Egotastic has some of the scans from Angelina Jolie’s spread in W Magazine, photographed by her husband partner Brad Pitt. The magazine with its large and much-anticipated photo spread of Angelina and her children came out on the stands yesterday, with the full article published on their website last week. Many of the photos are black and white and appear slightly grainy. There are photos of the side of Angelina’s breast photographed through a thin v-neck t-shirt, her nipple visible, and her butt is shown in a see-through nightgown. (Maybe that negligee was what she meant when she said she packs light but includes “private girl things.”)
Some people thought the tasteful photo of Angelina on the cover breastfeeding one of the twins, which only showed the side of her breast and a little hand poking out, was too provocative. I wonder what they’re going to say about these latest photos.
Angelina has said that she doesn’t walk around the house naked because she has young boys. I also thought she vowed never to get naked on film again, but that was Brad, not her. According to Mr. Skin, she’s been partially naked in 13 films, including Gia, Original Sin and Taking Lives.
She looks great and I don’t see a problem with these shots if everyone is comfortable with them. They’re just a little nudity and it’s not full frontal or anything. Maybe I’ve been living in Europe too long, but I don’t find them shocking or anything. I think I’m more surprised that Angelina and Brad made the decision to include them, knowing the controversy they might cause.
Angelina’s film Changeling is out in the US on October 31. She doesn’t get naked in it, and is generally distraught as a mother whose son goes missing. It’s not likely that even a full nude spread would help increase ticket sales for the film given the subject matter. The theater-going public has generally favored comedies and light escapist films over the past few weeks.

You just know that Brad has naked pictures for his own private viewing, you really can’t print all these black and whites without someone spectulating that way.
That said, given the number of kids she has he’s probably seen her nips more than he’s seen his own in the past couple of months.

it just looks weird. like he’s a stalker or something. dirty. and inappropriate. how can these be private photos if you are making them public. i understand that its for publicity for her upcoming movie that is getting bad reviews but this really does look like they are seeking too much attention. if she is so worried about her kids looking her up in the interweb later, i don’t think these pics should be up for the world to see their mother like that. the breastfeeding pics were classy and touching but these pictures are just oversexualized.

this just proves how narcissistic they really are. why would you expose such private things to a very public magazine? so i guess then that also means that we shouldn’t hear a peep out of them in the future complaining how their private lives are invaded by photographers.

The post says husband - they’re not married, right? I thought they agreed not to get married until everyone could, indicating gay marriage, etc..
Her boys are getting old enough that they can understand those photos.. isn’t it a little hypocritical to say “I don’t walk naked around the house” but release photos that are a little racy? They’re not bad, I would just be worried how the kids would be affected.

I don’t see these pictures as porn, or even racy. They’re more artistic, and unless someone finds the human body objectionable, I don’t see how they could have a problem with the pictures. I think it’s cool that Brad takes pictures of his woman. Obviously he appreciates her beauty.

Nudity or I should say ’slight’ nudity is not a big deal in many cultures. It’s just the human body after all!! However, if those were pics of me (ha!) I wouldn’t necessarily share them with the public, but I guess they don’t mind people seeing those pics! Once you do a (partial) nude scene in a movie (which they’ve done), then I guess it really don’t matter if you do any more nude poses… once you put yourself out there, you’re out there… archived!!!

I like them a lot except for the rear view/stairs one which is slightly seedy and not in the least artistic - perhaps it’s the way it’s cropped. Not sure what Brad was aiming for there? As a full rear view and nude, it would have made a much more interesting image. Also don’t think the visible breast adds anything at all to what is a a beautifully posed/lit picture, and probably my favourite.

I honestly don’t see the big deal. America is soo weird. We can see people being blown up, and wars, and terrorism, etc, but to see a body (that their “god” created) is wrong? I just don’t understand it.

I just don’t think that these pictures are meant to be “private” in the way that we assume that they’re for the couple’s viewing only. They’re being billed as private to boost sales. It’s more that they’re intimate portraits.
Good portraiture should try and express an emotion (either in the subject matter or in the artist) or connect with the viewer on a deeper level than just a static posed shot.
Maybe because my background is in art-history but I don’t find these remotely racy or titillating (studying Cindy Sherman and Robert Mapplethorpe will do that to you
.But I would be willing to bet that if these were paintings and if the subject matter wasn’t known to be AJ, very few of the objectors would bat an eyelid. It’s the immediacy of photography and the fact that there’s no getting around that it’s a real life person and not some composite, it makes some people think it’s seedier than it should be.

For those who keep saying these are “private”, this is a photoshoot, not some pictures Brad has in his private stash (which I am sure he has). These were commissioned by W Magazine, the photographer just happens to be Brad Pitt. Please read the W site to see how they came about.
That being said, there is more nudity in videos (Britney Spears latest) (and on the beach with folks in thongs, and I won’t mention any names) and more is seen on the red carpet these days. Nothing wrong with them at all. Quite refreshing from the over photoshopped stuff that is normal.

Wow, the rear-view picture almost looks as if a ghost walked by the camera, and in that way, I think it is an interesting shot. Also, doesn’t Angelina look a lot like Eva Mendes in the second picture on the bottom set?

I think these are nice pictures. And they are actors after all, using there bodies for a living. I would be more shocked seing a celeb or an anonymous photographed as he is dead (example of the late top model this year)

Maireed, I agree with you that if these were photos/paintings of an unknown woman, nobody would complain. It’s because they’re pics of a rather controversial figure that everyone’s getting their knickers in a knot.
Honestly, though — and correct me if I’m wrong — I don’t think I’ve ever read an interview with Angelina or Brad where they said they want to be left alone, or complained about the constant glare of the media. In fact, IMO, they handle the attention with a lot of grace and good-humour. You never see Brad flipping the bird or trying to punch out a photog; and A almost always smiles for the camera, instead of scowling constantly like other celebs (Julia Roberts, to name one). Is it because they’re narcissistic actors who love attention? Absolutely! Of course they are. Name one actor who ISN’T narcissistic. But it seems to me that Brad and Angelina are confident enough to accept the fact that, as narcissistic actors, they simply have to endure more scrutiny than the average person, and it doesn’t really bother them that much!
Now, when somebody takes pictures of them through the windows of their house, that’s another story, because that’s clearly an invasion of privacy. But if they want to sell half-naked photos of Angelina to a magazine, why should we care? It’s their life.

Anyhoo, I do find the pic of Angie falling out of her top (or whatever) to be very zexy. The breastfeeding pics are still my faves, as are the fish-face one and the Princess Z-in-mommy’s-heels pic.

Keep in mind who is in the photographs people…Angelina freakin’ Jolie!! Have you SEEN some of the racier stuff she has done??? This is nothing for her. I actually find it beautiful and tasteful, especially coming from where she has been. It could have been a lot worse, let me tell ya.

Well I have to say that pulling out the “America is so weird” is like Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton pulling out the race card in two seconds flat. It’s just so easy to pull out the pile on America card and use it to paint with a broad brush (speaking of artistic form). I have had it with any phrase that starts out with “You Americans are so . . .”. I think people forget to look in the mirror.
Having said that, the pictures are lovely but I don’t like the picture with her on the stairs, the angle makes her butt look so square. I would expect a “husband” not to publish such an unflattering picture.

I’m confused about the pic with the tiny baby fingers showing. Which way is she holding the baby? I would assume the baby’s head is in the left crook of her arm (since it’s apparently feeding at the left breast) but if that’s the case where is the rest of the baby (legs, feet etc)? I can see her right forearm resting on her leg but no baby parts. She’s looking down to the right at the baby’s feet? I don’t get it.
Maybe I need to buy the magazine?

On a different note… I like AJ as and actress and think she is very talented. BUT one thing that is grating my ever-lovin nerves is her VOICE. Why can she not change her voice in ANY of her roles? I saw the clips for the Changeling and it sounds like she has a 20’s accent (or something) then she doesn’t. He voice is ALWAYS AJ and it’s annoying me. Other actors change their voices (Meryl Streep, Jon Voight (her own daddy), Cate Blanchett, Glen Close, etc etc) why can’t she hone her craft to master that skill? God, I really wish she would.

Prissa, I think she does accents pretty well - better than most actresses, but not as good as Streep (but who is, really?). On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d give Angie’s accents a 7.

I wouldn’t call the breastfeeding picture “tasteful”… just by the sheer nature of them sharing it (and their potential motives behind sharing it) removes any taste the pictures may’ve had. Brad Pitt has officially jumped the shark. My husband would NEVER let anyone see pictures of me like this.

Prissa, I believe the favored position for breast feeding these days is the “football” hold, the baby is actually at the side of the mother, legs to her back. It seems like that would work better with twins, especially if you’re trying to get them both to the dinner table at the same time. That would also explain why no visible baby parts.
I feel sort of put-upon for being considered an uptight American. American I am, born, raised, and lived half a century in the heartland - not Sarah Palin’s heartland, but the real heartland, the midwest. But I don’t think I’m all that uptight. Stereotypes may sometimes have some basis, but are seldom the absolute truth.

I see nothing wrong with these photos. Granted, I am viewing them as “photographs”, rather than personal shots that had been stashed under a bed.
I think the breastfeeding photos are wonderful. I think women should embrace and view breastfeeding in a way that isn’t something to shy away from or be embarrassed about. It’s not a sexual image. It is a mother nurturing her children. It happens. Humans do it, cows do it, dogs, cats, kangaroos… it is a little fact of life.
I think that he didn’t get enough good light, so it is all very grainy in the others, but that may have been his intention (or maybe he had no intention.)

As an American in another country, I have noticed just how insanely sensitive [some] Americans are. And it is mostly due to what can and cannot be shown on television, which seems to have people very sensitized and easily offended. I am speaking generally here…
Even I, someone who says every word in the book, was shocked when I first moved to England and heard an expletive used on a show at 10am. And then I felt really annoyed at myself for being so offended. It is because I am used to a certain type of television/media in America. Now I view how very bizarre everything tends to be in America, media-wise. Total perception overhaul!People, calm down.
Angelina has never been ashamed or embarrassed or self-conscious about her body, so why would she now? Why wouldn’t she let him share the photographs?Whatever the motives may be, I see nothing offensive here.
Still likely won’t see the film, but that is neither here nor there!

Do people forget that Angelina wasn’t photographed for more than four months, if she is such an “media whore” then why were there NO paparazzi photos of her everyday in France. She was in New York for the Today show last week, yet no paparazzi photos of her.
The only reason she is out know is because she is REQUIRED to promote her movie like ALL celebs that do photo shoots and interviews when they have movies coming out.

And I beg to differ Kaiser. When I saw the trailer, I could distinctly hear when she dropped the accent and that was only in the few minutes the commercial was on. I think it’s just the scratchy voice and screaming that irked me. It reminded me of her performance in Gia, which I absolutely loved, but it turned me off a little because I want to be able to get lost in the character and that screeching voice keeps me focused on AJ. All in all I’ll probably just wait for the DVD. :0)

I love the breastfeeding pictures because you see the glow of genuine happiness in her face. She’s so over hyped about being a mother that it all starts to seem so phony, so it is nice to see that she really loves her babies, and loves being a mother..at least when she’s breast feeding! I understand that breast feeding is a mutually gratifying experience.
A lot of parents are casually nude, or partially nude, around their children. I know that I think nothing of being in various stages of undress around my little girl. But I did kind of wonder about the picture of her in a flimsy see-through nightie laughing with Maddox. Maybe she just wore it for the shoot.

A few days ago, CB blogged about the symposium that Angie attended at the CFR, and the organization that the Jolie-Pitt Foundation started in partnership with Microsoft to form KIND. She was lauded by many in the media for this accomplishment. Do you know how many comments were on that particular thread? 18. But here we have all these comments on a thread posted today.

Hey Cheyenne, thanks for sharing the URL for the video clips of Brad and Angie and kids at the building site in NO. I think I actually wrote a comment criticising Angie’s parenting the other day (blush). God, I get so judgemental sometimes. What a relief to see her all relaxed and normal with her kids.
I started following Angie’s career after I learned that she had adopted Mad from Cambodia (I adopted internationally as well), but after a while things started seeming so out of control with her family, and I take the welfare of children very seriously. Now I feel like a jerk!

I am sure these photos are nt as racy as the ones that he did not publish! The female body is beautiful especially when its being captured by the man you love after you have had his children….wow! There is nothing racy or inappropriate about these pictures. I showed them to my son and he just laughed. We should not be ashamed of who we are. We are to embrace our bodies and our female sensuality. That is pure, it is in our nature, let us all embrace it!

What seemed to you to be “out of control” with her family? Her family grew very quickly, but there didn’t seem to be anything she and Brad couldn’t handle. From what I can see, the kids all look healthy, loved and cherished, and that is the most important thing.

A bit desperate I must say. The movie will still tank. The really sad part is that t hey sold them and made money off them. Cheap is as cheap does. She has always been cheap and trashy. @Clare: Angelina has three hits in a row (Beowulf, Kung Fu Panda and Wanted), and Brad has a hit in Burn After Reading. Neither of them is “desperate”. They have all the attention they want and plenty left over. Unlike someone else who shall remain nameless, whose publicist has to float fake pregnancy rumors for the tabloids to notice her, and who has two completed movies for which she still can’t find a distributor and a third whose previews were so dreadful that the release date was pushed back not once but twice, and may end up as an STD (Straight To Video). Guess who.

These pictures are very sensual and raw. For the simple fact that they were taken a few weeks after she gave birth to twins make them even more beautiful. I am sure if she was suffering from sooooo much post natal depression , she would have never allowed Brad to take photographs of her in that way. So there to all those tabloids out there!
I can just picture the feeling, love, appreciation and sexiness she felt posing her man after giving birth to his precious twins. This is amazing! I am not bashful or so ashamed of my body to where I would not take those types of pictures. I too am very proud of my body and as long as the pictures are not totally full nudity, they are fine!
We especially as women need to be more loving and accepting of our various type of body contures.
I actually bought the magazine and after I saw the pictures, my son wanted to see them and that was fine with me. I explained to him as to why these pictures were taken and he was okay with that (9years old). Teaching kids about sexuality and how to embrace it is good because you teach them about the beauty and the wonder of the human body and what it can create!
To conclue the pics are well done in a very tasteful and loving manner by her man lovingly snapping away. I can imagine the the raw passion after that!

I like Jennifer Aniston, but she must be dying of ENVY right now! I wonder why he never took pics of her or was as touchy feely and enamored with her like that. It’s quite a difficult position to be in, gosh I hope I never experience that kind of sadness.
Anyway I love Angie and Brad, I hope that they make it work regardless of issues which all couples have.
Hopefully, she gets pregnant once more, she’s quite beautiful when expecting as many women are.
I hope that Brad continues to appreciate what he has…meaning Angie, the children and love, love, love!

I don’t see how taking arty photos of one’s partner for a magazine commission is any more tacky than say, Peter Paul Rubens using his wife Saskia as his model, vanGogh using his various partners as his models, Gauguin painting some of his Tahitian lovers as models, Picasso using his lovers as models, etc. etc. etc….
Or, if we’re to bring it to a more modern art form what about directing one’s partner in a film that has risqué scenes - Roger Vadim directing Jane Fonda in Barbarella springs to mind.

@Kaiser. I wanted to get back to you in case you view this again. I will agree I went a little full tilt, this struck a personal chord that I don’t want to get into, but I will say that there may have been a Puritanical DNA strain but have you lookrd at the people walking around the malls lately? We have swung quite left of the Puritans as far as how much skin people show on a daily basis.
I don’t get the desperate comment. I see a misunderstanding here, but I don’t see desperation in my comment. If you noticed I did say the pictures were lovely. I just think the angle of Angie in the “stair” photo is not best for the butt. As most of us have seen, her butt is not as square as that. But when I reflect on it now I will give you that as well because pregnancy changes things.
I will restrain myself in the future, unless someone hits my “mom” button, which is the opposite of “funny bone” and not in located in the same place(I think). I probably should not have been posting yesterday as I appear to have been in less than stellar form.

There are plenty of prudish, yes puritanical people here in the US. He wants to be a bit of an artist, so what? I’m fine with this; they’re tastefully done and more about something very natural and normal shown in a dreamy sort of way than about sex. There’s nothing wrong with that.

Oh yes. She must be the poster child for contradictory statements and “one law for me and one for others”.
She would sell her children if it meant she could get some narcissitic supply. -
PS: Pamela - its not the external actions that always count, its WHY you do them. Unfortunately many narcissists are “do gooders”, because they love the image and adulation.
There are a couple of celebrities that score VERY high on narcissism (for example Madonna) - and Jolie is on that list.
And the truth is that most true humanitarisans almost always keep a rather low profile…
