Lily Allen says cocaine isn’t that bad

wenn2235218
It may be time for Lily Allen to seriously stop yapping for a while. The Brit pop star is getting more attention for her drunken antics and big mouth than her music these days. In her most recent rambling interview, Lily went on at length about the “positive” side of cocaine and how she started taking the drug to fit in with her friends. What a great message for her fans.

LILY ALLEN has defended drug use, slammed Christianity and attacked her own record label – in her most controversial ever interview.

Criticising the ‘hysteria’ around life-destroying drug cocaine, she said: “The only story is that drugs are bad and they will kill you – you will become a prostitute, a rapist or a dealer. But that’s not true.

“I know lots of people who take cocaine three nights a week and get up and go to work.

“But we never hear that side of the story.

“I wish people wouldn’t sensationalise it.

“Some people are just bad at taking drugs.”

Lily admits taking cocaine – because she felt left out when those around her were doing it – but says she didn’t enjoy the experience.

She added: “I felt like a lonely child, when everybody else was doing it and I wasn’t.

“That’s why I took cocaine when I didn’t even like it.”

Speaking about religion in the interview with Word magazine Lily – who stepped out in some huge heels yesterday – continued: “I don’t like Christianity much.

“I was brought up in a Catholic school and they told me gays, adultery and drugs were bad.

“All my mum’s friends were gay, my dad was having affairs and there were drugs in the house when I was a kid, so it was a bit cruel.”

Well, I guess now we know how she really lost all that weight recently – the White Powder Diet! No wonder she and Lindsay Lohan are such good buddies. Lily also used the interview as a forum to whine about how shabbily her record label treats her, the poor thing.

Even record label EMI didn’t escape Lily’s wrath – as she talked candidly about her earnings.

She added: “I got £50,000 for my first album and I sold a lot of records.

“Twenty years ago, I’d have been booked in at the Ritz with five grams of cocaine on my table and 10 bunches of flowers. Some new clothes. A chauffeur on 24-hour call.

“Now I’m lucky to get an Oyster card. I ask for a hotel in Paris and I get a two-star place in the eighth arrondissement on my own.”

[From The Sun]

From all the photos we’ve seen of Lily partying with A-listers like Elton John and Mark Ronson, going on shopping sprees and wearing Prada to events, I hardly think she’s impoverished. And maybe if she wants the label to cater to her demands, she should clean up her act a little and put out some more hits. Here in the U.S. she is nowhere near the hit-making status of other Brit female imports like Amy Winehouse, Duffy and Adele. She’s a lot more known for being too drunk to walk out of clubs and starting feuds with other artists.

she is a spoiled brat with a sick sense of entitlement. and her music is lame.

i liked her when i first saw the video smile. but now i think she is a moron.

    She is such a dumbass.

Her poor Gran must be spinning in her grave.

  6. You know, I agree that there is a hell of a lot of purposeful misinformation circulating about controlled substances by our respective governments, and I actually commend Allen for (half-assedly) addressing the issue. Just because you experiment every now and again does not mean you are addict or that you are unfit for society. (See Winehouse.)

Experimenting is fine – within moderation. Though I’d hardly call being coked up three nights a week moderation.

whatevs, I love her album and can’t wait for the next one to come out next month! She’s hilarious! So I don’t agree with her opinions, it’s not like I’m ever going to meet her. I don’t like Tom Cruise’s opinions either, but Last Samurai was an awesome movie.

  8. Tori says:

I think she worded her opinions on drugs quite well. It is true that some people can take drugs responsibly. Yes there are people who fall prey to the addiction cycle, yet this does not make drugs a bad thing. Drugs can be used for good things and they can be used responsibly. And for those that might ask, well do you want your children to take drugs. I am not afraid of my children doing anything that I have done myself.

  9. geronimo says:

Lol! Oyster card and 2-star accommodation. Funny! Yeah, she is a bit gobby and should probably button it but she was just being honest. Doubt very much if she sees herself as a role-model for anyone.

  10. anonynous says:

I find it more than a little suspicious that these quotes, were all over the place before anyone had a chance to see the article. And what about the article? O.K. the drug comment centered around a question about her song, Everyone’s at it, if she’s going to write an Anti” drug song, perhaps she was asked about the song, so that her quote could be taken out of context, or (and this is what I think without real proof) SHE WASN’T THERE AT ALL.The same would apply to her question about Christians, were she is asked about a song she wrote called HIM, her take on god, I don’t trust the people that write these things down, it’s always negative, in her case, because they don’t really care. And your believing they’re words are her words with out any proof. ???????

  11. trollydolly says:

I think she’s being really honest. Not everyone who experiments with drugs or dabbles in a bit of recreational drug use will become an addict. That’s fact. Just like not everyone who has a G&T before dinner will end up an alcoholic.

  12. Cinderella says:

I’m sorry, but cocaine is more than a recreational drug. If someone is doing it three times a week, they’ve got problems. It’s just too damn addictive and expensive at that.

Lily needs to spend less time yapping and more time shagging her old, rich boyfriend.

  13. Codzilla says:

Actually, Tori, I would prefer if my children stayed away from cocaine. Yes, I’ve tried it and never became addicted, but who’s to say they won’t get hooked? While I can’t control their actions past a certain point, I would never encourage them to dabble in potentially devastating behavior.

But to each his (or her) own …

  14. Tori says:

I would never encourage them to dabble in potentially devastating behavior, however saying this realizing that addiction could happen. I think that the pros can outweigh the cons. I am a completely different person today after experimenting with lots of different drugs. I am much happier becuase of it and love myself and everyone else on earth a lot more. I have compassion that was not present before experimenting. This is what I want for my children. If they can come to peace with themselves without drugs, then great! But if they need them to reach a point of personal acceptance then I will be there to cheer them on.

  15. MSat says:

Tori, admit it- you’re high as a kite right now, aren’t you?

  16. gg says:

Lord, Tori hon – you really are not hearing yourself. Those are very ignorant and damaging comments you’re making. Do you understand the meaning of “right” from “wrong”? You’re a better person from doing lots of drugs and encourage your kids to do so?? Are you kidding me?? I work with a lady whose life was absolutely destroyed by doing cocaine and is still paying for it, years later. I know many others who’ve been in treatment. Cocaine is nothing to joke about or encourage others to do, and no, they don’t use cocaine for medical purposes anymore, and for good reason. If you’re a nurse, and you know otherwise, please enlighten me.

wait a minute – this is a joke isn’t it? LOL you got me! good one.

  17. Baholicious says:

    @MSat: LOL!

My excuse today is Robitussin DM Extra-Strength…

  18. gg says:

one more thing – damn Lily’s hair looks horrible. The cut of the fringe is all wrong and it looks filthy.

  19. Codzilla says:

Tori: If your kids need drugs to “reach a point of personal acceptance” then you might want to reexamine your parenting skills. Sure, we all deal with self-confidence issues, but encouraging your kids to use drugs to overcome them, rather than, say, to read more, travel abroad or go to college, is just plain irresonsible.

  20. Baholicious says:

@gg: She probably uses the scissors Tori cuts up her weed with.

  21. Antony says:

I hope they’ll include that in her eulogy.

  22. Polkasox says:

    @gg –

I’m a nurse, and yes, they do use cocaine for medical purposes still, but very, very rarely. It’s used for stopping nosebleeds (cocaine constricts the blood vessels) but it’s a liquid, not a powder form, like most people abuse.

  23. boomchakaboom says:

    *sigh*

Tori: shut UP and back away from the pipe. God.

Cocaine is not a good idea. Practically everyone experiments but most of them later look back and thank the heavens they escaped from said experimentation relatively unscathed and WISER. How do they know their luck was good? Because so many of their friends/acquaintances were not and currently reside in graveyards, hovels, cardboard boxes, and prisons. Their teeth turn black and fall out, their noses are shot and bleed a lot, and their “friends” are ravenous jackels who would strip the skin off you if they could get $20 for it.

No, it doesn’t happen to everyone who tries it, but you really don’t wish such a crapshoot on your kids. Take them to Disney World instead, or on a freakin’ camping trip. HIKING is fun too, and CHEAP.

    I’m depressed now.

  24. Danielle says:

    You forgot Leona Lewis!

  25. anonynous says:

People don’t get it! This was not an actual comment! How many of these dumb remarks made up by the press, are people going to believe. That same article wrote that she walked up to Mick Jagger and said I f**King hate people like you, come on! Lily Allen and Mick Jagger were pictured together, when she was 14 years old, she would never say this! The drug remarks are confiscated from an article written by Miranda Sawyer, (go ahead look it up if you care) This articles keep going with information from other articles. They are from the tabloids!

  26. Judy says:

Just another punk and wanna be star.

  27. LondonParis says:

i’m sorry, but i have to say- she’s right. some people really are just bad at taking drugs.
does that mean that she should inform the press about succumbing to peer pressure as a grown woman, or inmply that there are no dangers? absolutely not.
but drug information IS sensationalized. there’s just no escaping that.

  28. AC says:

Even though this woman sounds like she has alot of problems, I commend her candid honesty.

Simply experimenting with drugs does not always lead to full on addiction. Just like having a glass of wine doesn’t always make you an alcoholic.

Our government has tried for so long to scare us into thinking all narcotics are bad when in reality, a few are not. How is marijuana harmful when it helps ease the pain for cancer and glaucoma patients? And why do people continue to experiment drugs despite the government’s fervent warnings to “stay away” from them? It only increases one’s desire to try them moreso.

While I do not support legislation to legalize all drugs, I think legalizing marijuana should be given serious consideration.

Most people will experiment with drugs in some form but it always does not lead to addiction. I think that’s the point she was trying to convey.

  29. I must have missed the post where Tori mentioned she served up a big line of coke to her kids each morning in leu of breakfast . . .

Seriously, why the animosity? All Tori talked about was discretionary honesty when talking to her children about drugs. I doubt her intentions were to motive her kids to use, she just acknowledged the fact that they may be tempted to experiment in the future. I don’t see what was so horrible about her statement.

  30. boomchakaboom says:

Let’s not drag poor old pot into this fray. I’m a big proponent of marijuana and think it should be legalized asap.
Never, ever lump pot into the same category as cocaine, meth, crack, etc. All that crap has been processed and cooked somehow, with godknowswhat, and good clean pot is smoked right off the vine, so to speak. It’s downright organic. I know it personally, er, through a friend of mine, and it would never send anyone into a bad place. 🙂

  31. Dombey says:

So she has quit doing drugs. I wish she would quit making music.

  32. gg says:

If you think it’s totally okay to use cocaine, whatever, but this could happen to you: Mark Speight and Natasha Collins

Google them and see how fun they thought coke was.

  33. Whitey Fisk says:

“I felt like a lonely child, when everybody else was doing it and I wasn’t.

“That’s why I took cocaine when I didn’t even like it.”

Does she live in an afterschool special?

  34. Whitey Fisk says:

I don’t understand the collective overreaction to Tori’s post, either.

I think it’s pretty obvious she doesn’t have children yet, anyway. As kids, who among us didn’t dream of the glorious future…when we would become the coolest parents in the world and let our children eat cookies for dinner? And oh, the magical toothbrush-free lives we would lead! With age comes wisdom.

  35. Tori says:

Hey thanks Whitey and Jaundice Mac! I did say if they didn’t need drugs to get to a point of personal acceptance then that was great. By the way cocaine is not the drug I was referring to when I said that I learned how to love myself and others. I did learn things from cocaine but it was certainly not love. I don’t like the things that cocaine does to me but I don’t regret doing it either. Everything in life that we do serves to teach us lessons. My whole point was that we should question everything that those who are in charge tell us. Why do we have the war on drugs? Go back in history to when things began to become illegal. Mostly it was bigotry, also there was DUpont who stood to make a pretty penny off the illegalization of pot. Every anti drug piece of propaganda says only negative things about drugs and sometimes things that are not even true. All I am saying is that there are positives and I will have open honest disscussions with my children. Yes I do have children. I have two and no they are not exposed to drug use but they are exposed to questioning authority, even me.

  36. mollination says:

    I love pot.

  37. paris herpes says:

she probably was just being honest. i used to dabble in drugs when i was about her age and then stopped around 27-28 because hell, you just want to fall asleep at night and not have a pounding heart before you gotta go to work the next day. of course, some people are prone to addiction, but cocaine is probably the crappiest drug to get addicted to. alcohol is probably the worst though, since it is acceptable in society to drink socially.

  38. Jenny says:

    Is she famous ?
i dont even know that woman …
oh my god, she’s sooooooo stupid!
    why give her attention ?

  39. spooge says:

Well if she doesn’t want her labels money, I’ll take it.
Plus I’ll play all the instruments, live in a basement apartment and eat macaroni and cheese every day like I already do.
    jeez… 50,000 pounds for a first album.
My first album made me all of 300 bucks… and I worked my ass off and got nowhere. I’d feel like I won the lottery if a label offered me 50,000. And I’d gladly take it and not complain.

  40. anonymous says:

Lily Allen has never mentioned an exact amount that she was given, for Alright Still, (NOT ON VIDEO TAPE) articles from 2006, said it was 500,000 pounds.Spooge’s musical career, didn’t work, as well, so why take it out on her? By the way she is suing the tabloid magazine that wrote this, so you’re all wrong if you think it is true.
