Gwyneth Paltrow in Vionnet: lovely or insufferable?

fp_7165669_paltrow_gwyneth_nyc_01_13

Gwyneth Paltrow is just now realizing how much “work” it is to promote a book. It’s not just showing up to places wearing something cute! She actually has to sit there and interact with peasants, signing their precious copies of her gorgeous, elite musings! These are photos of Gwyneth at a book signing in New York on Friday. Her dress is Vionnet – even though I can hate on Gwyneth for nearly anything, this dress is pretty cute on her. It’s too short for a book signing, but whatever. She has nice legs that she obsesses over every minute of every day, so why not show them off? Anyway, these photos of Gwyneth are pretty good. The photographers didn’t catch her making any “Dear God, ARE THE PEASANTS WEARING SWEATPANTS?!?!?” faces.

In case you were wondering what perfect, gorgeous prose came out of Gwyneth’s enslavement to her own perfection, here’s a video that’s been going around – it’s a dramatic reading of some passages from the cookbook:

Perfect. Dame Gwyneth would approve.

By the way, Goopy also had to go BEYOND Manhattan to promote her book. No, not Brooklyn. NEW JERSEY. Oh, Goopy. You know that when she was told to do a signing in Jersey, she had a moment where her soul wept. But she carried on, because the New Jersey peasants also deserved the benefit of her magnificent wisdom. I love that she even tried to fit in with the peasants by wearing something she thought they would appreciate – jeans. Here are the photos from her Saturday New Jersey signing… the bitch looks terrified to be amongst the Jersey masses. You know she asked her publisher to have the chopper on standby.

  1. Isa says:

Thanks Kaiser for posting new entries on Sunday, I was bored out of my wits!

She looks radiant in both outfits if you ask me.
But I will pass on the book.

  2. Blergh says:

I’m no Gwennie fan but I think she looks FABULOUS! The side part, he great skin. BEAMING.

  3. lisa says:

I would love to have seen some pictures of the crowd; if there was one.

She needs to decide what she is or better what she is not. I just saw a youtube video of Amber Riley from Glee singing a version of Somebody Like You by Adele..

Gwyneth needs to take lessons from this girl. She nailed it and did it without any backup just the music. It is sad that Gwyneth is taking attention away from the members of the cast that actually have real raw talent.

regarding the dress.. she has great legs, but that dress is not working on her. It is either too short or the cut is wonky.

I thought she was an actress. When is she going to act. Country Strong only made 20 million dollars. I don’t think it even got an overseas opening. She needs to work on her acting career or just sing. And that begging of JZ to work with him is really pathetic. STOP. STOP.. STOP. and please sit down.

  4. Heather says:

    But are they Juicy Jeans?!

Weird seeing her with a side part.

  5. luls says:

gosh i just realized why she looks so great & different, in these pics! Its the side part in her hair! and the fact that its not totally flat ironed for once! wow, what a big difference a small change makes!

now imagine if she dyed her hair a darker shade & added some more waves?
yeesh, she needs to get a new hairstylist STAT!

  6. Jackson says:

Her hair looks much better this way. So much so, in fact, that I will ignore those joke jeans and the taupe things on her feet. It reeks of trying too hard.

  7. mln76 says:

She looks gorgeous but she’d look better with her mouth taped shut.

  8. Jacq says:

Looks pretty, seems present enough. It looks more like she dressed to the occasion than trying to assimilate herself with Jersey-ites.

  9. Rita says:

I want to see Goopy and Eva Longoria in the same Barnes and Noble cooking their favorite dish during a book signing. Cut-a-bitch food fight!!!

On Goopy’s fash, I have the same bungy belt but I use it to keep the lid on a beer cooler that has a broken latch.

  10. PrettyTarheel says:

This is the best Gwyneth has looked in ages. She’s glowing and those look like genuine smiles. Maybe Chris Martin deigned to have breakfast with her.

  11. njnick says:

For all the nonsense she spews, she does have great legs. They are magnificent – toned, not too skinny, and long.

  12. Susan says:

I love that dress, but the shoes suck. She really looks beautifully radiant! Wow!

  13. S says:

Her hair actually looks lovely here. Side parting is her friend!

  14. Rachel says:

    Gorgeous! I’m loving the cookbook.

  15. OtherChris says:

I don’t dislike the dress, but it’s too short for her. Even if you have the body, after a certain age, daytime dresses that short look like you’re trying too hard to look young. A few inches longer and it would have been fine.

  16. Johnthing says:

The side part is a sorely needed change for Goopy. Her hair finally looks good! And I’m such a hater.

  17. Crash2GO2 says:

She looks really great here. But I never realized how far apart her eyes are!

  18. P.M. says:

Now I like the shoes but not the dress, hair looks better not as flat & dried. And she’s holding the sharpie the wrong way

  19. Sue says:

The dress is ok but to young for her its a dress for someeone in thier 20’s.

  20. Julia says:

She looks beautiful, but the dress is doing something weird at the hemline. Not her fault, obviously…and she does look very pretty.

  21. Toe says:

    She has awesome legs.

  22. Alix says:

The dress is too short and dips right in front in a most unfortunate way. She needs to get over the gladiator sandals. On the other hand, side part and no ironed hair — a total win!

  23. tracking says:

I don’t think she’s every looked better. Fabulous.

  24. janie says:

uh, for how many years did she push away those world famous pancakes since they are not macrobiotic?

  25. Siren6 says:

I don’t really get her trajectory any more. I’m wondering who is guiding her career and what the ultimate goal is, because I’m not entirely sure even Gwyneth gets it anymore (which probably contributes the slightly desperate trying-too-hard vibe so many people are getting from her lately).

Having said that, she looks lovely here. Fresh, pretty, healthy. But I agree with the other comments that she could use a little styling change up; when everyone rejoices when you move your part 2 inches over you know it’s time to walk away from the flat iron!

  26. Dana M says:

    Nice legs, cute dress.

  27. Belle Epoch says:

Side part + fluffy hair = new beginning!

  28. Susan says:

    @ P.M.

That’s a fancy one-touch-click Sharpie! Get it right, PEASANT!

    = P

  29. skibunny says:

    gorgeous!

  30. Elizabeth says:

She looks very good in her Jersey outfit. I think the shoes are a bit over the top for jeans and a sweater but maybe it will play well in the Garden State.

  31. flounder says:

She is obnoxious, but she looks fabulous!

  32. Elizabeth says:

I looked at her book yesterday in Chapters. It looked OK (I never buy cookbooks because I never use the ones I already have) but the dedication at the front was classic Goop. She wanted to thank her friends who had come to her dinner parties – i.e the Hill/McGraws (she meant Faith and Tim) and the Speilbers (she meant Steven and the rife). Classic name dropping – and then below that she thanked her children. No mention of her husband, Mr. Invisible.

  33. original kate says:

“No mention of her husband, Mr. Invisible.”

    yeah…that’s not a good sign.

this clip is so flipping hilarious i snorted coffee through my nose. thanks, kaiser!

  34. Catherine says:

She looks beautiful in these photos. Her skin and hair color look fabulous for her.

  35. Ally says:

The hair and outfits are nice. The manic, brittle smile reminds me of that Tamra housewife.

  36. HotLatino says:

I love her, and think she looks great!

  37. lulu says:

To the person who said they hadn’t noticed her eyes were that far apart – that’s because they weren’t! can’t believe there aren’t more comments about the changes to her eyes – this is NOT due to a side parting!!
By the way, to all those who haven’t watched the clip- WATCH it, it’s very funny!

  38. jasmine says:

i know alot of ppl dnt like her but that doesnt take away from the fact that shes beautiful.BUT…..her fashion sense is crazy!not ugly but its like she refuses to wear clothes that are flattering to her tall slim figure!

  39. lrm says:

i actually love both shoes! esp. the ones with the dress.
neither would or could i wear…but she works them….
and i love the dress. she looks gorgeous and happy.
my fashion 2 cents on this issue.

  40. lrm says:

oh yea and totally agree-side part=great change!

  41. Aries_Mira says:

    I’m loving those shoes!

  42. Nanea says:

If only her smile was a bit more sincere – she should be grateful for every peasant who buys her book and has nothing better to do than to line up and wait for her to sign it, poor sods.

  43. Juliana says:

I believe that in the last pic her pen is turned upside down. Great way of signing the books.

  44. hellen says:

Yes, she does look great. But she has done a little *somthing* to her face, and I suspect the side-part is designed to distract us from noticing.

Or else, those heinous saldals are supposed to be doing the distracting. In which case, that sort of worked.

  45. e says:

OK I hate this biotch but I have to admit that she looks good in these photos.

  46. kazoo says:

anyone hear about the turnout for these signings? it’d be interesting to know.

  47. mayzeee says:

She looks good but she has no sense of style. She looks more like a hedge fund trophy wife who is bored with being a wife of a billioner and spends time doing stuff no one cares about and has no impact. She seriously needs to find a proper stylist. most of the time she looks badly put together like someone who came from a working class family and just buys designer clothes thinking it would make her fashionable.

  48. missy says:

The signing was in Shorthills, NJ. I used to live there and it’s a very lovely, classy town. It’s famous for its mall which has all the top high-end stores like Chanel, Marchesa, Fendi, etc. I’m not suprised that Goopy would do a signing there. It’s a shame that shows like Jersey Shore and Real Housewives of NJ have created this tacky, trashy image of NJ.

  49. Jennifer says:

She looks so beautiful! Both her outfits are A+ and with those legs I’d be rocking em to the grave. p.s. the video is frikkin hilarious.

  50. whitedaisy says:

She is such a pretentious bore.

  51. ctkat1 says:

Love the shoes in both pictures- that dress in the top photo is lovely.

I’m not a Goopy fan, but she’s looking pretty good here.

  52. Mary Jane says:

I actually think she looks really pretty in the jeans pics, although the makeup is a bit too much. Lovin’ the hair! I kinda like Goopy more natural (she also looked pretty in the airport pics the other day).
BUT that dress is awful! She needs to hide those ugly-ass knees! And, WTF is up with that belt?

  53. fallen says:

Her under eye area looks odd in the second pic, i like what she wore though.

  54. Lindy says:

Wow, she looks amazing here–side part, fresh, healthy, great legs with a little muscle on them, and a natural looking smile (in the black dress picture). I actually don’t hate her–I mean, compared with the absolute, uneducated idiocy that most starlets spout these days, Goopy can at least speak in complete sentences, so that’s a point for her.

  55. momo says:

lol now we just need readings from Jude Law and William Shatner.

  56. Caz says:

She looks really good. Like the side parting of her hair – much more flattering than the boring centre part – not flattering on many people. Lots a make up but that’s Ok. OMG I can’t believe I’m going into so much analysis on this. I won’t buy the book – she and Chris have enough money.

  57. MaudeLebowski says:

    Ugliest shoes since Gaga.

  58. Newbie says:

I actually love the outfit with the jeans and the sweater. I like those lazer-cut shoes, too. But the NY outfit is all sorts of fugly. blech.

  59. ordinarygirl86 says:

i’m sorry but that dress is too young for her! people talk smack about how jennifer lopez dresses but gwenyth is just as bad in her ass skimming mini dresses!

  60. Hakura says:

She descended from on high to grace us with her presence… for the 6th time this week. xD She actually looks very pretty this time. (Her face kind of ‘glows’). In the picture with the beige sweater, she almost looks like one of us every day ‘peasant’s.

(I love the shoes in the pic with the beige sweater & jeans. Anyone know who makes them? I know I probably could never afford them, but I’m curious)

  61. Becky says:

I agree with everyone that she looks good here-I like both of her outfits and her hair defiitely looks better parted on the side.

But…I think she definitely has done something to her face. Fillers, botox, maybe something else? There’s a difference that goes beyond a change in hairstyle.

  62. Crash2GO2 says:

Wide set eyes are not something you can achieve with plastic surgery. I actually just went back and looked through photos of her from her first acting debut, and they were just as far apart then. She may have had the skin under them tightened though, adding to their alien appearance.

And I am trying, for the life of me, to figure out what is so offensive about her knees?!

  63. Hmmm says:

At her age, the dress is ridiculously short. Get a clue, you’re pushing 40. Did she get veneers?

You can always tell a fashion victim by their pigeon-toed stance.

Her taste in shoes is excruciatingly tasteless.

  64. jemshoes says:

The best Goopy’s looked in ages … but I still think she looks drawn and tired behind the dazzling smile. Goopy exasperates me but I also think she needs a good girlfriend to sit her down and tell her it’s OK to relax and enjoy her life the way it is without trying to change the world one GOOP newsletter / cookbook at a time. 🙂

  65. jill says:

Sorry but I totally hate her. She is insufferable.

  66. Andie says:

She looks cute in the blue dress..but what would I know? I’m just one of the peasants.

  67. gobo says:

She does look fantastic. God only knows how she manages to look so good with her hectic schedule. Snark.

  68. kazoo says:

ugh, i hate the age thing. there are women who are 10 years younger than her who don’t have the bodies to wear that dress. i say if it looks good, wear it.

  69. crumbcake says:

Not a fan of hers, but have to admit, she looks fantastic in these pictures. The shape of her face looks SO MUCH better with the hair parted to the side–she should never part it straight down the middle ever again–it just makes her face look elongated and adds years.

  70. gobo says:

@Cokie; Hyacinth? As in Bucket? If so; Perfect!

  71. Ari says:

I think I could stand her if she wore more of a bohemian look all the time instead of trying to be fashion forward and edgy. I cannot stand her.

  72. Anti-icon says:

The outfit looks like it has a saggy crotch. So no, not so cute. She is a giant fashion miss….for someone who is supposedly so ‘refined’ I don’t see it. (She’s not ugly.)

  73. Cokie says:

Yep, Gobo, thats my nickname for her. Hyacinth Bucket.

  74. Jeannified says:

Hate those blue shoes with her outfit, but LOVER the tan shoes!
