Christina Aguilera, T.I., and Kid Rock were surprise guests at a press conference yesterday with Sunday’s VMA host Russell Brand. Aguilera said that she will perform a new single titled “Keep Getting Better” in a future-themed performance that showcases her new look. Aguilera branded herself as a retro pinup for her last album, but her next incarnation will be “all about the future,” and is likely to include red lipstick and plenty of caked-on makeup.
T.I. climbed down a nearby fire escape to announce that he will debut a new song, “Live Your Life,” on Sunday with Rihanna. Kid Rock was shown rehearsing his hit “All Summer Long.” He mentioned that he’ll be on stage with Lil’ Wayne at the awards. Also expect performances by The Jonas Brothers, Pink, Paramore, and Katie Perry. Madonna’s name was not mentioned:

A lengthy black limousine suddenly appeared on the scene, and out of it stepped none other than Christina Aguilera — looking svelte in some majorly high heels — who slinked to the microphone and purred that on show night, she’ll be performing her brand-new single, “Keeps Getting Better,” which is also the name of a best-of album she’s releasing in November.
“You’re going to get a first look and a first listen at my new image and my new sound,” she said. “The last album, the style and sound was about vintage glam — this one is all about the future…”
[T.I.] strode up next to Brand and Aguilera, posed for some photos and then broke the news that he, too, would be debuting a new song (from his forthcoming LP, Paper Trail) on the big show, this one a duet with none other than [Rihanna]…
Aguilera and T.I. then departed, leaving Brand to make even more VMA announcements, including news that in the first 30 minutes of the show, fans can expect appearances by Britney Spears, Rihanna, Pete Wentz, and performances by the Jonas Brothers (to be introduced by Taylor Swift), Rihanna and Katy Perry, who will apparently be trying her hand at replicating [Like a Virgin]…
So inside the stage we went, to watch Rock rip through “All Summer Long” (while wearing white slippers), and then announce one last — thoroughly huge — bit of news: that he’ll be sharing the stage with none other than Lil Wayne.

Kanye West will be closing out the undoubtedly long ceremony, which will include celebrity presenters Jamie Foxx, Chace Crawford, Ashlee Simpson, John Legend, Kobe Bryant, Leona Lewis, Paris Hilton, Slash, Taylor Swift, Shia LaBeouf, the cast of “The Hills,” Michael Phelps, Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan, Scarlett Johansson, Ciara, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Christopher “McLovin” Mintz-Plasse. [Details from MTV]
I’ll tape it and watch the highlights the next day as it’s on super early in the morning my time. These awards ceremonies seem like they’re way too long for the average TV-viewer, even diehard fans, to sit through in their entirety.

Okay, her makeup is SO bad, it looks likes there should be a stick protruding down from the side of her face with some maribou or ribbons on it and topped off by a jester’s hat with bells.
Honestly, she’s got a pretty face and I don’t know why she insists on this ‘look’ - or rather, ‘look away!’ - as I call it.
Less is more in the cosmetics department. Play up your eyes? Great, but tone down the lips and vice-versa.
Her biggest offense de maquillage though is her foundation. Too much and too heavy. Saying it looks like it’s been put on with a trowel is being generous because I’m thinking back-hoe.
Anyway, she’s traipsing down Tammy Faye lane. Don’t get me wrong, TF is cute as buttons but that’s not the issue here. The issue is Christina continually presenting herself this way to people with eyes.

Baholicious: I totally agree. Her makeup is the worst. The fake lashes look like they were applied by her infant son in the dark.

Gotta respect an arrogant twit with another identity crisis.
But you know, keep arguing yourself blue in the face about how you’re your own person, Xtina…it’s amusing listening and watching you make a big contradiction out of yourself.
And FFS, she’s a decent singer, but she’s not THE best. There are MILLIONS of better singers out there, and if anyone sincerely believes she’s famous for her talent and not for being a cute, petite, mildly trashy blonde, you’re delusional.
And really, Christina Aguilera used to be really pretty, but she isn’t anymore, and if she keeps going under the knife, she won’t be pretty at all.
Out of all celebrities, this one gets under my skin the most. She’s ALL the bitchy Hollywood princesses rolled into one.

Not that good, which may be why she’s plastering it on…

There was a point in my life where (as embarassing as this may sound) I considered to get surgery done to look a little bit like her.
But, whether it be that she’s aging like sh-t or already getting botox and surgery done to make her look younger, she’s not as pretty as she used to be, with or without the tons of makeup.
And I’m being COMPLETELY unbiased, because as much as she irritates me, she used to be hot.

A best of album? Is she retiring? Thats depressing. One of the few singers to actually have talent is going away… Way to piss in my cheerios CB!
