Aaron Eckhart wants Angelina Jolie to join Dark Knight cast as Catwoman

Nothing has been finalized yet, but Aaron Eckhart, who plays Harvey Dent/Two Face in The Dark Knight, is pretty excited that Angelina Jolie is on the short list to play Catwoman in the next installment of the Batman movies. Eckhart says Angelina would be a fantastic in the role and he’s sure that the movie would be an even bigger blockbuster if she was cast.

Angelina Jolie would make a “fantastic” Catwoman, says Aaron Eckhart.

Aaron said: “I thought that was a fantastic idea. When I read that, I felt like all of our records that we made would be broken if she did Catwoman.”

[From Female First]

Julie Newmar, probably the hottest and most iconic Catwoman in Batman history, also thinks Angelina would make the perfect feline villainess. Newmar believes Jolie would “own” the part.

When I first heard the idea of Jolie playing Catwoman, I thought it was inspired. She’s got the look, the eyes, for sure, she’s got the slinky walk and catlike moves, and she can certainly purr a line of dialogue. But I just can’t see her in the role anymore, all I see when I think of Angelina Jolie now is earth mother. I see her in long, white cotton nightgowns, sitting on the grass with skads of children all around her, smiling at them and looking up lovingly at Brad as he sits in a lawn chair with his hat, mustache, and for some reason, smoking a pipe. Yeah, I don’t know, either.

But my point is, after all this talk about love and babies, some of the sexy has worn off, and to play Catwoman, you need all of the sexy. Since Angelina started with an overabundance of the sexy, she doesn’t have as far to go to get to Catwoman level, but stopping the recent deluge of mommy and lovestruck partner conversation would definitely help get the process started.

Eckhart has a movie awaiting release co-starring Jennifer Aniston. Surprisingly, Traveling is not billed as a romantic comedy, but a romantic drama, so Aniston is bucking the grain a bit. It kind of seems like Eckhart just wants to see what all the fuss is about in this little triangle no one can stop talking about.

Where has he been these last few years? I guess he wanted a quote to get into the tabloids. My problem would not be her lack of sexiness but her tabloid persona taking over the whole movie and everything around it. Look what happened to AMH and now Changeling.

Of course I would never watch it. Somehow sitting through a whole 3 hours of Angelina Jolie does not seem like the best idea. I am not sure about the BO performance, wanted (135 million) after all made less than the anticipated money having opened very well.

Hopefully this is just a bad rumour. We cannot deal with another round of breast feeding pictures, poo stories, crocodile tears for dead mothers, how she fell in love with Brad this , that, this , that, yada yada yada.

She would probably adopt a child or give birth to one that summer just in time for the movie release.

  2. Lilou says:

Oh my…. Trying to do like Dlisted (calling AJ “earth mother” and picturing her as godess)??? He does it better than you!!!

Seriously, what’s wrong with CB lately about AJ??? OK, she talks… But she asked about it! And she is not the first celebrity to talk everytime about her family (Kidman, Witherspoon, Beckinslate, Beckham, etc…). Lately, you’ve been so hard on them!! I usually like this website, because it’s smart: it doesn’t trash celebrities just for the fun. It’s always very objective. It always make good points…

But when it comes to AJ, your comments are bitter, mean, and look like feroce jalousy…

And for a person who trashed Kate Beckinslate about her comment about when you’re a women, you cannot be good at the kitchen and at sex; I find it ironic, than now, you think a mother a 6, cannot be sexy anymore (because she talked about her family)!!!! We’re back in the 50’s?????

AJ would be perfect for the role (despite having 6 children and talking about it all the time)… I don’t see the link between being sexy and talking about her family…

Seriously, CB!!! You are no longer objective when it comes to AJ… Usually, you are not biased… Usually, you would say “ok it’s boring that she always talk about it”, but you would also say “well she is asked about it” “it’s maybe a way to protect her familly from pap” etc…

    WHat happened to you????

  3. SolitaryAngel says:

@ Kim: I can deal with all your asinine comments except one: the “crocodile tears for dead mother”. How DARE you make light of the loss of ANYONE’S mother?! That crosses a line—-and brands you as a person who obviously doesn’t understand or deserve a mother’s love. B*tch. 😯

  4. Mia says:

    Ha.Ha.

This is how I’m going to save 10 bux.

  5. Kim says:

Lilou, Angelina happened. She went and admitted that after all she did ‘fall in love’ with Brad when they were still married. Most people who gave her the benefit of doubt are starting seeing her for the liar and vampire that she is, I guess CB is not different.

  6. Mairead says:

I thought CB and Ceilidh were two different people? 😐

Anyway, I think Aaron Eckhart is a good actor and is always solid in whatever he’s in. I might even watch Travelling πŸ˜‰ But I’m on record as saying I’d prefer to see someone else in the Catwoman role too, only because AJ is the obvious choice and it would be more interesting with someone less obvious.

  7. goons says:

Does anyone or is it me alone who thinks that angie looks like the cat woman in costume.. i see the resemblence and infact angie does not need to a get a costume for the part, she can just show up as herself and that would be perfect.. ha ha ha… πŸ˜†

  8. geronimo says:

I’m also on record as being anti-AJ as Catwoman for similar reasons, but what really irks and pisses me off most here is Eckhart giving BO records as a reason for AJ to have the role. Just about sums up the dearth of creativity in contemporary HW film-making.

Lilou – I don’t agree with everything you say but I second the pissy tone evident in so many of the recent J-P stories on here. Bit lame, to be honest. Michael K at least takes the piss out of them in a funny and affectionate way.

  9. Lauri says:

she would be absolutely perfect in the role. She has the look, and can certainly play sexy and seductive.

And Kim, the comment about the crocodile tears only shows what an ugly person you are inside. Dislike AJ all you want, but to mock someone for grieving over the loss their mother? Only a hate filled person would say something so nasty.

  10. DD says:

hehe, nice imagery on the earth mother. Looks like Aaron might have a crush on AJ, Brad Pitt better watch it. her image has lost its sexiness with all the brad love envelops me crap, but she’s still a sexy lady if I forget about her personal life.

  11. vdantev says:

The usual AJ critics above can shove a lump of coal up their butts and crap a diamond for me. I hope she gets the part just to spite you mouth-breathing lifeless psuedo-stalkers.

  12. elisha says:

I’m not a big Ang fan. I rather dislike her most of the time, actually.

BUT I can SO see her as Catwoman. I actually can’t picture anyone else doing it.

BUT again… I thought she was going to be taking a “break” for a while (or “fade away”). I’d apreciate that; one of the many reasons I dislike her is because of how overexposed she is.

@Kim & Lilou – holy comment rant, Batman!

  13. naive_charm says:

Ugh, again with the useless Catwoman rumour stuff… most likely the character won’t even be in the next movie. I hope not, anyway, because it’s such a silly and obvious thing to do. And puh-leeez, get the idea of AJ playing her out of your head. She’d be a horrible pick.

At least no one’s throwing out LiLo suggestions anymore. That was embarrassing.

  14. ll says:

Lilou – I agree with your comment!
    Lately CB has been bitter
    towards AJ.
I guess they fell for “poor Jen.”

Geronimo – Eckhart sound like he’s being a smartass when he said “…I felt like all of our records that we made would be broken if she did Catwoman.”

  15. daisy424 says:

Kim, your comment about the crocodile tears for her dead mother was cold hearted & in very bad form.
I lost my Mother within months of Angie losing hers and I can relate to her pain.
    Grow up.

  16. Cheyenne says:

I think Angie was made for that part. She would totally own it.

@ Kim: “Crocodile tears for her dead mother”? You are beyond despicable and beneath contempt. How do you feel about Jennifer Aniston referring to her mother as a “disease”?

  17. geronimo says:

Agree, Daisy. My mum died of cancer 3 years ago. Three years later, I still have moments of such blind grief it’s like being hit by a truck. And the tiniest thing can trigger it. To dismiss another person’s grief in such cold, cynical terms is vile.

@II – maybe he was, you could be right, but it still feeds into this moronic ‘style over substance’ evident in so much contemporary HW film-making.

  18. Christina X says:

    Dante, stop f*cking generalizing.

Just because not everyone loves your idol doesn’t mean they’re “dedicated” to stalking her. If I see something worth commenting on or I have an opinion on, I’ll post. I don’t *look* for anything on these three.

You spend just as much time and energy defending her and mocking everyone else’s personal lives because god forbid they don’t like the same celebrities you do.

  19. daisy424 says:

Geronimo, I am sorry to hear of your Mum’s passing.
I have the same ‘moments’ you described and it is debilitating for me also. πŸ˜₯ I hope with time, we are both able to heal. πŸ˜‰

While I do agree with Christina X that we should all be entitled to post our likes and dislikes on celebs with out the fear of being jumped on for our choices, Dante, your comment was funny!

  20. devilgirl says:

Oh Aaron, so sorry, but didn’t you hear, Angie Jo is retired. She is committed to only a few more flicks, then off to being a mom then granma. RIIIIIIIGGGHT!

  21. geronimo says:

Sweet. Thanks Daisy, we’ll get there. x

  22. Kennedy says:

I agree with the comments about Kim. I too lost my mother and that was years ago and I still mourn her. I can hear a song or a poem and totally break down.

Kim you talk about Angelina being evil sounds like the pot calling the kettle black. You seem very jealous and quite honestly filled with hate.

She WAS made for that role. And yes she is SEXY as hell.

Celebitchy I used to love your site too but now your no better than US weekly or Star.

  23. Baholicious says:

You know why up and coming and ‘unknown’ actors have such a hard time finding work *edit: lead roles*? These g-damn blockbusters, that’s why. Multimillion dollar stars hogging up all the roles and being cast solely for their box office draw.

Jolie is overexposed. We might as well just get her face tattooed on the insides of our eyelids and call it a day.

  24. jeannified says:

Please…Angie would STILL own that part! She can be sexy whenever she wants, it doesn’t just “go away” with her! Never!!!

  25. monica says:

crocodile tears my ass…. there is a time and a place and that interview, which had nothing to do with her mother, was NOT the time or the place. think what you want but everyone sees everything from their perspective.

  26. Kaiser says:

    I agree with Lilou’s sentiments.

Also – of course AJ would be a good Catwoman. But Nolan doesn’t go for the obvious. He’ll pick someone no one has even thought of.

  27. aleach says:

lol @ boho. thats the PERFECT idea!! πŸ˜†
im not lovin AJ for the catwoman role. lets go with someone less exposed and little less obvious for a change.

  28. Kate says:

Baholicious – I agree with the overexposure that AJ has going on right now. She would be a great Catwoman, physically as well as how she is known for portraying sexy and dangerous women. BUT this stupid love triangle thing is everywhere and I get a tired feeling whenever I see her name (as well as Brad Pitt and JA), I simply can’t help it. Maybe if all the media coverage cooled down I could happily see her in this role πŸ˜›

  29. Cheyenne says:

No one can blame Aniston, Jolie or Pitt for all the overexposure they are getting now. They are all three of them probably heartily sick of it. But as long as it’s driving the media’s bottom line, expect to see much more of it.

  30. ff says:

For heavens sake, what is she, rent-a-vixen? Find another actress. Jolie as Catwoman would be super cliche.

And I’m not feeling her playing off of Bale’s Batman. So I’d not just say no, I’d say: aw, hells naw!

  31. Ceilidh says:

I was surprised to come in here and find all the comments thinking I was hating on Angelina.

I’m a fan, a big one, actually. And I’m sorry if I used the same term another blogger does, the difference is, I’m assuming, there’s no negative connotation in “earth mother” to me. I think it’s beautiful thing. I’m not dissing Angelina on her image, her life, or anything else, far from it. All I said was that because it’s all I’ve read recently, I don’t as readily see her in the role of Catwoman, a character with overt sexuality. Not for a minute saying Jolie isn’t sexy, it’s just not cartoon sexy anymore. Honestly, I think the role is kind of beneath her at this point.

  32. geronimo says:

Aw come on, ceilidh. While I agree with your take on AJ in this instance, please at least acknowledge the change in tone and position so many of the writers here on CB have taken recently as far as the J-Ps are concerned. Countless posters have noticed it, we can’t all be wrong?

Of course you and the other writers here are entitled to your opinions but all of you who cover J-P stories, all at the same time, all independently deciding that the J-Ps have outstayed their welcome – sorry, no.

  33. vdantev says:

We might as well just get her face tattooed on the insides of our eyelids and call it a day.

Yeah, ’cause we all know she’s kicking down our doors day after day and telling us this stuff, instead of us seeking it out on the blog. πŸ™„

  34. Ceilidh says:

I can only speak for myself, geronimo, and my feelings toward anything Jolie/Pitt related have not changed. I do not feel, nor have I said I felt, that they have outstayed their welcome. If I felt that way, I wouldn’t write about them.

  35. geronimo says:

Ceilidh – ok. I accept that. But that still doesn’t change the fact that the tone towards them on here has changed significantly. Which, as I said, is fine, your call as the writers. What puzzles (and, if I’m honest, irritates) me is the refusal to acknowledge it.

  36. aleach says:

@dante why do you feel the need to make a nasty remark to other posters comments all the time?
    just wondering??

  37. Kristin says:

Aleach, don’t bother asking. He insults just about everyone for no reason.

  38. Blah blah blah says:

    Ugh, please no.

That choice is so UNinspired. So predictable. So media-pandering.

The only memorable roles Angelina does are sexy or mentally unstable ones. Therefore it’s really not all that special or interesting to imagine her in this one, and honestly I think it would be a little tarnishing. They could pick someone a little less overexposed.

  39. vdantev says:

Aleach, don’t bother asking. He insults just about everyone for no reason.

So says someone who made the mistake of drawing my fire more than once and didn’t learn from the experience. It’s only insulting if you take it seriously enough to be offended by sarcasm. 80% of the time it’s meant in jest, to point out some error in someone’s thinking. The rest is because people need a good whack on the nose to get their brains working sometimes.

  40. aleach says:

ya i wasnt sure if it was all sarcasm or what. i was just wondering. its hard to really “read” people on here, yknow.
i think about writting something sarcastic sometimes but dont want to come off as a bitch, even though i might anyways haha. whatev.
thanks for clearing it up, yo.

  41. Kristin says:

LMAO, great comment. You really showed me.

  42. daisy424 says:

    πŸ˜€ Dante πŸ˜€

  43. Tanille says:

the “crocodile tears” thing is so heartless and bitterly cold. My mom passed 2 months after Angie’s , and sometimes emotions just overcome you, it doesn’t matter whether your alone or in a room of a 1000 people. Its very difficult to lose a parent especially one you were really close too.

  44. Yourself says:

She would be such a wrong pick for the movie. Who knows how far low her popularity will have sunk by 2010. She might as well ruin the movie. She could be going through a bitter split with Pitt which would eclipse the whole movie. Nolan should visit blogs before he makes this pick.

As for the tone changing on this site, it was inevitable. Angelina is not one of those people you can like forever. I won’t be surprised if some of her fans turn on her eventually. I used to actually like her when she adopted Maddox and was a single mother. To me she was a classic example that we can all change. I didn’t even hate her when she run away with Brad Pitt, she is after all not the first person to do so. Marriages end every day.

But her subsequent conduct, passive aggression towards Jen, rub it in interviews, media manipulation, in your face persona and over exposure has really made her the person I can’t stand the most in the whole wide world. Her, Bush and Pitt. They are so annoying.

Their fans too, defending all the wrongs she does, condescending and always finding excuses for her. I just switch channels when I find her on screen. She makes me go Grrrrrrrr every time I see her. I hope she means it and she fades away. In any case, I am done watching any movie she is in.

  45. vdantev says:

It’ s rarely my intent to truly offend, but I do go too far at times. Me sorry for that πŸ™

  46. Celebitchy says:

You guys are right I have been pretty harsh to Angelina lately, but it’s mostly been me and you can’t blame Ceilidh for it as she had a different intent with this story, as she explained. I think I did explain how and when my impression changed of her though, and it was in this post:
    http://www.celebitchy.com/22047/angelina_jolie_just_keeps_talking_about_how_great_her_life_is/

We all value our readers, especially the regular commenters, and I understand that a lot of you are Angelina fans and that your opinion didn’t change as abruptly as mine did. I think what happened is that in the past couple of weeks I was going through a rough time and it just seemed like Angelina was always there blathering on, so I kind of projected that onto her. Was it fair? Probably not, as you’re pointing out.

What I’ll do is strive to keep an open mind and to be more even and less biased in my writing. It’s something all of the writers here strive for but it’s not always easily attained, and of course we have opinions. My style is usually a lot more balanced and I’ve lost that as I’ve been under some stress.

Thank you for hanging in there with us and continuing to comment and read the site.

    πŸ™‚

  47. geronimo says:

Appreciate your comment, CB, we’re all human and it WAS a bit of an overload. But thanks for acknowledging the tone thing cos it was bugging the crap out of me! 8)

  48. Little Hutt says:

Aaron, I love you, but please no more “Angelina Jolie as Catwoman” talk. Please.
We need someone less known, less obvious, or else Catwoman will just disappear behind the actress herself. Angelina Jolie is just everywhere, I’m a bit tired of her.

  49. Yourself says:

CB don’t let any one bully you. How come the same people do not complain when you are hard on JA and uyou even gloss over Angelina giving her son knives like it is OK? Most of us may be run off the site if you return to that sycomphatic Jolie worshipping. Notice how many more readers you got as a result of your changed tone.

  50. Leah says:

I think she’s got the look for Catwoman, but I think they need more of a no-name actress.

Everyone would have a hard time seeing “Catwoman” and would just see Jolie in a costume, so that could disrupt things.

UNLESS she could get into character as seamlessly as Heath Ledger did, that is. THEN it might work.

  51. hello says:

Ahh…I love the Nolan series of Batman, and she seems too obvious for him to choose. I also think that she’s not that great of an actress…I’ve had that argument on here before though, so let’s not start it again.

I really want it to be a no-name girl who just owns it though. I do hope that they don’t do Catwoman in the next movie though. Seems predictable.
