Here are some new photos of last night’s LA Film Festival premiere of Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, which stars Katie Holmes. I remember when Katie filmed this movie in Australia, back in 2009. I thought the premise of the film – spooky horror, with kids – was interesting, and I’ve been wondering what has been taking so long for this film to be released. And now the film got its premiere… on a Sunday, in the middle of the summer. This does not bode well. Katie was there, of course, but her husband was not! Weird? Tom Cruise came to the premiere of Super 8 to support his friends Steven Spielberg and J.J. Abrams. Why not come to support his wife? Hm…
Anyway, the Kate-bot wore this Contrarian dress – which I don’t like. From the waist up, it’s interesting, and it might even be flattering on Katie if she straightened her back, threw back her shoulders and really worked it. But with the poofy skirt, it just looks like a sad, girlish, dated party dress that Katie cut up herself. Meh. I’m not liking her hair, either. Katie has been doing good hair lately, it’s had a lot of body, and she’s been wearing it all fluffed up, which is a really great style for her. This flat-ironed look, with the part down the middle and her hair just lankly laying by her zombie-face… it’s not a good look.
Also: the little girl in the photo is Katie’s costar, not Suri. I was all “Damn, SURI!” But it’s not.

I think she needs bigger boobs.She looks flat=girly, & that tuck-behind-the-ears hair is an absolute no no. Sigh. smh

She is really an attractive woman. The dress is very nice. She just needs to dress with a little more flair. She is still young enough to carry off really cute trendy things. And yes she needs boobs, but I hear Tom doesnt like them.

Funny how her posture improves dramatically when Tom is not around. Proves she is not a natural slouch. I at first got an apron feeling from the dress, but she wears it well.

The front however, looks like she is wearing a 1950s housewife’s apron.
I think she looks good here. So used to seeing her in extremely fug outfits so this looks good.
It kind of reminds me of an apron. I mean, she looks very pretty and all, but the dress…it’s kind of apron-ish to me.
That dress screams “naughty housewife” to me…as in, wearing the apron w/nothing underneath. And it really makes me sad to be able to say, “Oh come on, that’s not Suri-that’s the girl who played Maxine/Max on Wizards of Waverly Place.” (Bailee Madison)

@AHot. Bigger boobs with that dress makes it trashy, no matter how cute it is. I’d love to be able to wear that dress but with D’s, you gotta make sure you’re not looking “easy.” Although it could be perkier but she had a kid, it’s a pass.
The dress is interesting but not quite right I think. The skirt is too flared and the top is too low cut – I also don’t like the cutaway on the side. With some modifications it could be cute, but not as it is. I like the open back and the thin straps and the color. She needs to get her hands out of the pockets. Removing the pockets would reduce the skirt’s flare.
Anyway – as for the trailer…oh my – how sad it is that these are the only roles she can get. And she’s a big Hollywood star? I think she’s officially on the C list and quickly spiraling downward.

She looks adorable. It’s not that her boobs are too small. I actually would not like bigger boobs in the dress. It would take away the cuteness. But she needed perkier (higher) boobs, like Katie Holmes’ old smaller boobs used to look in dresses. Katie’s are hanging. Still, all in all, adorable look

I think she looks pretty here. It’s one thing to say the dress would look better on someone bustier, but I don’t like this suggestion that she “needs” bigger boobs. People come in different sizes.

Looks good for Kate but to pull off that cutout you need a narrow waist otherwise from the side and full on frontal it makes her look fat when she is not. From the back she looks great. Her hair is a flat mess.

She looks better than usual because she is wearing semi-stylish clothing,makeup and jewlry; her hair is groomed and her hammer toes are covered up. Nice change from her signature downbeat slob persona.
