Amy Winehouse is a terrorist target

In February’s Vanity Fair, Christopher Hitchens wrote an article about Salman Rushdie and the fatwa that was issued against him. Normally, I don’t care for Hitchens’ writing, but he had a valid point – that the Rushdie fatwa was a turning point for terrorist threats against artists, something still being dealt with today.

Troubled singer Amy Winehouse and music producer Mark Ronson are two prominent Jews being targeted by anti-Semitic terrorists, in retaliation for the conflict in Gaza.

As the conflict in Gaza rages on, Islamic extremists are turning their hate to Western nations and their Jewish citizens, naming several prominent Brits on “a list of those who support Israel.”

U.K. paper The Sun reports that a member on an extremist site asks for help compiling a list, while another asks for addresses and info for “top Jews” to target. Among the celebs on the online forum Ummah that are listed: Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson and the star of Britain’s The Apprentice, Sir Alan Sugar.

British anti-terror expert Glen Jenvey fears that the list is far from harmless. “The Ummah website has been used by extremists. Those listed should treat it very seriously. Expect a hate campaign and intimidation by 20 or 30 thugs.”

Hamas leader Mahmoud Zahar encouraged his followers to commit violence, saying Israel “legitimized the killing of their people all over the world.”

The Community Security Trust, which advises Britain’s Jewish community on safety, said: “We are advising prominent Jewish individuals to be conscious of potential threats.”

I didn’t know Winehouse was Jewish, and at this point I doubt she even practices Judaism, if that makes a difference to anyone intending to do her harm. I believe she worships at The Church of the Holy Crack Pipe at this point. Not to make light of this terrible report, but do the terrorists know they’re targeting someone who is already intent on killing herself?

No matter what, Hamas is crazy. I feel bad for the innocent people there but Hamas itself is wrong. The whole world is going to sh*t

I know, when you make Hezbollah look moderate you know you have issues.

  3. viper says:

What do you know about Hamas?

  4. Mairead says:

    EDIT
What do we know about Hamas? That their favourite things are flowers and bunnies and puppy-dogs and unicorns; ok I know I’m being catty, but I don’t understand what you mean by that question?

What I understand is that Hamas since the 2nd Intifada have managed to successfully manipulate the Palestinian public into viewing them as a necessary evil, the one group of people who are physically doing things for them which is why they are part of the elected government.

Now Hamas are (allegedly) using schools as as well as other public buildings (whilst they’re in session) as sites to launch rockets from and effectively using the people of the Gaza Strip as human shields against the highly-efficient yet heavy-handed Israeli army.

As for the story in hand – there are always going to be unbalanced eejits and thugs out there, I doubt that terrorism is any greater a threat to any of those people than a common-or-garden stalker. Anyway, I’m beginning to think that the Winehouse is indestructible!

Hysterical write up for a serious issue.

    Well said Mairead.

  6. Jaclyn says:

You didn’t know she was Jewish? No offense, but it’s obvious.

  7. nina says:

    how obvious is it, jaclyn?

  8. Natalie says:

How did she pee like that in the 3rd photo? She is just nasty.

  9. prissa says:

She’s like a cockroach; she can survive anything. On a different note, I don’t understand how her boobs manage to look so amazing!!

  10. mojoman says:

Nobody can destroy winehouse, she has more poison in her bloodstream than any biological weapons combined. UK should make full use her!

  11. Baholicious says:

Nina, she’s a very Jewish-looking girl. That and she always wears a Star of David around her neck. I’m sure that’s what Jaclyn meant.

  12. nina says:

There is no such thing as Jewish-looking. Judaism is a religion. You have Jews in all shapes and colors. It is same as saying that someone looks Catholic.

  13. Jaclyn says:

Baholicious, yes, thank you, that IS what I meant. Gosh, people get so offended so easily…

  14. Baholicious says:

Yes there is Nina and you know very well what I mean. I know technically, you are right, it is a religion but at the same time it can be, and is by many Jewish people themselves, taken to mean ethnicity as well.

But, I’ll re-phrase: she has very Ashkenazic features common among Jewish people of Eastern European origin. Better?

“Judaism is a religion. You have Jews in all shapes and colors. It is same as saying that someone looks Catholic.”

Yes, but a vast majority of Jews are Semites (hence “Antisemitism”), which is an ethnic classification. It’s true you can’t say anyone “looks” like followers of a religion, but you can say someone looks like their ethnicity.
For the record– I look pretty damn Catholic 😉

  16. Christina X says:

Oh well, I still really like Amy Winehouse.

    I’m glad she’s safe.

  17. mojoman says:

“jewish looking”? I am not being sensitive or anything but honestly I have no idea there is such description since I know a few Indian Jews and Chinese Jews (yes, by integration) so how do you specify a Jewish look?

  18. vdantev says:

Figured she’d be of more use as a biological/chemical weapons factory.

  19. Baholicious says:

@mojoman: I think you mean ‘conversion.’
