Levi Johnston, Bristol Palin’s fiance, displays devotion with ring finger tattoo

Pregnant Bristol Palin’s 18 year-old finance, Levi Johnston, sat next to her during her mom’s speech at the Republican National Convention in Minnesota last night. Five months pregnant Bristol, 17, was seen wearing an engagement ring while Levi displayed his devotion with a small tattoo on his left ring finger that spelled out his fiance’s name in script. Bristol and Levi looked a little uncomfortable at times to be in the spotlight:

Pregnant 17-year-old Bristol Palin and her 18-year-old boyfriend Levi Johnston displayed their commitment to each other at Wednesday’s GOP convention.

Johnston debuted a “Bristol” tattoo on his ring finger, while Bristol rocked what appeared to be an engagement ring. (McCain campaign officials have yet to identify the ring.)

In a statement announcing that their daughter was five months pregnant, Sarah and Todd Palin noted that the teenage couple planned to wed.

Levi flew to the convention in Minnesota from his Alaskan hometown on Wednesday. He was warmly greeted at the airport by Sen. John McCain.

Levi’s mother, Sherry Johnston, recently told the Associated Press that there had been no pressure put on her son to marry Bristol and that the two teens had made plans to wed before it was known she was pregnant.

[From US Weekly]

As I said yesterday, I don’t blame the family for making the decision to bring Levi to the convention and put on a show of togetherness. He’s going to marry Bristol, who is due to have his baby in December, and it only makes sense that he should show up after the whole deal was announced. Some journalists and observers are questioning their decision to make an announcement about Bristol’s pregnancy, only to turn around and ask for privacy. It’s not like they could hide her at home, though, where most of the people in their small town already knew about Bristol’s pregnancy. The news was going to get out anyway, and maybe they thought they were trying to head it off or whatever. Now we know that the two kids are crazy in love and that they were supposedly even engaged before Bristol got pregnant.

Debbie Mazar has spoken out about Bristol Palin’s pregnancy. Mazar’s mom was just 15 when she had her, and the actress says that it is a private matter and that we shouldn’t make such a big deal out of it:

Mazar knows all about teen pregnancy. Her mom had her when she was just 15 years old.

“I think it’s completely fine,” Mazar told me earlier today of 17-year-old mom-to-be Bristol Palin while promoting her new movie, The Women (I’ll have more on the flick later on), at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills. “And I think Sarah Palin made a good choice in being supportive of her daughter…and I agree that it’s private because those are her children. Her daughter fell in love and had sex. Big deal—it happens.”
But if it’s anything like her own childhood, Mazar says Sarah will likely hit some rough patches with her child because of her age. “My mom is a great mom and we’re very close,” Mazar says. “But because she had me so young, we had hurdles we had to go through. But it made me who I am today…As long as that kid has love and support, I wish her the best.”

[From E! Online]

The first thing I thought of when I read this is that Mazar’s grandmother must have been around to help raise her. If Bristol’s mom ends up being Vice President it’s not like she’s going to be a lot of help to her daughter with the baby. That’s just something that occurred to me and isn’t meant to disparage her choice to run. I don’t like Sarah Palin or more importantly, John McCain, as candidates for other reasons. Someone’s family situation shouldn’t have a lot of bearing on that.

John McCain met Levi’s plane?? Are you kidding me?

Since when does the Republican presidential candidate meet the plane of the boyfriend of the daughter of his VP running mate.

I know that is a mouthful but give me a freaking break.
Doesn’t he have anything better to do?

  5. texasmom says:

Princess — those exact words ran through my mind — doesn’t McCain have anything better to do than meet Levi at the airport? Whew!

The way to have avoided so much of the crappy weirdness of the situation would have been to announce the daughter’s engagement first (if they were planning to wed anyway) and then the pregnancy announcement could shortly ensue. And everyone would know there was an oops, just like there have been in so very many families (like mine! my dad had to lie about his age throughout his parents’ 50th anniversary party!).

  6. WarriorQueen says:

I almost want to switch my vote because every time I see McCain, I think he’s got maybe 5-6 months left on his warranty. Female pressie!

  7. Syko says:

Cleaned the kid up, didn’t they? Dang, he almost looks like a Republican!

  8. Roma says:

Princess and Texasmom – he apparently flew in with in with Sarah’s husband Todd. It was more a “meeting the family” display, not specifically for Levi.

  9. Kaiser says:

You know, I think a lot of people are beating themselves up for caring/worrying about Gov. Palin’s and Bristol’s situations, and it reminded me of something:

Several years ago, I worked on a congressional race of a young, exciting Dem. He and his wife were in their thirties, and the incumbant Republican was a corrupt bastard in his fifties. My guy had 3 kids – a 5-yr-old, a 3-yr-old and a newborn. The Rep. had older children, no kids still in the house. My guy had smart policies and fresh ideas – he had that Holy Grail of contested districts – 60% of voters agreed with him 60% of the time.

Despite the legit policy discussions, what we kept hearing from voters was how bad they would feel sending my guy to Washington with three young children at home. Women in particular were upset by the idea that, if elected, my guy would be spending so much away from a newborn.

Suffice to say, my guy lost. 🙁

The lesson? Voters are going to care about what they’re going to care about, policies, whines, sexism-cries be damned.

Another lesson – most older voters prefer the devil they know. (It was an older district)

In today’s world, what mother or father wants their 17 year old daughter engaged, let alone pregnant.

After hearing Sarah’s speech last night, I was even more disappointed. I’ve been a republican for a long, long time and all I heard last night was the same old tired rhetoric we normally get…having it come out of a self-proclaimed Hockey Mom’s mouth doesn’t make it new, exciting, and invigorating.

I cannot wait to see the Republican Party spin their staunch Family Value message to accommodate their pick for Vice President.

  11. Diva says:

    Woo Hoo! Tattoos! lmao

does anyone else think that photo of bristol palin looks like she has layers of foam padding stuffed in her shirt and chest area? what is going ON with the chest area? not trying to proffer any conspiracy theories, but what the heck?

and people, McCain has LOTS of extra time on his hands to meet baby daddies and stay at home snow machiners since he has been cancelling all kinds of media appearances and interviews because he is mad at the questions (which werent even about uteruses)

Nothing says true love like fresh ink!
As much as Ma Palin creeps me out the rest of the family are a hoot. Did anyone else catch the cute little sister giving the baby a spit wax? And for the love of support, someone take Bristol bra shopping stat.
Honestly, I feel like I know I shouldn’t be watching them but I can’t tear my eyes away because somethings sure to happen. Better than the Clampetts and the Kettles.

  15. jess says:

to be honest with you…he looks like he’s had that tattoo for a while….

  16. Jen (the other one) says:

You know, having read through all the comments about this story over the last couple days, I think most of the negative commentors would bitch about how inappropriately X-Y-Z situations are being handled, regardless of how this family is handling them.

What I find most disturbing about all the comments is that Sarah Palin shouldn’t be VP because she should be home with her small children. Funny thing is, I haven’t noticed any comments regarding the fact that Barack Obama has two small daughters of his own and maybe he shouldn’t be pursuing the presidency for the same reason.

It’s sexism and misogynism at its worst, and Rudy Giuliani hit the nail on the head last night when he said “How dare they question whether Sarah Palin has enough time to spend with her children and be Vice President? When did they ever ask a man that question? When?!”

Now before you start flaming me, let me say this: I haven’t made up my mind who I’m voting for yet. Both parties have a lot of things right, and both parties have a lot of things wrong. However, on that particular point above, I absolutely 100% agree with the Republicans.

    Just my two cents.

  17. Linda says:

    Breederina

I laughed my butt off watching the spit wax last night!!! It was just too funny and kudo’s to the camera person for maintaining a steady hand while filming – I couldn’t have done it.

jess – interesting point on the tattoo…especially seeing that a minor (under the age of 18) would require parental consent for a tattoo.

Jen (the other one) – The Republicans have pushed a FAMILY VALUES agenda for the LONGEST time. This is politics and when your platform is designed to get all of the conservative Christians to vote for you and your platform of strong FAMILY VALUES – then Sarah is the poster mother for hypocrisy!!

  18. Jess says:

It hasn’t even been a week, and I’m already sick of these people.

  19. Jen (the other one) says:

Lindainteresting point on the tattoo…especially seeing that a minor (under the age of 18) would require parental consent for a tattoo.

Uhm, that Levi kid is 18.

Much better to let the government take charge.

  21. breederina says:

I think we can put Rudy Giuliana right up there too as a poster boy for family values. Man has an amazing domestic track record. Really stellar.

jess, its an expression true love= fresh ink. I agree it looks healed in the photo. Linda, something tells me the tattooing laws aren’t too strictly enforced up thar.

  22. Linda says:

    breederina

We can put John McCain up there as poster boy for family values. He was having an affair with Cindy and trying to divorce his crippled 1st wife!

Again, this is politics and all throughout the primaries, McCain was in serious trouble with the conservative Christians vote – he wasn’t getting it. Thus, bring on Sarah as Vice President. It’s laughable!!!!

  23. tvf says:

Just so I’m sure I’m understanding this right…Barack Obama’s mom is to be admired for going on welfare as a single mom rather than accepting the support of her parents for many years in raising her child, but we’re supposed to be concerned that Bristol, who will be married to a man she’s had a long-term relationship with, who will undoubtedly have the support of extended family, won’t have her mom around? Double standard much? What happened to believing in the strength of women (I’m talking about Bristol as much as I’m talking about Sarah Palin here).

  24. ohmy says:

Thank you Jess!! This is not an average american family & how anyone can say that makes me wonder what kinda family they came from.

“Now we know that the two kids are crazy in love ” ha ha ha!! Yeah… I was crazy in love with my boyfriend at 17 too. By 19, I was a completely different person and so was he. Thankfully we didn’t do something stupid like have a baby!

And let’s face it…. usually (key word there) it’s the Mother that primarily takes care of the children. That’s why people are asking “what about her children”.

  25. Lola says:

I admit I also getting Palin fatigue. I just feel like they are just everywhere. And that Wassila lad who forgets to wear condoms, I don’t see why he should be there. At least it is more fun than hanging around in a small ultra conservative town that knows every one’s secrets.

  26. snackysnaxx says:

    BARRRRRRRF.

They look as natural as American cheese.

Really, what’s more adorable and lovely than teenagers getting knocked up and married these days?

When Jamie Lynn Spears got pregnant, everyone asked, “Does this glorify teen pregnancy?” and I think a lot of people could see that for what it was, plain old white trash shenanigans. But what does it say when the daughter’s mother is running for vice-president of the United States? Shouldn’t the office carry at least a LITTLE BIT of gravitas? Appear just a SMIDGE dignified? And really, did they have to BE there at the convention? All I hear is a bunch of whining about needing their family privacy and then they parade these two poor dumb kids around front and center. If they dont want people to talk about it, then they should SHUT UP about it and LAY LOW for while. Is it that hard?

By any chance, is the Alaskan governor’s mansion a doublewide trailer?

  27. Jen (the other one) says:

ohmyThis is not an average american family

Dammitall, I can’t believe I’m letting myself get sucked into this, but 1. How would you describe the “average” American family?” and 2…

Mom & Dad were high-school sweethearts in a small town and have been married for over 20 years. Dad works a tough, blue-collar job, and Mom gets started in local politics by getting involved in PTA and then runs for City Council. They have a bunch of kids, one of whom has special needs, and one who’s 17 and *gasp* had sex with her boyfriend and oops, got knocked up. Mom & Dad aren’t thrilled with daughter’s situation, but are supporting her during this difficult time. Honestly, if you take out the “Mom’s running for VP”, this family description mirrors many of the families I knew growing up. In other words, pretty darn average.

And for the record, I’m so sick of the “Family Values” crap that gets thrown around. “Family Values” does not equal perfect children and perfect parents who never make mistakes. What is does mean, or should mean, is that a strong, supportive, committed family is important…for parents, for children, and for making it through life’s ups and downs without wanting to slit your wrists. The meaning behind it has gotten so f*ing twisted it’s ridiculous.

Ugh. Damn you people for making me get out my soapbox.

  28. Linda says:

Sorry – one more comment on Palin and it’s the cry for reform!

Alaska leads all states for federal money

Fact: Under Palin’s leadership, state sought $295 per person in earmarks

To her credit, it is down from the $300 per person originally requested.

  29. LiLi says:

    wow!
i never knew having premarital sex and getting pregnant was considered white trash shenanigans
i guess obama’s momma lived in a double wide trailer, snackysnaxx

  30. JoGirl says:

Well put, Linda! If the GOP hadn’t spent the past I-don’t-know-how-many years demonizing exactly the kind of behavior that they now seem to be celebrating in Sarah Palin’s family, I doubt that most people would be making any kind of fuss about Bristol’s young pregnancy. It’s the hypocrasy that’s so galling here.

Now, we know that Bill O’Reilly is a nut, but on last night’s Daily Show, John Stewart showed one clip of O’Reilly brutally criticizing Jamie Lynn Spears and calling her parents “pinheads” last spring. This was right after he showed an O’Reilly clip from this week in which he talked soberly about how we should respect Bristol’s decision and her family’s privacy, and that it would be wrong for any of us to judge them.

Personally, I don’t judge Jamie Lynn or Bristol. I worry for them, but they have every right to make their own decisions and a teen pregnancy can truly happen in any family.

Also, can I just say that although GOP surrogates on TV keep talking about how sleazy the media coverage of Sarah Palin’s family has been, I really haven’t seen any evidence of that other than the tabloids, which are always sleazy about everything. I’m beginning to think that Palin was selected specifically because she had a pregnant teen daugher and would therefore be easy to position as a victim of negative press due to family issues. Even though that negative press hasn’t surfaced, the GOP is pretending that it has.

Once again, the tail is wagging the dog.

  31. breederina says:

not just any ol’ shennanigans but “white trash shennanigans”LOL, between that and Syko’s “getting yourself captured” on the other thread I’m good to go for the day.

Heck, if she earns a bachelors in the next 6 years we can still talk.

  33. bros says:

yah, ‘the other jen’ take out running for VP and you have the perfectly normal american family.

look, im not interested in electing regular joe shchmo from the trailer pageant queen martha suzy homemaker as VP. we are talking about the SECOND HIGHEST OFFICE IN THE US GOVERNMENT. it should not be a joke or a position that any random person as long as they have a human body can fill. there is absolutely nothing dignigfied about this family. take out the running for VP part and you have the spears family, not the average american family. or lord help us if this is considered average.

I too saw the clip comparing what o’reilly said about spears compared to what he is saying about bristol and its unbearably hypocritical. all of this is. ive never seen a bigger pity party than the ones the repulsicans are throwing for themselves about sexism. lol, the party that has dedicated its life to perpetuating it is now crying foul? please.

  34. Linda says:

JoGirl – THANK YOU for getting it – maybe you can take Jen (the other one) aside and explain it to her!

THIS is ABOUT politics and how the Republicans HAVE split this country based off of a FAMILY VALUES platform.

As someone said, it is now about how hypocritical they now look with Sarah Palin on that ticket.

For YEARS, Republicans LOVE the issue teen pregnancy and abortions. They talk about disliking them, but actually abortions and teen pregnancy have a lot to do with keeping these guys in power. While they bemoan the “moral breakdown of our society,” they have actually put in place a system that ensures two indicators of that “moral breakdown” remain high.

It’s the Republican politicians who have held the MORALITY flag high and who have shoved what FAMILY VALUES consist of in America and they have over and over again talked about teen pregnancy as being a big problem with the breakdown of the family in America – that along with abortion, gay marriage and gay adoption. AGAIN – can you see the hypocrisy hitting you square in the face?????

  35. Diva says:

JoGirl – EXACTLY! All of the indignance and “how dare you’s” and stunning war against the “liberal media” and when you look at it, it’s tabloids, gossip and entertainment media that’s the cause, not the news media. I would have thought they would have thought this whole war against the media things out a little more.

Of course, I would have thought they would have thought the vice presidential pick out more, too, so what do I know?

  36. geronimo says:

  37. Bapril says:

Why isn’t anyone commenting on how absolutely insane it is for a 17 year old girl to be engaged? I have never agreed with getting married simply because one is pregnant. I had my son 2 months after I turned 18 and I am positive had I married his biological father, I’d be divorced right now. Any 17 year old would have enough to deal with focusing on a newborn, let alone a new husband to boot.

  38. ohmy says:

Jen (the other one): Are you saying the typical family in your town has 17 year olds that are having babies??
I don’t know about you, but in Orange County, Ca., where I grew up – that’s not the norm. At my high school with a graduating class of 400 or 500 only 3 or 4 girls had babies.

According to the US census bureau about 4 million women have babies each year in the United States. Of this number, about 415,000 are teens ages 15 to 19. The average age of a new mother is 25.2.

The numbers above basically sum up my point. The average American family does not include a knocked up 17 year old.

  39. Homer says:

THe convention seems to be all about personal stuff and nothing about how their party plans to undo all the damage done by Bush and co. That’s what we need to hear about, not the other stuff. They treat us like dumb voters who prefer drama to issues.

  40. Jen (the other one) says:

I give up. I’m not commenting on politics anymore.

  41. Jen (the other one) says:

ohmy ~ Actually, I grew up in a small town in the Rust Belt, and yes, I know a lot of people who got married right out of high school (and are still married), and yes, even a few who were pregnant during high school.

My point, though, was that the notion of an “average” American family is relative. However, I think every “average” American family has issues they need to overcome and tackle together, whether it’s special needs children, teen pregnancy, drug use, or what-have-you.

So for you, no, the Palin family is not a typical “average” American family. You grew up in California for God’s sake, in the OC no less…do we really even want to tackle what’s “average” and “normal” in your neck of the woods?

For the record, I love stories of regular, average, working class people who work hard and and overcome struggle to make something of themselves. I’m not impressed with rich kids who get a free ride. It’s one of the things I really like about Obama, and it’s also one of the things I like about Palin.

But like I said earlier, I’m done with commenting on politics. There’s no point to it, especially here.

  43. JET says:

    To Jen (the other one):

Perhaps you don’t have children of your own. If you did, you might understand the difference between caring for an infant and caring for much older children. This is the difference between Palin and Obama. It’s a painfully obvious difference, but you failed to notice it for some reason.

Anyhow, instead of talking about this woman’s family, we need to start talking about her policies – she has gutted social services in AK, attempted to ban books from the library, believes in abstinence only sex education, thinks creationism should be taught in public school…I can go on and on. If you support her radical right wing agenda, then I suppose you will support her as well, regardless of any family situation.

  44. Linda says:

    JET

Let’s not forget she is TOTALLY against abortion even in the cases of rape and incest, but she doesn’t have a problem with gutting Bambi for sport.

  45. ohmy says:

    Jen (the other one):

Your first argument was about a 17 year old being pregnant. Now, when the numbers prove your wrong, your argument is that every family has issues they need to tackle together. Sorry, but you don’t get to skew your words when the outcome isn’t what you wanted.

As for what’s “average” and “normal” in OC. Don’t base your opinion on what you see on TV (i.e The O.C. or The Hills) as most of us don’t live that life. I grew up in Anaheim, home of the cholas & cholos and it’s pretty scummy if you ask me.

“I’m done with commenting on politics. There’s no point to it, especially here” 🙄

  47. chartreuseoak says:

I’m a cynic and a doubting Thomas. My theory on the Palin thing is this: I think they knew exactly what they were doing and they picked her to be a pretty distration. If their vetting process is as good as the say it is they knew all this and they knew that the media would jump on this, yet they picked her anyway. It’s not like there weren’t other more experienced female Republicans, but then that’s now what they were looking for was it?

I’m not a fan of Obama and I was open to voting for McCain, but now I’m gonna have to vote for Obama. Extremism isn’t good for Muslims and it’s not good for Christians either. I’m tired of religious nuts.

  48. Lizabeth says:

    chartreuseoak —

Exactly! This smells like a distraction from actual issues.

The thing about Palin is this — whatever your views of teenage pregnancy you have to agree that it’s stressful and scary. Bristol has to be feeling awkward and unsure of herself. And now her mom has accepted this nomination that, in effect, thrusts this 17 year old girl into the national spotlight, putting her pregnancy on every news channel and making her a touchstone for debate about teenage pregnancy. She didn’t ask for this. She had sex with her boyfriend and they are now going to get married. Maybe.

So, wouldn’t it have been better for Palin to say no and allow her daughter’s life to remain private instead of fodder for Bill OReilly, among others, for months to come?

I feel sorry for this girl, not just because she has a tough road to go. She now has to do it in the public eye, which can be very harsh. If her mom is elected, heaven help her, because by the time the first term is up, she will be 21, with a 4 year old. God knows, she will have to do a lot more growing up and everyone in the world will be watching every single mistake.

Nice choice Sarah Palin. THAT is what makes me dislike her — that she put her own ambition and that of the Republican party ahead of her daughter.

  49. badrockandroll says:

This is to announce a longish and slightly off-topic rant from an observer who is neither a citizen nor resident of the USA.
    .
I cringe everytime I hear the phrases “white trash” or “trailer park”. Some may call them slang or metaphorical, but to me they are benchmarks of intellectual laziness, and I believe that resorting to the use of such stereotypes is just a different side of the coin of racism. If you want to talk about poor, inward, rural, disadvantaged whites, then go ahead, talk about Abraham Lincoln and his split log trailer for instance. Then talk about what a great dancer Obama and his people must be. It’s all the same to me … sloppy!
    .
Sorry, I just hate those two phrases, and I’ve been coming to a slow boil all week because I’ve seen them everywhere. Please, get back to your political observations. Thank you.

  50. she's only 17 says:

I feel extreme pity for this girl. Not only because she is my age but because my cousin went through the same thing a year ago — except she hid her pregnancy until her belly showed, she got expelled, her boyfriend dumped her, and she is now dealing with the consequences of her ignorance; and by ignorance, I mean the poor instruction she had on the subject. She recently had a scare, too, after her daughter got sick, which pretty much made her realize that parenting is HARD. What makes me feel for Bristol are not only the circumstances but how she’s in the spotlight and fodder for debates.

This is why I vehemently disagree with Palin’s views on sex-ed (and abortion, but this is something I’d rather not talk about now). Sex isn’t filthy, it happens, and when you educate teens about it you reduce their risks of getting sick and things like SURPRISE (!!!) pregnancies. School has NEVER taught me anything but abstinence and it’s sad, embarrassing and awesome when your own mother sits down and tells you, “I’d like you to tell me if you’re sexually active–you know, just to supply you with the right protection.” Why don’t schools come equipped with this knowledge about equally valid alternatives? |:

TBQH, I wouldn’t like Palin as my mom or as a VP.

  51. CeeJay says:

I’m having trouble comprehending everything about Sarah Palin. Do you seriously think she “asked” her kids if they were O.K. with her running for V.P.? No, she told them that this was the opportunity of a lifetime and… “dammit even if it means exposing every last skeleton in the family closet I’m gonna do it!!” I fear for everyone in that family with the exception of Sarah Palin. She got the nickname “barracuda” for a reason. As for the rest of them, after this election is over and their lives have been ripped to shreds they can all return to Alaska and try to put the pieces back together again. Oh, forget that….they’re NOT going back to Alaska. Sarah forgot to tell them that she has been offered a very high powered position within the RNC if she and McCain don’t win the election. This is a train wreck waiting to happen and I only hope I don’t have a front row seat for the next four years!!!

  52. Kat says:

Yes, she looks like a stuffed sausage in that dress. Someone needs to tell her about maternity clothes. That might be a good job for her MOM. And yes, they can clean him up, make him look respectable for a while, but old habits eventually come back. I’m sure the “redneck” will be return.

it’s not your job to tell palin or any other woman how to be a mother or how many hours a day she needs to be working at home.
try some womens studies classes at college, you youngins

  54. Candy Barr says:

    Jen,

Obviously Sarah Palin’s husband can’t get the job done! So yes, her butt should be at home.

Besides her daughter being pregnant, on NPR they said her son is joining the military because the judge gave her son a choice: jail or the military. He was busted for drugs. As a military brat, I know that the Army is for those whose grades aren’t exactly up to par . . . Less than a 2.5, I am sure. When I heard he was joining the Army the other night during the Repub’s convention, I knew his grades had to have been low.

Sarah Palin needs to be at home to make sure the other two turn out O.K.

  55. breederina says:

LiLi, did they cover the Jane collective in some of those women’s studies classes you talk about? It’s one of the many results of women not having reproductive freedom. I for one can’t think of too many acts more misogynists than repealing Roe vs. Wade.

  56. Wizard says:

All i know Rudy needs to get his facts right. Liberal media didn’t start the complaining about Palin’s issues it was Dr. Laura (from what i know is a republican) Republican tend to distort truths for their own benefit of lies. I wonder if Rush Limbaugh(drug addict) will call her baby’s mamma like he did Michele Obama. Republicans are biting Obama’s campaign concept. (Change) Nothing will change with Mccain. He couldn’t beat that idiot in the White House on the same platform, why is it so great now. Also Why does he support a war that is meaningless and wrong. This country was the reason he was a prisoner, also a meaningless war. He of all people should have been against this war like Obama. Something is not right with this country when christian people are doing everything contrary to the bible says. We all are going to hell if we keep this up. Bush has purchased a one way ticket for America to go to Hell, and Sick (post dramatic stress disorder) Mccain will express that ticket for us.

  57. i am not a replublican says:

U HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME…. ALL THIS AND FOR WHAT. AND YOU WONDER WHO AND WHY THIS ECONOMY IS SCREWED UP… OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT YES INDEED HE HAS MY VOTE OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT !!!!!!!!!!

  58. Erin says:

her daughter’s pregnancy becomes an issue because she is a politician who has publicly decried comprehensive sex education. if her own daughter didn’t stick to abstinence, what makes her think that an entire country with differing beliefs, morals, and values should have to?

  59. D.R. Sanchez says:

    BAILOUT 2008 by David Jeffrey

    Like a bloodied warrior,
    laying broken and torn.

Like a dying soldier, hopeless and forlorn.

But the blood, it be green,
    the color of money.

And the soldier is an economy,
and it is anything but funny.

Broken are it’s people and shattered are their dreams.

Thanks to the ultra rich and their full proof schemes.

It is a tragedy with more pain to come.

Finance will be Hell, and their wills will be done.
