Samantha Ronson on Paris Hilton’s DJ career: “it insults people that work hard at it.”

Lindsay Lohan’s ex Samantha Ronson may not be able to carry a tune to save her life, but she’s built a reputation as a decent celebrity DJ, helped in no small part by her association with Lohan, her famous music producer brother, and her twin sister, fashion designer Charlotte Ronson. I’m not saying that Sam didn’t build a career in her own right, just that she surely benefited from her connections.

Anyway Sam is getting some mild competition lately from Paris Hilton, who mixed a DJ set at the San Paulo Music Festival in Brazil that was widely panned and mocked. Paris claimed in an interview with Hello! that she was qualified to be a DJ since she’s “been training every day for six to eight hours for the past year” and traveled around with her ex-boyfriend, DJ Afrojack, while he was working. Well Sam disputes that. A paparazzo caught up with her (video is here) and asked her about Paris’ latest career move and Sam basically said that Paris isn’t qualified:

That whole sh*t with her is just like ‘oh, come on man, like she’s tried everything now. Put some quality the sh*t you do, put some effort into it. Listen, if you do the work, it will speak for yourself. If you’re going to be like ‘oh I’m just going to figure out how I’m going to make some money this week,’ it just insults the people that work really hard at it.

It’s me calling myself a doctor from like reading WebMD twice.”

I don’t disagree with her, I don’t think Paris is particularly qualified to be a DJ. I don’t think Paris is qualified to be a singer, either, but she knows how to compensate for her weaknesses, unlike Sam. At least Paris knows that she needs to use autotune and lipsync her music instead of trying to sing live. Plus, I do think that Paris works hard. She works hard at picking outfits, shaking her ass, making sure that the paparazzi know her whereabouts at all time, and practicing her duck face in the mirror.

Do you think that Sam dislikes Paris because Lohan and Paris have a longstanding feud? (See: Firecrotch incident.) As if there aren’t countless other reasons to dislike Paris.

Paris Hilton’s 15 minutes was up for quite a while now, please let’s not have a resurgence. I like Sam Ronson, yea, she looks greasy and can be mistaken for a homeless crackhead sometimes, but she seems naturally cool.

    • Maguita says:

Actually, Paris Hilton’s 15 minutes almost turned into 15 YEARS.

Paris Hilton unfortunately holds the sole responsibility of changing the face of famedom. She gave whoredom a new breath, and most importantly, gave the paparazzi more access and notoriety and made it into a career, an art form.

And whatever you think of Paris, whether she worked 6 hours a day truly spinning records, or she was on her knees “spinning” dudes, even if she at first gets jobs based on name recognition, any DJ would tell you, if you don’t satisfy your audience, they will boo you and would stop attending your shows.

Sam is being a sour puss. I agree with the author here, Sam Ranson had gotten her recognition from tagging Lindsay along to her gigs. And at the time, people were more interested in watching Lindsay pick fights first, and dance to Sam’s music second.

      • Cherry says:

Nicely put, Maguita. I agree 100%. It’s silly to claim Paris’ ’15 minutes’ are up. They should have been, but they aren’t and unfortunately, it looks like they never will be.

      • Maguita says:

        @Cherry,

When some were able to stretch their 15 minutes of famewhoring into years, it is unfortunately time to stop counting the minutes and let go.

Like for the Kardashians. No matter how much I detest those people, and how often the thought the sound of their nasal voices makes want to hurl, they are here. Still.

We are beyond the 16th minute of famewhoring.

And as for Paris, the goodbye-don’t-let-the-door-hit-you-on-your-way-out party balloons have long deflated.

        Reality-check is a b-tch.

    • Gia says:

Sam’s just pissed because by Paris taking a stab at DJing, it just proves that any moron can do it. It doesn’t require talent, at all. As if she’s the first person to get someone else to fix her set for her. So many models DJ now it’s just embarrassing…

  2. the original bellaluna says:

Why does SamRo always look like an angsty, angry teen-age boy? (Or is it just me?)

    • Kimbob says:

Hey bellaluna! No, it’s not just you. My very same impression.

Don’t like Samantha, myself. I mean, come on, like she didn’t “benefit” w/her association w/Ms. Toxicity…oh puhleez!

Never did like her sour face/sourpuss expressions. Doesn’t endear me to her AT ALL!

      • Rhea says:

I never heard it myself if Ronson is truly a good DJ/not. But I think that a respectable and decent DJ wouldn’t want to get involved with Lohan. They would work hard and prefer to be famous on their own hard work.

And to be honest, I wouldn’t know anything about her if it’s not because of her past with Lohan. So when she complained about Hilton and her DJ career as an insult for the people who REALLY work hard for that, well that’s true. But is it an insult also for her?? Not really… 😛

      • the original bellaluna says:

Hi Kimbob! She’s more of an “enduring” thing to me than “endearing.”

      • Rumorhasit says:

I just can’t with her….UGH…isn’t she in her 30’s or something…unattractively trying to cling to her youth as a disenfranchised teenage boy. Grow the eff up, and act your age.
I wanted to like her when she was with The TRAINWRECK that is Lilo, hoping she was the sane, voice of reason, attempting to bring Lohan back to the light of the real world. But I was wrong.
Anything she has to say, whatever she thinks, loses its validity, with those expressions/looks.

    • TheOriginalTiffany says:

      Nope, not just you.

      Gonna get wrinkles like that!

    • Jillian says:

Her skin looks awful and it shows she doesn’t take very good care of herself.

    • gg says:

She makes a great Jughead from Archie Comics. He was always pulling the “ich” face.

She really needs to stoppit with the face and grow up, bra.

      • Veruca says:

Sorry. Her “tough, cool” look always screams “I’m painfully constipated!” to me.

        Not a pretty sight…

    • skuddles says:

I agree she looks like an angry teen bella … makes me want to smack that miserable scowl right off her face. I mean how many times has she had her pic taken?? She should be used to it, grow up already!

But she’s totally right about Parasite being an affront to real DJ’s everywhere.

      • JenD says:

I think she’s not scowling because she’s having her picture taken. I think that scowl is her schtick. And it’s annoying.

    • Elizabeth says:

Sam always makes that angst-y face and I hate it! What is she – 30 now? Time to move on. But I agree with her comment on Paris’ career-of-the-day – it’s an insult to people who work for a living doing this.

    • Rin says:

Too many people associated with her do hard drugs. She just looks like an angry person all the time.

And …hun…DJ’ing isn’t a skill like being a doctor. It’s not that hard anymore. Back in the day of records…harder.

    • Crazy Charlize says:

If Bowie and Jagger mated, you’d get this thing.

  3. Skins says:

I’m sure it takes some kind of massive talent to be a DJ

    • amoi says:

im sensing sarcasm so i’d like to say…it does take MAJOR talent to be a non-itunes pre-mixed DJ…have you ever seen a real DJ on turntables?

    • kay says:

      More than you might think.

If you’ve ever been in a bar with a crappy DJ, you’d know.

I’ve been in some with fantastic DJ’s, who read the mood of the people and carry you through a journey, basically, through the night. Great memories.

    • normades says:

To be a good one, yes.

    • gg says:

I think she should stick to her own talent and not knock other people trying to get a talent since when she tried to be a singer, it was a no-go.

    • Crystalline says:

Surprisingly, yes. I went to Electric Zoo a few years ago and now whenever I see mediocre DJs (I think Joe Letz’s recent DJing foray, yuck. He has no sense of crowd building), the difference is easy to tell. These DJs don’t need to dance around, sing, do things for attention–they can build up a crowd with the music and that is it. It isn’t just slapping on itunes and pretending you are working.

    • Onyx XV says:

No doubt! I’m sure it requires a Doctorate from Harvard.

    • Mira says:

Yes, DJ-ing requires talent, continuous training, keeping up with the different trends in music – from underground music to house – reading the audience, keeping them interested for an entire night etc. It is a skill! You can easily identify a bad/mediocre DJ from a good one.

  4. cocoAngel says:

like she’s a real dj, poser!

  5. amoi says:

yes, Paris…31 is too damn old to be in the club as a novice DJ with a bedazzled microphone. girl, sit down.

  6. Vic Kelley says:

Like it or not Ms. Hilton is a real celebrity. The Ronson creature is not. Its only claim to fame is that it was a friend of whatshername. I am not disrespecting Ronson I actually pity it as it is a very unfortunate looking person.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

Yeah you’re definitely not disrespecting her by calling her “it”.

    • Jules says:

You don’t want to disrespect Ronson, but you address her as a ‘creature’ and call her ‘it’ 3 times? Wow, you are a real humanitarian aren’t you? Oh, let’s see a photo of you, so we can critique your looks.

    • Quinn says:

Yeah, Charles Manson is a “celebrity” also.

  7. TheOriginalKitten says:

It always surprises me when people act like DJing doesn’t take a level of talent. Yeah, it’s not brain surgery but to be a solid DJ you have to have a great ear and an ability to transition between songs and work the crowd, which is not easy, which basically eliminates any possible DJing career for Paris Hilton.

    • Djinn says:

Agree, being a good DJ, while not brain surgery does take some skill. Ronson however is a FAMOUS DJ not a GOOD one. She plays for rich kids parties, for people who just want background noise to help the coke go down. She gets those gigs because of her connections/past connections and her resultant notoriety. No-one even remotely interested in music would describe her in terms much different to those she used to slag Hilton’s famewhoring.

  8. lower-case deb says:

Pippa Middleton?! is that you?!! can’t recognize you under those eyeliners

  9. Ann says:

The scowl pose looks SO stupid.

    • gg says:

It is pretty juvenile. And grossly unattractive.

      • Hannah says:

It? Whats with the homophobic comments here? Its really distasteful. I thought celebitchy had a policy against homophobia?

      • TheOriginalTiffany says:

Put down the pipe and walk away. Where on earth did homophobia come in to play?
Considering a person coming here with that tude would be eviscerated, you are way off base.

No one said anything about her sexual preference and no one cares. They are commenting that her attitude stinks and she is not a good DJ.

Try to stir the homophobic pot on a site that supports that view, you my dear are on the wrong site for that.

Celebitctchy, snark and fun welcomed, homophobia not.

      • gg says:

@Hannah: Say what??? “It” meaning the scowling pose. The pose has no gender. I was not calling her an it. And I love gay people so shut it.

And thank you, Tiffany. cheers to you.

        Jeers to you, Hannah. 😛

  10. Miffy says:

Aren’t Samantha Ronson’s comments null and void? I thought it was a given that Paris Hilton was an insult to anyone who worked hard at anything, ever.

  11. Aussie girl says:

Sam Ro looks like she is on hard drugs! And paris as chelsea handerly said looks like a “blow up doll with a lazy eye”. 😜

  12. alison8701 says:

i know I’m in the minority, but I actually don’t mind Paris Hilton. I watched her BFF thing show (Oh, whatever! like you guys don’t watch some crap too) and she was actually really sweet through out the whole show. When she’s not being a scripted valley girl using baby talk, she’s actually quite nice and tolerable.

And she really was the first to be famous for nothing and has made quite a career out of it, for better or for worse.

I know people hate her, but I don’t think she’s a bad person and worthy of all this vitriol.

    • Bec says:

Paris has a serious drug an alcohol prob.
I don’t think she’s totally worthy of the vitriol aimed at her either but when you do that many drugs you can act so stupid that you become a target even if you don’t deserve it.

I wish she’d take that money and go to college (or hire a tutor to get a degree). I don’t even think she has her GED. That would be the ultimate PR makeover! Until then she is playing into the hands of those who hate her.

  13. Rhiley says:

I can smell Sam Ronson through my computer. Smells like stale cigarettes, french fries, whiskey, and CK1.

  14. Dee Cee says:

    Zzzzzzz

  15. Little Darling says:

It’s my belief that Sam is very cool, very tolerant and an excellent musician. I know she was dating LL but she also showed unwavering support for her (LL) at a time when not even her family was around or supporting her. She has studied with some of the musical greats and is far more talented than her busted tv performance a few months back. I’ve seen many interviews with her and she is very funny and very “normal” and grounded. She has an awesome sense of herself and doesn’t need to be the “celebrity”. I think she’s just stating the obvious re:Paris….pick a profession, work hard and excel at it. Pretty basic. To change and jump around and call yourself “that” really does mock the people who have dedicated their time for it. Sam has never tried to be anything else than what she is. I like that about her. I find her refreshing in a world of inflated egos. However, new pic face PLEASE!!! That one she uses is just so unflattering, and at this age, silly. How hard is it to just close mouthed smile? Instead of scowling?

    • jwoolman says:

I like Sam, too. Lohan was a liability, not an asset- had to be banned from at least one club while they were together because of her nonsense. Sam was already well paid for her work and well known in her fields (also as a song writer). She visited Lindsay in jail and rehab and in the halfway house before jail even though they were no longer a couple. She seems comfortable in her own skin and reasonably mellow. Lindsay must find her a very calming presence, although Sam must have trouble dealing with Lindsay’s severe anger issues and unpredictability. Sam actually wasn’t being mean about Paris Hilton- she was saying something constructive.

  16. Shelly says:

Once upon a time I thought that DJing was easy and took no skill. That was until I heard some terrible DJs out at clubs. I then grew to appreciate a great DJ. It’s way more than just playing great songs or songs you like. It has to do with the flow of the songs and keeping the crowd pumped up. I agree with Sam. It takes skill and knowing your audience. Paris has no skills and doesn’t really connect with anyone on a real level, so I don’t see how she’ll be a good DJ.

  17. Darcy P. says:

Has anyone else noticed in the first photo with Paris on the beach- it seems like the guy a few yards behind her is holding her purse? Which is resting against her hip? And her hand is up like she’s holding a strap of a purse, but there’s no strap in the photo?

Yes, I choose to focus on this rather than the story! 🙂

  18. Sirsnarksalot says:

Pot meet kettle. Paris and Ronson are only wealthy and famous because of their last names and in Sam’s case her father and later siblings. With an iPod and and iMac any one can seem like a half decent DJ. It’s like bragging about how well you make a PB and J. Get over yourself And get a new facial expression.

  19. Lucy2 says:

I don’t care for Sam and her scowling, but I get what she’s saying. It’s frustrating to work at something and then watch a celeb stroll in and get a ton of attention for it. Like other celebs who fancy themselves fasion designers, architects, doctors- the people who really do those jobs study and work to build a career.

  20. iseepinkelefants says:

Pot meet kettle? DJing also isn’t pressing play on your ipod. SamRo got famous because of Lohan but also because they couldn’t afford her brother. She’s constantly passing off on other people’s names.

    • Bev says:

Thats bullshit. Sam Ronson was working for MTV in 2001. Way before Lohan became the big star. She may not have been famous to a mainstream audience but she was doing well as a dj long before Lohan. She is no different from DJ AM a dj who worked for many years. Gained mainstream fame when he dated Nicole Richie. Anyway Sam is spot on.

  21. Aubra says:

So sick of that smirk she makes

As for DJing, I agree, it’s unfortunate that anyone with a famous relative, mac computer and set of headphones can be a DJ

  22. Jayna says:

Samantha Ronson put in the time and effort. Connections help a little, but then it’s if you can take the ball and effort. Otherwise, every star’s kid would be successful going into the biz and it’s just not true.

  23. Patricia says:

It’s sad she even bothered to go off on Paris. That’s a bit like shooting fish in a barrel at this point. She should have just made her goofy face and walked off. Not the brightest girl. Surprise surprise.

  24. Kim says:

Jealous much Sam? Sams heydey as a DJ (she always sucked & was considered a joke anyhow)is over & she is jealous Paris gets jobs. Sam is a real piece of work. She wouldnt be where she is if not for her family name.

  25. audrey says:

Those 2 header pix of SamRo and Bieber… they totally look like the same person..

  26. Katy says:

She always looks like a sourpuss!!

  27. RobN says:

Why do I have the feeling that when she used WebMD twice, it was to look up alcohol poisoning and what to do when somebody mixes vodka with crack?

  28. Alicia says:

I dj and sure takes some skill. I am not a fan of Paris but I feel that if she wants to give it a try she should, why not? As for some people saying that ” she is 32″ it’s not like she is over the hill or anything.

  29. Jovia says:

Sam played right into Paris’ original and diabolical fame game plan! LOL

  30. Shoe_lover says:

Sam is a hypocrite. isnt she the one that plugs her ipod in and calls it “being a DJ”

    • Hayden says:

SamRon uses the same equipment as everyone else. Serato, computer and turntables. No one uses only records these days. Not Skrillex, not Deadmau, certainly not Tiesto. I am not a fan of SamRon but she has been a dj for at least a decade. She is decent, hardworking and chill. it seems like all Paris ever does is wake up and say today I want to be a dj. Then a week later she plays at what seems to be a huge venue in Brazil.

  31. Lukas says:

I am sorry Celebitchy! Say what you like about sam but on this one she is right. But this DJing thing is nothing by a desperate stunt by Paris. Her own boyfriend Afrojack says her set is prerecorded. He basically said the same thing as Ronson, that paris djing is an insult to real djs and that she should at least work at it before she does gigs.

Deadmau5 said Paris dj is the acopolyse. So it seems to me sam was mild critic in comparison.
And since you are having a go at other djs. No one starts at a big music festival like paris, all of the above mentioned started in smaller clubs and worked themeselves.
Read the reviews from her show and you will find that people said she had someone else do the technical bit for her. I.e turn the knobs….

  32. Petey says:

This is what you are defending CB??

    Paris djing

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kv-EnsyI5ns&feature=player_embedded

Hahhahahaha!! I had the biggest laugh ever!! Everyone is standing still, its like a crappy dj at prom in a small town. Comedy! Hahaha!!

  33. Moshe says:

Sam is right! Paris tried her hand at acting, singing and is now a DJ. She doesnst appear to have put any effort into any of it.She makes a mockery out of any profession she tries her hand at.

Paris & Nicky were on Oprah w/ moms years ago, where they admitted that neither one of them knew how to use a washing machine. seriously.

Afrojack: Paris Hilton Sucks As A DJ, Has No Skill!

Paris Hilton debuted her deejaying skills at the Pop Music Festival in Brazil last weekend, and ex beau DJ Afrojack is not happy about it.
The world famous DJ voiced his disappointment in the hotel heiress’ new career venture during an interview with Sirius XM radio station BPM, saying he was “pissed off” about it while revealing that her set was pre-recorded.

“As everybody knows, I have been working on some tracks with Paris a while ago, but her trying to become a DJ was a complete surprise to me. Then I saw the video and I think this proves once and for all that EDM [Electric Dance Music] is all about skills and quality. It is simply not possible to become a good DJ unless you put lots of hard work and years of sweat in it. I’m afraid Paris underestimated this.”

The Dutch music artist vented that being a DJ takes a lot of talent and dedication, something he suggests Hilton doesn’t have. “I think it’s really important that if you seriously want to go in front of a crowd and DJ, you actually take the time to practice becoming a DJ. It’s hard work, you know – as a lot of people say, it’s not just pressing play. You have to know how the laptop programs or CDJs work, you have to know what the equalizer is, what the effects are. You can’t just pitch your flanger up and down and wave a flag.”

    http://rumorfix.com/2012/07/afrojack-paris-hilton-sucks-as-a-dj-has-no-skill/

  35. Seagulls says:

Did she liken DJing to practicing medicine? I couldn’t do either, but I’ve got to say that I think medicine is a tink more difficult.

    • the original bellaluna says:

Seagulls – Yes. How many neurosurgeons have you overheard saying “Yes, my true dream was to DJ, but it was just SO. HARD! So I went for this instead”?

      • Hannah says:

Perhaps, she shouldn’t have used that example. But i do understand what she is saying. I am a student of acting. I have studied acting for 3 years and will graduate this spring. One of the first things we learned was to respect the craft of acting. We’ve been thought to work hard and respect the audience and ourselves.
It does annoy me when random models and reality stars want to act. They dont take the time out to study acting. I dont think anyone would allow that in any other fields than the arts. I would never dream of walking into a bank and get employment as a financial adviser without the relevant skills.

Deadmau5 Disses Paris Hilton’s DJ Set

    Posted on Jun 26, 2012 @ 12:00AM

By Amber Goodhand – Radar News Editor

Deadmau5 has ripped Paris Hilton on her latest attempt to establish a music career, RadarOnline.com has learned.

A super hot DJ and record producer, Deadmau5 tore into Hilton after she debuted her skills as a DJ in Sao Paulo for Brazil’s Pop Music Festival over the weekend.

“to be fair… the mayans saw this sh*t coming,” Deadmau5 tweeted.

Then he posted a video clip of Paris at her gig on his Facebook page and wrote, “AS I WAS SAYING… its over.”

Known for feuding with fellow celebs, Deadmau5 didn’t stop there.

“thanks afrojack we appreciate it. We really really do. You are the man. Thanks,” he tweeted, making reference to Paris’ on-again-off-again boyfriend DJ Afrojack.

“funnily enough, were on our way to go smash the f**k out of Paris… no, not that one. FRANCE. That one.”

Deadmau5’s attack on Paris spread like wildfire on Facebook and Twitter — and he knew it.

    • sarahtonin says:

Hahaha I love the ‘smash Paris’ quote. Her set was so gd awful. Anyone else would’ve been booed of stage for fracking it up so badly.

She’s pissed a lot of DJs off because they worked their asses off to get where they are, getting paid a pittance and practising for years before they could demand those sorts of fees. I lived it, I saw it myself so I know how frustrating it is for this skank to walk in and try to fake it for a fortune.

Btw, Samantha Ronson doesn’t deserve to speak out though. She’s part of the problem too.

    • Atlanta says:

      That cracked me up!!

Here is a more, DJ JaneBang made a Paris diss track

DJ Paris Hilton Slapped With Diss Track by Jane Bang: “Keep Sucking on That Afrojack D**k”
By Kat Bein Thu., Jul. 5 2012 at 12:00 PM Comments (1)
      Categories: Pop Gossip, Talking Shit

See also “Paris Hilton’s DJ Debut Sucked Balls” and “DJ Paris Hilton Pisses Off Samantha Ronson and Deadmau5.”

Everyone is jumping on the Paris Hilton hate train ever since she wrecked that bitch in Brazil.

The latest hit comes from New York City’s Jane Bang, who just released an electro diss track that calls the heiress out almost as harshly as we did.

In the verse, she goes so far as to call Ms. Hilton an iTunes DJ and tells her to “keep sucking on that Afrojack d-ck.”

The track is called “Put Your Hands Up for the DJs.” The real DJs, that is.

In itself, Bang’s song is nothing amazing, just some generic uhntz-uhntz and post-Skrillex noodling. But the lyrics make this song a gem, going on and on about how Hilton is just a stupid, pretty face, more concerned with the size of her tits than what’s happening behind the decks.

Here are some of our favorite quips from the track:

      -“You aint no DJ/You a fake DJ/You didn’t mix that track/You fucking iTunes’d that.”

-“Get them rhinestones out your headphones/This ain’t Halloween, bitch.”

-“Who you running with?/Your ass couldn’t mix for shit/Better keep on sucking on that Afrojack d-ck/What a prick.”

  37. stinky says:

ronson looks like she needs several glasses of water, and maybe a juice-fast. seriously. is she ill? cuz i don’t wanna be mean… she just(ALWAYS)looks like cigarette smoke to me.

    • sarahtonin says:

Funny you say that. I have been looking at the grey appearance of her skin. I’ve seen that before, on opiate users.

      • jwoolman says:

She has rheumatoid arthritis, that means good days and bad days and painkillers. She might have other chronic problems and might not be quite the recreational druggie people like to assume. Since she’s so young, I assume she got a bad genetic mix. I know I did… 🙂 She seems too coherent too often to be another Cracken.

Carl Cox!!), but she treats what she does with respect . More power to her.Deadmau5 FTW, he’s been around for several years without ever having a miss. again, he has EVERY more reason to bitch.
All the DJs resent this Hilton bimbo.

damn…ronson is one ‘rough’ looking ugh…fema..? uhh…gir?..ummm..chic? ummm…uhh the opposite of a man but definitely not a woman?

It grosses me out to think what her and Lilo got up to under the covers, they’re such a bizarre coupling!?

I can’t stand Paris as much as the next person, sadly, I think her time in the spotlight has waned bigtime but she doesn’t quite know it yet, other reality heiress/divas outshine her. Admittedly, she does have a knack at driving a pretty damn impressive ‘business’ but it’s really Paris paraphenalia for little Asian wanna-be Paris girls!

Sam’s ruff though, just let Master P. spin her thing man!

    • Lily says:

Um erika, Why on earth would you be thinking about what she and lilo did under the covers in some post about DJ’ing and Paris H. You sound like one of those people who see an out gay person and all you think is OMG GAY!!!

  41. Sandiman says:

Right on the money Sam!! Paris is stupid delusional ignorant bitch. All that money and her parents couldnt give her a proper education? That fact that people still pay her for anything at all is disgusting.

  42. The Manolo smells the reality show concept: Celebrity DJ Smackdown!

Yes, Paris Hilton is dumb, but she is essentially correct: how much talent does it really take to push the play button on your iTunes mix so the people in the bubble room in Ibiza can get their funk on?

DJ’ing is to playing music, as running the movie projector is to directing.

  43. GirlyGirl says:

the term “DJ” and “work hard” legally can’t be used in the same sentence.

    • Chris: now with 10% less negativity says:

Yep. I was going to say something along those lines in my last post but I didn’t want it to dilute my attack on Paris.

  44. Xogami says:

    Team Paris

  45. Francesca says:

Paris can be a DJ.Why not? what is the big deal about the gig, it is not like she needs to pass some cognitively challenging exam or earn a special license or be particularly talented. Anyone can be a DJ.I think the only qualification really is having the interest and passion for that sort of job.

  46. Ally says:

A local paper had a great headline for this story:

“Slightly talented celebrity calls out talentless celebrity”

  47. ezra says:

Paris Hilton is a void, that said, Samantha Ronson, according to your reasoning, shouldn’t serious singers be insulted by your lame attempt at belting out a few lame tunes?
Get over yourself lady. By the way, what you do isn’t exactly rocket sciene.

  48. Elle M. says:

Can you say hypocrite? What makes Paris spinning any different than Sam singing? If you read Sam’s latest blog it’s all about critics hating on her branching out to do what she loves, maybe Paris decided to do the same?

Anyway, if yu’ve ever been to an actual club where Sam is spinning, it’s about the same quality as her LIVE with Kelly appearance. HORRIBLE. People do pay big money and have high expectations to go see her and then it’s a big let down. I don’t get what the hype is all about and Sam is not even close to the quality of Afrojack, which has probably been a pretty good mentor to be under. If Sam wants to cry about getting opportunities to do things when you don’t deserve them, she better start by looking in the mirror. Pot meet kettle. I haven’s seen Paris in action, but I’ve seen both the others and if you want to see the difference in quality and performance for yourself, just look on youtube for appearances by both. You get a slacker, smoking texting, crap sounding wannabe that made it big off others names and a professional who can actually spin.
