Can’t believe Evan Rachel Wood dated that guy…

    • Alexandra Bananarama says:

Really? I’m more shocked he dated her! He had Dita after all! Evan is pretty, but a big step down.

  2. Green Is Good says:

“Check out Simon LeBon’s amazing ‘stache.”

    ———————————-

He should be tying Mary Pickford to train tracks.

I’d still point my heels to Jesus for him. 🙂

  3. j.eyre says:

kaiser… KAISER! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG *gasp* 1977 Harrison Ford and Simon LeBon in the same post? If you had a shot of Shaun Cassidy in there, Mr. Rochester would be calling the paramedics. My pre-teen self just took a moment to excuse herself (listening to Save A Prayer, of course).

Too bad Zac Efron can’t act, he would be a decent Han perhaps?

That cat post is a riot. My cat is named Loki for a reason; he will probably kill a mouse, drop the torso off on my lawn and take the head – you know, the good part – to some other woman’s house and cough up a hairball on her rug that night. Beautiful furry bastard…

    • mia girl says:

I am major HanSolo fan girl so excuse my joy at this news! And @jeyre…he’s pretty to look at but Efron will not cut it.

It has to be a young (hopefully not too young) actor who can convey subversive wit and still be a charming hero. That, coupled with good looks is what Harrison Ford nailed as Han Solo.

At first thought, I think Garrett Hedlund might be a good option…

      • j.eyre says:

yeah, no Zac won’t, will he? Is James McAvoy to old? Who is young enough but has the swagger?

        Garrett… hmmm…

    • RocketMerry says:

I figured I couldn’t be the only Han lover here! Sigh…Han…

Anywoo, I’m torn: I’d love to watch a whole series of movies only and specifically about Han Solo; on the other hand, though… Han is only and forever Harrison Ford. No one else can take that place. Harrison is a mithycal figure that trines with Han Solo and Indiana Jones. Nobody could ever interfere with that trinity! It would be a sacrilege.

      • KellyinSeattle says:

I have as bad a crush on Han Solo as I did when Star Wars first came out. My friend’s dad even acts/looks like him and I’ve got a crush on him , too~!

    • mia girl says:

@rocket merry – No one can ever replace Harrison Ford. Ever… but a young Han Solo could be such a great character that if casted right (big if), then I’m in.

@jeyre – unfortunately I think McAvoy is just out of the likely age range (he’s 33). Too bad.
But I like where you are going with this…

    • j.eyre says:

Oh who are we kidding – it’s Harrison Ford. Rocket is right, there can be no other.

And for Heaven’s sake – it’s Disney with ILM support – can’t they just digitally de-age Harry and have him play the part? I’d take it.

      • T.Fanty says:

You are both absolutely right. I’ve been thinking all day about who to suggest and there is nobody who can even come close.

(BTW, much as I liked McAvoy in X-men, my biscuit and I would love to have seen him do something a little more sassy, such as a young Han. That would be SO hot)

  4. mia girl says:

Kellan Lutz thinks Kellan Lutz is the PERFECT young Han Solo. Kellan Lutz can outrun Imperial Starships. Kellan Lutz can make the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. Kellan Lutz looks great in vests. This part is made for Kellan Lutz.

  5. bar world land says:

Eeeww why is she the face of anything? She’s got a killer body, but she looks like a Greyhound in the face.

    • Bored suburbanhousewife says:

LOL! She looks worse on a movie screen I remember being so surprised by her appearance in Devil Wears Prada and thinking Emily Blunt is way prettier….how can SHE be the top model in the world???

Oh wait, I just got my SAD on thinking about the way Emily is now degrading herself by hanging out with Aniston and her boy toy and worse, making a movie with Slaveholder Tom Cruise.

      • Christina says:

First Blake Lively, then Brad Pitt, and now Giselle? Chanel used to be the epitome of snooty French chic. Not anymore. Giselle does not have the face for a high-class make-up brand. Great body yes, and great catwalk look. But her face is harsh and borderline horsely looking.

    • MonicaQ says:

All I can think of is Tom Brady when I see her. And then my blood pressure spikes so I really just avoid her like the plague.

    • Bijlee says:

The first phot is flawless…the second one not so much. She’s a great model and I like her personality more and more. Shes well educated, but the woman is far from dumb. I don’t get the Giselle hate.

      • Alexandra Bananarama says:

Well educated? Come on. Jessica Simpson is worth Millions and Millions! You don’t have to be smart to earn money.

Actually Jessica is smarter than her. She knows that her opinion is her opinion and not the word of god handed down so she can tell us how wrong we’ve been in the manner we choose to live our lives.

      • Bijlee says:

Lol I meant to write not well educated. I like Gisele and don’t understand the vitriol thrown at her. Yes she made some pretentious remarks when talking about childbirth and how natural is the best option yadda yadda yadda, but I honestly think she did it because of how c sections are perceived in her HOME country. Women don’t have options regarding birth just a c section and you’re done, so of course she’s going to make natural childbirth more important. If people have a problem with her for that reason then I’m just saying there might be underlying cause. She also apologized in a nice way.

Yes, she is smart about how she’s made her money. She’s at least done it with more class than Simpson. She doesn’t have a reality show, she doesn’t default to desperate attempts to stay relevant, she hasn’t pimped out her baby. She’s relied on her modeling contracts and the occasional two bit film role. And she appears to be in a stable relationship with Tom Brady, a loving mother, and a loving stepmother. Sorry, I like the woman and think she gets judged quite unfairly here.

    • Harriet says:

I like the way she looks, especially because she is unusual. That’s the whole point- variety! Each to their own but I do think similarities to dogs and horses is a bit unkind really.

      • Christina says:

The woman has made hundreds of millions (yes, hundreds of millions) based purely on the way she looks. So I reckon those looks are fair game for ‘unkind’ remarks.

      • Jilli says:

Agree. This woman is uniquely handsome and apparently the cosmetic and fashion industry agree. But like you said, different strokes…..

    • BooBooLaRue says:

      Horsey looking.

    • Carolyn says:

Chanel has lost the plot in terms of branding. Don’t they realise whenever people see Giselle in a print ad all they see is her, not the product? She’s a “visual vampire” – an real marketing term for those people who are so well known that they are more identifiable than the brand they’re supposed to be representing. The 90’s supermodels got to this point (Linda!, Christy!, Helena!, Cindy! etc) which is why the designers banded together and put a stop to it and started hiring unknowns so that people looked at their clothes instead of the girls.

    • delia says:

So true. Between her, other odd looking models like Liberty Ross, actresses/starlets like KStew, Brad Pitt for perfume and every reality “star”, being the “face” of anything beauty or fashion related product has become pretty meaningless. With photoshop and other technology even famous women who are actually beautiful are made to look bizarre and/or like completely different people. I wish that they would bring back the old, gorgeous Catherine Deneuve for Chanel type ad campaigns. If I want to see odd and average I can just look in the mirror.

  6. TheOneAndOnlyOnly says:

At least they are using models; tired of seeing actressess cashing in and hogging these jobs don’t they make enough money, Sorry I don’t want to see Sofia,Ellen,Bouncy,Swifty and others it’s just money grubbing; that’s why ads in the 80s/90s were so much better – check out Revlon’s Unforgettable faces ads that ran from 87 – 91, and please tina fey for Garnier she should be embarassed esp. since she fancies herself some sort of lib savant and yet she’ll grab some quick cash shilling in a hair product ad.

    • Christina says:

      Agree 100%.

It used to be that models wanted to be actresses. Now, actresses want to be models! You haven’t made it as an ‘actress’ unless you’ve got a beauty contract these days. How the likes of Emma Watson and Mila Kunis ever managed to land a contract with posh Paris brands is beyond me.

      • Apples says:

I think it has to do with the numbers on magazine sales. When they started putting KNOWN actresses in the covers, sales shot up. With that reasoning, fashion/makeup marketing favors an actress over a generally unknown (though potentially familiar faced) model.

      • Christina says:

        @Apples

Yes, I agree. It’s all down to celeb culture. If you put a gorgeous but anonymous model in your ads, it’s not going to attract anything like the media attention you’ll get from using an actress or other celeb who’s already famous. And other than Giselle, Kate Moss and Natalia Vodionova, there aren’t many models (I’m not counting underwear models mostly famous for their boyfriends) who are celebs in their own right these days.

That said, I wish these posh brands were a bit choosy in who they hire. Marion Cotilliard or Charlize Theron for Dior? Fine. They both have impeccable style. But Mila Kunis with her tatty tracksuits? What were they thinking of!

    • epiphany says:

I think this every time I pass the newsstand! Every fashion magazine has a celebrity on the cover, never a model. It’s no wonder the age of supermodels is over – we never get to see them!

    • zannoub says:

Amen to that! Let actresses do movies, singers sing and models walk runways and do ads.

    • Kim says:

ITA I love the Ellen Show but as the face of Cover Girl I don’t think so.My opinion has nothing to do with her age.

  7. tabasco says:

what the hell is going on with chanel lately?

  8. Nev says:

    and Gisele is back!!!

  9. La Calabaza says:

Coco Chanel must be rolling in her grave.

    • tracking says:

+1 for a while now. Chanel has dumbed down its elite brand to appeal to the masses and maximize profit. A shame.

  10. El says:

I personally am sick of seeing Gisele’s face and she doesn’t strike me as Chanel-like at all.

  11. kiwi says:

I don’t understand why people hate GiseLe so much, she’s an established model with a strong personality. Sure she’s opinionated, but all her opinions seem to be well based and it sure beats almost everyone in Hollywood who are too scared to say anything even remotely of substance.

    • Bijlee says:

I know! I really like her.

    • Harriet says:

Thank god someone put that down! I’ve been a fan since she was on the millenium edition cover of Vogue and in reality she is is known in the business for being sweet, professional, hard working and friendly. I also think she is frequently taken out of context and people rely on 6 word statements for example, out of a 3000 word article!

    • The Original Mia says:

      I like her too.

      That first photo is flawless.

  12. Kat says:

I wouldn’t say her face is her bigest asset. Or maybe they’re going to put makeup on her legs?

    • Christina says:

LOL! I don’t think she has a *bad* face. Though not beautiful, she’s very striking looking, not the sort of face you’d forget. But it is also NOT the sort of face which suits a posh French brand like Chanel. Her features are too harsh and unfeminine. Compare her with any previous Chanel models and you’ll see what I mean.

      • Harriet says:

I don’t actually. Genuinely. Compared to Nicole Kidman who has red hair? To Kate Moss’s rictus smile? Compared to a very, androgynous looking Kiera Knightley? All of them have a quirk to be honest, it really is about the eye of the beholder!

      • Sachi says:

        Really?

Freja Beha Erichsen, Irina Lazareanu, Natalia Vodianova, Georgia May Jagger, etc. all have striking faces, sharp features, and some ‘unfeminine’ looks.

Freja is Karl’s go-to Chanel girl and I wouldn’t say her features look soft and feminine and don’t fit the brand. She’s been Karl’s muse since 2007.

Stella Tennant is on the latest ad campaign and her features don’t look very feminine, either.

        Here’s Chanel’s 2013 Resort Campaign:
        http://models.com/work/chanel-chanel-resort-2013-campaign

Cara and Saskia look very far from “feminine”, which I’m assuming means soft, dainty, rounded, almost-bland features.

If anything, both models’ features look sharper and more distinct than Gisele’s. Gisele is not out of place with Chanel’s aesthetic nowadays. Karl has been experimenting with the appeal of the brand. He’s been hiring more and more models with sharp features whose faces just jump out of photos and draw the eye right away. Karl has been drawn to “handsome women” as his models for some years now.

Some of Karl’s favourite models from years past include Gemma Ward who can look like an ‘alien’ on her best day and Natalia V. with the bushy eyebrows and intense eyes.

    • Belle Epoch says:

      HAHAHAHAHA!

Many people think she looks like a guy. They did an awesome job in that first photo of making her look more feminine. It’s a home run for her. Chanel – not so much.

I get the Gisele hate. She’s incredibly pompous. All she did was BE BORN with amazing genes for modeling. That does not make her an expert on mothering or anything else!

  13. Harriet says:

@ Belle Epoch…Well nor are you an expert on motherhood, and nor am I for that matter! But I like that the world is free enough to be able to express opinions right? Otherwise you wouldn’t be able to express yours on this blog!

  14. Samigirl says:

Dave Grohl, I love you, but not cool, dude.

  15. Carolyn says:

Oh I prefer to remember Simon Le Bon hotness sitting on the front of a yacht singing “Rio” than a bad reject from a circus. Please please tell me now that that mustache is for a role in something. No wonder Yasmin is walking behind him!

  16. Turtle Dove says:

Nice to see a Gisele post. PopSugar has some new post-baby pictures of Gisele. She looks great of course.

    • Cass says:

      Thanks for the tip.

Gisele is looking tired and looks like she got a good amount of weight not good enough for people who were expecting to see her overweight due to pregnancy. I’m sure her body will look absolutely fabulous in few months after hardcore work out.

  17. dorothy says:

    Not a fan.

  18. Jean says:

Chanel has been making some bad choices lately. Gisele is a terrible choice.

  19. Mrs. Ari Gold says:

She couldn’t have been their first choice. She’s awful. She’s known more for her body than her face. She has absolutely no charisma.

  20. Dana says:

I think Gisele’s expert analysis on parenting are probably retweets from the nannies in her employ. She’s what guys call a butterface.

    • Cass says:

Looks like your head is at the same place as Gisele is when she is posing for pictures, you are lazy to make up one single interesting comment.

Gisele’s Twitter doesn’t have anything related to parenting and there are very few stuff related to her private life in there.
Her official site, blog and Facebook are the only places where she gives out little bits of her private life and there is no parenting lessons in any of them.

  21. lucy2 says:

Han Solo…sigh. Even as a kid, I knew he was way better than Luke.

You guys have to read the Willow / Will Smith story over on Dlisted. Willow basically put the brakes on her career and told her dad to stop pushing, she just wants to be 12.

  22. Amelia says:

Gisele was just an ordinary brunette before her nose jobs, breast implants and highlights. Now she’s kind of odd looking. Killer figure, but why is she the “face” of anything?

  23. KimK, why does she have to be everywhere?

  24. Chelsea's handler says:

Some of you have really got your panties in a Bundchen over this. Haven’t you?
