Blake Lively’s family approves of Ryan Reynolds, and they’re going ring-shopping?

I’m getting a bit tired of Blake Lively’s much-discussed “game”. She’s been with the same (boring) guy for months now, and it doesn’t feel like there’s any drama. People keep trying to force drama on Blake and Ryan Reynolds, but don’t you get the sense that they tend to stay in a lot and she cooks for him and then they have a fight about their dogs and then they have sex? Like, every night? I’m also getting tired of the endless tabloid speculation on the state of their relationship – some of which is Blake’s fault (the girl has a good publicist and Blake is VERY media-savvy), some of which is not (the tabloids love to make stuff up). Generally, I’ll believe that Blake and Ryan are coupled up to the point where maybe one or both of them is making long-term commitment plans. But that isn’t very dramatic, because I think they actually like and love each other.

Anyway… here’s the latest story:

After you win the girl’s heart, you have to woo her family – and it looks like Ryan Reynolds has scored on both fronts! Ryan, who has been dating Blake Lively since last fall, flew to NYC to visit her parents, Ernie and Elaine, in early February and made quite an impression.

“Blake’s family adores Ryan,” a source tells Star. “Blake’s sister Lori even refers to him in conversation as her ‘future brother-in-law.’ She is telling everyone Ryan is family. She says that’s it – Blake’s found The One.”

Meanwhile, Ryan is showing off his domestic side. He recently cooked a romantic dinner and filled Blake’s apartment with red roses as an early Valentine’s Day present, reveals the source. While there’s no proposal yet, that could change any day.

“Ryan and Blake are talking about rings,” says the source. “Blake really wants to find a vintage ring and have it reset. She feels like the luckiest girl in the world. Her career is going great, she’s landed Mr. Right” – and her family approves!

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

If this was another couple, I’d think that a girl’s sister referring to a dude as “her future brother-in-law” is enough to send most men running for the hills. But Ryan has shown a propensity towards marriage, so why is this a big deal? Maybe I’ve just come to terms with the fact that Bleo will never happen again. It’s all Blyan/Rake from here on out. Trips to Connecticut with Boomer and Muffy. Ice cream socials. Cake-baking. Somebody mix it up!!

I should also note this – neither Blake nor Ryan are scheduled to present at the Oscars as of this moment. I feel like Ryan is trying to influence Blake to be less of a camera-seeking famewhore. Which sucks, because I really wanted to see Blake at the Oscars this year.

If it’s not a PR plant I don’t know what it is .

Yup, don’t think her career is that hot right now. The hype has died down and she hasn’t landed that A-list role.

  2. brin says:

Ugh, we don’t need another vanilla bland couple (see Biel/Timberlake post).

  3. paola says:

Such a boring couple. Boring boring boring. Yawn

    • Marjalane says:

Well now, we might need to step back a minute on BOTH of them being bores; She is for sure, and I used to think Ryan only had sappy rom/coms in his future, but he was really good in Safe House- I was shocked at how good he was, and even though the “star” was Denzel Washington, Ryan pretty much carried the movie. Maybe someday she’ll act her way out of a paper bag too…

I truly believe he’s a good actor, but he gives me the vibe of being a bore in real life, and the fact he’s dating blake Lively tells everything i need to know. i’m sure he was a funny guy when he was dating alanis morrisette or maybe in a hypotetical love story with sandra bullock. mmh i just realized that maybe it’s her fault, what blake lively touches becomes boring. i keep yawning talking about her 🙂

    “Blake is VERY media-savvy.”

Really? Even after the whole I’ll-release-my-own-nude-photos-onto-the-Internet-then-deny-it’s-me ploy, which worked like a charm in convincing the world that she’d boinked Ben Affleck, that there was no point catching The Green Lantern at the cinema in the hope of side-boob when all the goods were available at the click of a mouse, and that she was really, really, really desperate for attention by any means necessary.

As for a possible engagement – good luck to them. Boring they are, yes, but while “mellow doesn’t make for a good story, it makes for a good life.”

There’s plenty of trainwreck relationships to dissect (hello Demi/Ashton, Rihanna/Chris Brown J.Lo/whomever etc) and I like that they’re not one of them. Seems to be working out with Ryan/Blake. Boring for gossip but good for them.

    • Michelle says:

I like that someone has the same thoughts as me on this issue. I heard somewhere that we all expect to see trainwreck relationships because that’s what so televised but in reality, the best relationships are pretty “boring”. We shouldn’t be labeling them as a “boring couple” just because we don’t get a kick out of their antics. It’s a selfish thought to wish someone was more unstable just for our gossip vice.

What?? Why go with a vintage ring if you’re going to reset it?? Sorry, that’s the only thing that stuck out to me in this story.

Her choice of lipstick always bugs me. that fuschia is just awful.

When I see her, I think of a senior citizen with orange skin and too-white dentures.

  10. layla says:

    Seriously.
    She’s 24.
    He’s recently divorced.
They’ve dated for what, 6 months.
There shouldn’t even be talk of marriage at this stage.

I still think he looks like a f***ing gerbil.

Check out these comments about Blake Lively:

Blake does give off a “star of the show” vibe that could inspire pedestal-knocking. Sitting in a swivel chair in the makeup room at Silvercup Studios, as her hairstylist carefully curls, then straightens, her superabundant blonde extensions, Blake is extremely cheerful, but a little edgy. We are informed that photographs are not allowed until she’s in full makeup, despite the fact that she looks great pretty much all the time. “We’ll let you know when we’re ready,” she trills. (“Blake,” we had heard a production assistant saying earlier, “is not laid-back.”)

“I thought this was New York Magazine,” she says to us cheerfully, as we withered under the glare of her ultrabright smile. (Caps? Definitely.) “I thought you were supposed to be classy.”

Guess the question about the nose job is off the table.

She sounds nice but serious. I don’t want to give the impression that she is a diva by posting this but I haven’t read an interview like it before. The interviewer could just be describing things and Blake is protective of herself and image. But still. It’s insightful.
