near husband Blake Fielder-Civil’s jail – and implied that being closer to her estranged hubby was Winehouse’s true motivation.

The soul artist is reported to have booked into the small Focus 12 clinic in Bury St Edmunds, where comedian Russell Brand was treated for his addiction to drugs.

It is only 15 miles from Category C Highpoint Prison, near Newmarket, where Fielder-Civil was sent after being moved from Pentonville Prison in London earlier this month.

The rehab plan follows Winehouse’s shambolic performances at the weekend’s V Festival in Chelmsford, Essex, which prompted loud boos from the crowd.

Her father Mitch Winehouse said: “This is a very good idea. If she can get clean and still see Blake it can only be good.”

Two weeks ago it was reported that Winehouse was flat-hunting in Bury St Edmunds to make it easier to visit her 26-year-old husband.

[From the Telegraph]

Unfortunately it’s flat-out untrue. Though I’d agree that anything that gets Amy into rehab could be considered better than no rehab at all, getting closer to the jailbird probably isn’t going to do any good.

Winey’s people have cracked down on reports that the undone Londoner is holed up in a rehab facility getting clean (and we mean more than a good wash).

Amy’s rep told us: “The recent stories about Amy going into rehab near Blake’s prison are not true.”

[From TMZ]

Damn it. So close. If only there were some sort of extreme dermatology clinic located near Blake’s jail. Amy should really consider going in house for that. Her “impetigo” (as her rep has called it) has been around for several months. Clearly whatever she’s got going on (I call it fish skin – she’s got scales and in some spots in a certain light you can see a silvery sheen to her face) isn’t getting any better. I’m not a fan of the drunkenness or the rage or the drug abuse. Truly I’m not. But fish skin is something I just can’t tolerate on anyone without a decent set of gills.

Here’s Amy on Thursday night in London after slapping someone in the face. A normal Winehouse night. Images thanks to WENN.

Wonder how much more wrecked she can get before something really bad happens? 🙁

    Wake up Mitch.
I can’t even look at pictures of her anymore……..

  3. Megan says:

I agree daisy, I’m sick of looking at her. Who knew that someone so messed up and physically repulsive could be photographed so much. Looking at her makes me feel like vomiting. She doesn’t even look human any more, she looks like something someone scraped out the bottom of a toilet.

  4. AMJ says:

Ok maybe I am not with it but what is up with the hair? Is it a bowl on her head with hair pulled over it or what? And who told her this looked good enough to not only wear but, wear all the time? 😆

  5. Crux the Magic Dragon says:

Amen, Daisy, gg, and Megan. I’m getting sick of this deathwatch. Knowing that the ‘rehab rumors’ are bunk, Winehouse is once again trying her self-imposed exile. Remember how successful the last attempt was, after going wild and appearing at the 1st concert filthy, dirty and tweaky?

  6. NicoleB. says:

They tried to make me go to rehab…..
    I said No! No! No!

  7. czarina says:

Can her parents do what Britney’s did? Can they get some kind of control over her? Or is Blaaaaaake, as her husband, the only one who could make decisions?
When does the husband get out of jail? I feel like things will be so much worse for her when that deadbeat gets out, it’s like waiting for a disaster to happen.

  8. geronimo says:

Conflicting reports on this. Just read elsewhere dated today (TMZ’s report is yesterday) that she HAS booked in and is (wait for it) planning a fireworks display at Focus so Blakeeeeey will be able to see it from his lonely prison cell come Nov. Although who knows with Amy, she could have checked in and checked out again.

You can see the white powder in her nose in the bottom pic… hee hee..

It looks to me like a syphilitic skin infection. Not that I’d know anything about that, ahem. 😮

    jellus haters, all of you

  12. daisy424 says:

    Blanch; Ooooh that hurts 😛

  13. required says:

doesnt anyone care enough about her to at least give her some soap?

  14. Aspen says:

This woman is filthy. She is CONSTANTLY intoxicated. The husband is in prison…so WHY isn’t someone else taking hold of her? Doesn’t anyone love her? She’s killing herself. Everyone can see it. This woman has parents who presumably do not want her to die. Can you not have people forcibly committed in the UK? She could DEFINITELY be presented before a judge as someone who poses risk to herself and to the community. Why is she still walking around in this state?

And…seriously…she can’t walk down the street without paps shooting photos! Can’t they arrest her for her drug use? You can’t convince me that someone so constantly wrecked out on liquor and drugs has NEVER been doing something illegal in public where the cops could get her on it or the paparazzi could get it in a photo for the cops to use as evidence.

    Something.

Please. She’s going to DIE…and that would be such a tragedy. No one sings like she does. She’s under 30 for God’s sake.

I don’t understand how this is just allowed to happen to someone who obviously has family and friends who are in a position to intervene in a meaningful way.

  15. Snowblood says:

Honestly, I get the sense that her father Mitch actually does NOT care, deep down in his heart, if his daughter dies, in fact – he seems to encourage her. She even SINGS about her father’s attitude in Rehab, “My Daddy says I’m fine,” and all that. Look at the kinds of willfully ignorant comments he makes about her condition! I’m beginning to despise Mitch Winehouse. Amy’s mother seems like a shrinking violet, but sweet, just not very strong, and we NEVer hear about her mother’s take on things, do we?

The fish skin is from drug and alcohol saturation, by the way, JayBird, it will clear up like a charm when she’s clean from the drugs. There’s a lot of bacteria and toxic chemical residue in street heroin and meth, so, it comes out in the skin like that. Horrible, I know.

  16. Snowblood says:

And Blanche, I’m not “jellus” of Amy’s terrible illness, I wouldn’t want that kind of addiction for all the money on planet Earth. I’m not jellus of her amazing talent, either, I enjoy being me and am quite happy with the talents I got to be born with. I just want to keep using this awesome new word, BEST word EVER! I’m so jellus I didn’t come up with it! Blanche, you’re a GEEnyes! 😀

  17. geronimo says:

“I get the sense that her father Mitch actually does NOT care, deep down in his heart, if his daughter dies, in fact – he seems to encourage her.”

Snowblood, just a couple of points. Mitch is not always quoted accurately in the press. Have you seen him lately? Looks like a shadow of his former self, he’s aged about 10 years in the last two. He’s tried, twice, to have Amy sectioned, each time he couldn’t get a second professional sig. as she was deemed only to be a danger to herself, and not others. I can’t seriously believe that you mean this. If you’re saying he’s at his wits end and is totally impotent and powerless as to what to do with her/for her, then yes, I agree, but it’s wrong and unfair to say this about him.

And I know you’re as much a fan of Amy as I am and it’s a f*ked up situation but Mitch is a really decent guy, just as out of his depth in terms of what to do and where to go next as Amy is.

  18. Snowblood says:

I didn’t know that, Geronimo, about him being a decent guy and all. I’m just saying what I felt, the idea I had that maybe he doesn’t, but what do I know? It’s just me gossiping and thinking out loud.

  19. AE says:

Snowblood: It does makes you wonder if Mitch and her entourage are pushing her to perform for the bucks instead of getting her out of the country and into a rehab. It’s so sad that she doesn’t seem to have the support system needed to help her get it back together.

  20. geronimo says:

Snow, yeah, sorry, I know that, just think he gets a very unfair press sometimes. I have a feeling it’s a lot to do with her management and her band. No Amy, no gigs and their living is tied up with hers. But, bottom line, you can’t force someone into rehab.

  21. Orangejulius says:

Just wanted to apologize for SHOUTING on another Wino post. I get pretty worked up about this chick because I’m so nutty about her voice. As a singer, I think I might give my left arm for that. As an alcoholic/addict (not practicing)I cut her way too much slack because I understand it all too well.

  22. Snowblood says:

Don’t worry, OrangeJ, we’ll shout in her defense together, ’cause I love her, too! We can be AMDettes, Amy Winehouse Defenders! We should start a new club. 😆

  23. Snowblood says:

AE & Geronimo, you know – what you said about the band, management & so forth being a deliberately enabling influence on her ’cause she’s their meal ticket, do you guys remember seeing that sequence of paparazzi pics from a few months ago in which her manager or agent, some guy, had dropped by to see her and was clutching what DEFINITEly, assuredly was a bindle of dope in his right hand? He was bringing drugs for Amy – her own fukkin’ manager. I wish I could remember the approximate date of those photos, I could pull them up and show you.

  24. MsTriste says:

She does have impetigo. That’s another name for a serious staph infection. Staph is a really tough bacterial infection to fight, which she needs powerful antibiotics for. The problem is that alcohol deactivates antibiotics. So as long as she keeps drinking, her skin infection will probably not clear up.

  25. Snowblood says:

Oh, so it’s a Staph infection! I didn’t know that’s what Impetigo meant. Well, she probably picked up Staph bacteria from the dirty dope. Because even with using a sterile, brand-new needle, Staph can be in the actual drug itself.

  26. xiaoecho says:

I’m proud to be a AWDette – got knows she needs all the friends she can get, poor love

  27. geronimo says:

AWDette is perfect since it’s the first thing most of us say when we read a new story about her…as in ‘Awwww for f*k’s sake, Amy’. Count me in.

You know, it has to be her management here. How can they defend it? All it’s doing is destroying (what’s left of) her reputation and reminding everyone how far gone she is. Really intrigued to see if this new album (read somewhere it was due out in Nov) actually materialises.

  28. rottenkitty says:

Oh good grief, she doesn’t have impetigo, she has formication (the sensation of flesh crawling with bugs, with associated compulsive picking and infecting sores). It’s one of the side-effects of meth abuse.

Try Googling “The Faces of Meth” to see where she’s going to be in a year. Ew.

But the more fucked up some celebs become, the more rabid and blinkered about them some of their fans get. (Cue random nutcase sobbing eyes out on YouTube wailing, “Leave Amy alone!”)

  29. anastasiabeaverhausen says:

I call Queen of AWDettes. I swear I’m working on a shrine to her in my kitchen, complete with candles and everything.

These pics make me want to cry. I’m not sure I can even read stories about her anymore. I’m going to pretend she’s still the pre-2006 Amy who was beautiful and radiant and so talented and doing well.

But someone who is close to her needs to kidnap her damn ass and put her in rehab. In the UK I think you have to have someone sectioned to do it against their will. Well fucking DO it. Do whatever you have to before she’s found dead. I don’t say things like that lightly.

Those scabs on her face are from the meth use, it’s classic. They pick at their skin relentlessly and cause sores and then they pick the scabs. I saw a woman who had picked a hole clean through her cheek. Amy’s teeth are also suffering from the meth. That’s classic as well.

Meth is death. Live, Amy, live.

A few months. Seems like her face has been falling of for at least a year now.

Blanche; I am overlooking irony?? 😳

Hell, maybe I should be the one taking Vicodin……… 🙄 😉

  34. Blanche says:

I love my Amy, but I am not a loon, I promise. 😳

  35. Aud says:

    Complimements of Wiki:

“Impetigo (sometimes impetaigo) is a superficial bacterial skin infection most common among children 2 to 6 years old.”
“Impetigo is usually caused primarily by Staphylococcus epidermidis, with frequent secondary infection by Streptococcus pyogenes.”

This woman makes my skin crawl. If I ever looked like her or had her reputation I’d be too ashamed to show my face. I’d polly have someone put me out of my misery.

  36. Jill says:

I don’t know, I just know that it doesn’t look like any impetigo I’ve seen.

And alcohol does not inactivate antibiotics–if it really is some kind of staph infection she probably just keeps getting reinfected because she doesn’t look like she’s keeping herself very clean.

  37. Crux the Magic Dragon says:

I’m afraid it’s because of the drugs, she can’t stop picking at her skin. Look at the pics (if you dare) from the 1st V Festival concerts, Winehouse is not wearing any makeup you can see it quite clearly.

  38. Jeanne Clark says:

Winehouse is one scabby, dirty, drugged out, unhealthy train wreck with no destination. Everyday she has her own personal Groundhog day: get stoned, get drunk, attack people, rant and rave and run into traffic, pick skin, smoke the pipe, etc. Everytime I see a picture of her, especially closeup, I wanna heave. Who cares how talented she is. Look st her hands and fingernails. As Will Ferrell’s character said in Zoolander….She only has one look….SCARY!

  39. NonFat Yogi says:

It’s a shame, that Madonna whose voice is robot flat, looks like a rather muscular wrestler, 50 years old, can wow and audience; Winehouse, who is almost 25 years old, can’t even muster the strength to give a half-decent performance.

Let’s hope that Winehouse’s people will bathe and sanitize the poor dear for this Saturday’s performance at Rock en Seine, Paris.
