Ricky Martin shows off toddlers Valentino & Matteo in Vanity Fair Spain

I’ve been surprised by how much press Ricky Martin has done for his Broadway gig as Che Guevara in the revival of Evita. I covered one of his lengthy interviews (with Details) here, and he’s also appeared on the cover of The Advocate, and now Vanity Fair Spain. Ricky gave VF the big photo exclusive, showing off his toddler twins (Valentino and Matteo) and his partner, Carlos Gonzalez. If you can read and speak Spanish, you can read VF’s excerpts here. Here are some translated highlights:

Ricky on his egg donor: “I did not rent a womb. That expression is used by fundamentalists. They loaned me an abdomen … I would give my life for the woman who helped me bring my sons into this world.”

On past relationships with women: “I’ve slept with women and I’ve fallen in love with them and I’ve felt wonderful things. There was love, passion. I don’t regret anything, any of the relationships I’ve lived, they taught me a lot, both men and women equally.”

On a change with Spain’s same-sex marriage law: “If they touch [the law], now as a Spanish citizen, I would stand up and unite with my community.”

[From Vanity Fair, translation by Just Jared]

Once again, Ricky is discussing how he had sexual and romantic relationships with women as well as men… and I still find it interesting. From what I’ve read, Ricky does self-identify himself as gay at this point, but I think he’s probably more bisexual, right? He falls in love with the soul of a person, regardless of vagina/dong status.

As for the babies… God, they’re so cute!

I don’t think he’s bisexual. He’s gay. I think he keeps repeating stuff about his “girlfriends” because he lied A LOT about being in the relationship with women in the past to improve his public image. And now he’s pretending that it meant something

  15. Wif says:

  20. Christina says:

It’s not Che Guevara in Evita!!!!!!! It’s just “che” an extremely common Argentina word that everyone uses to refer to people, meaning “guy” “man” “friend”…The character of Che is like an M.C. and he’s really just an embodiment of the Argentine everyman, the common people, the people Evita was supposedly out there representing

  21. Jayna says:

    Gorgeous little boys.

  22. Miss Beca says:

  24. Anne de Vries says:

I have never cared about him but I LOVE the way he talks about the surrogate. That’s some real acknowledgement and respect for what that lady has done – a lot of other celebrities should take it for an example.

  25. orion70 says:

I think it is lovely, what he has said both about the surrogate and his past relationships. Respect all round.

And there is one helluva good gene pool there in that photo on all sides. Gorgeous kids, gorgeous men.

  26. Suzy (from Ontario, Canada) says:

I don’t know how anyone can deny gay couples children through adoption just because they are gay. These little boys are so obviously loved to pieces and happy. When he talks about them he just glows with happiness and pride. They are beyond sweet! They seem like a really nice little family.

  27. ezra says:

    A really nice family indeed.
The love is evident and these children are flourishing.

  28. Stubbylove says:

    So cute – love Ricky.
