Christina Aguilera told USA Weekend magazine that she suffered from her father's abuse while her family was stationed on a military base. She says that domestic abuse is common on military bases in her experience. Starpulse runs the quote from the article with commentary that she's "attacking" military bases, but she seems to be speaking about her childhood and doesn't overgeneralize:
Aguilera has never been one to shy away from the abuse she experienced as her mother and father fought and often writes about her memories in songs like "I'm OK" and new song "Oh Mother."
She adds, "It's therapeutic for me to talk about it. It gives me a reason to understand why I went through what I did."
That's too bad that Christina had to go through that as a child and it's good that she found a decent man like Jordan and didn't pick another creep like her dad. It's hard to take her seriously as a person, though, when it's rumored that she doesn't even look interviewers in the eye. Still, she should be commended for talking about her difficult childhood.

Aguilera's been flogging this story for years. In 1999 she was 5 when her abused mother left her dad. In 2002, she was 6 when they split up. Now she says she was 8? The story seems to shift to suite her promotional needs.
Xtina told GQ that Mariah Carey had her thrown out of a party and then ridiculed Carey for being "medicated" since it was about the time of her breakdown. Yet in 2002 Christina told US Weekly that she suffered panic attacks as an adult due to witnessing her mom's abuse. Cutting back on her heavy alcohol consumption would probably alleviate that.
Aguilera has inherited her father’s abusive ways. It’s reflected in every snide comment made about her competitors and every “Don’t Look At Me” stipulation made to those who interview her.
May her career die in flames.

Abuse is terrible but any time a celeb "speaks out" about it it absolutely reeks of publicity grab. I'm looking at you, Terry Hatcher.
And I'm so sick of Christina's white hair and red lips. We get it, you dig Marilyn, now time for a new look!
She might be attractive if she: a) quit pickling her skin yellow; b) deflate the head a little; and c) put on a bra already that I don't have to look at.
