  1. My Darling Pinkett says:

That WAS awesome! I watched it yesterday, and it made me so happy. Really brought me back to my childhood. I used to watch Fresh Prince with my family. We still love that show. 🙂

    • bns says:

I’ve played that vid at least a dozen times now, and I cheese at my computer like an idiot every time.

  2. Lisa says:

I saw that this morning…very fun, good on him for embracing his past. I saw him at a Sixers game in March and they were playing “Getting Jiggy With It” and he was singing and dancing along, it was very fun for the crowd.

  3. Eve says:

Is Taylor Kitsch’s career over? [Gawker]

I certainly won’t miss him if that ever happens.

The reasons why there are people trying to make him happen are beyond me…the man has to be the blandest (among the blandest) actors who have ever graced the big screen — bland face, rather ordinary fit body (for Hollywood standards), bland talent…seriously, why is Taylor Kitsch?*

Good god, he has less charisma than Ryan Reynolds!

*Lainey loves saying that, I’m going to use the expression to describe one of her favourites.

    • QQ says:

YES!! Why is he a Thing?!

    • Jill says:

He an pretty much only play Tim Riggins since he is Tim Riggins in real life

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

Who is he, Eve? What has he been in?

      • Naye in VA says:

Didnt he do “Roswell” back in the day with Katherine Hiegl? Didnt feel like looking it up

      • Eve says:

        @ OriginalKitten:

You mean Taylor Kitsch? Because if you mean Phoenix, I’m borrowing Maguita’s gloves to bitch slap you right now.

Let’s see…Friday Night Lights has a lot of loyal fans and, apparently, he’s god in it (or so Lainey says). By the way, Lainey has been trying to make him happen for a while — mostly because she loves Friday Night Lights and because he’s Canadian.

As for his movie career…he’s the leading actor in two movies that had ridiculously big budgets but bombed hard at the box office.

Honestly, I scratch my head over the fact he’s been chosen to star in so many movies. Especially two that were supposed to be blockbusters — think about it: Will Smith is working his ass off trying to sell MIB III and it’s not certain the movie will recoup its production costs…Kitsch’s movies combined cost 459 million dollars and there are people who don’t people not knowing who he is!!!

I’m not a movie producer but that sounds like a bad call to me.

      • Maguita says:

Yo Eve! I need my gloves back!!

And before going off on Kitsch, wait for Savages to come out. His Disney movie, John Carter, was undermined with internal political dumbassness. No one thought Battleship was a brain teaser. But most everyone agrees, he has screen presence. Many have changed their minds about Taylor after watching both of these movies.

Savages is going to be a stretch for him: Intentional hot factor, acting muscle, AND on-screen violent mofo!

I’m taking my gloves away now for Country b-tch.

Do not forget Eve, with great b-tch-slapping gloves power, comes great ass-whooping responsibility.

      • Eve says:

        @ Maguita:

Do not forget Eve, with great b-tch-slapping gloves power, comes great ass-whooping responsibility.

        My spidey-senses already know that.

By the way, I know about John Carter’s political shenanigans (I was interested in this movie for James PureSEX, Dominic West and Ciarán Hinds) but still…if the movie was any good or Kitsch was considered remarkable in it, it would have tracked well.

I’m sorry, I just don’t see it (Kitsch’s appeal/charisma/talent). I laughed out loud with an article at Pajiba titled “Ten actors we wish were more talented” (or something like that) and he was on the list.

      • the original bellaluna says:

OriginalKitten – Taylor Kitsch was also Gambit/Remy LeBeaux in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (and I guess some of the video games and/or the TV show?).

      • Alex says:

        Eve@ LOL I agree…

I watched a few of Taylor Kitsch’s films: The Bang Bang Club, X-Men Wolverine, John Carter y The Convenant, and like Eve said, he’s one of the most blandest actors I ever seen. Zero charisma, average to awful talent skills and bland presence… I still laught the cover of EW calling him “the next Brad Pitt” LMFAO. Say what you want about Pitt’s personal life, but he’s talented enough (Even with limitations), smart decision and very charismatic on screen.

Finally, I know X-Men was a dreadful film but he RUINED Gambit for God Sake!!

Also, I love FNL, but it was more work for the writers and directors – heck, Minka Kelly was ever compelling!!

maguita@, you need to check the facts of “Savages”:

        1. Most of test screeners called Benicio Del Toro and Aaron Johnson the “Best of the group”.
        2. Oliver Stone hasn’t made a competent film IN YEARS and some of his films contained really cartoonish and terrible performances (Thandie Newton as Condolezza)
        3. The film will released with “The Amazing Spider Man”. If I choose, I prefer the more talented couple Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone instead the blands Taylor Kitsch and Blake Lively

    • QQ says:

      Phoenix!! *Le and Swoon*

    • T.C. says:

      Eve,

Don’t worry. Lainey next article will be on how Taylor Kitsch and Blake Lively are going to be Oscar nominees for the movie Savages. She won’t give up on trying to make Taylor Kitsch happen.

After John Carter bombed she kept talking up Battleship. Saying it will make a lot of money cause that’s the type of movie people want to see. She will find an excuse for BS tanking. He is her golden boy. LMAO

      • truetalk says:

Is this Taylor guy d one that played d lead in John Carter?. I saw d movie and he wasn’t bad.
My problem with d movie is that it was too much like a budget “Avatar”. The story was too similar but not as spectacular.

      • Eve says:

        @ Truetalk:

Problem is…John Carter’s budget was 250 million dollars.

    • normades says:

Ohhh yes, Eve! We do love our JP!!! I would even when he was “out”, “fat” and “dirty”.

      • Eve says:

        @ T.C.:

Yes, she’s already saying that, at least, “Battleship” has made its budget back internationally (as if, the movie’s budget 209 million dollars + advertising). And that wouldn’t hurt his career — maybe, but it certainly isn’t helping it either. I don’t hate him — as I said, he’s too bland to be hated on. But I fail to see what people see in him.

I’ll watch Savages though (for Benicio Del Toro) and I shall see if he (Kitsch) can deliver at least one good performance.

        @ Normades:

I was trying to find any thread with a comment posted by you, because I wanted to share that video. He’s amazing in it. My favourite actor (as in “genuinely talented” actor), hands down.

      • normades says:

Awww…thanks Eve!!! He is mine too, hands, feet and heart down.

      • T.C. says:

        Eve,

Lainey is FOS. Battleship has to make at least $420 Million to break even. Theater owners keep half the profit. Battleship is on track to lose the same amount of money for Universal that John Carter lost for Disney. Lainey’s PR for Taylor Kitsch is incredible desperate. Savages isn’t going to make any money either. He isn’t talented enough to get big praise from critics. U are right he is too bland to hate. I like seeing Lainey trying to spin things for the dude.

      • normades says:

@Eve: Thanks again!! Look how thin he is! I wish that was my nipple he was pinching!

Regarding TK. Battelship and John Carter both bombed big time but as he’s not a big star, I don’t think he’ll be blamed for these failures. He’ll prolly get a pass for now. It looks worse for Riri who is a big star to be in a bomb.

And talk about who is happening: Channing Tatum. He’s been really lucky that his films have been doing well and I think he’ll continue the streak with MMike.

    • H says:

Taylor kitsch is like the 2012 version of Sam Worthington. Hollywood keeps putting them in movies and try to pass them off as “leading men”. The only difference is Sam was in the highest grossing movie of all time (avatar) and Taylor is in the biggest bomb of all time (john carter). Also neither of them can act.

  5. Eleonor says:

The other two sitting with Will are Gary Barlow and…Tom Jones???

    • Cel says:

Yes its Tom Jones who is a judge on The Voice UK and sang a song from his latest cd.

    • kit says:

      Yep, that’s Tom Jones.
Probably to promote the UK version of The Voice. I saw some articles claiming his crew is very much behind in support from the public in general.

  6. orion70 says:

I loved this, but it would have been extra awesome with dancing.

  7. HappyJoyJoy says:

Must be such a nice feeling to look back at your early work and still be proud of it. I love this man; I love that he doesn’t bitch and moan about fame and doesn’t hate to be associated with the role that launched him. I wonder what Jennifer Lopez would say if asked to sing a Selena song.

    • Maguita says:

B-tch-slap the sh-t out of you!

Jenny from the block does not comply with fan requests; We should be honored that she deigns to grace us with her presence.

… Unless you are tacky Johnny-thug from the hood, then she’d just make you husband #whatever.

    • DeltaJuliet says:

Or was asked to dance like a FlyGirl.

      • the original bellaluna says:

DeltaJuliet – SERIOUSLY! “Put on one of those Fly Girls’ costumes and dance like you did on In Living Color, when you could actually dance instead of just have mock sex onstage, bitch!” 😀 (Bet she’d have her security team beat the crap out of us!)

  8. ViktoryGin says:

Haha. Fun. Takes me back to my childhood.

  9. Neelyo says:

Can’t stand Will Smith but at least he has a sense of humor about his past. If that had been Mark Wahlberg, he would have stormed off the set before rapping ‘Good Vibration’ or whatever his one hit was called.

    • Dena says:

Me either, but this somehow seemed to make me like him just a little bit.

He has always come off as so immature to me. Here, he actually seems like a grown man–an adult. Wow.

  10. Amy says:

I think Gary Barlow was the best part of that clip. SO cute. Mama has a crush.

  11. Mariya says:

Will Smith always strikes me as a genuinely good guy

  12. mia girl says:

That Will Smith clip is funny. Loved Gary Barlow.

I really enjoy the format of Graham Norton’s program (as compared to the US late night talk shows). It allows for funny and seemingly more genuine interaction with and between his guests. I enjoy almost every episode even if I’m not that interested in the guests.

    • ahoyhoy says:

Yes, mia girl..I’m repeating myself (see below), but i wish we more hosts who can converse & think spontaneously like Graham. Our hosts are so plastic; interviews are always just controlled commercials. Boring!

Every time I watch a GN clip, I get worked up about his quality vs. most American t.v. chat. Sorry.

    • Bette says:

I agree!! But then, I think almost everything in British entertainment is better than everything in American entertainment. (And I’m American.)

  13. ahoyhoy says:

Will is adorable when he relaxes. He pings my gaydar hard in this video. He seems to really relax with a HUGE laugh at the host’s joke at the 1:00 mark. ping ping ping.

It must be nice to be on a show with spontaneous, funny people as host.
They seem to value wit over looks in British & Australian chat hosts; I wish we had more of that here. jmo

    • Tiffin says:

I’m not sure but I think Graham Norton is actually Irish. He’s been a huge hit on British television for years now.

      • Andie B says:

Yes, Graham Norton is Irish. I LOVE Will Smith. Always have. Is he a Scientologist?

      • the original bellaluna says:

AndieB – There have been rumours for years that the CO$ heavily “courted” Will & Jada for their membership, and there have also been rumours for years that both are “closet” members (which I don’t think is possible with the CO$) but nothing has been confirmed.

  14. Chris says:

I love Will Smith so much. That was pretty awesome. I like that he hasn’t forgotten his roots and embraces it.

  15. Frayed_Edges says:

That was totally awesome! He is such a good sport!

  16. LBeees says:

    That was great!

Makes me forgive him his scientology.

  17. Jayna says:

He’s a good guy. I appreciate him when I think of all the flatliners I have seen in interviews acting like they can’t be bothered to entertain the audience.

  18. moo says:

    LOVES Will Smith!!!

  19. Rhiley says:

Will Smith is so f’in weird and FAKE. He and Justin Timberlake seem cut from the same cloth. I like the black girls in the audience, though. They make it happen.

  20. Esmom says:

Regarding the SNL “grads,” Lainey questions the wisdom of Jason Sudeikis leaving: “The better question might be does everyone start with Will Ferrell dreams and end up with David Spade realities?”

    Funny.

  21. Bobby sue says:

Awesomeness. I LOVE that show…oh my gosh.

  22. bns says:

I don’t care about the gay rumors or the Scientology, he’s a Movie Star through and through.

  23. Tanguerita says:

That’s how you talk about your TV-past – Rooney Maras of the world should take lesson.

  24. Bek says:

Ahh, the Fresh Prince. So many good memories and it’s great to see Will being such a good sport and rapping the theme. Loved it!!!

  25. lettylynton says:

I don’t think Katy wanted to copy it as much as just use the technique, and it did fit her. Pink’s was awesome; only if I did that I would puke.

The Beckham boys are adorable! I think the middle one really looks like Victoria.

  26. mary simon says:

There are other clips from this appearance on youtube – Will Smith was awesome throughout – quick and funny and had the audience in the palm of his hand. Loved the rap!

  27. truthposter says:

Craig Ferguson is the best talkshow host(youtube his shows…not the Scotland ones if you’re new)! … And he is in the US. …but he is Scottish so I guess he doesn’t count as being ‘plastic and controlled’ – he’s anything but. Anyway, love Will Smith! P.S. lol @Lbees

  28. normades says:

I’d like him better if he didn’t pimp out his kids. I feel really sorry for Willow.

  29. Jag says:

LOL I love that Will Smith clip! 😀

  30. the original bellaluna says:

Just got to watch the clip, and LOVE how good-naturedly he handled both the request AND performing it. His interplay with the keyboard guy was funny!

  31. the original bellaluna says:

We got to watch the eclipse with our neighbours and my in-laws (2 of them, anyway), courtesy of my neighbour’s welding mask. It was pretty cool. Couldn’t photograph it, but took photos of the shadows cast on our house and their’s.
