People Magazine has more details of Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds’ wedding on Canada’s Vancouver Island, and it sounds romantic. They picked the ecologically-conscious and exclusive Clayoquat Wilderness Resort, which specializes in weddings and honeymoons, to offer their guests plenty of outdoor activities along with a luxurious nature-themed setting. Guests stayed in well-appointed tents that look more like B&B rooms than roughing it, and include full baths, wood stoves, and plenty of candles to set the mood. The resort’s website says they specialize in medium sized weddings of up to 50 people. Scarlett and Ryan invited under 40 friends and family members, who enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, and likely took advantage of the spa services:
Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynold’s Canadian wedding location wasn’t just to paparazzi-proof their nuptials last weekend, but to allow the couple and their guests to enjoy the great outdoors on Vancouver Island, PEOPLE reports in its latest issue, on sale Friday.
Even the groom, 31, took advantage of the setting – fishing for salmon and halibut while other guests went horseback riding and mountain biking on the grounds of the Clayoquot Wilderness Resort, a luxurious outpost of 20 canvas tents that caters to nature lovers.
“Scarlett wanted a ceremony with just family and a few select friends,” says a source close to the 23-year-old bride. Less than 40 people attended the weddingt.

All that rustic comfort doesn’t come cheap. Rates for just three nights start at $4,458.00 USD, or $4,750 Canadian per person.
Here are some photos of the resort where they stayed, from their website. It looks really nice, and I saw a similar high end tent resort on a special on the Travel Channel a few years ago. It makes me feel relaxed just looking at the pictures.
Scarlett and Ryan are said to be planning another larger reception in order to accommodate more friends and family. Maybe we’ll see some pictures for that one.

In interviews, doesn’t Scarlett come across as a City Mouse? It just seems like all of this outdoorsy crap is more “Country Mouse” Ryan than ScarJo. ZOMG DOOM.
Oh, and if my future husband goes fishing on our honeymoon, I will file for divorce.

I’m guessing they canceled out their eco-friendly stay by flying everyone in and out by private jet.
-
Fishing is not eco-friendly.

I live on Vancouver Island, and not far from where they got married. It is beautiful and very environmentally concious. However, it has now been tainted by Scarlett Johannsen, or however, the hell you spell her stupid name. And she does seem a bit too “city” to really appreciate that kind of country retreat. I mean, it’s pretty getting back to nature. I hope she hated every second of it. The likes of her can just vacation somewhere else.
And yeah, I agree with the flying in by private jet. Probably, and, ridiculous.

This is such B.S., eco-friendly my ass, $5,000 a night, these people are laughable, are they trying to be like us “normal” people, except for the fact that they are filthy rich and so full of themselves that they think that if they are outside, they are roughing it?

That looks like heaven to be but I’m a city gal who always loved the country more . And Scarlett is city chick, so um, this is odd. LEt’s hope opposites really attract. I think Ryan R is the hottest and I wouldn’t care if I was stuck on a glacier long as he was there, ha.
But fishing on the honeymoon is not so sexy. Wow. Yeah, that’s strange..

So city girls can’t enjoy the country? That is total crap. And what if it was Ryan’s idea & she agreed to please him? That IS what married couples do, after all.
Scarlett & Ryan aren’t attention whores so it makes perfect sence that they would have a private personal ceremony.
And why is Ryan fihing while they were there a big deal? He wasn’t doing it during the ceremony. I would never forbid my fiance from doing a calming activity during a stressful couple of days.
It sounds like they had an awesome time hanging out with their friends & family and thats what is important

Right on, Bodhi! How is fishing on your honeymoon any different than any other relaxing activity, like lying on a beach, reading a magazine? God knows millions of newlyweds do THAT on their honeymoon, and I’ve never heard anyone complain!
As for Scarlett seeming like a city girl… I’d hardly call the pricey RESORT they stayed at a “roughing-it” establishment. They weren’t in sleeping bags in a dome tent on the side of a cliff. The “tents” have king-size beds, the food is cooked by a world-class chef, and there’s a spa on the premises, for pete’s sake. I’d say she was totally in her element.

Sounds like this union will last… Not!!!!
He seems grounded but she is still a 23 year old hottie sewing her oats with everyone in hollywood-ya sure-it will last.
hahahaha

Bodhi, Granger - I wasn’t attacking you girls, I just thought it was weird that on their honeymoon, Ryan left her to go fishing. It seems…”fishy”
and not something I would put up with. But hey, that’s me.And compromise is fine, but I bet dollars to doughnuts ScarJo wished she was sitting in a good bar getting hammered on expensive cocktails, rather than waiting in a cabin for her man to come back with some trout for her to gut.

No worries Kaiser. I could see her as Carrie Bradshaw in that episode of SATC when she goes to Aidan’s cabin & freaks out.
-
@Bodhi - Exactly. Where Carrie freaks out because she sees a squirrel.
