Great celeb costumes from Bette Midler’s Hulaween gala

Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project threw their 13th annual Halloween party last night, and there were some amazing celeb costumes. So far nothing has beaten the obsessive intensity of the Today Show’s outfits, but there were some pretty great ones at Midler’s party as well. The fancy soiree took place at the Waldorf Astoria and brought in some good B-list celebs last night.

On October 31st, Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project will throw their annual HULAWEEN Gala to raise money for various projects — including the restoration of 57 community gardens and their signature program, MillionTreesNYC. — at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.

The star-studded Halloween event will be hosted by Kathy Griffin with a performance by Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine. Chef Alice Waters from Chez Panisse will be honored with the Wing Beneath My Wings Award for her pioneering advocacy for locally grown and sustainably harvested food. And you know Ecorazzi loves us some local, sustainable food!

The evening’s theme is, “A Ghoulish Green Market”, and costumes – which will be judged by Michael Kors — are required!! Balcony seats are now available for $630 and include pre-dinner cocktail party, dinner, and the evening’s program with Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine’s performance. Or, if you’re on a budget, you can attend the Junior Committee After-Party Disco/Casino Night for a mere $150.00 smackers.

Sounds pricey. But it looks like a great time was had by all. I love how much everyone gets into their costumes – I think Suze Orman’s is actually the best. I’ve never seen a costume that was such an accurate representation of someone’s personality. Not just the money, but the way it’s bursting in such an upbeat fashion.

Here’s Pink, Miss USA Crystle Stewart, Gloria Gaynor, Alice Waters, Kathy Griffin, Kathy Griffin, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bette Midler and Gloria Estefan, Suze Orman again, Michael Kors, Kate Pierson of The B-52′s, Patti Smyth and John McEnroe. Images thanks to WENN.

Gloria Estefan looks sad and pathetic. What the hell is she dressed up as anyway? A goth dominatrix 30 yrs younger than she actually is? These are some pretty bad costumes. Whats that thing with all the money? And is Miss USA so unrecognizable that she had to wear her sash with her costume? Boy thats one D List party.
