The JT story confirms what I’ve suspected about him and Ryan. 1. That Ryan tries too hard and 2. JT is jealous of the respect that Ryan gets as an actor.

Even men can be catty when jealous, apparently. There is NOTHING that JT can say that could take away from Gosling’s obvious acting talent. That is the ONE thing JT does not have. He’s a great singer and dancer and is multi-talented, but as far as acting he is not in Gosling’s league and he never will be. It’s obvious that probably ruffles his feathers a little bit.
Besides, Ryan Gosling was probably being facetious. I actually lived in my friend’s basement (with it’s own entrance, kitchen, 2 bedrooms–huge house within a house) while starting my law practice but I often joke and say that I, “slept on her couch.” it’s a self deprecating way of saying that you crashed somewhere rent free for awhile.

Gosling is no more of a poser than JT, but Gos has many things that JT doesn’t: personality, acting chops, and generosity. When have you ever heard Gosling put down someone he worked with? Never. He always says kind things about those that he’s worked with.

JT’s answer was funny. Even though it’s clear he is jealous, I don’t think he can complain much. He’s still respected in the bizz (singing and acting otherwise they wouldn’t give him parts for lead roles), too bad he’s such a cheating lame douche that doesn’t deserve film roles anyway. But obviously, the Gosling is a poser. It’s so pathetic for somebody of his caliber that it becomes funny.

How would JT know if Gosling is fake? I mean, I’m not who I was when I was 10. A LOT can happen in the decades in between. And by both of their accounts, they’re no longer friends or in regular contact and haven’t been since Mickey Mouse, so that would be like some random kid from my THIRD GRADE class telling the world what I’m like now.

#17 Thinkaboutit: Well the fact that Ryan made his time with JT sound so much worse than it was. There’s a big difference between sleeping on someone’s couch, which bring up images of being homeless/transient lifestyle/crashing on a friends couch until you can afford to get your own place and having your own room which makes things seem much homelier/Ryan was treated like family. Actors love to exaggerate how bad they had it as a kid.

I’m no JT fan but good thing somebody finally calls out Gosling for being fake. Nothing he says or does these days is genuine IMO. Some of the things he says in interviews, you know he practiced them in front of a mirror the night before. Then he goes back on what he says in future interviews or then does the complete opposite of what he says. He’s a “great actor” for a reason.
And I can understand why JT would be pissed that Gosling is making up fake stories. It’s actually prety disrespectful to JT’s mom who kindly took in Gosling and was his guardian for a year for Gosling to make up lies and act like he had it soooo hard.

Does Ryan Gosling really come off as a poser to many of you guys? May ask why I haven’t follow him closely just interviews here and there. I worked with him a few years ago on a set he’s super nice and polite to the crew. The only thing that seemed a bit off was that he was really shy.
Ryan is not a poser in my opinion. I read that article in Esquire magazine about him a few weeks back and thought if anything he comes across as endearing. Now Justin on the other hand is the ULTIMATE poser. I remember when he was at the MTV Awards a few years ago and was so rude on camera to Lauren Conrad when she seemed nothing but nice to him and he proceeded to go on a rant about how he hated that MTV showed reality shows only to do an about face the next year and beg them to air HIS reality show. What a hypocritical douche.

@56 I can see that how Ryan Gosling can appear to be awkward and eccentric. When he talks casually sometimes he stutters, not in a king’s speech kind of way but just a little. He is kind of funny but more like having a dry sense of humor that makes you chuckle. But he is really sweet and a smart guy. One of the nicest actors I have worked with and one of the last person I would imagine to put other people down like making fun of JT.

I even got the impression that he (Ryan) meant to sound grateful to Justin’s family. Justin’s response was incredibly snippy & unnecessary. It only succeeded in making him seem really jealous of Ryan’s success in the career he (Justin) so obviously wants more recognition in.

I don’t understand why people think Justin would be jealous of Ryan, of all people. So, Justin wouldn’t be successful in opening a big budget movie, neither would Ryan. But most of Justin’s movie’s don’t have a big budget and he is known internationally and can give studios more bang for their buck than Ryan ever could. And as far as critical success, Justin mostly has good reviews from critics on his acting if not for the actual movie. So, Ryan has been acting his entire life and Justin just decides to quit music and pursue acting and he gets more press than Ryan? It would seem to me the jealousy would be the other way around. But I don’t think either of them are jealous of the other. That’s just what people on blogs want.
