Just know: I was going to include more people into this post, but then I saw that Jennifer Lopez did a costume change in between the actual Golden Globes ceremony and the after-parties, and that made me stop and say: “Okay, let’s give her what she wants – the spotlight!” So here you go, a post devoted solely to Jennifer Lopez and her poor boy-toy, Casper Smart.
Casper is officially making it through his second awards season! Remember, he was J.Lo’s Oscar date last year, and God knows, she’ll probably be invited to present this year and Casper were be on the Oscar red carpet, rubbing elbows with Jessica Chastain and George Clooney. You’d think that he would have realized the situation by now: he better propose to her fast!! I can’t believe it hasn’t happened yet.
But what’s worse than seeing Casper on the red carpet of the Golden Globes is seeing Jennifer Lopez’s try-hard. Sure, she had a few good moments – like her little bit with Tina Fey, which was super-cute. But mostly it felt like… “Ugh, Jennifer Lopez is trying to get attention.” Maybe it was about Ben Affleck, her ex- lover? I honestly forgot about the Bennifer 1.0 Drama because there should have been more cutaways to J.Lo whenever Ben was mentioned. Then again, I don’t think Jennifer harbors any ill-will towards Ben –he’s the one ashamed of HER, not vice-versa.
Anyway, about the fashion… Jennifer’s wife gown is Zuhair Murad, a label which is increasingly taking cues from Marchesa in The Fug Department. I absolutely hated this gown. I did like the black gown she wore at the after-party, although she looks sort of like a zombie – super-tired, right?

They all tweak now, except for the very young ones. I thought Kate Hudson’s face looked frozen and I always loved her soft look before. Jennifer looks like she was escorted by her son.

I thought the white dress was sooooo desperate looking. She has done the semi-nude thing so many, many times. I thought the dress was ugly, and it seemed as if she chose it simply because it was so revealing.
I thought her make up was AWFUL. The highlighter in the middle of her nose looks like a big silver spot! Her make up was so heavy handed, it looked awful at the actual show…but then it appears she went and put MORE on before the after party! Not even a drag queen would wear that much make-up! BLECH.

Yes, I agree – the bridge of her nose looks smushed in, almost like it’s trying to disappear into the middle of her face.
Perhaps it was just the lighting?? Or maybe something else. I read somewhere once about a ‘botox nose job’ where a skilled doctor can use botox to change the shape of the nose by paralyzing certain surrounding muscles. Maybe it was that.

The white dress was about the exes: Diddy AND Affleck. Imagine the conversation between Affleck and Diddy if they were alone for a good 2 minutes after seeing her in that dress. I was begging, BEGGING for the camera to go to each of them when she was on stage…BEGGING!

I have never seen a Zuhair Murad dress I liked. All their stuff looks so trashy and cheap! What is this outfit? It’s horrible. I saw that last night and thought oh it must be Zuhair Murad! Jennifer does have the body for this sort of dress but I think she’s getting to old for it. There are classier ways to flaunt what you got than this, especially at her age. But then again, class is not really her strength, right?

I agree Lisa… she does have the body for it, but they (J-Lo AND the dresses) are getting old. She seems stuck in the styles she wore years ago, when they were sexy and fresh. Not so much anymore.
On your other point, I kind of don’t think it was awkward for Ben at all. It’s been many years since he made that mistake… and he had his lovely wife there to support him, looking classy and gorgeous.

The first 4 films listed by @Nev were adored by critics and have stood the test of time. The other 4 were box office gold. It’s infortunate that in later years her career has gone the way of Reece Witherspoon but she’s earned her place at the top table.

This so much! I actually think she’s beautiful, and behind the tons of makeup and the stupid poses she has really aged well and she doesn’t look like she has tweaked too much.
She can pull both gowns off well, but I wish she would change it up a bit and move on from the skintight “nude-illusion” dresses.
What really bothers me is this Casper guy. They make a ridiculous couple. Imagine her with someone like Clooney. *sigh* (maybe just my love of Out of Sight speaking, but they were hot together.)

I’m surprised she could bring Casper the Friendly Golddigger with her. Usually, presenters don’t get a plus one for the Globes – only nominees. There’s a space crunch at the venue. Unless she got one of the studios etc that buy a table to give her a spot for him.
