Kris Jenner allegedly slammed by Phylicia Rashad: shallow & vulgar (update)

The National Enquirer (via Radar Online) has a new story about how former Cosby Show matriarch, Phylicia Rashad, really feels about momager Kris Jenner. The main drawback to this story is that it’s off the record in that The Enquirer is claiming to have a source who tells them that Rashad hates Jenner, basically. I know it’s a tabloid, grain of salt and all that, but I believe it particularly because Rashad is no longer that famous. If they were going to invent a feud between Kris Jenner and one of the many influential people who think she’s awful, they would pick someone who is regularly in the news to pit her against. Here’s part of the story, with more juiciness in the upcoming Enquirer.

Kris Jenner might not like Honey Boo Boo’s mama June Shannon, but America’s other favorite TV mom Phylicia Rashad doesn’t like the Kardashian matriarch, according a new report.

As attorney Claire Huxtable on the wildly popular Cosby Show, the actress portrayed the ideal modern mom, and, according to the National Enquirer she believes Jenner to be far from that herself!

“She feels Kris represents everything shallow and vulgar about Hollywood,” an insider tells the Enquirer.

Kris has pushed her children to seek fame and fortune — from spreads in Playboy for Kim Kardashian to filming every second of their lives for reality TV, including Kourtney Kardashian giving birth twice on camera — and her actions have reportedly turned Phylicia against her.

For more exclusive details on how Phylicia Rashad disapproves of Kris Jenner and her parenting skills pick up the latest issue of the National Enquirer — on newsstands Thursday.

[From Radar Online]

Maybe Phylicia saw Kris’ recent appearance on The View and blabbed to her friends that she couldn’t stand her. I never thought of it this way, but for actors and actresses who bust their asses playing the game and remaining classy about it, particularly older actresses who conduct themselves with decorum like Phylicia, it’s got to sting to see people with no discernible talent dominating the headlines and earning millions slapping their names on product lines. That’s not how it was done even ten years ago, and all of a sudden there’s a new crop of “stars” we’re all talking about and watching on television. Sometimes, when I consider the sheer amount of reality shows about sh*t I never imagined anyone would care about, I feel really old. Yesterday I was glancing through the guide on my TV and I saw a show called something like “New England Linens.” I actually assumed it was a reality show about a small textile business until I realized that it was on the Home Shopping Network. It’s easy to point to Kris Jenner as the instigator of all these crap shows, but maybe she was just the inevitable precursor to this phenomenon, like that rat-type creature we may have all evolved from.

Oh and when I was looking for photos of Phylicia Rashad I found some of her at an NBC promotional event last month, which had me wondering what show she’s on. It turns out she was on that disastrous Do No Harm show, which got canceled after just two episodes. See that must burn.

Update: Thanks to BB for pointing out that Phylicia recently spoke out about reality show moms, and that it wasn’t just directed at Kris Jenner. So this story must be based on an interview she did on The Steve Harvey Show. Phylicia was shown images of reality show moms, and she said “I don’t know mothers who act like that. Do I really want to sit here and watch that? Is this what I want to do with the moments of this life?” Classy and to-the-point.

One fictional TV mom bashing another fictional TV mom.

    • Nicolette says:

      LOL.

    • BB says:

Phylicia Rashad’s comments were not just about Kris Jenner. Phylicia Rashad named other reality show moms including: Honey Boo Boo mother June and moms from RHONJ. The National Enquirer is only focusing on Kris Jenner. The National Enquirer would have you thinking Phylicia and Kris Jenner use to be good friends.

I think she speaks for everyone. She is an embarrassment for women everywhere. From the ‘release’ of Kim’s sex tape, (to attain money and celebrity) to filming a sham marriage. When I think of Kris, the words Vulgar, Cheap, Trash, indecent and immoral comes to mind.

    • Babalon says:

      This. +1

Though you left out vain and useless.

      • bored with the usa says:

And delusional because I think she really believes her own lies, ie. Kim’s wedding was real and they were in love, Khloe is absolutely Robert Khardashian’s daughter because Kris did a DNA test that proves it (actually it only proved that they were mother and daughter!) and Kris really believes that the crap they send out into the world is Honest and the family on the show is just how they are when the cameras are off. Good on ya, Phylicia. And now we have to be bombarded with the latest pregancy which one would think is the second coming of Jesus himself. Please, please make them STOP!

      • dagdag says:

Agree. The art of self-reflection is really not too common and this family is parvenu par excellence. Their lack of social pedigree is amazing, Celebrity, money, flash and shine, otherwise clueless.

  3. JL says:

Phylicia Rashad is right in her assessment and that same thought is expressed here a million times a day.

Unfortunately that kind of condemnation is music to Kris’ earing and only feeds the monster. Kris is laughing all the way to the bank on that one.

Claire Huxtable, Naomi Bennett and Jessica Fletcher <3 <3 <3

  5. Marni says:

    Team Claire Huxtable

  6. GeeMoney says:

Can’t say I disagree with her.

  7. GossipG says:

She shouldnt mess with fillers..Just like pimp mommy!

  8. fabgrrl says:

I think she is right, and I loooove Phylicia Rashad. However, I don’t think it would be fair to hold up Claire Huxtable as an achievable Mom-model. Seriously? Wealthy, successful doctor and lawyer couple who both work full time, yet somehow manage five children without child care help, AND maintain an immaculate house, without help, and somehow have time to ALWAYS be there when any kid needs them?!?!!?

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

hahah yes +1 ..what “reality” is that? 😉

    • Marigold says:

I’m one of 5 and grew up with two professional parents. I never knew a babysitter other than my grandmother and my older sisters. It might not be especially common but it’s certainly attainable. The most realistic part of that show was that kids were made to do chores and the older kids babysat the younger kids. Pretty realistic to me.

His office was also in the house.

  9. Susie Q says:

I’m not even going to read the article, just going to say YAY Phylicia Rashad!

  10. Nan209 says:

Better be good to Mama Huxtable.

  11. Meredith says:

Love the middle picture of her with Angela Lansbury. Now there are some classy dames!

  12. Lemony says:

Even if I hadn’t read the article I would say that I agree w/ Phylicia.

  13. Pants says:

I’m more focused on the fact that they canceled Do No Harm… I guess I’m the only person in America who actually likes the show! :-/

  14. MonicaQ says:

Loved the Cosby Show growing up and still do. I’d rather watch it everyday than any one episode of this Kardashian folks. I watched the one (and my only viewing experience) with Khloe Kardashian and her mom came to go to one of Lamar Odom’s games. She acted like a complete fame-hoochie, cannodoling with Mark Cuban even after Khloe was like, “Mom, chill.”

On an episode of “Fashion Police”, she even admitted her mom stole her clothes or buys clothes after she wears them. What kind of mom does that?

  15. Dawn says:

I think everyone is thinking this and wants someone to come out and actually say it. I don’t believe that she was speaking to Kris Jenner but to everyone who whore out their children for fame and money. And Kris is the biggest pimp of all. In my little world the Kraptrashians would no longer be on television, Kim would not be celebrated BUT recognized as the no-talent ho she is and we would go back to a world where kids don’t make thousands of dollars for being young unmarried single mothers while in High School and so on and so forth. Talent, true talent would be celebrated instead. And sex tapes would once again be called porn because that is what they are. But I don’t see that happening anytime soon as unfortunate as that is.

  16. janie says:

Pants.. u aren’t! Kris is a souless, pushy, vulgar, sleazy, etc, etc. Do any of the K’s have an education? Did any of the girls finish High School? Do they have any morals at all? Wow! Didn’t they hit the gene pool lottery?

  17. Joan says:

Kris is really delusional,i agree.she has a cinderella attitude and that is why she thinks everybody likes her and if you say you dont, then you are nothing more than a hater and a jealous person.i cant wait for the day kuwtk and all their other shows are pulled off tv and they dont get product endorsements, the true kris will come out,she will do so many humiliating things that we didnt even know was possible ie she could end up posing nude for playboy or she may even her own sex tape starring tod waterman and bruce jenner or even kanye,it may even be a thressome and kimmie will be involved.this woman dosent know the word shame.she will do anything to remain famous.you just watch.

  18. Jackie Jormp Jomp (formerly Zelda) says:

God I idolized Phylicia Rashad growing up. I wanted to be JUST like Mrs. Cosby when I was a little girl…

    She is class.

  19. DI says:

Well, one is classy and the other will never be – I’ll let you figure it out 🙂

  20. Madriani's Girl says:

Is that a recent pic of Rashad? Actually, it doesn’t matter. She has changed very little since the Cosby Show days. I don’t know whether or not I find that admirable or spooky.

  21. Melanie says:

I would think the National Enquirer focused on Phylicia’s ire for Kris Jenner because those Kardashian/Jenner’s move magazines. Or they must move magazines because I was at the store yesterday and they had four five tabloid covers that week! Who are these people that care about the Kardashian/Jenners? I’ve never met one but they seem to exist.

  22. Laurie M. says:

Do No Harm was canceled?! Damn, I kinda liked that show.

  23. Lisa says:

I LOVE HER. I’ve asked myself that before. Who sits down and watches these people? Don’t they have better things to do with their lives? It’s not even entertaining. I saw part of one of the Kardashian shows (god, they have more than one and some people don’t even have enough money to pay the rent), and it was the most soul-sucking five minutes.

  24. Patrice says:

Clair Huxtable for the win! ALWAYS 🙂

  25. Patrice says:

Side note: While I totally agree that this insane oversaturation of “reality” shows is completely appalling, what I find most distribing about it all is that it seems the majority of viewers actually believe all of that s**t is REAL. It boggles the mind and I personally feel that the networks should have to be forthcoming about all the producer-driven story lines, direction given and in some cases even story boards/scripts being used.

That why I love that a lot of former contestants from The Bachelor/ette series (probably the worst offender by far imo) have started coming forward and going on record in interviews completely blowing the lid on how the series is almost entirely scripted 😀 (Exp: Just last week frmr Bachelorette Ali revealed in an interview that she didn’t even choose who went home on on the 2-on-1 dates! And that paiiiinfully awkward kiss between Doug Clerget and Emily Maynard on her season? He admitted that producers 100% told him when/how to do that.) It’s not surprising but just, ugh. You know? I just hate such deception.

  26. Dap says:

I find sad and scary to think that reality shows are to (most of) the young generation what the cosby show was to our.

  27. aang says:

my kids know her as the lady in the intro to the dinosaur ride at disney world.

  28. lena80 says:

    Best TV Mom ever…IMO

  29. Kosmos says:

Ha! I love it when someone comes out against the Kris Jenner business monster, all of her children who collaborate, and their cheap and incessant flaunting in our faces! They probably don’t care, they are millionaires now, but I still think that we should continue to show our disapproval, good for Rashad !!

  30. Emma says:

Always thought the kardashians were the rich people version of the honey boo boo family.

  31. Lucy Goosy says:

I just love the though of her using her best Claire Huxtable voice in a rant telling Kris Jenner where to go!
I would pay admission for that!
