No one can sing this song better than Adele..it’s about her life so it is meaningless when sang by other people. Sorry Celine, you’re good but Adele owns this song and can kick anybody’s a$$!!

    • Choupette says:

Get a grip. Nowhere does it say Celine is stealing “Rolling In The Deep”, telling anyone it’s about her own life, or robbing Adele in any way. If that were the case then you should stop singing it in the shower and your car. She’s singing it because she likes it, AND she’s doing an excellent job. Unlike many singers who sing signature songs of artists, Celine isn’t mutilating the hell out of it. May as well say no one should never, ever, ever, never sing “My Heart Will Go On” except Celine.

Kill me now if “Glee” is the standard we are trying to aspire to in the world of song. Kill. Me. Now.

      • Samgirl says:

I do have to admit I cried when Rachel Berry sang “It’s All Coming Back.” And yes, I am embarassed that Glee made me cry. But, you can’t deny…the b*tch killed it.

The Celine version was very good. Better than I thought it would be.

      • Layale says:

Well said! I’m not a Celine fan at all, but she did a good job. And it’s obvious she’s honoring Adele, not trying to be her or steal anything from her.

      • Aud says:

        Right on.

    • RocketMerry says:

Well, the quality of the registration is not excellent, but it seems to me that Celine did a good job.
It’s a cover, so it’s an homage. I thought it was cute and flattering to Adele, since it was well executed.
Everyone is covering this song, right now (even Linkin’Park, and it’s not their musical genre): that’s the sign of an iconic song that will last in time. Icons will always survive covers.

Side note: WTH is that hair, Joel Madden?! Well, actually… kinda liking it. Damn it, now I decidedly like it. Ok, fine, I love it. Man, I’m easily convinced.

Can’t we just applaud these women for their awesome vocal range; rather than compartmentalizing by their talent and trying to determine who did it better? This “ranking” system has gotta stop! (in all things–bodies, faces, aging, etc)

Let’s face it guys n’ gals, they probably all sang it better than any of us could 😉

  2. Tillie says:

I really like Celine’s version too. Adele is the greatest, since it’s her song and she is just awesome, but Celine does a great cover 🙂

  3. Maguita says:

    Glenn Beck. Bristol Palin.

The shitty day goes on, and on. Who watches that delusional hypocritical crap?

Next up, it’ll be raining insects, and blood would be in our water.

  4. NerdMomma says:

Haha I was scared to press play. After all these years, Celine Dion still has a wonderful voice. Nice to hear one talented lady covering another talented lady and giving respect. What a contrast to the Gaga/Madge story earlier today 🙂

  5. Rita says:

I think Celine doing one of Adele’s signature songs is like Adele singing “My Heart Will Go ON”. These songs are performed by a particular artist for a reason. No one can match the “musty character” nor the believability in Adele’s voice in singing “Rolling in the deep”.

Having said that, Celine does a very good job with the song. I was particularly pleased with the raspy voice she put into emphasizing the lyrics. Usually when Celine gets “raspy”, it seems a bit of a reach for her or put-on but kudos to her here.

If Celine reads this, I want her to know that I always adore her and my offer to surrogate her next set of twins still stands.

Also, if you read this, Celine could you post a comment concerning the rhubarb pie I sent you last year. The UPS guy said he has no record of it so I’m suspicious a bunch of UPS drivers got to it in a lunch room.

  6. Nev says:

    WORK NAOMI!!!!!!

    go on girl!!

    show them how it’s done.

  7. Sabrine says:

It’s not like she’s trying to do a better job of the song. It’s a tribute to Adele, and a great compliment to her. Adele will be very pleased and likely touched to know Celine did her song.

  8. luls says:

ITS AMAZING! IM PLEASANTLY SURPRISED! WOW! Go Celine! 🙂

  9. LoL says:

Celine has a way better voice than Adele and the cover proves it.

    • Mourning the Death of Music says:

Their voices are in two different categories and honestly can’t be compared.

I think it’s more a matter of preference as to which voice you like better.

I have no doubt that Celine has more power in her voice and probably can has more range and reach octaves that Adele couldn’t. But then again, there’s a level of depth and soul in Adele’s voice that Celine can’t obtain, regardless of how hard she tries to belt out a song.

  10. Katie says:

Celine did a good job. I like the smokiness of adele’s voice for this song better but Celine actually can sing. And I like her covering good songs better than singing her own sappy weirdness.

  11. LucyOriginal says:

    I really liked Celine’s performance.

  12. Anne says:

You can practically touch Adele’s anguish in her version of the song, but no doubt Celine Dion can sing her ass off. Her voice is truly amazing.

  13. birdie says:

Adele sings it with her heart and you can hear her emotion. Everybody else with their pretty voices will only sing it, never lived it like Adele.

  14. kibbles says:

Celine can make any song sound good. There is no contest. I like Adele’s version because it is uniquely hers and always will be, but Celine still has the stronger voice.

  15. Amanda G says:

Am I the only one who doesn’t like Celine’s voice? I don’t like the tone. It’s nasally. She certainly has a powerful voice, but I don’t think it’s a good voice…

  16. Lake Mom says:

I was prepared to hate this because I adore Adele and can barely tolerate Celine but I have to admit, it wasn’t horrible.

  17. Lola says:

I will admit it — I love Celine Dion. I can’t help it and apologize for my short coming…(LOL)

Celine’s cover of “Rolling in the Deep” is very very good…I am sure Adele would be happy with it as well!

    Celine and Adele are amazing!

  18. Lisa says:

Of course it isn’t horrible! Regardless of what you think of her, Celine can sing her ass off. Few covers exceed or match the original, so I don’t know why people get picky beyond the logistics of hitting the correct notes. All I ask is that the cover doesn’t mangle the original, and she doesn’t.

    • Mourning the Death of Music says:

For me, Johnny Cash’s cover of Hurt (Nine Inch Nails) has taken that song to levels it would have otherwise never reached.

      • Lisa says:

Oh, yes! Johnny Cash is always the exception to the rule. 🙂 Amazing cover and video.

  19. LondonParis says:

Um, are we surprised that Celine Dion singing sounds good?

    • Wilma says:

Um, yeah, I was for a bit. I told my husband and he said ‘well, that’s going to be crap’, then we played it and had to eat our words. She sounds really good. I guess that’s the difference genre makes, hearing a song that you actually like makes a difference.

  20. kayla says:

Yeah, I’m surprised that it’s a surprise that Celine Dione can sing. Like.. DUH.

  21. lucy2 says:

Not a bad cover of the song, no surprise since Celine has an amazing voice. But I’m tired of people covering that song, as no one ever comes close to the way Adele does it.

  22. stinky says:

Celine thought she had a lock on wailing out a song – of course she had to stick her snoot in it. gag me.

  23. Jen says:

She’s not trying to out-do Adele, she’s paying tribute.

  24. some bitch says:

That was a kick ass cover!!

  25. hina says:

Celine can sing anything but hasn’t she had enough success. I suppose human nature is such that we always want more. Must say her cover is very good.

  26. Shazza27 says:

Let’s not now start another battle between two very talented artists whom just happen to be female also…& why do people tend to forget the fact that Celine although a bit campy yes, has indeed a very beautiful voice…I guess it’s because she doesn’t quite fit into the mould of hotness that society now deems has to be present for one to carry any talent or as in the case of many *Stars* today, lack there of.

  27. lisa says:

    Celine can sing.

And really not many songs are that precious that they can’t be covered.

  28. Adrien says:

I have a soft spot for Celine. I know people never forgave her for “My Heart will go on” and for ruining AC/Dc’s “You shook me all night” but she’s a terrific live performer. You can never accuse her of phoning in.

  29. EmmaStoneWannabe says:

I love how the link says: “Farty McDonalds went to the gym again.,” and I was like, ‘what’s Jess’s workout getup this time?’ before clicking on the link to know it was her being referenced like that. Of course lol

  30. stinky says:

    “don’t you…. forget about me”

  31. JustBored says:

Celine Dion is a wonderful singer, one of the best. I am not surprised at all. she killed it!

  32. Francesca says:

NO. She is not allowed to suck off of Adele. Biach, please! We all know you can sing but why steal A’s moment.

It reminds me of when Leanne Rimes put out that Trisha Yearwood song, minutes after Trisha released it. Only made it bad for Leanne…

    • Lisa says:

Um, how is this stealing her moment? She didn’t exactly come out and upstage her during her own concert.

  33. Aubra says:

Lord has mercy quit cryin’!! It’s Adele’s song, we know! Adele is good, but not THAT good, put her against the likes of Celine when Celine was setting chart record back when the standards were higher in the 90s, and old girl aint winnin’…
