Jessica Simpson is gross: “Apparently, I have a lot of amniotic fluid, so…”

When I first read Jessica Simpson’s quote about her amniotic fluid, I swear I actually dry-heaved. Dear God… is she trying to be the grossest woman alive? Is that her thing? Because she might achieve it. Like, I don’t mind that she talks about burping and farting. Whatever, it’s kind of gross and silly, but I get that Jessica is all about burping and farting. Then she upped the ante with the confession that she rarely brushes her teeth – gross. Since we’re now faced with Preggo Jess, the TMI has just gotten overkill. While I found her “Swamp Ass” sweating story kind of charming, she quickly killed the charm by suffocating it with her enormous breasts. She started talking about her pregnant sex life and what it’s going to be like for her in the delivery room… I just can’t. If you have a weak stomach or a strong psychological gag reflex, don’t read this story:

Though her extra large baby bump may indicate otherwise, Jessica Simpson still has about four weeks to go before she gives birth.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! Monday, the pregnant 31-year-old said she’s growing tired of her pregnancy curves. “I feel I have a bowling ball sitting on my hoohah!”

Simpson laughed. “Apparently I have a lot of amniotic fluid, so whenever my water breaks it will be like a fire hydrant!”

Simpson isn’t nervous about going into labor, though. “I’m ready to push!” she told host Jimmy Kimmel, 44.

Though Simpson and fiance Eric Johnson, 32, have temporarily put wedding plans on hold, the former NFL player “feels like my husband already,” the singer said. “We are just doing it a little bit backwards.”

The Fashion Star mentor appeared on the talk show just one day after her star-studded baby shower. “It was a Charlotte’s Web thing. We had a whole fair,” the Texas native said. “We had fried Oreos!”

Guests included mom Tina, sister Ashlee, and actresses Jessica Alba and Odette Annable. “Jessica received tons of gifts mostly wrapped in pink gift wrap and boxes,” a source tells Us Weekly. “There were several books, stuffed toys and clothes among other items.”

[From Us Weekly]

And she’s not even due for another four weeks or so. GAH! It was the amniotic thing that gave my stomach a turn this morning, but Bedhead was more disturbed by the reference to fried Oreos. Which, granted, sound disgusting too. I don’t want to get all Gisele on Jessica (heaven forbid), but I think Jessica is going to be in for a very rude awakening when she finally figures out how little the baby weighs and how much of her “baby weight” is actually fried Oreos and slutty brownies and Doritos and ham.

FRIED OREOS? Say it aint so! Now THAT is disgusting!

    • OlsenTriplet says:

      Au contraire. They are delicious.

Since an Oreo is basically sweetened Crisco between two slabs of chocolately Crisco pressed into a cracker shape, when you fry them, the Oreo basically melts and the batter holds a molten trans-fat treat.

      Phenomenal.

      • Jen D says:

It’s possible they’re delicious, but they’re forever tainted for me because after today I will always associate them with amniotic fluid.

    • Mr. Stinky FishFace says:

nooo fried oreos are delish. Not something you’d want to eat frequently but as a special treat….mmmmmmm

you dip the oreo in funnel cake batter and deep fry it. TASTY!

      • Honey B says:

Only in America. We love you, but ya’ll deep fry everything. Don’t you deep fry snicker bars too? Have you tried Kim K? Someone needs to deep fry plastic.

      • WillyNilly says:

Honey B, we have. It’s called Melanie Griffith.

        Badum-tssss.

      • Erinn says:

        @ Honey Bee
Deep fried mars bars originated in Scotland, so it’s not just an American thing.
And I find it so funny when people write “y’all”. I don’t want that to come off as mean, but I find it so weird to see in text.

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Has anyone had Oreo balls? smashed oreo bits, mixed w cream cheese, rolled into balls and dipped in white chocolate. Heavenly!!!!

      • Ellie says:

Um, YES and they’re the best thing ever! They are the same idea as cake balls–or cake pops, if you get them from Starbucks they come on a lollipop stick–which also are absolutely incredible. Can’t stop thinking about them now. Yum!

(I swear I’m not stoned, lol)

      • mazzy says:

Yum, I’ll take those Oreo Balls over deep fried Oreos any day. Gonna go look up a recipe (I have my own version of ‘schweddy’ rum balls that are to.die.for.

But I swear between the amnio fluid fire hydrant, recalling d-listed’s description of Jess pregnant sex, & these deep fried oreos, I’m getting nauseous, & it’s lunch time so this story is a great diet aid.

      • Beatriz says:

That’s why I’m glad I don’t live in the US, with those foods I would be obese!

    • the original bellaluna says:

Oh dear God! And I thought fried Twinkies were bad!

But I do confess to loving the battered fried cheese-on-a-stick. (Though I only eat it once a year, if that.)

    • ChrissyQ says:

Didja know that they actually make fried KoolAid now too? Talk about disgusting. I couldn’t even bring myself to try them just to say I did.

Fried Oreos are pretty darn good though. I can only eat one or two, but the ten pounds you gain just on that are relatively worth it.

  2. CookieJar says:

She should join jersey shore and talk about her bodily fluids (of whatever source) there.

    • Jessica says:

Snooki needs to start catching up on bodily fluid over share. It will be yesterday’s news by the time she’s ready to pop.

    • Lucy says:

She is starting to make Snooki look classy by comparison….what a pig.

  3. Theuth says:

Just listening to this, I start craving fresh vegetables. Seriously, I will SO laugh ugly when she will give birth to a very small baby.

    • QQ says:

      THIS!!!! ^^^

      Gestational Diabetes like a mothafucka!!!

But also, She seems right for CDAN’s BI about mom to be treating her body like a trashcan since she is getting work done anyways, no?

      • Belle says:

While I agree she seems to be eating way too much crap, eating too much sugar/junk is not what causes diabetes. Obesity is one of the risk factors for developing Diabetes type 2, and one can certainly become obese from eating too much junk… but the junk food itself is not a CAUSE.

Obesity is also a risk factor for developing gestational diabetes (along with several others). Of note is the fact that a large percentage of the women who develop gestational diabetes do not have any of ‘risk factors’.

      • SHump76 says:

Gestational diabetes gives you a huge baby, not a small one.

    • Jaxx says:

You won’t get that laugh. The doctors already told her the baby weighs ten pounds NOW. The kid will weigh as much as a three month old when born. For some reason this just grosses me out. It’s one thing to have a big baby, another to just force feed it until it is born as obese as her.

      • Theuth says:

Well, in that case I think I will probably laugh AND say: “Told you so.”

      • fabgrrl says:

That is just an estimate. My midwife was sure my baby would be BIG – like 9+ pounds. Nope, he was 7.5 pounds. He was just long and had a large head.

      • Belle says:

Everything I read seemed to suggest that her doctor thought she was ON TRACK to have a 10 pound baby, and yes… that is just an educated guess, and they aren’t always accurate.

    • sarah says:

When I was pregnant with my son, who I ate fairly reasonable with, only because he was a picky little thing and I wasn’t able to eat a lot, I am 5’1 and I put on 45 pounds. When I was three months along they were certain I was carrying twins, it was just a lot of amniotic fluid. A LOT. He was almost a month early and only weighed 6 pounds. I walked out three days later wearing the same sweats I walked in with. Her face isnt fat, her arms are no bigger than they have been. By the way, gestational diabetes is a complication of the pregnancy (hence the gestational term), not your diet. That is why when you have your baby, your gestational diabetes goes away.

      • ZenB!tch says:

I wouldn’t call her obese but her face is definitely fat. Her upper arms are also bigger than they were.

The boobs look painfully swollen but she started with Ds or DDs. Salma Hayek looked just as bad.

    • Carolyn says:

Jess is the poster child of what not to eat whilst pregnant. Stories are already circulating through mainstream media (not just gossip sites) here in Australia that she isn’t going to lose the weight via Jenny Craig – she’s going to simply get surgery. I will laugh myself silly and shout “woo hoo” if this “I did it with Jenny you can too” is exposed as a farce. For once, I think it may happen. Jess is the same height as me. She hasn’t got a hope in Hades of losing that massive weight naturally.

    • LadyJane says:

Gestational Diabetes – you can also have a pretty huge baby and not have gestational diabetes (I had a 10 pound baby and no diabetes). Can we just give her a break? At least she didn’t hide herself away. At least she didn’t hire a surrogate and pretend to be pregnant. She got got huge in every way, braved the braying masses, kept her sense of humour and ok – got a bit gross. Give me explicit and real any day over women who are afraid of their bodies and afraid to be anything but PERFECT when in the public eye.

  4. CG says:

Fried Oreos are actually delicious. I had some last year at the Texas State Fair, which will fry anything (fried butter I can’t recommend, but fried Twinkies and fried Snickers are good!). I wouldn’t want to eat fried Oreos everyday, but that one time they were pretty tasty. 🙂

    • I’ve had fried butter. It was actually not that bad, like a buttery zeppole. When I was in school, I had just gotten to the U.S. and my new found friends tried to convince me that fried butter was an American tradition. They did that with a lot of food that I now know, 14 years later, are not traditional in any way.

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

        @Paranormal, LOL. That’s terrible!

      • I know. They are awful people because they laugh at it to this day. Pick on the poor Irish orphan girl. Hmph.

      • OriginalTiffany says:

Kind of like how the Dutch try to get you to eat raw sardine with onion, oh yes an everyday delicacy. Blarf.

It’s a worldwide laugh, getting peeps to eat what is considered gross.

  5. hillbilly in the corner says:

Sorry Jess but I’m sixty-five and I’m still trying to get rid of that first baby…weight gain………and you sweeting are a carbon copy of me and 8+ mos preggies…3 more babies to the mix and you will look just like me again….which is really kind of funny……better hope you go early cause you are in for a BIG surpirse in the labor room…..LOL

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Feel like that was a bit of an attack. Why wish for her to stay large/get larger? Be nice.

      • Dawn says:

I read that and didn’t find it to be an attack at all. And it was not at all mean. It is simply her truth of what happened to her and what could happen to Jess if she isn’t more careful. I gained 48 pounds with my son but I was twenty-three when I had him and lost it quickly. Once you get into your thirties it doesn’t come off as quickly or easily. It’s called life experience! There is simply no reason to be so sensitive.

      • Leticia says:

I didn’t think it was an attack either. and this is a celebrity gossip site.

      • hillbilly in the corner says:

that was in no way a attack against Jessica …just a obverbation…and the fact that change her eyes to aqua blue and she would be me…LOL….And were it all this did you think I was still fat…I am plump my dear never fat ..and believe me a little plumpness on a older woman looks a hell of a lot better then a skinny bone…keeps the wrinkles at bay…….have a nice day and don’t be so senitive ……..

    • Me says:

If you are fat after a baby its because you eat too much and move too little. Nothing magical happens just because you were pregnant. Ive had 2.

      • OriginalTiffany says:

Not always. I’m tall, gained 70 with each, worked 10+ hours a day, rode horses and never ate sweets.

I’m also thinner now than any time in my adult life. Took a year to take off the weight, but it was not from moving too little and eating too much.

    • Jen D says:

Before everyone starts feeling smug and superior, remember that there’s a big difference between us and Jessica Simpson: she’s a billionaire with way more resources than we have. She can afford personal trainers, chefs, and surgeries to get that weight down. I’m not saying she’ll lose the weight, but she just might, so hold off on the judgements. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if she loses it, writes a book about it, and comes out with a diet plan, thereby becoming more rich than she is now.

As for the diabetes concern-trolls: watch your own diets first. I’m sure some of you are genuine, but some of you come across as wishing it on her. Please allow me to concern troll you in return: you’re setting yourselves up for some pretty rotten karma.

      • thinkaboutit says:

She was rich before…and still fat. Oprah is richer and she’s even fatter. Your point? Fails.

      • Jen D says:

You missed my point. Some people’s superiority and barely contained glee over JS’s weight gain is a house of cards. She has more money than you. She can afford to pay her way to be thin. She doesn’t have to deal with caring for a kid nanny-free, being able to afford gyms and healthy food, and not being able to afford surgery. Sure, she may still be fat afterwards. And yes, there are still fat people in Hollywood. But most women in Hollywood are thin. And with enough incentive (say, a WeightWatchers contract, or a lucrative “How I lost my baby weight!!!” article in People), she can be get thin much more easily than the average post-partum woman.

      • normades says:

JenD: If her attitude towards food really pisses me off it’s because I had very severe GD. She is lucky that she can eat like she does and get away with it (as far as we know), but it sends a bad example to other moms who think you can eat like her and be OK.

My story: When I found out I was pregnant I eat tons of stuff I never did before: high carb, high sugar foods. My GD was so off the charts they said I was probably borderline type 2 and didn’t know it. See my link above concerning diet and GD. The lack of fibre in my diet didn’t help.

I had to take insulin and the whole nine yards, but I also watched my diet like a hawk and it was the best thing I ever did…for myself and my baby.

Everyone is different, some people can eat crap and not get GD. However if you have pre existing conditions it’s worth the while to be careful…I wish I had. If I have a second child I will eat right from the get go.

      • the original bellaluna says:

She’s already got the WW contract, to the tune of $3M.

normades, I’ve read you had a hard time, and I feel for you. They were afraid I had GD with my first (and healthiest) pregnancy, and it sucked. So I can’t imagine how difficult you had it.

Hillybilly, I love ya! Yes, it’s hard when we gain weight whilst pregnant. Everyone tells us about stretch marks and labour pains, but they don’t tell us about E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G.

      • normades says:

@the original bellaluna: Thanks girl<3. But in hind sight it turned out to be a really good thing.

Because I was so concerned about the health of the baby, I was really strict. I learned A LOT about nutrition. I reversed my type 2 diabetes and the weight flew off me afterwards. I am healthier and thinner now because of it.

Jess is lucky if she doesn't have GD, but I really wish she wouldn't treat her body and her baby like that.

      • Jen D says:

        @Normades

Having GD would suck, and it’s not something I would wish on anybody. Hence my comment about people sounding a bit too eager to diagnose JS with it.
I think she’s a silly tit, but concern trolls are gross.

    • ??? says:

You just seem like a hater. I bet even at your skinniest you were still bigger than Jess is now.

  6. SS says:

    Ew she is nasty.

  7. Franny says:

she’s so cute, I love her without a ton of make up on – isn’t that how we all wish we could be? cute without makeup. damn you white eyelashes!

that being said, I’m not loving her styling recently. I know she’s giant, but fringe jackets? hunny, no.

    • BabyCakes says:

I know, right? She is so adorable. I think it’s nice to see a jolly pregnant woman. I’m just not a fan of fringe anything. Too sloppy looking for me.

  8. G says:

She’s just pumping up the volume for her post pregnancy weight loss product endorsements.

  9. Annoyed says:

Why is it gross for her to talk about a perfectly normal part of pregnancy? It’s something that all pregnant women have and deal with – that shouldn’t be gross. Or are we back in middle school (or as adults 50 years ago), pretending that periods don’t exist because everything that comes out of a woman is “gross”?

    • MST says:

I don’t think it’s “gross” per se, but why would she want to share this? After the birth she’s going to be talking about placenta, etc. Inappropriate.

    • Zelda says:

I get that it’s normal, but so is taking a crap, and picking your nose, and wet dreams and I sure as Hell don’t want to talk about those things, either. Especially not in a public forum. Nature is pretty fucking gross, sometimes.

Not everything about pregnancy is precious.

And I get super annoyed by that certain mommy-subculture that gets offended if you mention anything negative about the gestational and birthing processes. I get it–having a kid is awesome. But not everything about getting there is.

And just because I have not had a child doesn’t mean I don’t know anything about polite conversation.

      • Brigitte says:

Well put Zelda! I’ve had 3 children (natural, not C section) and I feel no desire to discuss potentially stomach-churning details in casual conversation. ;o)

      • Oi says:

I agree. I also object to the women that think its perfectly ok to try to go completely topless while breastfeeding in public (*). I mean really? This is not the Victorian era where we can’t talk about it at all, but geez, give us a break. Most women whether they have a kid or not know what the process is. We don’t need to hear about it all the time.

(* Note: I do not have a problem with women breastfeeding in public in general. my mother did it to me and all of my siblings in the 80’s and no one cared then. I object to the militant ones.)

      • Leticia says:

        agree.

      • Jen D says:

That’s because you’re obviously a baby-hating hater! Just kidding – it was pretty gross. I’m as pregnant as she is, and there are some things I just don’t discuss. Can I just point out, however, that it’s not just the pregnant people? The questions I’ve been asked about my own bodily functions while pregnant have just been unreal. Really, it’s never okay to discuss fluids outside of a medical setting. Jimmy Kimmel is not your OBGYN.

      • Zelda says:

Actually, Jimmy Kimmel IS my gynocologist. Which is actually gross enough that it need not be discussed.

        But your point still stands.

      • Jen D says:

        That was perfect.

    • Tapioca says:

It’s also perfectly normal for a mother to take a dump just as the baby is born, and for the delivery of the placenta to look like her vagina is blowing a meat bubble, but I do not wish for Jessica Simpson to take photos and post them on Twitter!

    • StaceyP says:

Such squirmishness, can I just add
      mucus plug anyone?

      • DreamyK says:

Right?! Why is anyone surprised that Jessica is being so honest about her pregnancy? She was a reality star, her life was out there for everyone. Her pregnancy is no different. I think she’s adorable. I also carried my babies way out there and the last month is the worst. Mine were normal weight, none of this 10lb baby business. Yikes.

    • danielle says:

I agree with you even if we are in the minority, lol.

    • SHump76 says:

      THANK YOU, Annoyed!!

There is nothing disgusting about her saying she has a lot of amniotic fluid, ffs. It’s FAR from the grossest thing a pregnant woman has to put up with or go through. Why also the Jess hate? I just don’t get it.

P.S. the amount of ignorance woman show about their own bodies, and the disgust they show in talking about them disturbs me to no end. Not just in this story, but across the board. It’s scary.

  10. sam says:

Ummm it isn’t her fault if she has lots of amniotic fluid. Isn’t anything she did “wrong”. I have a friend who ate very healthy through her whole pregnancy, was huge in the belly from about 6 months and actually lost weight in the rest of her body. She had a medium sized baby but was huge due to her fluid. I agree the fire hydrant thing was a bit much but she isn’t gross for having all the fluid. She is growing a person, it happens!!

    • Lindsay says:

^^ Spot on, Sam. I had 3 liters of amniotic fluid and had been on diet restrictions from week 24 due to gestational diabetes. No fried Oreos or slut brownies for me and I was HUGE. Had a healthy 8lb boy though. After delivery I completely deflated. Pregnancy affects every woman differently.

    • Str8Shooter says:

May not be her FAULT, Sam….but does she have to go on freakin’ national television talking about it??? Disgusting.

  11. Hautie says:

Practically anytime you hear of something “fried” like this… it means the object was dipped in funnel cake batter and fried.

Then dusted in powder sugar. Maybe even drizzled in chocolate sauce then dusted with powder sugar.

So yea I can see Jessica eating a few of these. 🙂

As big as she is… all I can see is the weight in her body.

She is not carrying it in her legs.

    Or her ass.

A seriously not that much of it is even in her face.

She is stomach and boobs. So even when she has the baby. She will still have huge boobs for months. And will need one heck of a stomach tuck.

But I bet all she has to figure out how to loose is 30 pounds. If even that. I suspect she does have a lot of water weight. And she needed to loose 20 before she got pregnant.

    • Jaxx says:

If you don’t see the excess weight she has gained in her face, arms, legs, and ass, then your are not seeing the same pics I am. To me it looks like she is the size of two people now and has blown up everywhere.

I know women have cravings when pregnant but I’ve never seen someone brag with glee about eating utter crap the whole time they are pregnant. I’m all for to each his own but somehow she just disgusts me.

And she is not going to have near as much fun as she thinks trying to get the weight off.

    • Vesper says:

She has a triple chin and her ass is almost as big as her bump. She is HUGE everywhere.

  12. Ainsley says:

Ha ha, I’m starting to like Jessica! At least she’s being realistic about her body. That’s better than Gisele pretending like labor is painless. I’m sure other women who have been through pregnancy and labor can relate to the way she’s feeling.

    • Samigirl says:

Have you seen these women who have ORGASMS while they are in labor/giving birth? I’ve seen the video (orgasmic birth or something like that) and they LOOK real, but damn, I’ve birthed a child and there was NOTHING pleasurable about it during the time.

      • Ainsley says:

I’ve heard about that, but I cannot believe it is possible. It seems like such an unrealistic, unhealthy idea of delivery. A lot of young women are so naive about what childbirth will be like. It’s better to go into something like labor having realistic expectations of what it will be like. It seems like first-time mom’s are often sad and even disappointed in themselves when labor isn’t perfect or doesn’t go according to plan. That’s so wrong.

      • Embee says:

Right? I am pretty sure those orgasmic births are either (a) bullshit or (b) a result of the nerves getting triggered due to all the birth chaos. Because if memory serves (and I try to forget) it felt like someone was trying to drive a Mac truck through my ass. Yes, my ass.

      • BabyCakes says:

@Sami.. my obgyn told me that an orgasm would help with contractions and soothe the baby.

    • deb says:

although not completely painless, i have an easy delivery, even for my first child. it was crazy. it was in the middle of the night. the duty nurse was so laidback saying that since it’s my first pregnancy and delivery, it’ll take a while, no sense for the whole circus (my mom, aunt, etc etc) to stay and crowd the hospital. go home come back in the morning.

my husband stayed with me. the nurse went away probably to call my obgyn. she came back saying that my obgyn’d come in the morning.

like an hour pr more (but never two hours i think) later, i was ready to pop my first daughter out. the obgyn’s not there, i was wheeled to the only obgyn room already prepped, because there’s another lady already pushing in there. her obgyn doc and nurse telling her to PUSH.

so here was my nurse, telling me to NOT PUSH, WAIT until *my* obgyn, who had been paged emergency, to arrive within five minutes.

so basically my nurse was trying to outyell the other nurse, and i was bursting to go, confused between the PUSH from the other side, and DONT PUSH YET from this side and my husband losing his mind running around saying omigodomigod, and the obgyn that arrived within that five minutes but gawd it feels like a long time.

my second and third deliveries were quick too. and i found out from my mother that the women in our family has been blessed with quick and easy deliveries. my sister-in-law has a devastating delivery, i was worried and scared and couldn’t understand it.

so i learned that different circumstances can happen, and variations in normal births that not a lot of obgyn bother to tell us about.

p.s. but yeah, between all the women in the family, we’ve never had (or no one ever owned up to having) an orgasmic birth. all i remember is chaos.

p.p.s. this is from an asian in asia perspective btw

  13. backwards says:

I’m more grossed out about the Oreo’s too.

The pregnant sex comments may be a bit ick but I don’t think there is anything gross about what she said above. It’s not like we’re 13 and in sex ed class.

  14. lisa says:

I don’t know.. when she was with Nick and I thought of her being pregnant I thought she was going to be so cute while pregnant

but she just doesn’t know how to tone it down. I guess she is just being real but it’s too much right now.

    • brin says:

If this is how she talks in public, I can’t even imagine her private conversations…lol.

  15. Samigirl says:

I *love* that she’s realistic, but I promise, I won’t be talking about my fluids, placenta, etc. That’s just a little too much, especially for women who haven’t had/don’t want children!

    • Jessica says:

Jessica is SO repulsive, the fact that she at 31 thinks it’s still cute and funny to talk about how much she loves to burp and fart, not brush her teeth, not wash her hair, how many orgasms she’s having etc. is just down right NASTY.

Grow the F up already Jessica, Your not in Jr. High or High School anymore.

  16. kazoo says:

” I think Jessica is going to be in for a very rude awakening when she finally figures out how little the baby weighs and how much of her “baby weight” is actually fried Oreos and slutty brownies and Doritos and ham.”

    LMFAO.

I am really shocked that she doesn’t have gestational diabetes.

    • Samigirl says:

If ONLY it worked like that. I haven’t eaten a pop tart, slutty brownies, or any other crap foods this pregnancy. Mostly shrimp and spinach, actually, and I’ve only gained 11 pounds now…and my behind STILL has the diabetes. Kind of unfair, seeing as I totally splurged my first go around and gained 50 pounds. Succcks.

      • DeltaJuliet says:

Yeah, it doesn’t work like that. I was a healthy weight when I got pregnant with both my kids, LOST a bunch of weight from throwing up, and I was still borderline GD for both pregnancies. I went into labor 20 pounds lighter with #1, and 7 pounds heavier with #2. Go figure.

      • normades says:

Don’t sweat it Sammygirl. You’re doing what’s best for your body and the baby. The bonus will be that you will have less weight to lose. Courage!

    • Belle says:

Just posted about this above, but will post again because there seem to be a lot of people who think that eating too much sugar CAUSES diabetes. It does not. Obesity is a risk factor for developing Diabetes type 2 (as well as gestational diabetes). Of course, eating too much sugar can lead to obesity (as can eating too many fatty foods), but eating junk does not CAUSE diabetes.

Noted again… a large percentage of women who develop gestational diabetes have none of the known risk factors.

      • kazoo says:

Oh, I thought they got it because they were fat. LOL

      • normades says:

Yes, belle, there are pre existing conditions that you can’t control in GD. But what you eat DOES MATTER for those that have those pre existing conditions. I am so sick that people twist this to say it doesn’t matter what you eat when it comes to GD:

The cause of diabetes during pregnancy is directly controlled by serotonin, a chemical produced by the body and normally known as a neurotransmitter, and is influenced by the amount of protein in the mother’s diet early in pregnancy, according to new findings of an international team led by researchers at UCSF.

        http://www.ucsfhealth.org/education/diabetes_in_pregnancy/index.html.

      • Belle says:

You are changing the topic. This wasn’t about those who have ‘pre-existing conditions’ (what would typically be referred to as risk factors). What this is about, is so many people who seem to think that eating too much sugar in pregnancy will result in gestational diabetes…. NOT TRUE.

I am not suggesting that it is okay to eat too much sugar, simply that it is not the CAUSE of diabetes. If someone already has other risk factors for gestational diabetes (such as a family history of the condition), then as with any condition or disease, doctors are going to be as cautious as they can, and this would include being more insistent about maintaining a healthy weight (as obesity is another risk factor), and while not fool-proof, eating healthy foods and regular exercise is the best way to maintain a healthy weight.

I think everyone can agree, a healthy diet in pregnancy is best for everyone. Mis-information isn’t helpful though, and scaring women into thinking that if they had a few too many sugary treats in pregnancy, they are going to ‘give themselves’ gestational diabetes is equally unhelpful. While risk factors are important, I will once again point out that many of the women who develop gestational diabetes do not have any of the known risk factors.

      • normades says:

“I will once again point out that many of the women who develop gestational diabetes do not have any of the known risk factors.”

Exactly. I didn’t know I had any pre consisting risk factors. I was not overweight (size 6) and do not have a history of diabetes in my family. I didn’t think I was harming my body with those morning croissants.

But please refer to my link that states that new research shows that a diet low in fibre can cause GD.

I’m not trying to scare anyone. I’m just trying to urge pregnant ladies to eat healthier, something Jess is not doing.

      • Belle says:

I’m sorry… I did review the information in the link, but didn’t see any mention of a diet low in fiber causing GD, maybe there is another link I missed. I am not disputing it, though I haven’t come across information about a low fiber diet causing GD. Even so, a low fiber diet still doesn’t equate to a junk food/high sugar diet, so I’m unsure of the link?

If you had no risk factors for GD, yet still developed it (as is the case with many), then that doesn’t necessarily mean you had risk factors you didn’t know about… it usually means you simply didn’t have any of the known risk factors.

Were you actually told that your ‘morning croissants’ caused your GB? If so, I am shocked… and sorry that you were made to feel guilty about such a thing. What would have been the cause, carbs? I understand your concern and desire to convince women to eat healthy during pregnancy, as it is good for mom and baby for many reasons. Junk food isn’t good for anyone… but it doesn’t cause diabetes.

      • Belle says:

        oops… correction, GD(; (not GB)

      • normades says:

Yes! The carbs are the worst for GD.

        Check out this link:

        http://www.ucsf.edu/news/2010/06/4421/gestational-diabetes-linked-serotonin-and-dietary-protein

Also, all the reserch done by Dr. Richard K. Bernstein a pioneer who advocates a low carb diet for diabetes sufferers.

Your diet CAN influence your diabetes. Stop saying otherwise. And yes, most women won’t know they have prexisting factors. So doesn’t it make sense to throw a little caution to the wind???

  17. almond says:

    I’m confused about something.
Now, I don’t have any children and I don’t actually plan to for the time being, but I’ve heard and read that it’s good for the unborn baby if the mother eats as much as she can.

My mother in law said she used to get up in the middle of the night to eat so that the future baby would have every chance of being healthy. By the end she weight nearly 90 kg and she’s a very small woman. But some of you have said that eating for two is not healthy and that the increase in diet should not be all that big. So, which is actually more healthy?

    • Ainsley says:

Not a mom yet, but I think the problem with Jessica is that she has admitted to craving and eating a lot of unhealthy food. You need more calories when pregnant, but you need food with nutritional value for the baby. Jessica looks like she’s been eating chips, cookies, cake, and other junk. At least we know she’s not drinking right now!

    • Embee says:

Actually the mother’s caloric needs don’t increase all that much while pregnant. It’s the equivalent of eating an apple, slice of wheat bread and a glass of milk. Eating for two means being selective about the nutrients you consume while growing a person, not doubling your volume.

    • Theuth says:

I’m in your same situation, so what I know is heard from family and friends…eating for two is not healthy; eating everything you want (fried, sugar, ecc..)…is not healthy.
Your body should naturally ask what it needs for itself and the baby: you eat more, but you have to eat in a conscious way, knowing that it’s not only for yourself and that all the packed stuff is full of ingredients you don’t need and are unhealthy.
Most people (women) here blame Jessica for bragging (and probably doing) about treating herself like a dump, eating s**t with the excuse of a baby.

    • fabgrrl says:

IF you are eating vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean proteins and healthy fats, then yes. Give that developing baby every opportunity to absorb vitamins, omega-3 fatty acids and complex carbs. But that isn’t the same as stuffing oneself with deep-fried sugar and salt sandwiches.

When I was pregnant I had an intense cravings for fresh asparagus and spinach. And roast beef sandwiches (and I NEVER eat red meat usually). Clearly, baby wanted iron. So that is what I ate, ALL THE TIME.

    • Miffits says:

Actually the whole ‘eating for two’ myth is one of the more destructive ones out there. Pregnant women are susceptible to gestational diabetes which can cause miscarriage and premature birth not to mention lead to many more pregnancy related complications.
In your first trimester your calorie intake should increase to accomodate one extra slice of bread. I think at most (in your third trimester) it should increase to a 100 calories. No stage of pregnancy is an excuse to eat all before and after them.
Now, as someone whose appetite went insane for the last two months of pregnancy if you are going to eat yourself out of house and home try to make it fresh fruit and veg. Not fried cookies.

    • Ambergesa says:

That’s a misconception, you are eating for two but for most if your pregnancy one of you is smaller than a pop can. You do not need the calorie equlivent of another adult. You should gain between 25 to 35 pounds, closer to 25 if you’re average weight, 35 if you’re underweight. It’s very unhealthful for the baby if the mom has a massive weight gain. The stats coming out now show excessive maternal weight gain increases the babies cances for diabetes and obesity. As another poster noted eating for two means making wise nutritional choices for both of you NOT indulging in truckloads of junk food. All the posters saying she’s all belly, did you see the pics of her in leggings around St Pattys Day? Her legs are tree trunks and her butt was huge. She will be devastated when she looks in the mirror naked after she has that baby.

      • normades says:

I agree with all you ladies. I am appalled at this woman’s complete ignorance and irresponsibility. She is setting a horrible example for other women.

      • almond says:

Thank you all for your awesome answers! I was curious about the matter and also a bit worried because I have the feeling that if and when I become pregnant my mother in law will try to put me on the same diet she followed. And she’s pushy. So… it will be an ongoing battle, I think.

      • Belle says:

Almond, when the time comes, I would follow the advice of your doctor… and there is also a lot of good (and accurate) information online, as long as you are reading from a legitimate medical site. Pregnancy is not one size fits all. This site may not be the best place to receive unbiased and accurate medical advice.
A quick search, and you will find the correct general ‘weight gain’ guidelines.
If a woman is of normal/average weight, 25-35 pounds is recommended.
        Underweight: 28-40 pounds
        Overweight: 15-25 pounds
        Obese: 11-20 pounds

Again, these are only guidelines, and may vary from person to person, depending on diet, exercise, medical conditions, body type, genetics, etc.

    • janie says:

i think it all depends on how good your eating habits are to begin with. if you eat crap before you are pregnant, and then eat double crap, not good for the baby.
however, americans get really hung up on fat. the baby needs fat to grow, but the right fat. not burger king fat but olive oil and avocado fat. so if you are hungry, by all means eat.
as a side note i gained 60 lbs with my first and ate super healthy. but i was tiny to begin with.

      • normades says:

@janie: THIS ^^^^ is so true. Good fats from high quality meat, avocado, oils etc is good for you. It’s THE CARBS that make one gain weight.

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

My ob/gyn suggested I increase my caloric intake by 300 calories while pregnant. I followed her advice and gained 32 the first time around and 38 the second time. These were considered “healthy weight increases” since I was “underweight.”

Breastfeeding an infant under six months of age burns between 300-500 calories a day, so if you cut back to eating like you did prepregnancy you could lose up to a pound a week (sitting on your ass). Factor in some exercise, and you could
be back to your prepregnancy size in no time!

      • Ambergesa says:

This over 25 can be healthful. I gained just under 25 the first time. I started a size 2. I gained closer to 40 the second but I started out a 00. My doc said they wre both healthy gains. I’d list the pounds but I haven’t known my weight in over a decade, I’m in the sec tri on my 3rd and my doc won’t give me numbers but says I’m very healthy and well within my range. Starting at a 0. I don’t worry about how much, but I keep a 95% really healthful ratio. I do indulge a little. But I feel lucky I have the time to plan meal wise and the ability to access, purchase and create tastey and highly nutritional meals. That’s a blessing I have as a full time middle class mom. With a supportive active family. A lot of women do not ave those same advantages. Some women that make less or work are able to do it far better than me, but I feel blessed to be so supported. It can be tough.

  18. laurie says:

I’m sorry but this is so wrong. She can do what she wants to her body but what she is doing to that child she is carrying by eating all these fats, sugars, and carbs, is just criminal. What she puts in her body becomes the basic building blocks for her child. This really makes me sick. She is, pure and simple, a MORON.

    • Dana says:

Her personal chef has a blog that I didn’t realize she was Jessica’s chef at the time but she recently did a post mentioning it. And while she introduced the slutty brownies to Jessica, in that post she had a lot of vegetables/salads etc that it became obvious she was cooking for Jessica.

So she’s apparently getting her fruits vegetables etc. People just like to pick on her and believe her cravings is all she is eating, which even before I saw her chef’s post, I thought was a crazy assumption.

      • normades says:

With all the weight she’s packed on and bragging about eating the worst foods possible, I HIGHLY doubt that.

      • Belle says:

I don’t think she should be bragging about all of the crap she is eating, but no one knows that she isn’t also eating healthy foods. Much of the time, when blabbing about the junk she eats, she is ASKED about cravings (every interview I’ve ever seen involving a pregnant woman includes being asked about cravings).

  19. P.J. says:

Watching the video clip, it’s obvious that the whole bit was scripted: Jessica toddled onstage and immediately started discussing her ho-ha.

You’ve got to hand it to her, she’s really good at getting publicity!

  20. dorothy says:

I like her. She’s honest, open and funny. And, unlike Beyonce she’s not faking a pregnancy. What a nice change!

  21. Ycnan says:

Yes I wish we didn’t act like perfectly normal things that happen to women when pregnant are “gross”. And of all the things that are lets say, messy, about pregnancy, amniotic fluid is really on the tame side.

    • MeMyself says:

As the mother of four, ages 4-22, I couldn’t agree more.

    • Trek Girl says:

Yeah, I’m not grossed out about anything she has said, including the amniotic fluid. If anything, her talking about having a lot of amniotic fluid is a good thing because I’m sure there are a lot of people that don’t that a pregnant woman can have a lot amniotic fluid.

I like her. She is very open – very, very open – but I like her. I think she looks cute pregnant and I am happy that she is happy.

  22. Ivy says:

I love this site crazy much, but this is undoubtedly one of the most immature “articles” I’ve ever seen on it. I hate to break it to you, but being pregnant (especially at this stage) is pretty “gross” without anyone having to point it out to you. I missed her on Kimmel, but I did catch her on Ellen last week – yes, she’s open about what’s up, but I think that’s largely because everyone interviewing her feels like it’s a comment/question free-for-all. It’s amazing what people say to/ask a pregnant woman (or a new mom, for that matter).

Obviously, she’s out hawking her new show – but I give her a lot of credit for being “out there” at this stage…certainly the same can’t be said for the majority of female celebrities in their final stretch – it seems like they stay pretty much sequestered. Angelina is a perfect example of that…

When I’ve been that pregnant, I’ve tried my best to stay hidden because I got so sick and tired of all the comments and ridiculous questions.

If you’ve never had a baby before – just wait until it happens to you. If you’ve had a baby and were blessed with just a tiny basketball and all was peachy keen, hit the floor and thank the good Lord above.

    • Belle says:

Couldn’t agree more. I’m not even a JS fan, but she is open and says whatever she is thinking… it can sometimes come off as ‘real’ and sometimes as plain old tacky and inappropriate. Either way, the people interviewing her are ASKING about her pregnancy, knowing she is going to ramble on about anything and everything.

I posted above that even her constant talk of the junk she eats doesn’t usually seem to come out of nowhere… people interviewing her ask about cravings, and she’s happy to oblige and tell of the latest yummy treat she craves. Makes it sound like that is all she eats, but no one knows that. I highly doubt that she has no concern for her baby, and refuses to eat healthy foods, when she knows it is best for baby. She may very well be eating healthy food AND indulging in cravings… and yes, this will cause some additional weight gain.

As for the amniotic fluid, I am really surprised that this is the subject of such scrutiny… and that many find it so stomach-turning? As mentioned, at this stage of pregnancy, there is A LOT of gross stuff… and honestly, I think the mention of amniotic fluid is one of the least gross of the bunch… LOL

Also… I imagine the only reason she mentioned amniotic fluid is because it’s obviously an issue in her pregnancy. The only women I’ve ever heard discuss this is women who are having an issue with it… either too much, or too little. The additional comment about the fire hydrant was simply Jessica making light of another of the many ‘joys’ of pregnancy, as she does with everything. I actually admire her ability to do this… I was so freaking worried about every single thing in my pregnancies (especially the first), I drove myself nuts!!

      • Trek Girl says:

Yeah, I don’t find anything she said to be “gross”, and I think it’s a good thing that she mentioned having a lot of amniotic fluid, because a lot of people do not know it’s possible to have a lot of amniotic fluid. That’s some good information right there lol.

  23. Lola says:

I really don’t find the comment disturbing at all. Big deal, its a fact of life and she’s being honest, perhaps tmi, but not disgusting. And I really don’t understand the comment about how it’s to much for women who dont have or aren’t planning to have kids, again, this is life.

    • Trek Girl says:

Yeah, that’s the kind of information that they should hear so that they know a little bit more of what can happen, and so that they are more familiar with pregnancy and all the interesting things that can happen with it.

  24. Sugarrbunny says:

Is that her hair? It looks like a rat’s nest. I know she used to endorse hair extensions, but the back of her head in that one shot just looks awful.

I TiVo’d Fsshion star last week & was shocked at how well Nicole Richie came across. Jessica just came across as vapid blonde bimbo.

  25. ryan says:

I actually appreciate (what some might consider) shockingly truthful comments about pregnancy and childbirth. It’s a nice motivation to remain childless.

    • Tastykakes says:

Agree. The “magical wonder” of pregnancy & parenthood is often greatly exaggerated.

      • April says:

only someone who has never experienced pregnancy or childbirth would say that they are “over rated” wow.

  26. Miffits says:

I really wish Papa Joe had tried to keep this pregnancy under wraps til the right pay cheque came along. Can you imagine them trying to cover up the most pregnant pregnancy in history still? ‘It’s water retention’…. yeeeah.

  27. birdie says:

Gosh, so many mean comments. I didn’t like her, but now seeing her interviews, she seems so open, happy and excited. I wish her all the best!

  28. Dana says:

She probably “overshared” about the fluids because everyone feels free to comment on how huge she is. Maybe she was tired of laughing it off and decided to give the reason. Don’t really blame her.

And honestly, I have a pretty weak stomach, never had kids, but the words “amniotic fluid” didn’t even come close to triggering my gag reflex.

As for the sex comment, I heard that interview, and the woman on the show flat out asked her and she answered. She didn’t bring it up on her own. Yes, she could have said MYOB, but then she would have been seen as rude. Plus, we know she likes to share. They asked for it.

  29. Nos says:

Oh god. The horror. The absolute HORROR! To hear a woman SPEAK ABOUT HER BODY! What’s more, a body that is sustaining the life of another human being! DEAR GODS WHY HAVE YOU INFLICTED THIS UPON US?

  30. Jessica says:

I guess I’m the *only* one here who thinks it’s down right nasty and very immature for Jessica to talk about how much she loves to burp and fart and not brush her teeth, wash her hair, talk about her sex life, twit a photo of her sitting on the toilet, tweet about how many time a pregnant woman farts a day, etc.

Seriously people, This woman is 31, Not 13 and you act like it’s normal for her to talk this way. It’s plain and simple NASTY and REPULSIVE.

  31. BK says:

Oh Jessica – honestly kiddo – if you would just stop talking then you would not give those people who think you are “white trash” any ammo.

You may want to put on a public filter and work on what you say and how you say it, cause if you don’t, you are not doing much to help your image.

BTW, she seems to be one of the largest proportional pregnancies that I’ve seen, and I hope she doesn’t end up with Gestational Diabetes. How does someone carrying a single child get THAT big? It seems very unhealthy, at least from the outside looking in.

  32. maggiegrace says:

The woman is HUGE. My guess is that she really has let herself eat to her heart’s content. She looks like she’s gained 50 pounds. She’s going to regret it, as she will remain HUGE after that 10 pound baby emerges.

    • Belle says:

While I agree that Jessica looks very big, and she has given the impression that she eats nothing but junk, I highly doubt this is the case. I think she may be indulging in junk food more than she should (as a lot of first time mothers do… thinking it is okay to eat and gain weight… since they are pregnant! lol), but she is probably eating her share of healthy food as well.

I gained 60 pounds with each of my pregnancies, spent a great deal of time in each of them being sick, and throwing up… and while I did indulge in the occasional junk food craving, my diet was still a very healthy one. My babies were large (almost 9 pounds, and 10 1/2 pounds), and I did lose the weight… with 30-40 pounds coming off within the first month or two, it was about 6 months before I was at my normal weight (though I wasn’t really exercising much more than running crazy trying to care for a newborn… nursing, changing diapers, dealing with colic, trying to sleep and eat when I could…lol).

I will add that my husband is a big guy (not big as in fat… but big as in tall with a medium-large frame), and he was a big baby as well. I think that had a lot to do with the size of my babies.

  33. Olive says:

They make sugar free Oreos (which are mighty tasty) maybe she should fry those up instead. Lesser of two evils?

  34. only1shmoo says:

OK, I’m no OB/GYN, but I’m pretty sure that you have to have SOME healthy food while you’re pregnant. Maybe Jessica Simpson cares as little about her health as Paula Deen did, but when you’re having a baby I’m pretty sure you need fruits, veggies, grain and dairy more than doritos and deep-fried junk. Geez.

  35. wunder says:

She is carrying only one 10 lb baby? Looks more like 25 lb triplets!

  36. Leah No-No says:

I work at a bar that sells fried oreos and twinkies (the owners are from TX). The oreos are then rolled in powder sugar and come with raspberry syrup. It sounds too much, I know, but I am not gonna lie- it tastes like heaven. Especially if you’ve been drinking all night, or I imagine, you’re hugely pregnant.

  37. Courtney says:

it’s due to polyhydramnios the carriage of excess amniotic fluid which can be life threatenning for both her and her unborn daughter. it’s not neccessarily always because of GD though it only occures in 1% of pregnancies annually. she’s a petite girl normally as my mother was before she had children a simillar thing happened to Bryce Dallas Howard with both of her children and her baby girl Beatrice Jean was 9lbs 8oz at birth

    • Scarlet Vixen says:

Ugh…some women simply produce more amniotic fluid–it’s not necessarily caused by some life-threatening disease. *eyeroll* I happen to be one of those women–with both of my pregnancies I ate great, got a massively huge tummy, had 9lb+ babies, and had all the weight off in 6 weeks. My babies and I were always perfectly healthy.

  38. Emma says:

I’ve been finding her gross for more than a few years now. I don’t get all the “ah, Jess is so cute” rhetoric. And I know she’s pregnant, but I don’t think the amount of weight she’s gained is normal or healthy. I think she looks awful. And I just can’t forget how beautiful she once used to be, esp. during her Daisy Duke days. I think emotionally she’s a mess and that relationship of hers seems like she settled for some guy who liked her money too much to dump her. Don’t get how she is still even relevant. Oh, right…her nearly $1 billion fashion line. At least Papa Joe did something right!

  39. Naya says:

When I had my first baby I gained 25 lbs and lost it all. Then I got postpartum depression and gained 50 lbs from overeating. I didn’t lose any of that weight and 3 years later got pregnant again and gained 25 lbs. So now I had 75 extra lbs on me during that last month of pregnancy which was hella uncomfortable and when I went into labor I felt every single one of those 75 extra lbs.

  40. mazzy says:

It’s been said by many others, but…
Dang if she’s still 4 weeks from delivery, she is just way too big. Call me a concern troll, don’t care, but bottom line is… that ain’t healthy — for her or for her baby. There’s not a doctor or a medical book in the world that is in favor of gaining 70+ lbs in a (non-multiples) pregnancy — there is a very real risk of complications.

Of course everything will hopefully be OK & she’ll have her tummy tuck & personal chef to oversee her triumphant weight loss, but… it didn’t really have to be that way! Shame on her if she’s pigging out on purpose just to cash in on a WW endorsement deal (as some blinds have reported), she sure doesn’t need the money!

  41. JessSaysNo says:

She’s kind of taking it too far with the jokes about eating like crap. I’m pregnant and I admit I eat my fair share of ice cream and cookies but I also make sure to eat fruit and veggies each day. I don’t think anyone in my family would think it was cute to talk about buttered pop tarts, fried oreos, and other junk food all day. Frankly they may get concerned.

Also–excess amniotic fluid explains a lot about her size.

  42. daya says:

    as a mother….SHE IS F**KIN GROSS & DISGUSTING

  43. the original bellaluna says:

She just needs to stop talking now. I lost 46lbs of water weight prior to leaving the hospital – the nurse weighed me on every scale on the ward; had never seen anything like it in all her years – but I didn’t talk about my Stay-Puft Marshmallow feet at every opportunity.

Girlfriend needs to develop a brain/mouth filter.

    • Belle says:

      Sadly, JS doesn’t have that type of filter(;

In fairness to her, she is being ASKED about her pregnancy. Given that she doesn’t have that ‘filter’, is generally chatty and open about things… and is obviously excited about her pregnancy, the result is the one we keep seeing… LOL

  44. Marie Antoinette Jr. says:

I don’t see anything wrong with Jessica talking about her fetus, her fluids, or her farts. I am so sick of women thinking the delivery of their spawn is the most wondrous event to ever happen on the planet. Jessica is realistic–giving birth is usually pretty disgusting, and it can be downright barbaric. It’s about time a beautiful famous woman told it like it is.

    • Jessica says:

Jessica has been talking like this for years now, it’s NOT cute, adorable etc. in any way, shape or form.

she’s 31, she needs to act like it and not like some immature 13 year old girl.

      • Marie Antoinette Jr. says:

I didn’t say it was “cute” or “adorable” I said there was nothing wrong with it. And she can act however she wants, she’s not running for office or anything. She sings and sells purses for a living…I don’t think a little scatological humor from her is really that shocking.

    • Hola says:

THANK YOU Marie Antoinette! That is exactly what I was thinking. Now I shall go buy you a slice of cake…

  45. skuddles says:

For what it’s worth Asli, I saw a blind recently purported to be about Jessica saying she had a weight loss company deal in place post-pregnancy. So apparently that is why she is eating junk and letting herself get really big now…. except according to the blind, she’ll actually be going the surgery route on the sly.

  46. Bobby the K says:

If she were unattractive, we would be hearing none of it.

  47. Lindsay says:

Who cares if she talks about her bodily functions? Sure, it’s not ideal and can gross some people out, but tons of celebs talk about sex in graphic terms, why can’t she mention amniotic fluid or farting? How does it make her a disgusting person? PEOPLE ARE SO JUDGMENTAL. get over it, she looks SO happy whether or not she sounds immature. She looks like she’s just having fun and enjoying life!

    • Jessica says:

How does it make her a disgusting person? Because she’s 31 years old, That’s why.

The way she is acting is just trashy and low class and she thinks she’s being cute.

Do you go around telling people how much you love sex and how your orgasms are?

or how much you love to burp and fart?

What’s next a Twitter picture of Baby’s first crap?

      • Belle says:

I agree that sometimes she comes across as trashy and low-class.. this isn’t something she will ‘grow out of’, it is her personality, and many people find her to be, not trashy and low class, but honest, open and real.

She isn’t doing anything different than she has in the past… but right now in interviews, the questions are obviously focused on her pregnancy…. and she answers them with the same ‘flair’ she has always had.

Oh, and she is far from the first pregnant celebrity to talk about her ‘pregnant sex’.

  48. impppy says:

oh c’mon, yeah it isn’t the healthiest thing in the world but as long as she takes care of herself generally I think she’ll be fine. I’m sure she isn’t eating this junk crap for breakfast, lunch and dinner. She’s enjoying her first pregnancy, why can’t anyone else see that?

  49. Penguin says:

Hearing about her bodily functions & sex life is a bit gross but it’s not like she’s murdered any1.

  50. Hollis says:

It seems like Jessica has been pregnant forever!! (Beyonce’s pregnancy just flew by.)

  51. jc126 says:

I don’t think she has gestational diabetes. They’re certainly testing her glucose at her visits.

I like a couple of Oreos, but anymore than that and I get sick. Blech.

  52. normades says:

Sorry, but I think this “extra amniotic fluid” story is just an excuse for her excessive weight gain (and not her crap diet).

Polyhydramnios is rare and she shouldn’t be so flippant about it (especially if she said she had a lot):

“Polyhydramnios (too much amniotic fluid) occurs in about 1 out of 100 of pregnancies. Most cases are mild and result from a slow buildup of excess fluid in the second half of pregnancy. But in a few cases, fluid builds up quickly as early as the 16th week of pregnancy. This usually leads to very early birth.

….In about half of cases, the cause is not known. Here are some of the known causes:

    – Birth defects in the baby that affect the ability to swallow. Normally, when the fetus swallows, the level of amniotic fluid goes down a bit. This helps to balance out the increase in fluid caused by fetal urination.
    -Heart defects in the baby
    -Diabetes during pregnancy
-Infection in the baby during pregnancy
-Blood incompatabilities between the pregnant woman and the fetus (examples: Rh or Kell disease)”

    It could also be twins.

    • Belle says:

Having ‘a lot’ of amniotic fluid doesn’t necessarily mean she has polyhydramnios. The fluid is measured in an index from 5 to 24 (among other more technical figures). While 5 is considered low, and 24 is considered high or abnormal (polyhydramnios), anything in between is considered normal. So, it is possible to be on the lower end of the normal range or the upper end of the normal range, and still be considered healthy and ‘normal’.

    • elle says:

I was thinking that. If she has Polyhydramnios it’s a very serious condition. I honestly think she’s just eating too much and she wasn’t small before she got pregnant.

  53. Str8Shooter says:

This chick is unbelievable. Never have I heard of so-called ‘celebrity’..or even just a regular everyday person…talk incessantly, and in disgusting detail…about all of their assorted bodily functions.

    Pure TRASH. Through and through.

  54. Twez says:

Apparently she’s carrying that extra amniotic fluid in her face and chins.

  55. Sarah says:

I had a rude awakening that a lot of my baby weight in my last pregnancy was from GiGis cupcakes. It did come off. It just took longer than after my first pregnancy.

  56. M.F says:

The last sentence of this article was cruel. Weight gain during pregnancy is scary enough, as if women need to hear more negativity surrounding it. I started my pregnancy at 130, made it all the way up to 177 and four months later am back to 130. How much of that was baby? Most of it. Pregnant women retain an insane amount of water. One more thing: it is not gross for a woman to speak freely about pregnancy. It’s a natural thing and gift to humanity. Grow up.

    • Penguin says:

I agree but do we really need to hear about the burping, farting, pregnancy sex, poor personal hygiene and pictures of her on the toilet.

  57. Meg says:

At least she’s actually pregnant unlike Beyonce who totally faked it.

  58. Leslie says:

It looks to me that she does have GDM. She might be embarrassed because of how she overshares everything, including her bad diet. I work in L&D and she looks like a typical patient with polyhydramnios because of GDM.

  59. Jessica says:

I think she has had pregnancy brain all her life.

That being said, I did audibly laugh a few times during the interview. I am past the horror of her Stay-Puff-Marshmallow body, and now it’s kinda funny. She was winded just talking.

  60. ldel says:

she’s the kind of girl who thinks she’s so hot that she can be extra gross and still be hot….but she’s wrong

  61. Overrated says:

What is kool aid and what are twinkies?? Aussie here….

    • Chrissy says:

Koolaid: Sugar-loaded artificially colored and flavored punch type beverage. Twinkies: Sugar-loaded and fattening individually wrapped yellow cakes shaped like ovals filled with a white sugary filling.

  62. April says:

I think she is funny, charming, and real. at least she isnt faking it and acting like she is perfect, and a model for everyone else like gwyneth or giselle. and she is certainly not worrying about her image, or she wouldnt have made some of those comments. she just tells it like it is. yeah she is a little airheaded, but refreshing.

yeah, she should have been a little more health concious, but that is her issue. I wish her the best. I dont think the “gross” comments are bad, like with my sisters and i we could say anything “gross” we were experiencing or make a joke of it and it was funny and relatable. I think mostly the people who havent had babies are grossed out.

  63. Chrissy says:

I think if you’ve had a baby yourself, her amniotic fluid talk isn’t the most disgusting thing ever. BUT, that doesn’t mean it isn’t lacking in tact and TMI. She just talks too much. Especially about herself. I do think she is in for a rude awakening: I doubt she’s going to have a “ten-pound baby” or that she has abnormally large amount of fluid. I think she’s been chowing down and may have a slightly large, but not crazy-large, baby.

  64. Allons - y Allonso says:

she’s been pregnant forever! I’m starting to think she’s like Joe’s wife on Family Guy

  65. telesma says:

Does she have borderline personality or bipolar disorder or something? Because the oversharing has become a disturbing pattern.

  66. Cookie says:

I find all of the other things more gross than this. Sooo, she’s talking about amniotic fluid :-/ I don’t get why you find this so disturbing.

  67. Dee Cee says:

What could be causing this problem?

Experts don’t know what causes many cases of hydramnios, particularly mild ones. Some common causes of moderate to severe cases include the following:

Maternal diabetes You can end up with high fluid levels if you have diabetes and you’re having trouble managing it properly. Hydramnios is diagnosed in about 10 percent of pregnant diabetics, usually in the third trimester.

Carrying twins or multiples You’re at risk for high fluid levels if you’re carrying twins or multiples. Hydramnios is especially likely in the case of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, in which one twin suffers from too little amniotic fluid while the other creates too much.

Fetal abnormalities In rare cases, a baby will have a medical problem that causes him to stop swallowing fluid while his kidneys continue to produce more urine from the fluid he’s already swallowed. This may include any condition that makes it hard for him to swallow, such as pyloric stenosis, a cleft lip or palate, or some kind of blockage in the gastrointestinal tract. Certain neurological problems, such as neural tube defects or hydrocephaly, can keep the baby from swallowing as well.

Fetal anemia In even rarer cases, hydramnios can be a sign that a baby has severe anemia caused by an Rh blood incompatibility or an infection such as fifth disease. In both cases, the problem can be treated with a blood transfusion in utero. In the case of fifth disease, the baby may recover without treatment.
What will happen if I’m diagnosed with hydramnios?

If you’re diagnosed with hydramnios, your practitioner will order a high-resolution ultrasound to check for abnormalities and possibly amniocentesis to test for a genetic defect.

You’ll also need to have regular nonstress tests and ultrasounds for the rest of your pregnancy to closely monitor your baby’s development, and you’ll be watched closely for signs of preterm labor. If you haven’t yet been tested for gestational diabetes, you’ll be tested now.

You’ll be monitored carefully during labor as well. Because of the extra amniotic fluid, there’s a greater risk of an umbilical cord prolapse (when the cord falls through the cervical opening) or a placental abruption when your water breaks. Both require an immediate c-section.

That’s why your caregiver will have you come to the hospital early in labor — or right away if your water breaks before you go into labor. You’re also at increased risk for postpartum bleeding, because your overly distended uterus may not be able to contract well, so you’ll be watched closely after you give birth, too.

  68. mymy says:

why is her saying she has a lot of Amniotic fluid gross? This is a true condition. Everyone is always asking her why she is so big. And she said why.Your bump does not get that big from eating junk. Her stomach is huge. And it is a dangerous condition for baby. I am amazed by some of the holier than thou comments about her appearance. She comes off as very down to earth. I admire her business savoy.

  69. Cait says:

Does she not realize that your body keeps producing amniotic fluid for a while AFTER your water breaks? Does she seriously not get that? Much less the overshare?

Secondly, I’m thinking GD, too. My daughter, who is now 4 months old, was 8 lbs. at 36 weeks (I gained 25 lbs., and boy, those last five are a bitch to lose). Large baby or not, you don’t necessarily gain the tremendous amount of weight she’s been gaining. I know that every woman’s body handles pregnancy differently, and I’m not judging any woman for how she chooses to approach pregnancy – but I’ll make this observation: if you don’t treat your body well during pregnancy, you can expect to gain more weight than is healthy.

  70. Meara says:

OMG, she is so very cute. I like to see the genuine person, and that she is. Ease up girls, she’s just a little ‘ole backwater girl lacking much of the Hollywood polish. Kinda like Taylor Swift implies she is, but never really brings to the table…
    Luv u Jessica,<3
