Two and a Half Men resumes filming with Ashton Kutcher (spoilers)

Two and a Half Men has started filming again, and the first order of business is to kill off the main character so that they can explain why Charlie Sheen will never again grace our television screens in his seminal role playing himself. TMZ had a very spoiler-filled story over the weekend detailing the way that Charlie’s death is explained. They’ve since removed it, but you can still read the details here. (Spoilers obviously, although the cause of death for Charlie might change anyway.)

The funeral for Charlie’s character, Charlie Harper, features prominently during the first show. Here’s more, from OMG!, which also contains some spoilers if you care. New lead Ashton Kutcher is playing an Internet billionaire:

The actor, who plays Walden Schmidt, an Internet billionaire with a broken heart, filmed his first episode of the CBS sitcom Friday night, which included the funeral of Charlie Sheen’s character, TMZ.com reports.

In attendance at Charlie Harper’s funeral were Alan (Jon Cryer), Jake (Angus T. Jones), Charlie’s stalker Rose (Melanie Lynskey) and one of Charlie’s exes (Jenny McCarthy), sources present for the taping told the site. The audience was only privy to certain scenes of the premiere, as to not reveal Charlie’s actual cause of death. Some sort of “accident” was the only thing mentioned in front of the live studio audience, though multiple takes were shot. (We’re guessing it’s an overdose of tiger blood, no?)

Meanwhile, Sheen’s not grieving over the death of Charlie Harper. The actor, who was fired in March Warner Bros. TV after months of growing tension between Sheen and creator Chuck Lorre, tells TMZ he plans to celebrate the end of his character. “I will be watching my fake funeral, attended by my fake ex-girlfriends, from my very, very real movie theater, with my very real hotties in tow.”

[From OMG]

So everything is fine with Charlie because he has his “very real” bought and paid for “hotties” that have taken the place of the last set of “goddesses” who just couldn’t bear to stick around for more than a couple of months. You would think that getting paid tens of thousands of dollars a month to service one guy would be enough to keep a hooker interested, but for the women working on Charlie it obviously wasn’t.

As far as whether Ashton is passable in the lead role on Men, TMZ reports that some audience members say he had good chemistry with Jon Cryer. At least one person said he was “dry and didn’t quite own the character.” Given what we know about the guy’s acting ability, I would put my money on the latter. It hardly matters when the show is as consistently hokey as Two and Half Men, though.

Mornin bellaluna….you’re up early again! ITA….never saw this show before and won’t see it now!

  4. the original bellaluna says:

Mornin brin! Yep, I am. 😉 I’ve never watched either (in fact, I make an effort to change the channel whenever it comes on) so it’s not like I’m going to be missing anything.

  5. Joan says:

As much as I am turned off by Charlie Sheen’s personal life, he was great on the show. His personal antics made for some very funny jokes. I somehow get the impression that Kutcher doesn’t have to worry about filling-in the shoes too much, as the show probably won’t last another season or two.

  6. Samigirl says:

I hate this show, but you know the ratings are going to be off the charts…people who haven’t watched it/don’t watch it…just to see. And…I’m ok with that. I cannot STAND Charlie Sheen. Kill him off twice!

  7. mims says:

Charlie played himself and it wont be the same – I will watch the first show how how they kill him off, but other than that, i wont watch. I like Ashton, but hes no charlie!!

  8. Jilly Bean says:

i figured ashton kutcher was going to play charlies long lost love child… but ok

  9. hater from siloam springs says:

Is Ashton actually turning into that guy he played in the Butterfly Effect? Or is he just homeless and schizophrenic?

  10. Alexa says:

    I LUUUUVVVVVVV BERTA!

  11. Sloane Wyatt says:

What’s wrong with me? I like Ashton and ever since ‘That 70’s Show’, I have thought he was sexy like a big, goofy lover who’d enthusiastically swing you around!

    Yum.

  12. Ellie says:

Sloane. You need to develop and improve your taste. There are more things in life than sugary sweets and talentless actors like Ashton Kutcher. He does not deserve any of what he has. And, it’s only becuase of people like you he is famous.

  13. Javagirl1 says:

Hopefully Ashton Kutcher will be the final nail in the coffin and this retched show will be over.

  14. Hanna says:

This is gonna suck so baaad. Can’t WAIT!

I don’t watch a lot of sitcoms. I watch this and maybe 2 others, occasionally. I really enjoy this show and find it very funny, so I was sorry to see Charlie self-destruct the way he did. TPTB on the show should’ve realized that it was over at that point, and they should have ended the show after Charlie was fired. Replacing essential characters with new ones NEVER works, it is the death knell for any show. I may check out the funeral episode just for sh*ts & giggles, but I won’t be watching the ensuing drivel after that. What’s the point? Whatever one may be able to say about Charlie Sheen, he WAS the show.

  16. The Bobster says:

I give the new show Two and a Half Months.

  17. VeneficA Delirium says:

LMAO @ Two and a Half Jokes, because that’s exactly what the show is.

I’m no Ashton Kutcher fan, but I’d rather him be making millions an episode than Charlie Sheen. Far lesser of both evils. I won’t be watching it though. I watched that show up until Alan started dating that stupid Candi and it started pissing me off.

I’m not that impressed by Charlie Sheen playing a sanitized version of himself on the show. As Charlie Harper, he only had as much charm as he does being himself. He has the charm of a pile of dried vomit. The jokes became way too predictable before I even stopped watching it. Alan says something and it’s a set up for one of Charlie’s puns/innuendos or Charlie says something that’s supposed to fool the audience into expecting as meaningful, but there’s always a “twist” to meaningful comment. Charlie Sheen must be as one-dimensional not “acting” as he can only play himself.

    He still sounds rather butthurt.

  18. Melancholy says:

Could he get a damn haircut?

  19. Piratess says:

I really really like this show…Charlie made the show…as he actually played himself from real life…lol. Ashton Kutcher just does not cut it for me…he refuses to grow up and play the big dumb kid WHICH IS A TOTAL TURN OFF FOR ME. I don’t like his dopey commercials..he’s just plain too dorky and dopey and childish..will not watch after the initial 2 part first episodes probably…this killed the show for me…I feel bad for the other actors…cause the show was terrific!

  20. Joyce Click says:

I wouldn’t have Charlie Sheen’s life for all the money in Hollywood. He sure has himself snowed.
