Gwyneth Paltrow fondled a comedian’s nads during her ‘Graham Norton’ interview

This is just a post for a hodge-podge of Gwyneth Paltrow stuff. First up, Gwyneth has introduced yet another item on her Goop site. Gwyneth has been adding special Goop items left right and center these days, but this particular item was not for the wealthy peasant wanting a $500 sweater. This particular item was a reasonably priced $45 bikini by Melissa Odabash. Except that the bikini is for little girls, and now there are complaints. Here’s one of the images used:

You can see the item on Goop here. I mean… it’s not surprising to me that some people are making bikinis for children, and it’s not surprising to me that some mothers are buying their little girls bikinis. There’s nothing technically wrong with the bikini being offered – it’s ruffled and cute and it seems to offer enough appropriate coverage. But it’s still sort of creepy to me, and I can see why Goop’s critics are throwing a hissy about it.

Gwyneth was also on Graham Norton’s show over the weekend – I think she looks really good here! Side-part! Her voice is so nasal and annoying, of course, but she seemed subdued and decent. Mo Farah is adorable too! The other guy is Lee Mack, a British comedian. In the first video, skip ahead to the 14 minute mark and you’ll see Gwyneth grab Lee Mack’s nads. It’s pretty awesome.

I think she’s a bit drunk. I actually think she’s often that way.

    • Amelia says:

I blame Graham, he always manages to get his guests wasted. 🙂
*shudder* That Mark Whalberg interview . . .
God, I love Mo so much. He’s such a cutie.

      • T.Fanty says:

Which makes me SO excited for the Cumby interview. It’s going to be a mess.

I’m not implying that Gwynnie is a drunk or anything (or maybe I am), but I have seen a fair amount of interviews or pics when she looks a little ‘merry.’ There’s GOOP, and then there’s fun, drunk Gwynnie who probably gets wasted and talks about missing cheeseburgers while falling off her heels.

      • Miss Kiki says:

GN + wine nearly always brings out the best in guests. Has anyone see when GOOP rapped on there a few years ago? It was television gold!

      • V4Real says:

I watched this on Youtube because I love Graham Norton; he is hella funny. I was waiting for him to ask her about being the most hated celebrity.

    • JenD says:

Drunk and fondling someone? How peasanty.

  2. Faye says:

The ad is creepy to me simply because the girl looks so unhappy and tired. Seriously, those are circles under her eyes! She reminds me of those PSAs I used to see on TV as a kid where they were asking for money to feed poor starving children in the Appalachians. I like to see kids in ads looking smiling and happy.

As for GOOPy, well, she’s funny enough in this video. But that voice! Gah, it’s always bugged me. I can’t watch her movies because of that voice.

  3. Emma13 says:

I don’t have a an issue with bikinis for little girls as long as they clearly look like it’s for a little girl. It has to have bright colors with lots of ruffles and coverage and be something no teenager or grown adult would wear. Goops is a bit too mature for my liking and the kid does look really depressed…maybe it’s because she’s not near the water yet?

    • jaye says:

I agree. They’ve been making bikini-type suits for little girls for years and years so I don’t have a problem with bikinis made for little girls. I can’t really see the whole suit in the picture, but right now my only argument against it is that it’s black. I like little girl swimwear to be brightly colored and cutesy. But that’s just me.

    • Kristine says:

I don’t see an issue with it either. It’s not like the child is wearing a thong. The bottom is cute and ruffled but I also would have preferred to see it in a bright color.

Sometimes I think this “child sexualization” complaint is only in the eyes of the people attacking. Yes there are times when children are being over sexualized and it’s disturbing but other times it seems like they are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

      • I Choose Me says:

I couldn’t agree more. I look at this kid and see nothing sexual about her. Yes there are predators out there but even if she was covered from head to toe they’d still be sick perverts, kind of like how a rapist is still a pos rapist no matter what his victim wears. To people who aren’t pedophiles, it’s just a kid in swimwear.

  4. Eleonor says:

when I was a kid my mum bought me bikini, and there are photos of me without the top part on the beach, seriously I don’t see the big deal, there were plenty of kids hanging around like that, and they are even now.

  5. rianic says:

My girls (age six then two year old twins) have always worn bikinis. It’s easier to get off when they needed to go to the bathroom or to change their diapers.

  6. LadyMTL says:

I’m very torn when it comes to little girls in bikinis. On one hand I do understand that it’s a lot easier if they need to use the bathroom and they usually are in “kiddie” styles (bright colors, ruffles, etc) but on the other hand it seems like over-sexualizing young children and I don’t like it.

  7. ds says:

I spent most of my early childhood years running around the beach butt naked. I guess that would be a more horrifying issue for some. And I bought my niece a super cute strawberry bikini.

    • Eleonor says:

I think only a perv could find interesting a 4 years old kid playing on a beach butt naked.

      • ds says:

Who said it was interesting? Who takes interest in kids on the beach?

      • Eleonor says:

That’s the point, I don’t see a big deal about a little girl in a bikini on the beach, or in bikinis of little girls.

      • ds says:

Oh OK 🙂 me neither. To be fair my parents did let me run wild on deserted beaches with no one around. I could see how it would be strange with hundreds of people on a public beach.

      • Eleonor says:

Well my mum tried to make me wear a bikini, but the top part usually didn’t make through the entire day. LOL

    • Dinah says:

Ow! Sand in the butt! Chafing!!OMG!

  8. Amelia says:

I think the only issue with the bikini is the crap advertising. What the hell were they aiming for, mini heroin-chic? If you’re going to advertise kids swimwear, it might pay to have a kid that looks, oh, I don’t know – happy? Leave the angsty brooding to twihards.
Final note; 45 smackers for a kids swimsuit? I barely pay that for mine now!
Although this is Goop, I suppose.

    • Neuron says:

      Mini-heroin chic! Love it!!!

    • momoftwo says:

My daughter has insisted on bikinis..she has her own fashion sense! But I buy them at Target for $15!!!

If I was vacationing in St. Croix, though, $45 would probably seem like a steal.

And I agree with you that the bikini itself doesn’t sexualize…it’s the ads and some of the pics. Little kids are supposed to be happy to be at the beach!

  9. Guesto says:

Much as I despise the Goop, it’s absolutely ridiculous to make a fuss over this bikini. It’s pretty, girly and a perfectly practical piece of beachwear.

In fact, I’d be more worried about anyone who has a problem with it.

    • Ms.Smurf says:

It looks cute, but the only thing I’d want changed is have more material on the top….instead of curving down, just have it all cloth.

    • karmasabiatch! says:

      Agreed, Guesto.

I have pics of me and friends in bikinis when we were all tots. Mummy was super-conservative, so I don’t think the suits were “edgy”, lol. What’s the big deal about kids wearing them now?

Oh, thanks for the clip of Goop on Graham Norton, Kaiser. Adore goofy Graham and his show!

  10. Jess says:

I had a bikini just like that as a little kid (25-odd years ago). Nothing strange about that. One pieces are good when kids get to the age when they’re swimming laps, but a bikini’s easier to deal with when kids still need help getting dressed, going to the bathroom etc.

Any sort of ad that features a kid who isn’t literally jumping for joy bothers some people, but kids aren’t just big bundles of happiness. I find it a bit weird that some people think kids should only be portrayed as happy and smiley, when even the happiest kids have plenty of other moods. I always think of the actual child in the ad. I’m sure anyone who’s tried to take planned pictures of kids knows that getting most kids to do the big cheesy grin is a hard task. I’ll bet a lot of the ‘happy’ pictures of kids in ads were taken hours into a shoot when the kid was bored out of their mind.

  11. lucy2 says:

I don’t see anything wrong with the bikini itself, but the ad is a little questionable.

I’m just surprised Goop didn’t try to model it herself.

  12. anneesezz says:

I have a 7 year old and I can tell you that no 7 year old wants a black bathing suit — EVER. If she does then you need to talk to her about whether she is sad a lot. Seriously.

I do not have a problem with a little girls wearing bikinis. I wore them and so did most girls I know. My daughter wears tankinis because she doesn’t like her belly showing, but I assure you all her bathing suits are pink, purple and polka dots, flowery, etc… NOT BLACK. No little girl will pick that out that color on her own.

  13. Aud says:

I don’t understand the fascination with her. Her hair is dull (like she is wearing a wig), her face is dull (botox in specific places, so that she can still feel comfortable saying she is ‘natural’), her expression is bland, her style is so commercial it is devoid of individuality.
I’m betting her very DNA has been given the enzyme equivalent of a colonic irrigation: she is THAT bland.

    • epiphany says:

“Bland” seems to be the flavor of the day. Haven’t you noticed that most of the actors and actresses around today are so indistinctive and dull you can’t tell one from the other? They’re so alike, they’re practically interchangable.

      • Aud says:

You have a point. There appears to be this ‘trend’ or fad (I don’t know if that’s correct either). Perhaps they’re over commercialised or standardised cardboard cutouts (wearing specific labels and so on, so they look uniform).
The only actresses, for example, that looked different (and were also criticised for it, mind you) were the female cast members of Game of Thrones (at the season premiere), who didn’t appear to be styled by emaciated celebrity stylists, but everyone else may as well be a Bokanovsky-ied bottle baby straight out of Brave New World.
But to me, Gwyneth is the queen of bland.
I can’t even watch Iron Man because of her and I can’t understand why ‘Anonymous’ haven’t hacked her site already.

      • epiphany says:

+1 on the GoT actresses – most are truly beautiful, talented, and very distinctive. Thnk of the endless Emmas, Emilys, Nikkis, Ryans – they’re impossible to tell apart – they look the same, and act the same – bland!
Goop, of course, is their reigning queen!

  14. lem says:

I don’t have any issue with little girls wearing bikinis– my mom put me in one that looked like pebbles’ bikini when i was barely a year old. But the advertisements that depict little girls in bikinis for public consumption doesn’t sit right with me. it just feels gross and a bit pedo to offer that up to the masses.

  15. Elisabeth says:

the last two pics made me laugh

  16. Jen says:

seriously? bikinis on babies/ little girls isn’t new!! some are very “Frederick’s of Hollywood,” not like this one. I don’t allow my kids to wear one smaller than a tankini, but whatever.
So much grosser is that Target sells underwire push-up bras for kindergarten and up…

  17. Dee Cee says:

She kick starts feudal fads, with subtle indoctrination honestly.. sour faced, disgruntled carnage she leaves behind.. notice Madonna and Beyonce fiercely guarding all publicity pix’s despite their freaky-antics in public appearances lately.. then Gwyen’s all over the place doing the unexpected, naughty kind of.. for usually organized sane, confident her.. somehow enchanting in a chaste, numb and sterile manner; she worries and corrects.. tries to teach.. her kids and husband eat junk and laugh and are happy if she’s not around..? Justly proving society is self-obsessed but I generously share.. learn and teach.. yet suffer them their faults?

  18. Zorbitor says:

After we prosecute the black dog from the 1950’s Coppertone ad we can all wear burkas!

  19. carebearvancouver says:

After becoming a first time mom last year I discovered how much easier it is to change a swim diaper in a two piece! The small things that make a big difference lol sigh…..and there is nothing wrong with bikinis, or bare bum or top free for little girls but at the same time it depends on the style….usually disney characters or fruit etc…. but black to me says too old and not little girl and I am conscious of avoiding anything that looks sexy or older always!

  20. Lisa says:

Frickin’ dying at the thin-lipped glare in that screenshot.

  21. OhMyMy says:

As much as I don’t like her it’s Graham Norton…anything can happen.

Those two pics of her in the pin stripe suit holding the coffee cup are priceless. The look on her face. Those are just begging for some “creative” thought bubbles.

  22. Agnes says:

She SO desperately tries to be SO edgy.

  23. lisa says:

her un photoshopped skin is really old looking for her age

  24. I Choose Me says:

Love, love, love the Graham Norton show.

  25. Anon says:

Who makes a black swimsuit for a little girl? As for Gwyneth, she’s boring.
