Johnny Weir married his boyfriend of less than a year in NYC

OMG! Johnny Weir got married, y’all! Last I heard about Johnny Weir’s love life, he was dating some willowy blonde, right? But that’s over, apparently. Weir began dating hottie Victor Voronov over the summer, and over the holidays, they got married! I’m really happy for Johnny. His husband is super-cute! And he’s Russian. And Jewish! Such a catch. Victor has even changed his Twitter name to Victor Weir-Voronov.

He said “I do!”

Figure skater and reality star Johnny Weir married Victor Voronov on New Year’s Eve. “I’m married!” the 27-year-old tweeted Saturday.

Weir clarified that his “wedding [will be] in the summer, but all the official stuff is done now!”

“No more livin’ in sin,” he joked.

Weir told IceNetwork.com that Voronov is “kind of everything that I’ve ever looked for and aspired to be in a relationship with.”

“We’ve known each other for a long time and we reconnected over the summer, and it’s just been a whirlwind,” he told the site. “I’m very happy with my personal life and also my professional life, and I thank God I can be exactly where I’m at.”

[From Us Weekly]

I’m assuming Johnny and Victor were married in New York, where gay marriage is legal now (and where Johnny and Victor live). I was going through their Twitter pages, and it does seem like they were in New York on New Year’s Eve, so I’m just saying… they got hitched in NYC.

Congrats to Johnny and Victor! I’m so happy for them. They look so cute together. Hope it lasts, boys!

Wow, fast romance. Congrats to them – they look so happy! 🙂

  3. Dee says:

Its not going to last. Marriage hardly ever last that long when people rush into it. That is the whole point of marriage though, that u now have the ability to get divorced

Oh, I don’t know. My husband and I had a grand total of one date before I moved across the state and essentially called it a life together.

Married 5 years end of this month, together 8. Sometimes quick works.

Congrats to Johnny and his new husband as well.

      • Rose says:

Exactly. My husband and I moved in together after a month, married in 2002, happy as two clams together. Sometimes you just know.

    • kay says:

who pissed in your cornflakes this morning Dee?

it was clearly stated they knew each other for a long time and reconnected. Hence, the getting to know you stage was already over.

    • PTBoat says:

      Dee,

My husband and I privately committed when we were together only six months and we would have married were it legal then. We have been together twenty years since that time and are legally married (in six states and DC) two and a half years. It is love and commitment that make a marriage, not the length of the engagement.

So they didn’t rush into anything.

some people do make it work, though.

My husband and I moved in after three months and got married in less than a year. Together for 7 years, married for 6, and still incredibly happy, and our parents were extremely supportive and still are. So eat your fucking heart out.

    • Angie says:

my husband and I had known each other 6 months to the DAY when we were married. that will have been 17 years ago this February 🙂

OMG-they are SO cute together! Victor looks like Daniel Tosh. 🙂 I am a big Johnny fan (luv his faux Russian accent in his fake interview bits on his show “Be Good Johnny Weir”) and a huge figure skating fan, so I hope he comes back for Sochi, too!

  18. DreamyK says:

Congrats to Johnny and his husband. What a lovely couple. I hope that we get to see the summer wedding. I really enjoyed his personality while watching “Be Good Johnny Weir”. Super nice, honest guy.

  19. T.C. says:

I don’t believe in quickie marriages after only a short courtship but like johnny Weir said he knew the guy from before.

  20. Johnny Weir irritates the pee out of me, but damn, he’s got good taste in men! Best of luck to them!

  21. Cirque28 says:

  22. jferber says:

I love Johnny. Congrats to them. Does anyone know what his husband does for a living? Does Johnny still skate? I remember in “Be Good Johnny Weir,” Johnny expressed the wish to be a trophy wife. I’m glad he went for true love instead. By the way, Johnny wrote a book about his life. Adorable all around.

    • jekitten says:

Johnny’s skating in shows (look for him on NBC on 1/15) & deciding whether to resume competing. Victor’s a lawyer.
