Oh little sweetie! U rest in peace now. So his owner gave him to a shelter when he got too big? Um, how about controlling how much he ate? He’s a pretty dumb owner.

Me too! No one I know watches it and I want to talk about it so bad! Luckily, there is a recap at LaineyGossip 🙂

  16. some bitch says:

    Poor kitty.

What happened to Rihanna? When she came out she was really cute and fun, then the Chris Brown thing happened and her act got a bit “darker” but now she’s just obnoxious! She went from being pretty sexy to Showgirls-esque raunchy.

    • T.C. says:

My take on the Rihanna bit is she was embarrassed and ashamed about being found out as an abused woman. She didn’t want to be a victim she didn’t want people to pity her so she went to the other extreme of being obnoxious. She wants to be offensive and look tough. Girl needs some serious therapy.

RIP in kitty heaven Meow. This news made me cry. I love animals.

  17. Ana says:

Nooooo! This is so sad!! He was so sweet! RIP Meow!!

  18. Ginger says:

That made me cry! I used to volunteer and foster with different feline organizations. It’s always devastating when you lose an animal you were trying to help. RIP meow

  19. lucy2 says:

    Aw, poor Meow.

Why would Rihanna need to rehearse? Isn’t all her stuff just auto-tuned anyway?

  20. Mommad says:

That poor cat. I dont think the shelter that was parading him around the talk show circuit for their 15 minutes helped his condition, its a known fact that flying can exacerbate certain conditions.
I doubt this would have happened if they would have let him get to a healthy weight before parading him all over the country.

    • sluggo says:

ITA. Commenters elsewhere are also pointing out that Meow’s publicity tour and flight schedule had to have taken its toll on poor Meow’s system.

I have a cat that starts panting and wheezing when he gets overly stressed, and he’s not obese, nor has he been boxed up in a plane. I can’t help but think that if the people “taking care of” Meow were truly concerned about his health, they would have kept him where he was and just concentrated on, well, his HEALTH. Not on his being the poster child for obese cats AND bringing some sweet publicity to the shelter and its staff.

      Rest in peace, Meow.

    • Eve says:

      @ Mommad:

That’s exactly what I thought when I saw this news.

  21. UniqJaz says:

Rest in Peace Meow. I love cats and this breaks my heart. I love that he looked like a giant furball.

    • scylla says:

It is animal cruelty if someone overfeeds his cat (or dog) like this. We are their caretakers.

If the same thing happens to a child, which is also in our care everybody would be enraged (or I at least hope so) because it is so unhealthy.

  22. Theuth says:

I just hugged my cat after seeing this 🙁 he’s a black (and lazy) beast of 9 kgs and already has 15 years…

    • the original bellaluna says:

Not to worry, hon. I’ve got a 20 year old black & white kitteh that is still an adorable love (except when she binge/purges – don’t ask! – and misses the cat box) and she’s on her third toddler. She was porky in her day, but she’s lost weight as she’s gotten older (for which I’m grateful).

I know this sounds awful, but I would rather her die happy in her sleep, in bed with “her boy” than have to put her to sleep for health reasons. I don’t think I could do it.

      • Theuth says:

Aw, thanks. His mother (my other cat) has died about 1 month ago – she just disappeared one night after cuddling with us for the day – so by now we are petting him like there’s no tomorrow, and he’s taking advantage of it LOL. It doesn’t help that he’s a very BIG (heavy and long) cat and lazy – we always joke saying “But he’s BIG BONED!” 😀

  23. Camille (The original) says:

    Sad :(.

  24. Bings says:

    Kaiser,

Please check out the story about John Travolta being sued for sexual battery. Very juicy details. Hee hee!

    • the original bellaluna says:

      Oh that is so GROSS!

I don’t know where you live, but in Cali, masseurs/masseuses are required to have STD tests on a regular basis. When I asked “Why?” I was basically told “Because they think we’re prostitutes.”

I thought that was incredibly rude and presumptuous. I mean, I’m sure it happens in some cases, but still.

  25. DreamyK says:

Poor kitty, Meow was literally loved to death with food 🙁

Speaking of sad, John Travolta has been outed for the umpteenth time.

You’d think he would learn. This is way back in 2009
” Want to make this married former A list television and movie actor stop coming to your hotel? Tell him he is banned from receiving any more massages from the male masseurs employed by the hotel because of his unwanted and unwelcome advances. Our actor hasn’t been back since.”

  26. the original bellaluna says:

Meow, we hardly knew ye. RIP in kitteh heaven.

I hope that mom also taught her son how to use said stun gun – they require close contact with your attacker.

Trousersnake and Riri are both asshole douches and will continue to be.

In other news: the sky is blue; water is wet; Blohan & Bynes will continue their substance abuse; ME!Ann will continue on her quest as Chief Fame-whore, and Ediot will continue to go along with it to keep receiving his allowance.

  27. Twez says:

Meow… too young to die, too fat to live.

Seriously, though… respiratory illnesses can take even a slim healthy cat down quickly. It’s a shame. It seems that the shelter people were doing okay with restricting his diet and helping him lose weight slowly but surely.

  28. moopsie says:

I wish I could of held that cat

  29. abbizmal says:

RIP sweet kitty. I’m going to go cry now.

  30. crtb says:

I love that fat fuck of a cat!
It made me cry when I heard he died.
My cat is a big old fatty.
I just love his chunky butt.
It tickles me to death to see him run:
Hakuna Matata, Hakuna Matata, Hakuna Matata….lol

  31. Michelle says:

So I read on a website(http://weeklyworldnews.com/headlines/47682/rihanna-snl/) that she ditched rehearsal to be with Chris Brown a little longer for his birthday that’s on Cinco De Mayo. I looked at his Wiki article and the article was accurate with the date (May 5th). I don’t know how credible this website is but I thought that seems like something irresponsible that she would do. The first performance was too raunchy but I was actually impressed with the second one.

  32. jc126 says:

Poor kitty. I hate it when people overfeed their pets.

    • the original bellaluna says:

I have a bulimic cat (she binges then purges – it’s truly charming – /sarcasm; she doesn’t even chew half the time) but I think it’s because she has Kitteh Alzheimer’s (she’s 20). (Having done in-home care for Alzheimer’s patients, I know that oftentimes they forget they’ve just eaten.)

I leave dry food down all the time, but when I hear her doing her “snarf routine,” I go pick up both bowls (we have 2 kittehs) and tell her “Nope. No more.”

Sometimes Mama’s gotta be a meanie.

      • jc126 says:

Yeah, my kitty cat barfs fairly often, too. He always has.
he’s generally model-thin (he’s half Siamese), but once in a while, he gains a pound or two. I know some cats are just naturally going to be fatties, but this degree of overfeeding is unforgiveable.

    • B says:

      I agree. Gross & sad.

  33. bored says:

    Poor kitty. 🙁

  34. wunder says:

    That is so sad!

    Q: Can’t a veterinary surgeon do a gastric bypass for a cat???

If it can be done for people, why not for animals too? It would have been better to do that for Meow.

  35. mel says:

Yes yes fat cats are so much cuter.
Meanwhile this poor little guy probably suffered most of his life due to his extreme weight.

Obese animals suffer just as much as humans, from joint pain, heart burn, headaches, stomach ulcers, you name it.

Who ever ‘cared’ this cat should be ashamed of themselves. It’s disgusting to treat any living creature this way. Not realizing that this is harmful, shows a complete lack of common sense.

  36. Carol says:

I am so sorry to hear about Meow. He should have had a chance at a good life when he lost weight. I took my dog to the vet this week and was told she needs to get 5 to 8 lbs off her weight, I will work hard at this now after reading this story. We love our animals and we sometimes give them treats that are not good for them. I have to remember this
