Madonna is such a legendary control freak that it’s really unfair she gets to live a lifestyle that indulges that mindset. Though the rest of us have to learn to get along in the world without having absolutely every little thing our way, Madonna has been able to buy her way into getting whatever she wants. Case in point: she wants to control Guy Ritchie’s access to their children, so she can have it constantly be however she wants it. That way she’ll never have to acquiesce or even be somewhat considerate of another person’s needs. And in order to get what she wants, Madge is willing to throw another $10 million into the divorce pot.
Madonna has offered Guy Ritchie an additional £5million to dictate his access rights to their three children. The singer has agreed to increase the lump sum cash payment he will get in their divorce from £15million to £20million if he backs down from a court battle over Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight, and David Banda, three.
Legal sources said last night that Mr Ritchie would be well-advised to take the offer since Madonna as their mother would be seen as primary carer. As such, a British judge would most probably rule the children should live with her in New York rather than in England with Guy.
‘Madonna has said to Guy that if she ups the money, then would he agree to her setting out the access for the children until they turn 18. What she is basically saying is that if Guy wants this to go to court, she will get what she wants anyway. Basically she is offering a cash incentive to him to encourage an amicable out-of-court agreement over the children.. Madonna is keen to give Guy good access to the children – but on her terms,’ a source said.
‘Guy wants the children to be educated in Britain – especially his beloved Rocco – but his lawyers will be advising him that if Madonna moves to New York and wants the children with her, a judge is likely to agree.’ Ritchie spent yesterday mulling over the offer with his lawyers.
The offer also contains a clause which will effectively attempt to gag Ritchie and his family from talking about the marriage break-down. Access to the children is the only area of the split Guy and Madonna are now at loggerheads over.

I’m curious how Madonna could possibly gag Guy’s family from saying anything about their marriage. She didn’t marry them, and they’re entitled to say whatever they want. Unless she has in some way supported them or is trying to bribe their silence, she doesn’t have the tiniest ability to make them keep their mouths shut. And that shouldn’t have a thing to do with their custody arrangement.
It goes to show was a control freak she is – to think she wants to keep her in-laws from saying anything negative about her. Quick piece of advice Madge: if you’re so worried about people talking shit about you, stop doing so many shitty things for people to talk about. It would, however, be nice if the judge ordered Madonna and her PR team to be gagged. Their shit-talking has reached epic levels.
I really don’t think Guy would/could be persuaded by money, BUT especially not if seeing Rocco in a Yankee’s shirt made him weep.

The Daily Mail’s “beloved Rocco” phrase seems kinda messed up to me… since Rocco’s the only one of the three children who’s Richie’s biological child. It makes it sound like Richie only likes the kid that he fathered.

You know, I’m 32 – and Madonna is OLD ENOUGH TO BE MY MOTHER. Really, I have friends my age with 49 year old moms. How old is Lourdes? Twelve isn’t she – then she could be my kid. So, in a round about way, Lourdes could be Madonna’s granddaughter.

if i were guy and lived with madonna through all those controlling years, i would be a bit apprehensive to give up full custody.

the word DICTATE just skeeves me out when talking about visitation with your kids. as a product of a broken home and psycho controlling mother, it never works out as planned. the children are at the whim of the mentally/emotionally volatile parent. sadly they are also exposed to all the shit talking that inevitably goes on.

I don’t think she would necessarily get the boys. They are both English citizens, and Guy could easily say he wants them raised and educated there. I think that’s why she’s offering to buy them, she wants to move back to NYC. She gets Lourdes because she wasn’t adopted or naturalized as a British citizen, but David and Rocco are English children.

As for Guy, I have no sympathy for him. If you marry Madonna, you must have some kind of a clue what it’s going to be like when the marriage hits the skids.
Whatever you do Guy, don’t accept that offer if you care about your kids. Even if she wants to give you all of the access in the world, if there isn;t a copperfast agreement bound by some sort of law, even with the best will in the world it will be too easy to change and cancel access plans (on both sides).

On another note, Lola is very much a child of Guy’s. He has been the main man in her daily existence for years. Wasn’t she around three when Madonna met Guy? They’ve been together for around ten years or so I thought. It would be a shame to break up the kids. Even Madonna has said how close the kids are and that Lola is their second (to the nannies) mom. I’m glad that Lola has her biological dad to go to for support, but it must really pain her to read the rumors and see a man who has played such a vital role in her life torn to bits by her mother (and vice versa). No child knows how to handle this situation, hell, I’m in my 20’s and my parents still act like Madonna and Guy and it makes for hard, gut wrenching situations.

If Guy takes the money–even if it’s the best thing for him to do legally to ensure any kind of access–Madonna will spend the next 10 years telling those kids every day how easily their father was bought off. I.e., that he chose money over them.
I wouldn’t think his custody chances in court are that bad. I know in America you have to be REALLY unfit to not get at least 60/40. British courts seem a little weird though to me…seeing as you can be picked up with drugs multiple times and not go to jail ala Pete Doroghty (I don’t care to look up how to spell his name)

Its not cool to criticize Lola’s looks. People complain about the oversexualization of children, and freak out about 15yr old Miley Cyrus, yet want to pull a make over on a 12 yr old?!?!? Lourdes is a child, so let her be one. My mom didn’t let me wear makeup, pluck my eyerows or shave my legs til I was 15, and i don’t look back on my childhood pictures with embarrassment. In the UK the law would try to keep as much continuity going as possible (normality other than the obvious), in the children’s lives, after deciding which parent has had more of the parenting-role.
You’d think Madonna would stay in the UK for the children’s sakes, at least for a while till the children get used to the separation.

I don’t see how he would have any sort of rights to custody with Lourdes since she’s only his stepdaughter. If she lived in New York, she’d actually be closer to her father. The boys are a different story though.

Wow. I think it is just horrible that people think that these poor kids should be seperated. I moved to the other side of the country as a kid after my parents divorce. Kids rebound from moves. They do not rebound from being seperated from each other. That is just cruel. I am all for rights of fathers, but only when it is in the best interest of the children. I also think it is interesting that Madonna and Lourdes’s father have an amicable custody agreement, even while Lourdes has been across the ocean, but people don’t seem to think that Guy will ever see his boys again if Madonna gets custody. That just doesn’t make sense. Of course he will. And for those who say that Madonna is bitter, well I would be too if my soon to be ex was talking sh** about me to the media.
I´m English, I reckon the courts will intervene at some point. Rocco will spend term -time in the UK with his Father, and holidays with his mother. Something like that, family law is different in the UK to that of the US. Rocco himself will get a say.
