These are photos of Angelina Jolie in Croatia, where she stayed for about 48 hours on a whirlwind trip in which she met with Croatia’s president and took in a production of King Lear. Angelina brought her two oldest sons, Pax and Maddox, and there are even some blurry, low-quality pics of Angelina and Madd (below, at the end of the post). She went to the King Lear production at the invitation of actor Rade Serbedzija, the white-haired gentleman in these photos. He’s also been in about a million films, and one of the latest projects is In the Land of Blood and Honey, Angelina’s feature directorial debut (she previously directed a documentary, A Place In Time).
According to a reader of this site, Jolie “managed to say that she liked” the King Lear production, which featured “mostly pretty bad actors” (this is according to the Celebitchy reader!). Google Translator claims Angelina said, “This was an incredible experience. Brilliant performances that celebrate the remarkable way the theater. Otherwise I’m a big fan of Rade Serbedzija, I enjoyed working with him. I have no words for his work, and I hope to be with him one day and play with him.” I sure he would enjoy that very much! She also took a meeting with the president about land mines, apparently at HIS request. Pres. Ivo Josipovic asked Jolie to help with Croatia’s landmine problem:
Angelina Jolie met with the president of Croatia on Friday (19Aug11) to discuss how to tackle land mines in the country.
The actress, who is in Europe while her partner Brad Pitt films his new movie World War Z in various locations around the U.K., flew into Croatia as a guest of her friend and fellow actor Rade Serbedzija.
But Jolie, who serves as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations, turned the trip into a charity mission as she used the opportunity to meet with President Ivo Josipovic.
The pair discussed the nation’s ongoing problem with land mines, which have remained since the country’s war of independence in the 1990s.

Rade (who is an amazing character actor) I think was in Snatch with Brad.. I have seen a list somewhere that some of the JP fans made of all the people they have shared the screen with.. I was amazed at how many coStars they have in common.
I saw an interview and she said the boys were swimming and there was a picture of the 2 boys on a boat so they had some fun while Mom took her meetings.

Oh god her lips are natural . There are pictures of he as a toddler with those lips and all three of her biological kids have them. She really inspires me, and I’m shocked to hear there is already buzz that her movie may be in the Oscar race. You really can’t keep a good woman down.

Well I think she is looking healthier here for some reason. Usually she looks tired and drawn. but she looks rested here.
The theater is on the island Brijuni so she was at the island all the time. Croatian sites say she came on friday afternoon, watched the play, hang out with everybody untill 2 a.m. and she left on saturday around noon, by private plane. It does seem weird that she watched a play in croatian but apparently she was sitting next to the director and she was explaining it to her. People say she was nice and polite.
Cue the comments now about how she is pimping out her kids, how this is all just for publicity, how skinny/fake she is, and so on. Funny how people are more offended by her perceived “fakeness” than they are by the number of people killed and maimed by landmines every year.
no make up?, what a beauty, all natural, she takes her job seriously, i hope she is able to help, horrible those land mines are still there.

I think she is wearing very little makeup. I only say this because someone will run and jump all over that comment. As if Angie put out some statement that she was makeup free. We saw that with the LV ad. she never said it, but she was attacked as if she did.

She got interested in the land mine problem when she was in Cambodia. The Khmer Rouge planted over a million and people are still being maimed by unexploded bombs 25 years later.

I don’t know if it’s that she’s rested or that this is the type of work she really enjoys…that is, the humanitarian work more than the movie work. I agree, she looks much more animated in these pics (and the ones with her kiddies coming out of the toy store) than in most of her red carpet pictures.
I’ve said it before, she always looks happier, or at least more fulfilled, when she’s doing UN missions and other charity work. I can easily see a day where she stops doing movies all together and does this full time.

I’m usually on the bandwagon that Angelina is too skinny, but in these photos she looks really healthy and radiant.
I probably won’t see Angelina’s movie, but I do hope it does well. She obviously put a lot of heart, time, and effort into it, so I hope it goes ok.
Angie does look fantastic and thats sooo sweet how supportive Angie is of her friends and actors. Angie is a great woman and an amazing multi-tasker. I hope to be half of that.

I think she looks well rested here because, well, she has been getting plenty of rest since they’ve been in Scotland, actually since they came to London; and she does really enjoy these humanitarian trips. She’s a very beautiful person, inside and out, and well respected, and greatly admired, for a reason.

She looks great and well rested. She was supposed to attend this play last year with Brad and their whole family but had to cancel for security reasons. Glad she was able to make it this year and also speak with authorities about clearing out land mines left over from war.
Angelina has said several times how going to Cambodia to film Tomb Raider opened her eyes and that she was told exactly where to stand in scenes as landmines were all around the area, and one of the things she has worked to erradicate is the tremendous number of land mines on the property in the Maddox Jolie-Pitt area.
She is a woman of substance.

It’s King Lear. How much of a translation do you need to understand and feel the performances.
These visits help Croatia’s image tremendously. It’s important for formerly wartorn nations to be seen as normal and inviting places for tourism as well as business investment. Same with the Louis Vuitton photo shoot in Cambodia. Perception is everything.

Gorgeous woman, but I don’t like her hair in the top pics.
On a superficial note, while Angie has always had large lips, when she was younger the fullness was more in the lower lip. If u look at celebrity pics of her enough u will notice that the top lip fullness goes up and down especially when she is filming. A fuller upper lip vs. bottom lip is what plastic surgeons often point out as a giveaway of lip fillers. The bottom lip is naturally fuller than the top. As for her childhood / teenage pics, lip fullness always decreases with age.
See the links below for good examples. The first two pics were taken when Angie was a teen, yet her bottom lip is significantly larger than her top. The last pic is from her early-mid 20’s.

Good for her for continuing to focus on the land mines issue. I know it’s an issue close to her heart since she’s had to deal with it at her Cambodian property and the Millenium Village she’s funding there.
It’s great that she went to support one of her cast members in his other endeavors.

@Vesper: exactly. Anyone who doesn’t think this woman has had lip injections is BLIND.
Please don’t jump all over me. Her lips have always been huge. But like Vesper points out (and like others have pointed out in the past, loon or otherwise), her lip shape has changed because she’s maintaining them through fillers. All you need to do is look at these pictures vs. pictures from a couple of years ago. Hell, even these pictures out-do the regular subtlety that she tries to keep (and kudos to her, it’s a job well done. but it’s still a job done, ya know?). Look at the close-ups (2nd and 3rd photo). Her top lip is curling upward from being so swollen. And she’s got tell-tale lumps at the corners of her mouth on BOTH of her lips. I know there are some of you who think that her shit is made of diamonds, and that she’s never had a nose job or done anything unseemly (*rolls eyes*), but seriously, all you have to do is look at the photo evidence. She’s no Nicole Kidman (yikes!), but she’s injecting her lips and she’s not above surgery.
Disclaimer: I know that not all loons are psycho. A rare fan can accept the fact that Jolie has had surgery and that she’s less than a perfect immortal. I used to be one of these. Not so much anymore (am I too obvious? LOL!) with her current politics and personal choices, but I’m not trying to incite the psychos. She’s appealing to her fans on many levels. It’s just mindblowing that people can’t see what’s right in front of them.

I am Croatian and of course it is my favorite country, though I live in L.A. Never seen such a beautiful place except for Scotland. As if I’m not envious enough of Angie, she now has to go reside temporarily in Scotland then pay a visit to Croatia! Btw saw an early screening of her Bosnian film, and whoever said there is Oscar buzz on it is woefully mistaken.
