A couple of years ago, Joan Rivers had a rotation of jokes which was pretty Angelina Jolie-heavy. It seemed like whenever Joan made an appearance on any show, she had a quip about Angelina’s kids working in a sweatshop or how stupid Angelina was or how Angelina was trying to steal/adopt one of the kids from Slumdog Millionaire. Joan repeated these same jokes ad nauseum, and I remarked about it at the time, basically saying that Joanie needed some new material. Many commenters disagreed, defending Joan an a comedic icon and even agreeing with her in her assessment of Angelina. Let’s see how the worm turns, shall we?
Joan and Melissa Rivers were invited to do a little video interview for Us Weekly a few days ahead of the Oscars. I guess it’s their way of promoting their red carpet show, or their new reality show or something. They got questions about various celebrity encounters, and they tell some fresh stories about Nicole Richie and Leonardo DiCaprio. Then, Joan is asked “If you could do something to anyone, who and what would it be?” Joan’s reply: “I would like to take Jennifer Aniston and put her hair over her f**ing face! I’m so bored with her and her stupid movies. They’re all the same, I don’t know how they get financed.” Here’s the video:
I’m waiting for Joan’s defenders to step up once again. Waiting, waiting, waiting. Regarding her Aniston comments specifically – she wouldn’t have to put Aniston’s hair over her face. Aniston does that already! That’s her signature hairstyle, “The Shaggy Dog” or “Hair In The Face”.

Ok, so I am neutral on the whole Jolie/Jen thing and I don’t see anything wrong with Joan Rivers making jokes. The thing though is that it doesn’t sound like she was making a joke. It sounds like she genuinely doesn’t like Jennifer for some reason. I also think the same can be said for her Jolie “jokes”. Just my opinion.
I love Joan Rivers, so here’s one of her defenders…LOL…you gotta give her some credit, she’s been in the business for a LONG time, WAY longer than Aniston or Jolie Rancher. I actually agree with Joan. Aniston bores me to tears and her movies are terrible. I don’t get her popularity and rarely read posts about her because they are all the same. Maybe it’s because I never liked the show Friends? Or maybe it’s because she seems as interesting as dry toast? Joan Rivers has always been about taking cheap shots. It goes all the way back to her nasty/hateful comments about Elizabeth Taylor. 30 years ago.
Joan had built her career on attacking famous women.
Famous women who had the career she wanted for herself. She is a failed actress. And has always taken great pleasure in attacking who is consider a female with a huge following.
And lets not forget, Joan likes to bite the hand that feeds her.

I think a lot of people who were formerly against Jolie have grudgingly come to respect her for how she has carried herself during the past six years. Even when people were calling her the most vicious names and even posting shit about her children, or when she was being savaged in the tabloids, she never once responded — as if she was above all the nastiness and couldn’t be bothered with it.
I think all the people trying to tear her and Brad apart may have actually made them stronger as a couple.
Didn’t Joan start to get mean when Johnny Carson was retiring & she was hoping to be offered the job & it went to Leno? If she wants to take shots at adults, whether Jolie or Aniston, that’s fine but kids should be off limits.
Jen’s movies get made because generally they make money. Not blockbuster money, but still pretty good for the rom-com. Plus people must like working with her she get some nice parts with Sandler and Stiller. Not a big rom-com fan, but there is an audience. I like her better than Katherine Heigl in these. My problem with Joan is lately some of her jokes just seem like they are being told over and over again, and they weren’t funny the first time.

Not a huge fan of Joan but she is spot on when it comes to roles of JA. She has become boring lately as an actress. Jennifer Aniston’s hair will always come straight down on the sides to hide her round face and wide jawline. She might change the length, add layers or long bangs… but the sides will always be the same to hide the wideness. It’s not like her face is fat, but if you look at that first pic of her, you can see how the area by her ears juts out. If she slicks down the sides and hides that weirdness, her face looks normal.

Frankly, she’s not in a position to discuss or judge who looks like hell when she herself can play an alien in a Doctor Who episode. What Rivers is doing is reverse discrimination. The only reason those roles are called “different” for her is because she doesn’t get the guy in the end. But that’s it — she is playing herself over & over again because that’s all she can do & that’s all that is required of her. The majority of Jen’s fans are fans of hers by DEFAULT, because they feel SORRY for her and hate angelina (for something she never did). They are not fans of HER, for HER. Thats gotta hurt. Angelina and Brad, have kept silent, classy and dignifed from the start. They’ve had outrageous lies and slander hurled at them, they’ve gone through things that no person should go through. I have noticed there are posters here who defended Handler’s comment about Jolie as ‘humour’ even though it was much nastier, targeted her children and did have a personal agenda behind it are now freaking out about Joan and her actual comedy. There are definitely posters who can’t take any criticism whatsoever of Jen. Anyone who insinuates that she is less than perfect is accused of being jealous. Anyone who points out that she is slurring her words when she is slurring her words is imagining things. Anyone who points out things she actually said in interviews that put her in a bad light is paranoid. I am not excusing all Jolie-Pitt commentors because there have been plenty of nasty inexcusable name calling. In this case the joke was really tame and not that big of a deal.
The woman chose to have a career in the public eye and she is 42 years old. (I am not pointing that out to be ageist but to say she is truly an adult and not some baby who needs coddling). Her movies are for public consumption so the public has the right to express their opinion on her films. Comediennes have the right to use her career as a target you can chose to laugh or not.
Brad and Angie did not handle themselves classy. Goin on interviews and saying they feel in love on the set, announcing all their personal business whenever Jen had to promote her movie. They were just more manipulative about how they put themselves out there while Jen was in your face about it. Reese had children so she didn’t need to out Ryan, Jen and Brad did not so she could say what she wanted and what she said wasn’t bad.

For me, it was so tacky of Jennifer to bring up Brad’s kids in some interview (I think it was the infamous VF issue back in 2008) as if she knew them personally. A woman at her age should know better. It made her look like a fool. What really makes me laugh the most is when people to this day want to blame Angelina for ending their marriage. How come nobody wants to blame Brad? He was the one commited to Jennifer after all. I guess it’s easier to point fingers at a woman. Sad.

YOUR memory needs some serious work. Angelina gave her first interview about her life with Brad 2 years after they were together and after they had a child. HOW long did they need to wait. I will also add Jennifer said she bought the magazine Vogue so she could read it. Then waited another 2 years before giving her Uncool remark.. during the time Angie/Brad were getting ready to promote their film.
At some point people move on. And if Aniston was still hurting 2 years after her divorce and after several relationships.. As much as I can’t stand Joan Rivers (find her schtick old and dated), in this case, all she said was that she was bored of the same old same old from Jennifer Aniston, for all intents and purposes. There was no “attack.” She stated her opinion and that was that. I had always hoped Jennifer Aniston would pick challenging roles and grow as an actor. She has chosen to keep herself in the moneymaking niche that is comfortable territory for the most part. For an actor, sticking with one genre, be it romcom, period pieces, or action, is the same as going to a job at the factory every day. You churn out the same old shit for the paycheck and probably don’t truly enjoy what you’re doing, because where’s the challenge?

I don’t know on this one. I like Joan Rivers. I also actually saw Jennifer Aniston in Just Go With It. Jennifer was actually very good (unlike many of her other movies – I get Joan’s point on that). In JGWI, Aniston plays a character close to her own age; she is believable age-wise in this movie. However, Jennifer wins hands down on the hair…I love her hair color and would like to have it done myself. Although, I would have to sell my kidney to afford it.

Aniston has exploited the sympathies of women who really WERE cheated on and used her fans in the lowest possible way. Her marriage failed. Her ex went on with someone else who is younger and most find to be more beautiful, it sucks, but that’s ALL she has to whine about.
She’s trash to put these people and their children through what she has. Even if he DID cheat, which he didn’t, anyone with an OUNCE of dignity would have called off the dogs long long ago.

How many years passed that Angelina finally say MAMS is where they fell in love? Just when will it ever be okay to admit to their children when they fell in love with each other? If I recall right Brad followed her acrossed the country to be with HER. I didn’t see dry humping on balconys or make out sessions with either one till this day. They have nothing to prove…it is what it is and they both seem happy.

Jolie does mostly action/adventure movies; however, the three performances for which she was nominated for an Oscar — and won once — were all dramatic parts (Changeling, A Mighty Heart and Girl, Interrupted). So she can clearly do a variety of roles. Aniston has shown over and over again that she is not comfortable stepping out of her sphere. So unless she gets a role in a TV sitcom playing somebody’s mother, her acting career may be on a pretty short track from here on out.

She’s correct..Jennifer is like a comfortable old shoe you slip into time and time again because you know what to expect..the same character over and over very beige..BUTif you’re looking for excitement, versatility, and talent slip on a tighter, flashy high heel like Angelina..and Joan back away from the surgical procedures…any more surgery you’ll be able to blink your lips…
First off, I agree that Jennifer seems to be playing the same roles over and over again (I wouldn’t know for sure, though, since I haven’t seen her in anything since Friends). But she was always going to get hammered for anything and pretty much everything she said or could have said about Brad and Angelina after they got together. I sometimes wonder whether she gets so viciously attacked because the people who claim that she “maliciously milked it [Brad and Angie’s affair] for sympathy and attention” just can’t handle the fact that they, Brad and Angie, will have the label “adulterer” hanging over their heads for the rest of their lives, and thus feel compelled to blame Jen for Brad and Angie’s actions?
This is important, kids: Joan is not a fame whore. She is a money whore, and has always been completely up-front about it. She loves working at any cost, and she loves getting paid at any cost. She reminds me of Gene Simmons this way: she’s totally shameless about it. She probably had a daughter for business reasons.
She’s the best one-liner comedian alive today, no matter how messed-up her face becomes. And Aniston does suck. No one makes fun of her and it annoys me. I’m glad someone finally did it.
Joan Rivers is so over. She needs to just give it up and spend more time talking to other bitter old bitches who want to hear it. Jennifer Anniston is a DOLL – the only reason Rivers is bitching on her is because she’s done and she knows it. She HAS to dredge up crap about others because it’s all she has. As much as I hate when celebrities talk about other celebrities in interviews, I have to agree with Joan Rivers here. I have said the same thing about Jennifer Aniston in the past couple of years. I have only liked a few of her movies, but they are all the same. She plays the same character in the same type of movie. It is extremely boring.
Joan rivers should be the poster child for surgery gone bad. Melissa is a horse face nasal speaking ugly as her mother loser. She wouldn’t be known if it weren’t for her foul mouthed, un funny mother.
This is all pretty pathetic. I personally like Aniston…partially cause I think at 40 she’s pretty damn hot, but that’s my opinion of course. Anyways if you don’t like Aniston don’t watch her movies, don’t read about her etc. She’s making millions of dollars doing the movies and the movies make money so don’t expect it to stop. On a lighter note I wish Joan would get a new face… so creepy. So quite all the damn bitchin’ about Joan and Aniston, their both way wealthier than us anyways 🙂

Joan Rivers is a nut job. Her husband committed suicide because of her and her devious ways. She is as pathetic as they come. Joan is just a sad human being. She has to stoop to trying to take pictures of her daughter in the shower to make money. I think all the botox went to her tiny brain. The only reason she has any notiriety at all is because of the press. Maybe she can take and pull her butt up over her head and make her face a little bit better than it is right now. Jennifer is fresh, kind and beautiful. She is quietly talented and all you haters are just jealous. She is likeable in her films which is why she makes so many of them and why they are financed. Her success now has nothing to do with Brad Pitt. That’s old news.

Yes, they did handle themselves in a very classy manner. And they have NO ONCE gone on interviews and said they fell in love on set. Get your facts straight and stop confusing tabloid lies with facts. The only one out of the 3 who has proven to be manipulative is Jen. She has been manipulative right from the start, when Brad and Angelina have not said one thing in any interview about it. They were classy. Jen has to make attacks on angelina and brad whenever they have a movie coming out, she tries to upstage them and to steal their thunder. She does this deliberately, every single time Brad or Angelina have a movie coming out or are adopting or having a child. Jen is maliciously manipulative and conniving and Brad and Angelina have been demure, classy and dignifed from the start.

Cheyenne, that interview was completely taken out of context. The interview said AND try to kill each other. Angie was talking about the characters, and thats what all Angelina fans have been getting across to others that use that interview out of context. She said “where their parents fell in love AND TRIED TO KILL EACH OTHER”. Ergo, MR AND MRS SMITH, as CHARACTERS, not them themselves. Unless people think Angelina and Brad tried to kill each other, IN REAL LIFE? The interview is Angelina fans’ pet peeve as the haters try to take it out of context and don’t (conveniently and selectively) quote in IN FULL, and IN CONTEXT. It was no admission of an affair. There never has been an admission of an affair. EVER.

My question again, is so what? An unhappily married man meets his real soul mate and decides he wants out of his marriage. It happens somewhere every day.
