Kate Hudson & a punked-out Ginnifer Goodwin cover Marie Claire: cute?

marieclaire

Here is the cover for the June issue of Marie Claire, starring Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin. They star in Something Borrowed, that rom-com that already came out (and died quickly, right?). So… this feels kind of dated. Not just because the movie is already out, but because it also appears that Ginnifer and Kate shot this cover a long time before Kate began showing. I don’t even want to talk about Kate right now – her face looks wonky – but look at Ginnifer! That’s one way to come out of rom-com/nice-girl purgatory, right? Chop off most of your hair and tease that junk up until you show everyone that you’re more Ziggy Stardust than Julia Roberts. Ginnifer is so punk. I kind of love it. Anyway, Marie Claire hasn’t released anything from the article, but I did find some good quotes from Ginnifer from another interview she did. Here are some highlights:

Ginnifer on typecasting: “I have done my share of stock characters.”

On Kate: “We really do get along like gangbusters in real life.”

On Big Love: “I loved digging my elbows deep into the character over a period of time,” she says of the series, “instead of doing something in an hour-and-a-half movie.”

Hoping to do another television show, Once Upon a Time: “I pray to the TV gods every day that we will be picked up,” she says of the quirky drama co-created by Adam Horowitz, one of the writers from the hit series Lost. Is Once Upon a Time just as bizarre as Lost? “They are being so top secret about it, I can’t say,” Goodwin confesses. “I will say it does have a Lost flavour to it.”

On being grounded: “In this business, we all have aspirations that are highfalutin,” she says. “But I have no regrets, because I am insanely lucky I get to make a living as an actor every single day.”

See? Ginnifer is pretty cool. I wish she got more work, and I wish that the work was something other than rom-coms and television shows. Maybe her strength is in television, though, in which case, I hope her show does get picked up.

I love short hair, and I think she’s cute…..but she really doesn’t have the ears for that look.

  2. RHONYC says:

the best thing Ginnifer did was cut her hair. she looks amazing and owns the f*ck out of that look.

she separated herself from the pack and it is working for her. i believe she will definitely get more work because of it.

    🙂

  3. Amea says:

Not too impressed by the cover, but that last photo of them is amazing!! They look so good!

  4. Franny says:

ugh. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I HATE Ginnifer and her attitude with that hair. Its seriously all “I’m not a starlet, look how moody I am, I have punk hair but still wear poptart dresses”. She’s such a pretty girl – be pretty!

  5. lucy2 says:

I like Ginnifer, she seems pretty cool and grateful and is a good actress. That movie looked pretty bad though, and I can’t stand Kate Hudson, all she ever does are lame rom coms.

  6. brin says:

The cover is boring but I like Ginnifer Goodwin.

  7. Stephy2585 says:

What a cutie pie. And I can’t help it, I like Kate Hudson too. I like funny women in Hollywood. Who aren’t afraid to be goofy/silly/sometimes do ugly things for a scene (ie: Bridesmaids–which if you haven’t seen, get out the door and go see it!!!!)

FUN FACT—>Ginnifer’s real name is Jennifer.
But since she hails from the South, her name sounded like Gin(instead of Jen).

When she moved, people called her Jennifer, and that didn’t sound to her like her name/how she’d heard it her whole life. So she legally changed the spelling to Ginnifer so it would always be pronounced how she knew it. Neat, huh? It’s like a form of resistance to the central/west coast..She’s got Southern pride. And a funky haircut to boot. Love the girl.

I saw her on R & K awhile back and she told that cute little story.

@ Franny Not sure why you think Ginnifer’s new look is at odds with her “being pretty”. I think she looks very pretty.

Good for her that she wants to try something different. I agree with @RHONYC – she stands out among the pack now. Smart girl!

  9. Ria says:

    she rocks that hairstyle, baby

  10. jay says:

I’m a Ginnifer fan too. I can’t help it. Though I do wish she hadn’t done that He Ain’t Into You movie. Ever since then, her major work seems to be stuck in the rom coms. At least she seems to be fighting the the Kate Hudson Jennifer Aniston path and changing up her look. It helps spice things up since she has a sweet face.

Also, this is way off topic but am I the only one who thinks she should have been the one to replace Katie Holmes in the batman movies? Don’t get me wrong, I like Maggie and at least she acted.

  11. thegreatdefender says:

they both are cute and sexy at the same time, very hard to do

  12. Annaloo says:

Classic gamine and ingenue looks, but have to admit, I’m loving Ginnifer’s look!

  13. Ellie says:

Ugh. I can’t stand Kate Hudson.

  14. ZenB says:

I loathe Kate Hudson! Her man-craziness makes me cringe.

  15. TQB says:

Damn, Ginnifer is rocking the hell out of that hair! I LOVE it. I totally want more Punk Ginnifer. And I mean “want” in a rather dirty way, I must admit. HOT.

  16. original kate says:

the cover is hideous; they look like they’re staggering down the street after a drunken night out.

  17. Slim Charles says:

I screen grabbed that haircut so I can duplicate it. I think she is sooo pretty.

  18. kira says:

CUTE couple alert. GIN-ate. I called it first. 😉

  19. Ari says:

I actually enjoyed this movie it was sort of not what I expected and Kate was SO ANNOYING in it lol…but whatever I think they both look good. I have to say though I am glad that they have some fat fingers (like me lol)

  20. Ron says:

Ginnifer has some serious acting chops and I really hope she lands something great soon. Look her up in Walk the Line. She needs better agents I think.

  21. kazoo says:

the only 2 movies i’ve seen goodwin in are mona lisa smile & he’s just not that into you. in both of them, she annoyed the living hell out of me, so i’m sorry but i hate her. LOL. maybe she’ll do a role in the future that isn’t so whiny and needy and just UGH. but right now, she grates hardcore.

  22. Rhiley says:

So that’s how you spell highfalutin. I’ve actually never seen it written before.

  23. Anna says:

Too bad the movie sucks ass.

  24. Maritza says:

Ginnifer is a good actress and so pretty but seriously, she needs to let her hair grow, at least cover her ears.

  25. Both these ladies have the ears, that’s okay. I like that, “I was born this way”, attitude.

  26. Lynda says:

Get Gin out on her own and away from Kate. it’ll kill her.

  27. joe says:

short hair is not a good hairstyle to hide big elephant ears ginnifer….

  28. Newbie says:

I love both of their respective outfits. They both look gorgeous! And I love Ginnifer’s hair. So cute! And, call me weird, but I love her ears. They set her apart from every other surgically enhanced dingbat. And I love it. She’s beautiful and original-looking. And while I haven’t liked many of Kate’s movies lately, I think she’s adorable too.
