Robert Pattinson is preparing to record an album “imminently”

In 2008 and in the era known as “pre-Twilight,” Robert Pattinson starred as a depressed young man with a musical pipe dream in How to Be. Fast forward a few years, and the Sparkly One himself is (reportedly) a bit of a boozehound monster with a musical pipe dream of his own in real life; that is, Robert is planning to use the time between now and his upcoming Breaking Dawn: Part One promotional duties to head straight into the music studio and record his very own album of original songs. And the Twihards shall rejoice in ecstasy!

Robert Pattinson, rock star?

The British actor, 25, is prepping to record an album imminently, two sources tell Us Weekly.

“Rob has been kicking a few original songs around for a long time, but his schedule didn’t allow it,” one insider explains of the superstar, who recorded two songs, “Never Think” (which he co-wrote with pal Sam Bradley) and “Let Me Sign” for the original Twilight soundtrack.

“Now he’s got some weeks to get everything in line before going back to promoting Breaking Dawn.”

But don’t expect a chart-topping album with broad mass appeal and a string of top 40 hits. “The album Rob will make will be guitar-based and drums, very organic-sounding, nothing pop,” explains a second source of the indie-music fan, “Like stripped-down Ray LaMontagne meets Van Morrison.”

Pattinson frequently had hotel room jam sessions with other Twilight pals while shooting the flicks in Vancouver and elsewhere. His Twilight costar (and fellow musician) Jackson Rathbone said Kristen Stewart’s man “loves to play the blues. He can hold his own on a guitar. We enjoyed jamming together when we had the time. Very humble and quiet guy.”

“Music is his first love!” says the second source. “He’s tortured because he avoids it. When he’s sitting around jamming in the studio, it’s his favorite moment of life.”

To prep for the recording session, the guitar player has been “studying on on other instruments — like piano and horns,” the first source reveals. “It’s an obsession for him.”

This is going to be awful, right? Even if the music itself is somewhat palatable, the press tour will be excrutiating for Robert to endure. Perhaps he’ll be one of those musicians who refuses to promote or tour, but that won’t get him very far with a record company. Then again, it’s not as if Robert needs the money with his $25 million dollar Breaking Dawn salary. One thing is certain though — if this album actually happens, it needs to be released on vinyl and enclosed within a glittery record sleeve. You know, as a collector’s edition for the Twihards.

I don’t care for Pattinson, but I think this may be a good album.

Before he was an actor, he was a musician and talented guitarist. If it’s an acoustic type album, it may be really good.

Another overrated one movie wonder. Next.

  3. Sweepea says:

    Oh please.

Also I still don’t get why they would split Breaking Dawn into two parts. Peter Jackson and everyone involved with LOTR managed to turn three books into three films and did it REALLY well.

It seems to me like the Twilight crew just copied what WB did with Harry Potter. And I guess with two films, they would get more profit.

  5. Dana says:

I think he should take acting lessons instead, lots and lots of acting lessons.

  6. constance says:

I heard his song in the first twilight soundtrack. It was so bad! He sounded like he was scared and/or crying. I hope he’s spent these past years with a voice coach.

I think people should master 1 craft before moving onto another. He’s got a good think going and should be worried about making movies.

  7. who me? says:

he is actually a pretty good artist, i have a couple of his songs, they aren’t main stream so not every one will like it , i am a huge Ray lamontage fan so i get his style.

Well, most of the comments so far have been kinda harsh. I don’t know why we give creative people such a hard time for wanting to express themselves in different ways. Doesn’t always mean they will be good, but obviously they are compelled to try. I suspect this is more about Pattinson’s passion than about trying to be a successful recording artist.

And one observation about Twihards, most do seem way too wrapped up in that world and in Pattinson/Lautner et al … in the end many seem crazy, yes (just read an E! AT thread)… but after reading the almost 1000 comments over the past few days on this site re: Jolie-Pitt-Anniston, the posting dynamic is very similar between Twihards and Angiloonies/JenHags. Intense fanship is intense fanship, no matter what or who you have it for.

Ugh. Shades of Scarlett Johansson’s self-indulgent vanity project. This is going to be terrible.

  10. Tammy says:

Sorry the guy just cant sing. I thought it was a wailing puppy. Later learned that it was R Patz. He should do everyone else a favor and make music only for himself and may be his twihard fans
The guy just cant act as well .THERE IS NO RANGE. Even in BD trailer he has only one expression that is constipated one.I thought he would improve but you can only improve if you are naturally talented.
In WFTE movie he is so boring that he cannot generate chemistry with the leading lady. Only a real actor can have chemistry with the actress without actually having a real relationship with them
He would need the support of his fans blind love to go a long way. His co star Kristen Stewart is also not helping him. She is the worst so called actress. RANGE IS”0′. She happened to be there because of luck. Surviving because of the intense work of her PR team. She has a dedicated team employed to write good things about her on every article published. Like 1..she a very talented actress[as if]
2..She is a genuine person…. as if somebody cares
3.She is the most gorgeous thing on earth… plain at the best
They give out this propaganda continuously so that people start believing them
The fact is she is a shitty actress ,dead fish expression, average looks, poor social skills with incoherent dialogue delivery. Not capable enough to give a basic interview acts like she has some speech problem

Lainey once mentioned that he auditioned for a role and that people were impressed by his singing, but not his acting. I wonder if he is doing a CD because he is not getting any great movie offers? Cronenberg spoke highly of him but also mentioned how insane his fans were and how difficult it made the shoot….Plus all the important film critics are pretty harsh towards him. He comes off a bit pretentious and I think he might want to make serious movies, like he did with Cronenberg, but those type of people think he is kind of a joke.

  12. mln76 says:

I wonder if he’ll get a pink mohawk like Jared Leto.

  13. Ell says:

I wondered if this would happen some time. I actually think he’s a much better musician than actor. He seems to get lost in music, not sure I’d buy his album but then he might surprise us all.

  14. Dana says:

No doubt all “those” grown women will buy this because it is Robert Pattinson who is the most talented person ever in, well, everything. All the while, real talented, dedicated artists struggle to get their music out there. Let’s face it, without twilight, Robert Pattinson would be playing in 2nd rate bars or on street corners.

@enny, totally agree with the Scarlett comparison.

  15. xxxsolidsender says:

Good God old news!!! That was already denied YESTERDAY!!!

  16. martin says:

    THANKS!!!

I NEEDED A GOOD LAUGH THIS MORNING!!!

    TOO FUNNY!!!

Don’t miss my debut coming out for Christmas 2040!!!

    Martin

  17. chris says:

Rob is a great singer. I’m guessing no one here commenting negatively has actually ever listened to him sing.

Also, MTV debunked this story. Maybe next time it will be true.

  18. Coucou says:

You know this all came about cuz he was hangin’ out on set while K filmed “Runaways.” He smoked some wacky tabacky and said, puff the magic dragon, make me a singer, and away she blows. If he’s lucky.

He should NOT cut off his lanky locks, so pisses me off, just like that Bieber boob, sporting his short doo like it has any right to exist…AS IF.

  19. WeegleFeegle says:

Oh gosh. He sounds like a wailing mountain goat, he really does.

  20. LittleDeadGrrl says:

Yeah I heard one thing he sung and he was awwwwfful. Is he aware he can’t sing?

  21. Cecizahn says:

I don’t know why people is so harsh on him. He is a good actor and honestly his music is very emotional and acustic and good. Come on, give Sparkles a break!!!

  22. Angel says:

Don’t give a crap about him as an actor or person, even, but I actually love the few songs I have heard him sing. Very organic, very soulful, very raw, nothing polished. His style is certainly not for everyone; it can come off as strange to someone not versed in that style, but I was impressed. He’s good.
