Eight years ago, when she was only 17, Jessica Biel posed naked for Gear magazine. Supposedly she did it to get out of her contract on 7th Heaven, and it certainly worked. Her career didn’t exactly take off immediately after that (unless you count appearing with Freddie Prinze, Jr. 2001’s “Summer Catch” to be taking off) and she ended up back on the show in guests spots. Though her career has certainly rebounded, Biel admits she regrets the decision to pose nude but has ultimately grown from it.
Actress Jessica Biel has said that she regrets posing nude for a magazine photoshoot when she was 17.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the actress said: “That photoshoot was just a really bad decision on my part and I got myself involved with people who weren’t thinking about me and were instead thinking about what kind of a story they could get out of it.”
“I learned a whole lot from the experience, so it was definitely a blessing in disguise.”

I’m still confused as to how those photos were able to be printed if she was 17. I vaguely remember them causing a stir, but unfortunately when you Google “Jessica Biel” and “Gear” you just get a lot of boobie pictures. She’s technically only semi-nude on the cover, which basically means her nipples are covered. But there’s nips all over the place in the rest of the pictures.
I wonder why she’s publicly expressing remorse now. Her film career seems to be going fine but is certainly nothing remarkable. The most commonly discussed things about her are her butt and her relationship with boyfriend Justin Timberlake. She does seem to be trying to move on to more mature roles - perhaps Jessica is more regretful of her lack of professionalism in terms of her contract. If anything all it does is bring up renewed interest in the photos. You can see them here – they’re definitely NSFW.

It’s probably just the selected photos, but without makeup she looks more sophisticated, or maybe it’s just the fuschia lipstick that’s so unfortunate. Either way, she looks like a little girl playing dress-up on the red carpet.

I think she regrets the actual pictures, and maybe realizes her career could have gone better had she stayed on 7th Heaven. Instead, she got to wait until they wrote a guest epidisode to get paid, and her career since then has mainly been her butt and who she is dating.

Her face as completely changed since then. And not just in a getting older way. Can no actress leave her face alone? She probably would look better if she had left herself alone…she’s only in her 20s and looks like she’s had thousands of dollars of work done!

I think she’s saying she regrets allowing people who had their own interests to convince her to do it. Iff she’d decided to do it for her own personal reasons it probably wouldn’t have been so bad.
As for why she’s bringing it up now, someone probably asked.

Blue: I beg to disagree. I think it was a rocking and smart thinking-out-of-the-box, if a little desperate (the show’s fault, not hers in my opinion), decision she took. She may not have liked the actual experience, which is understandable as people seem to have taken advantage of her, but I think she did well. Her career has soared since she left that stupid show and even if they do show off her butt quite a lot (btw: yummy!), she can truly look back on a rather big body of work. She may not be Academy Award material or played in very high-brow films (usually), but she does have a solid career that makes her millions. I don’t see how it could have gone better.
As to the whole dating thing: she’s just one of many celebs whose dating habits seem more interesting to the world than their actual work. Nothing special about that being in the tabloids.

i remember thinking that she was so pretty when she was on 7th heaven. now, i dont find her pretty at ALL! her face looks so strange in some pictures. i dont know if its just my change in “taste” (for lack of a better word haha) or if she has reallllly had some work done?

I doubt she really regrets it. The photos gave her an “edge” and helped her ultimately get more mature roles.

Had she been 17- it could not have been published and the editor would face some major legal issues.
She is prolly lying about her age, that’s all.
There is no leniency about those things.

I have seen bathing suits display more parts than she showed.I have always found her to be very pretty, and she still is.

IMO got me thinking so i looked up the dates - the magazine was the March 2000 edition which means it likely hit the stands in February and the photo shoot would have had to occur some time before that. Jessica didn’t turn 18 until March 3, 2000, meaning that she was definitely only 17 when the photos were taken. i’m not really sure how that happened from a legal stand point either though…

Was Gear a British magazine? Then I’m fairly sure that topless, or even nude, photos of girls over 16 is legal in that jurisdiction at that time.
I know that many Page 3 girls like Samantha Fox or even Jordan started when they were under 18.
