You know how Paz de la Huerta is a plate full of Crazy? One of my new favorite things is an interview from Paz. I really don’t think Paz’s “people” (does she have people?) let her speak that much. They usually just let her take off her clothes for photo shoots, and I feel like she’s being actively encouraged to stay away from journalists, lest she unleash more insane quotes. Remember the NYT interview where Paz talked about how Elvis’s ghost gave her an O? And then she claimed that her sister was always jealous of her, even when she was in the womb, so her sister punched their mother’s stomach? Plate full of crazy.
So Paz has a new interview with the NY Observer, and there are some real gems here. Paz discusses her on-going legal problems (for drunkenly smashing a glass into a reality star’s face), Amy Winehouse and how she (Paz) is a director now.
Paz de la Huerta has kept herself busy between court dates for the altercation she had with reality star Samantha Swetra last Spring. The “Boardwalk Empire” actress is directing a film which she calls her version of The Red Shoes, The New York Observer is reporting.
“I’m finishing directing a film of mine,” she told the daily. It’s “about a woman who‘s unique, and lives in a small village, and is ostracized for being different, for being talented, and then she makes a horrible mistake and because the people in the village are so—you know—jealous of her, they don’t forgive her.”
De la Huerta, who will be acting out the role of the woman, added how this film is a “very important story to tell, especially in an age when the media has to take responsibility for their actions.”
“Look what just happened to Amy Winehouse! Maybe had she not seen so many bad pictures of herself she would have gotten more self esteem,” Ms. Huerta offered, “and not been so self-destructive.”
As to her legal affairs, de la Huerta is trying to stay positive, reinforcing her attorney’s abilities. “I’m not nervous, I have an amazing lawyer,” de la Huerta told The New York Observer. “I learned a lesson from that and it’s important to stay away from publicity-seeking people. You know?” She said, referring to Swetra.
“I just hope for the best outcome,” de la Huerta added. “I want to move on with my life.”

Shall I take it point by point?
1. Her film is about “a woman who‘s unique, and lives in a small village, and is ostracized for being different, for being talented… the people in the village are… jealous of her, they don’t forgive her.” Paz IS that girl! It’s a documentary about her life! She’s so brilliant and talented and no one understands her and all of us are just jealous! This is honestly what goes on in her head.
2. Re: her Amy Winehouse comment – “Look what just happened to Amy Winehouse! Maybe had she not seen so many bad pictures of herself she would have gotten more self esteem… and not been so self-destructive.” Paz is blaming Amy for not only being the subject of bad photos, but for looking at all of the bad photos of herself. I think Paz was trying to blame the media for printing bad photos of celebrities, but… it’s just such a superficial complaint. Amy self-destructed because she saw bad photos of herself, in Paz’s mind.
3. “I learned a lesson from that and it’s important to stay away from publicity-seeking people. You know?” Translation: I’ve learned nothing. I will continue to get wasted and start fights with whoever I want. Watch out.

I think it’s sounded all wrong and weird coming out of her mouth…I think what she meant was that all the press’s focus on Amy’s destructive tendencies instead of her talent probably didn’t help. And I don’t think she’s wrong. I’m jsut glad when i was gong through a rough patch there were no photogs snapping my picture and plastering it on the front pages the next day.

i read that paz has struggled with a large growth under the arm with the scar, and has had to have it removed more than once. she even had to get a breast implant on that side because they had to remove so much tissue. so, it is not really something to be mocked (but this is cele-bitchy, soooo…)

I read an article that she had some sort of disorder that she had to keep getting cysts removed or something? Anyway, I know that’s where the scar came from, I believe it was life threatening and she was actually very, very self conscious of it, even stating that she thought no one could love her because of her scars.
So, it’s no wonder she is projecting that idea onto Amy Winehouse.
And then look, her predicitons come true, and someone points out her “gross” scar.
I’m so glad I’m not a celeb having every little bit of my body picked apart. Paz has plenty of ligit stuff you can pick on (bad makeup, ill fitting clothes, violent tendencies) but there is no reason to pick on her scar, which is somethign she can’t help.

4th photo down: She fell into a vat of bronzer. I think she does the no eye makeup thing because she is going for the ‘Lolita’ look. You know: A young innocent 13 year old oversexed up girl. That would explain the bangs as well.

The picture taken on the street is the only decent photo of her I’ve see in months! I think she doesn’t seem to have so much make up there, maybe that’s why. She would look so much better if she was more natural (less make up & tanning) and changed her hair style.

I too am falling in love with her – she’s completely, deliberately over-the-top crazy, not accidentally, unintentionally crazy. Some “stars” think they’re sane (like Kat von D), whereas I think Paz knows she’s nuts.
The Amy Winehouse comment was terrible, though. I doubt she looked at her photos in the press when she was drinking herself into oblivion (like when she was running around topless in St. Lucia).

Don’t get me wrong, I do think that criminalizing candid photos on magazines would be hurtful to almost anyone’s self-esteem, but there was something larger contributing to why Amy Winehouse hit rock bottom and continued to do so.
I can’t believe there are people out there who mistake this woman for being profound, when she makes the most superficial statements ever. Lady Gaga and Megan Fox too. Is the vapidity the new “deep”?

After her court date yesterday, Paz and 3 others (lawyers? Agents?) had brunch at Petite Abeille in TriBeca, as did I. She ordered the waffles, mounded with whipped cream. She also requested that the waiter bring the white sugar dispenser to the table. Sugar was poured numerous times over the cream. Paz cleaned this plate, then ordered another… Smaller waffle, same amount of cream. More sugar. Then, plate cleaned, same again….. I had to leave after her third plate. I didn’t know who she was until I saw her photo in The Post this morning….. I was just fascinated that a woman with the look of a model would eat like that!!!
